Harrah’s Las Vegas Headliner Comedy-Magician Mac King to Appear on
Penn & Teller: Fool Us

Show to broadcast at 8 p.m. on Monday, July 27 on the CW

Harrah’s Las Vegas Headliner Comedy-Magician Mac King will try to “fool” fellow magicians Penn & Teller on the CW’s Penn & Teller Fool Us. Magicians are invited to perform their best trick to try and fool the world-famous team of Penn & Teller, who will get to see the trick only once and have to immediately try to work it out. The live studio audience and the TV audience watch along with Penn & Teller as they try to figure out the secrets.  King’s episode will broadcast on Monday, July 27 from 8 p.m. – 9 p.m. Now in its second season, the show has connected with summer audiences with high ratings and is hosted by British television and radio personality Jonathan Ross.

“This was such an amazing opportunity to work with Penn & Teller since we have known each other for so long,” said King. “We have seen each other’s shows in Las Vegas a number of times so choosing a trick that they hadn’t seen before proved to be a challenge. The one that I ended up going with was one that I knew they would get a kick out of trying to figure out.”

About Mac King:
Now in his 15th year of headlining afternoons at Harrah’s Las Vegas, comedy-magician Mac King captivates audiences as he casts out a fishing line over their heads and catches live goldfish out of mid-air, performs amazing sleight-of-hand, makes his head completely disappear in a paper bag, and renders himself invisible, all while remaining unbelievably funny. Because of his quick wit and extensive audience interaction, no two shows are alike.

Sought after worldwide, King has made television appearances on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” and all five of NBC’s “The World’s Greatest Magic” TV specials. King is consistently praised by fellow magicians. In a recent Wall Street Journal article, Teller, of Penn & Teller fame, called King “The best comedy magician in Vegas. He’ll fool you with his fantastically original tricks…” His numerous accolades include “Best Las Vegas Show” in the 2012 About.com Reader’s Choice Awards. Las Vegas Review-Journal named his show the “Best Bargain Show” for 10 straight years (2003-2013), “Best Family Attraction” in 2012, and “Favorite Male Las Vegan” in 2008. In 2011, he was deemed “Best Strip Headliner” in the Las Vegas Weekly’s “Best Of” Awards. King also has been voted as Magic Magazine’s “Funniest Act in Magic,” the World Magic Awards’ “Best Comedy Magician” and the Magic Castle’s “Magician of the Year.”

Harrah’s Comedy-Magician Mac King made a special visit to four local elementary schools as part of Mac King’s Magical Literacy Tour: Nevada Reading Week 2015. During his scheduled visits, King hand-delivered books collected from book drives held throughout February of this year with Savers of Las Vegas, the YMCA of Southern Nevada, Egg Works, The Egg & I, The Toy Box and Splashville. Donations benefitted The Public Education Foundation.

“I’d like to thank the community partners that helped make Mac King’s Magical Literacy Tour: Nevada Reading Week 2015 really special,” said King. “I greatly enjoyed sharing the love of reading with my new pals and the enthusiasm was priceless. I look forward to making new pals next year.”

In 2011, King launched Mac King’s Magical Literacy Tour, a citywide literacy program to encourage reading for Las Vegas school children.

King, one of today’s brightest and most talented magicians, takes the stage twice daily, Tuesday through Saturday, at Harrah’s Las Vegas at 1 and 3 p.m. in the Showroom Theatre. Tickets are between $30 and $45, plus tax. Additional information on The Mac King Comedy Magic Show can be found by visiting www.mackingshow.com.

Dignitaries, Local Influencers and Celebrities Prepare for the SNAP Experience January 27-31

Three Square Food Bank, in partnership with AARP and Weight Watchers, presents the SNAP Experience January 27 through 31, designed to promote advocacy around the federally funded Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps.

During the SNAP Experience notable dignitaries, influencers and celebrities will limit their food spending while attempting to eat healthy, balanced diets. Each person will spend no more than $18.55 total for five days – the amount designated to those enrolled in the SNAP program.

The SNAP program provides assistance to people struggling with food insecurity as a result of unemployment, underemployment and poverty. Nevada currently ranks among the lowest states in food assistance participation. More than 250,000 low-income Southern Nevadans rely on SNAP benefits, half of which are children. For those with questions about the SNAP program, benefits and application, Three Square offers assistance through the Three Square Center (702-765-4030).

