An accomplished performer, White has appeared in theaters and entertainment venues around the world. His additional accolades include performing for First Lady Nancy Reagan, singing the National Anthem at dozens of high-profile sporting events and appearing with Bob Hope for the American Legion.

Grammy Award-Winning Pop Star Sheena Easton to Perform at the Suncoast Showroom March 5-6

Sheena Easton

Sheena Easton, the Scottish-born pop diva who rose to prominence in the 1980s, will perform at the Suncoast Showroom March 5-6.

Easton scored a record deal with British music company EMI Group Limited after appearing on the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reality series “The Big Time” in 1980. The appearance also boosted her debut singles “Modern Girl” and “Morning Train (Nine to Five)” into the top 10 on the United Kingdom charts. Easton found success in the United States the following year when “Morning Train (Nine to Five)” peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with “Modern Girl” finding its way onto the same chart a few months later.

Following her success on the Billboard charts, Easton took home the 1981 Grammy Award for Best New Artist. To date, Easton has been nominated for six Grammy Awards. She also has one Platinum and five Gold albums.

Since her explosion onto the music scene in the ‘80s, Easton has recorded 16 studio albums and has released 45 singles worldwide, with 19 singles including “What Comes Naturally,” “The Lover in Me,” “We’ve Got Tonight” and James Bond theme song “For Your Eyes Only,” which landed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Though she is best known for her contributions to the ‘80s pop charts, Easton also found success across multiple Billboard charts in the ‘80s with “Morning Train (Nine to Five)” on Adult Contemporary, “We’ve Got Tonight” featuring Kenny Rogers on Country, “Telefone (Long Distance Love Affair)” on Dance and “Sugar Walls” on Rhythm & Blues (R&B).

In addition to her success on the charts, Easton has toured all around the world, including Canada, China, Thailand, Singapore and Japan.

English New-Wave Band A Flock of Seagulls Lands at the Suncoast Showroom Jan. 9

Legendary 1980s synth-pop rock group, A Flock of Seagulls, with original frontman Mike Score, will perform at the Suncoast Showroom Jan. 9.

Score, a former hairdresser, started A Flock of Seagulls with his brother Ali in Liverpool in 1979. They took the band’s name from a lyric in “Toiler on the Sea,” a song written by the popular ‘70s English punk-rock band The Stranglers.

In 1981, A Flock of Seagulls released its debut EP that featured the single “Telecommunication,” which became an underground hit on the European new-age club scene. In 1982, the band found success in the United States with its Billboard Hot 100 hit “I Ran (So Far Away).” The music video contributed to the band’s popularity, featuring Mike Score and what is now known as one of the most iconic hairstyles of the 1980s.

Following its Billboard debut, A Flock of Seagulls returned with its sophomore album “Listen” in 1983, which contained another Billboard Hot 100 hit “Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You).” In the same year, the band charted once again with the single “Space Age Love Song.”

Mike Score is pursuing a solo career in addition to touring as lead vocals and keyboardist for A Flock of Seagulls. He released the singles “All I Wanna Do” and “Somebody Like You,” from “Zeebratta,” his debut solo album that was released in March 2014.

Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $20 plus taxes and fees and can be purchased at any Boyd Gaming box office by calling 702.284.7777 or by visiting www.suncoastcasino.com.

Country Trio Trick Pony Rides into the Suncoast Showroom Dec. 5

Country Trio Trick Pony Rides into the Suncoast Showroom Dec. 5

Trick Pony
Nashville-based country band Trick Pony brings its 1970s-influenced outlaw country-rock performance to the Suncoast Showroom Dec. 5.

Trick Pony was formed in 1996 by guitarist Keith Burns and bassist Ira Dean. The two crossed paths five years prior while working as backing musicians for country music stars Joe Diffie and Tanya Tucker. Burns and Dean decided to form a group that was comprised of two men and a woman. Soon after, Burns and Dean welcomed singer, guitarist and harmonica player Heidi Newfield to the group.

The group spent several years perfecting its sound by playing in clubs across the southern United States. In 2000, the group signed a record deal with Warner Bros. Records and released its self-titled debut album. The album’s first single, “Pour Me,” peaked at #12 on Billboard’s Hot Country chart. The group’s first album also yielded two additional charting singles, “On a Night Like This” and “Just What I Do,” and was certified gold within a year of its release.

On the heels of its initial success, the trio released “On a Mission” in 2002, and found itself in the top-20 on the “Billboard 200” with the album’s title track. The group went on to release its third album, “R.I.D.E. (Rebellious Individuals Delivering Entertainment)” in 2005, four months before Newfield left the band to pursue a solo career.

Newfield was replaced by Aubrey Collins, a singer-songwriter who had previously appeared on ABC’s “The One: Making a Music Star.” The group disbanded in 2008 after Collins’ departure. In 2013, the original band members reunited for a benefit concert in Boston and toured together until Dean departed for a solo career in 2014.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and tickets start from $20.18 plus tax and fees. Tickets can be purchased at any Boyd Gaming box office by calling 702.284.7777 or visiting www.suncoastcasino.com.

The performance by Trick Pony complements Boyd Gaming’s significant involvement in hosting events during Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR), including its inaugural three-day rodeo event, CINCH Boyd Gaming Chute-Out at the Orleans Arena; fan-favorite events National Finals Tonight show and Gary Leffew’s Legendary Buck’N Ball at The Orleans Hotel and Casino; Bob Tallman Celebrity Bowling Tournament at Gold Coast Hotel and Casino; and Roxy’s Buckin’ Bull Honky Tonk at Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall.
