 Downtown Las Vegas’ vibrant eatery, La Comida, will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Irish-inspired dishes and drinks available all day on Tuesday, March 17.

Executive Chef Mario Garcia will blend Irish and Mexican flavors with brisket enchiladas, showcasing slow-braised, smoked brisket topped in “lucky” green tomatillo sauce, priced at $16. In true St. Patrick’s Day spirit, the restaurant will offer a special menu of “Lucky 7” drink specials, including $7 leprechaun shots featuring Irish whiskey, peach schnapps, fresh sour mix and lemon-lime soda, $7 green Modelo draft beers and $7 Irish sours, infused with fresh sour mix, Midori, vodka and soda water.

Game nights will be held at the restaurant every Tuesday featuring rounds of trivia competitions, including fill in the blanks, matching questions and free responses, in a variety of topics, hosted by professional comedians. Groups may participate in trivia competitions in teams of one to 10 people. Each week, teams will have the chance to win prizes, by collecting the highest number of points. First place winners will receive a $50 dining credit to La Comida; second place winners will receive La Comida branded t-shirts; and third place winners will receive two pitchers of Modelo. Following the debut performance of his new single at the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards last night, country superstar Chris Stapleton dined at Jenna and Michael Morton’s downtown Las Vegas hotspot, La Comida.

 

Joined by a party of 50 people, Stapleton sipped on La Comida’s signature margaritas and enjoyed chicken tacos, queso fundido and flautas. Stapleton and his guests were in good spirits and enjoyed their evening.

IN HONOR OF MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY

The new La Comida in Downtown Las Vegas will celebrate Mexican Independence Day with a two-day fiesta on Saturday, Sept. 14 and Monday, Sept. 16.

Immediately after the Fiesta Las Vegas Latino Parade & Festival, La Comida will host its first ever weekend brunch, available from noon until 4 p.m. The brunch will include an array of authentic Mexican selections for hungry parade attendees, including Chiles en Nogada, Chilaquiles and Huevos Benedict with Jalapeño Hollandaise. The festive, indoor-outdoor party will continue into the evening with entertainment by Mariachi Mexico, one of Las Vegas’ top mariachi. Drink specials will be served all day Saturday and Monday, and will include $5 Cazadores Margaritas, $15 El Jimador Tequila Flights complete with sangrita made with fresh tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce and lime and the traditional Mexican Tequila Bandera which is made to resemble the Mexican Flag and is comprised of three shots: lime juice, tequila blanco and sangrita.

La Comida, Fremont East District’s stylish cantina, is conveniently located at the corner of Sixth St. and Fremont St. and will be a central rendezvous for guests enjoying the Fiesta Las Vegas Latino Parade & Festival.

La Comida has ignited the burgeoning Downtown Las Vegas dining scene with a menu inspired by the cosmopolitan fare of Mexico City. The latest creation by the Morton Group, led by restaurateurs Jenna and Michael Morton, La Comida blends authenticity and tradition with a delightfully funky vibe. The front of the restaurant faces Sixth Street with an old-school overhanging ‘La Comida’ sign stretching across the sidewalk beneath a 7-foot sculptured metal monkey clinging to the rooftop corner, whose bones flash in pink neon. The main room is accented with wood floors, reclaimed tiles from Mexico, authentic church pews and stained glass from old church windows.
