The Immersive Time-Traveling Attraction Now Hosting Rat Pop-Up Café Through
End of June

Rat-uccino, anyone? For the adventurous at heart, The San Francisco Dungeon will be launching The Rat Café, an immersive pop-up experience available for a limited time this summer, starting in June.

Be forewarned: the fare at this pop-up experience is neither locally grown nor sustainably sourced. Guests can sip their coffee while seated at bistro-style tables, nicely draped with red and white gingham tablecloths… all while being surrounded by live rats. The special price starts at $29.99 per person and includes all-you-can-drink coffee and 15 minutes of interacting with the furry residents, as well as admission to The San Francisco Dungeon.

Guests who book this rodent encounter will arrive at The San Francisco Dungeon where they will be seated and served their coffee in the lobby reminiscent of the Barbary Coast. Once guests finish their cup of Joe and bid farewell to the rats, they will begin The San Francisco Dungeon experience, the first-of-its-kind attraction for North America, providing a 60-minute, live-action journey through 200 years’ worth of the Bay Area’s most riveting—and sinister—history. Located in Fisherman’s Wharf, the experience begins with a suspense-filled descent in a rickety mine-shaft elevator to a realm where theatrical actors, captivating storytelling, special effects and spectacular stages offer up a dark, atmospheric—and often hilarious—interpretation of the city’s deepest, darkest historical moments. From the Gold Rush to the Chinatown Plague (where more rats await!) to Alcatraz, interact with 10 distinct shows inspired by actual events from the city’s history. As visitors pass from one show to the next, professional actors transform into various shady characters such as Sam Roberts, the leader of the Gangs of San Francisco, or infamous bar owner and crimper, Miss Piggott and her partner-in-crime, Shanghai Kelly.

New Figure to Be Modeled after Tyson’s Role in Warner Bros. Pictures’ “The Hangover”

On Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 11 a.m., Mike Tyson will come face to face with…Mike Tyson. He will unveil the world’s first Mike Tyson wax figure at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas. The figure is modeled after his star turn as himself in Warner Bros. Pictures’ “The Hangover.” After the figure is revealed, he will permanently be on display inside the attraction’s The Hangover Experience and positioned right next to his beloved tiger, forever trapped inside of the bathroom.

Tyson posed for the figure this spring for nearly two hours with a team of 10 artists capturing nearly 300 measurements of his athletic frame. As with all Madame Tussauds’ figures, Tyson’s figure represents his real-life size and likeness. Approximately 20 artists took nearly six months to create the figure. After Tyson posed, his measurements used for the figure were first sculpted in clay by hand and then covered in a plaster cast. Once the clay was removed from the cast, the wax was poured in and allowed to cool. Nearly six weeks were spent meticulously inserting each hair by hand, which is customary for Madame Tussauds’ studio team. Finally, the figure was fitted with acrylic eyes and teeth, while countless layers of tinted paint were applied to build up skin tones and replicate his iconic face tattoo. Similar to role in the movie, Tyson will be dressed in a shirt and jacket.

“I am truly honored to be an addition to the Madame Tussauds celebrity collection,” says Tyson. “I knew the replica of me would be of high caliber but I was blown away at the details and how much it truly looked identical to me. Side by side, it’s almost impossible to tell the difference.”

As for where Tyson’s figure will be, The Hangover Experience is Madame Tussauds’ newest themed room, based on Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Hangover, the popular comedy trilogy. Launched on National Hangover Day, January 1, 2015, the experience is complete with the notorious hotel room, a smashed replica of the Las Vegas Metropolitan police car and the wedding chapel as seen in the film. The room also features two additional character figures from “The Hangover” Trilogy, “Alan” (played by Zach Galifianakis) and “Phil” (played by Bradley Cooper). Madame Tussauds began creating The Hangover Experience in July 2014.  The 1,100-square-foot room was created in conjunction with Warner Bros. Consumer Products.

Sensational British Boy Band Now on Display through February 2016

Wax figures of the award-winning pop group, One Direction, are now on display at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas through February 2016 as part of their “world tour.” All five original members of 1D will be featured at the attraction, including Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and recently departed member, Zayn Malik. The pop stars are featured sitting on bleachers with plenty of room for fans to cozy up to the figures for the perfect photo opp.

