The Mob Museum to Host “Remembering 9/11: An Evening of Reflection and Recognition,” Wed., Sept. 12

THE MOB MUSEUM TO HOST “REMEMBERING 9/11: AN EVENING OF REFLECTION
AND RECOGNITION,” WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 12

On Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 6 p.m., The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, will welcome first responders from the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York for “Remembering 9/11: An Evening of Reflection and Recognition.” Held in partnership with the NW 9/11 Memorial and Reception Committee, this private reception will also include local law enforcement, fire and rescue personnel, Museum Board Members, Advisory Council Members, donors and city officials. Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas will serve as sponsors of the evening.

First responders played a critical role in rescue and recovery. For those on the front lines, many continue to deal with the physical and emotional effects of the event.

The nation’s safety and security policies and practices drastically changed as a result of 9/11. New York’s law enforcement and first-responder communities have been incubators for many emergent ideas and new practices. This event will not only honor first-responders, including law enforcement, but also shed light on practices and their application today.

Sept. 11 first responders present that evening will include Sgt. Greg Harper, New York Police Department (NYPD); Marna Rann, a former (NYPD) officer; Konstantinos Skamalos, a paramedic who was on the scene on Sept. 11, 2001; and Peter Borriello, Fire Department, City of New York (FDNY), EMS lieutenant. Also attending will be Michael Greco, vice president, FDNY Local 2507.

Following an introduction of the guests of honor and brief discussion about their 9/11 experiences, attendees will have the opportunity to make connections and enjoy camaraderie with one another.
