Harry Connick Jr., Kris Kristofferson, Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Vince Gill & More Celebrate George Jones 50 Years Of Hits Sun, Jun 9 On AXS TV

HARRY CONNICK JR., KRIS KRISTOFFERSON, AARON NEVILLE, ALAN JACKSON, KENNY CHESNEY, VINCE GILL, EMMYLOU HARRIS, MARTINA MCBRIDE, WYNONNA, TANYA TUCKER AND MORE CELEBRATE GEORGE JONES 50 YEARS OF HITS AIRING SUNDAY, JUNE 9 ON AXS TV

‘George Jones: The Grand Tour Celebrating His Ultimate No Show’ Coming Soon!

George Jones, the definitive country singer of the last half-century, was a member of The Country Music Hall of Fame and The Grand Ole Opry, received the coveted Kennedy Center Honor and was the recipient of the Grammy Lifetime Achievement award. Now on Sunday, June 9, Trace Adkins, Kenny Chesney, Harry Connick, Jr., Joe Diffie, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Emmylou Harris, Alan Jackson, Sammy Kershaw, Uncle Kracker, Kris Kristofferson, Shelby Lynne, Martina McBride, Lorrie Morgan, Aaron Neville, Connie Smith, Trick Pony, Randy Travis, Tanya Tucker and Wynonna will celebrate George’s 50 Years Of Hits in an all-star celebration airing on AXS TV at 9pm ET and 12am ET.

Jones’ career never left the top of the country charts having recorded more than 100 albums during his career and more than 150 of those songs were hits, including 60 Top 10 singles. His songs including “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” “Tennessee Whiskey,” Still Doin’ Time,” “A Good Year For The Roses,” “She Thinks I Still Care,” and so many others are covers every bar band performs on a nightly basis.

Jones was often referred to as The Possum, for his facial features and the shape of his nose, or No Show Jones, for his sudden disappearing act before a show. However, when Jones finally did take the stage he was a hardcore honky tonker that sang songs about heartbreak and hard drinking times that echoed his own turbulent life. By most accounts, George Jones was the finest vocalist in the recorded history of country music.

Friday, October 28 – Trick Pony
·     Trick Pony became one of the most talked about new acts in country music in 2001 cranking out hits including their self-penned debut single and still ever catchy “Pour Me,” “On A Night Like This” and more. After a musical hiatus in December of 2006, Trick Pony reformed as a duo in 2014, where they have been steadily building a new full-length album bringing back an enhanced and current version of what put the group on the map in the first place.

Friday, November 4 – Montgomery Gentry

Country Trio Trick Pony Rides into the Suncoast Showroom Dec. 5

Trick Pony
Nashville-based country band Trick Pony brings its 1970s-influenced outlaw country-rock performance to the Suncoast Showroom Dec. 5.

Trick Pony was formed in 1996 by guitarist Keith Burns and bassist Ira Dean. The two crossed paths five years prior while working as backing musicians for country music stars Joe Diffie and Tanya Tucker. Burns and Dean decided to form a group that was comprised of two men and a woman. Soon after, Burns and Dean welcomed singer, guitarist and harmonica player Heidi Newfield to the group.

The group spent several years perfecting its sound by playing in clubs across the southern United States. In 2000, the group signed a record deal with Warner Bros. Records and released its self-titled debut album. The album’s first single, “Pour Me,” peaked at #12 on Billboard’s Hot Country chart. The group’s first album also yielded two additional charting singles, “On a Night Like This” and “Just What I Do,” and was certified gold within a year of its release.

On the heels of its initial success, the trio released “On a Mission” in 2002, and found itself in the top-20 on the “Billboard 200” with the album’s title track. The group went on to release its third album, “R.I.D.E. (Rebellious Individuals Delivering Entertainment)” in 2005, four months before Newfield left the band to pursue a solo career.

Newfield was replaced by Aubrey Collins, a singer-songwriter who had previously appeared on ABC’s “The One: Making a Music Star.” The group disbanded in 2008 after Collins’ departure. In 2013, the original band members reunited for a benefit concert in Boston and toured together until Dean departed for a solo career in 2014.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and tickets start from $20.18 plus tax and fees. Tickets can be purchased at any Boyd Gaming box office by calling 702.284.7777 or visiting www.suncoastcasino.com.

The performance by Trick Pony complements Boyd Gaming’s significant involvement in hosting events during Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR), including its inaugural three-day rodeo event, CINCH Boyd Gaming Chute-Out at the Orleans Arena; fan-favorite events National Finals Tonight show and Gary Leffew’s Legendary Buck’N Ball at The Orleans Hotel and Casino; Bob Tallman Celebrity Bowling Tournament at Gold Coast Hotel and Casino; and Roxy’s Buckin’ Bull Honky Tonk at Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall.