First launched in London in 2013, the One Direction figures were created in close collaboration with the band. Over the course of two sittings, 40 talented studio artists worked to take hundreds of precise measurements, examined their skin tones, matched their eye colors and tested hair swatches to ensure accuracy. The stars’ personal hairstylist then added the final touches to the boys’ stylish strands. Dressed in clothes donated by the singers themselves, the figures are adorned in their signature smart-casual stage style. The band members were notably stunned by the likeness of their figures. The figure creation took four months to complete and the cost for each figure totaled approximately $300,000.

One Direction launched to super-stardom in 2010 after appearing on televised British singing competition, The X Factor. The chart-topping band has consistently been one of the most requested figure creations by Madame Tussauds’ guests.

“We’re just kind of a bit overwhelmed. We’ve been to Madame Tussauds and seen the kind of people who are in there. It’s crazy to think that we will be up there with them,” commented Harry Styles.

Niall Horan was similarly elated, stating, “We were super excited to find out that they were making us and that people felt we were worthy of a figure.”

MADAME TUSSAUDS LAS VEGAS DEBUTS WORLD’S FIRST HANGOVER WEDDING CHAPEL

Small, Intimate Chapel for Up to 30 People, Inspired by the Blockbuster Comedy, “The Hangover”

Now available only in Las Vegas: the world’s first wedding chapel inspired by “The Hangover.” Jägermeister shots; Elvis as the minister; “Phil” and “Alan” as witnesses for the wedding and more are now available for daring couples looking for a raucous way to say “I do.”  Debuting this month at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas, the chapel can accommodate weddings up to 30 people. This wedding locale is now the centerpiece of the attraction’s newest themed room, The Hangover Experience, based on Warner Bros. Pictures’ “The Hangover.

Before guests enter the chapel, they can meander in the notorious hotel room that includes a roaring tiger in the bathroom (surprise!) and “Phil” (played by Bradley Cooper in the films). Outside the chapel doors awaits Zach Galifianakis as “Alan,” appropriately styled in his iconic “Human Tree” T-shirt, white jeans, sneakers, and of course his famous satchel. Just for good measure, there is also an actual Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department vehicle.

As for the chapel, it is white and can be lit to complete transform into any color of the couple’s choosing. The ceiling drips with chandeliers as they dangle above the white chairs that fill the chapel, along with a podium and flowers at the end of the aisle.

ABOUT THE HANGOVER EXPERIENCE
Created in conjunction with Warner Bros., Madame Tussauds began creating The Hangover Experience in July 2014. As for the “Alan” figure, a team of 20 Madame Tussauds studio artists began creating it in March 2014. They were inspired by his comic demeanor in the film, including his ensemble, as well as his look and mannerisms. The team began the process by researching and incorporating more than 200 measurements for the initial clay mold. Once the clay mold was completed, the artists created a plaster cast, into which they poured a mixture of beeswax and Japan wax. Over the course of six weeks, one artist inserted each strand of hair by hand, sporting up to 10,000 strands. Lastly, acrylic eyes and teeth, as well as lifelike paint were added as the finishing touches.

The Nevada Film Office (NFO) says the film’s influence can still be felt to this day – from guests asking Caesars Palace’s front desk if Caesar indeed slept there, to visitors wanting to see all of the sites featured in the movie. To date, “The Hangover” remains the highest grossing R-rated film of all time with a domestic gross of more than $300 million. According to the NFO, “The Hangover” was shot over 15 days bringing nearly a $4 million economic boost to the area.

Madame Tussauds Launches New Sweepstakes

It was the bachelor party that set a new standard for Las Vegas, and this January, the epic adventure is coming to life. Madame Tussauds Las Vegas will launch its newest themed room: The Hangover Experience complete with the notorious hotel room, a smashed replica of the Las Vegas Metropolitan police car and a wedding chapel. Also making its debut will be Madame Tussauds’ brand new figure of “Alan” (played by Zach Galifianakis in The Hangover films) who will be joining the figure of “Phil” (played by Bradley Cooper in the films). The 1,100-square-foot room, based on Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Hangover, pays homage to the popular comedy trilogy, whose original movie turns five this year.

On Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015 – also known as National Hangover Day – media will be invited to the infamous scenes where the films’ shenanigans took place.  Due to limited space, the event will be invitation-only. The Hangover Experience will officially debut to the general public at 4 p.m. that same day.

The newest wax figure to join the Wolf Pack will be of Zach Galifianakis as “Alan,” appropriately styled in his iconic “Human Tree” T-shirt, white jeans, sneakers and, of course, his famous satchel.