SNAP Experience participants include CEO of Three Square Food Bank Brian Burton, City of Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, City of North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee, City of Henderson Mayor Andy Hafen, City of Boulder City Mayor Roger Tobler, City of Mesquite Mayor Mark Wier, Rumor Hotel chef Steve Austin, director of business development for Weight Watchers Heather Avila, UFC Hall of Fame fighter Forrest Griffin, KTNV morning and mid-day news anchor Jessica Janner, KKLZ mid-day personality Terrie Springs, and VIEW Neighborhood Newspapers copy editor Lisa Valentine.

Featured participants will post daily blogs about the experience, meal choices, and well-being during the week at www.snapexperiencelv.org.

Comedy-Magician Mac King Donates More Than $13,000 to
Susan G. Komen of Southern Nevada

Announces “Mac King & Susan G. Komen – Magic For a Cure” fundraiser
to continue indefinitely

Comedy-Magician Mac King has donated $13,000 to Susan G. Komen of Southern Nevada through the “Mac King & Susan G. Komen – Magic for a Cure” fundraiser.  King, who has been an avid champion for childhood literacy in Southern Nevada, began raising money and awareness for breast cancer programs and research during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2011.  Since then, he has been supporting the cause twice a day, five days a week, 52 weeks a year, for the past three years and has sold more than 5,200 bracelets, raising $13,000 for Susan G. Komen of Southern Nevada.

“The ‘Mac King & Susan G. Komen – Magic for a Cure’ fundraiser started as a one-month campaign during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. There was fantastic support from my pals in the audience and I decided to keep it going,” said King. “Two years later, together we have raised more than $13,000; proving that you can do little things everyday that will add up to one tremendous impact in the community. The fight against breast cancer is ongoing and I will continue supporting the cause with this fundraiser as long as the show exists.”

The fundraiser began in October of 2011 during Breast Cancer Awareness month when King ditched his famous yellow “cloak of invisibility” for a pink one to kick off the fundraiser.  Guests of The Mac King Comedy Magic Show are encouraged to make a make a $5 donation after the show to receive two pink “Mac King & Susan G. Komen – Magic for a Cure” wristbands. In addition, those who purchase two merchandise items after the show will also receive two wristbands and King will donate $5 on their behalf.  All proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen of Southern Nevada.

Mac King’s Magical Literacy Tour: Back to School 2013 Book Drive Collects More Than 1,000 Books For Kids in At-Risk Schools

Comedy-Magician Mac King Teamed Up with Las Vegas 51s and Grimaldi’s Pizzeria
To Host Book Drives in August

More than 1,000 books were collected for kids in at-risk schools during Mac King’s Magical Literacy Tour: Back to School 2013, benefiting Clark County READS, the literacy initiative of The Public Education Foundation. Comedy-Magician and Harrah’s Headliner Mac King partnered with Grimaldi’s Pizzeria in Las Vegas and the Las Vegas 51s baseball team to collect books for kids in at-risk schools during book drives held in August. Those who donated three or more new or gently used children’s books received a pair of tickets to The Mac King Comedy Magic Show and special offers from the host venue.

“Since launching my literacy tour in 2011, the community has come together to collect more than 7,500 books for kids in local schools. This wouldn’t be possible without my pals at Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, the Las Vegas 51s, and the many other wonderful community partners who have joined forces with Mac King’s Magical Literacy Tour throughout the years,” said Mac King. “I’m truly grateful for your support and look forward to being able to deliver the books to Las Vegas schoolchildren during Nevada Reading Week 2014.”

Each year during Nevada Reading Week, King visits students at local elementary schools to teach the importance of literacy by reading stories and performing tricks from his show. During these assemblies, King personally delivers books collected throughout the year so each child is able to take a book home with them. For many kids this is the first book they can call their own. Local businesses and organizations interested in joining forces with Mac King to host a book drive can email macking@preferredpublicrelations.com for more information.

About Grimaldi’s Pizzeria:
In the world of pizza, Grimaldi’s is an institution that has garnered more awards than any other pizzeria in the country with more celebrity sightings than most 5-star restaurants.  Using only the freshest ingredients, a “secret recipe” pizza sauce, handmade mozzarella cheese and dough, Grimaldi’s serves traditional pizza (as it began in Naples, Italy) in an upscale yet casual, family oriented pizzeria. The intense heat of the oven evenly bakes the pies to create Grimaldi’s famous crispy and smoky thin crust that Zagat has voted best pizza year after year. Grimaldi’s Pizzeria has five locations in Las Vegas and one in Sparks, Nev.  Las Vegas locations include The Shoppes at The Palazzo, Rainbow and 215, Boca Park, Fashion Village, The Fashion Show Mall and Richmar Plaza.  The Sparks restaurant is located in The Legends at Sparks Marina.