Created in conjunction with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Madame Tussauds began creating The Hangover Experience in July 2014. As for the creation of the “Alan” figure, a team of 20 Madame Tussauds studio artists began creating in March 2014. They were inspired by his comic demeanor in the film including his ensemble, as well as his look and mannerisms.

The team began the process by researching and incorporating more than 200 measurements for the initial clay mold. Once the clay mold was completed, the artists created a plaster cast, into which they poured a mixture of beeswax and Japan wax. Over the course of six weeks, one artist inserted each strand of hair by hand, sporting up to 10,000 strands. Lastly, acrylic eyes and teeth, as well as lifelike paint were added as the finishing touches.

The Nevada Film Office says the film’s influence can still be felt to this day – from guests asking Caesars Palace’s front desk if Caesar indeed slept there, to visitors wanting to see all of the sites featured in the movie. To date, The Hangover remains the highest grossing R-rated film of all time with a domestic gross of $300 million. According to the NFO, The Hangover was shot over 15 days bringing nearly a $4 million economic boost to the area.

Today, poised dramatically above the heads of Las Vegas visitors will be Marvel’s Spider-Man, the newest figure to arrive at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas at The Venetian Las Vegas. The beloved Marvel Super Hero’s debut follows the successful launch of the attraction’s Marvel Super Heroes 4D Experience®. The figure of the iconic web-slinger will spend its first three days in Las Vegas clinging to the side of The Venetian’s Campanile Tower, ready to spring into action. Positioned approximately 35 feet above the ground on the Strip-facing side, near the entrance to Madame Tussauds Las Vegas, the figure will be easily visible by passersby.

After his stint crouching on the side of The Venetian’s Campanile Tower, Spider-Man will join Nick Fury in the exhibition space adjacent to the attraction’s new Marvel Super Heroes 4D Experience. In this new 70-seat theater, guests can watch their favorite Marvel Super Heroes save the world. The pulse-pounding, 4D experience means the action spills out of the screen over the audience with thrill-enhancing special effects—from sprays of water and smoke clouds to tremors beneath viewers’ feet.

The film was created by one of the leaders in CGI feature films and 4D attractions, Threshold Animation Studios. For the theater experience itself, Madame Tussauds Las Vegas worked in partnership with SimEx-Iwerks, which specializes in designing, building and operating special F/X driven cinematic attractions that feature blockbuster content from the world’s major film studios. They build successful partnerships that provide 4D Experience® films and services to more than 150 attractions in 30 countries.

 In conjunction with the grand opening of the brand-new Polaroid Fotobar and The Polaroid Museum at The LINQ, Madame Tussauds Las Vegas is announcing its figure of the iconic artist Andy Warhol will be on view in Las Vegas for the first time beginning April 24. The figure, on loan from Madame Tussauds London, will be on display in Polaroid Fotobar’s new flagship retail shop until Aug. 1. Upstairs will be an exhibition of Warhol’s artwork and artifacts, “Capturing Celebrity,” presented by The Andy Warhol Museum and serving as the centerpiece of The Polaroid Museum. Admission to The Polaroid Museum on April 24 will be FREE from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Famously associated with the declaration, “In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes,” Warhol acquired renown in the art world and beyond for his mass-produced paintings of celebrities. As with all the more than 100 of the celebrity figures on display at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas, located at The Venetian, visitors to the new Polaroid Fotobar are encouraged to get up close and personal with the Warhol figure and take their own photographs with the legendary art star.

“Capturing Celebrity” will feature a collection of 50 of Warhol’s most famous Polaroid photographs, including a number of self-portraits. The exhibit will also feature several celebrity portraits, such as Dennis Hopper, Truman Capote, John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Mick Jagger, Dolly Parton, Farrah Fawcett, Debbie Harry, Giorgio Armani, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Keith Richards, Muhammad Ali and more. Two of Warhol’s personal Polaroid cameras will also be on display.

OPEN DURING CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR’S

Madame Tussauds Las Vegas located at The Venetian will remain open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve (Saturday, Dec. 24), Christmas Day (Sunday, Dec. 25), and New Year’s Day (Sunday, Jan. 1).  The interactive attraction will also be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve (Saturday, Dec. 31).  Las Vegas locals with a valid Nevada I.D. can enjoy $12.50 tickets (half-price) through Feb. 29, 2012 when purchasing two or more adult general admission tickets online at www.madametussauds.com/lasvegas
