‘George Jones: The Grand Tour Celebrating His Ultimate No Show’ Coming Soon!

George Jones, the definitive country singer of the last half-century, was a member of The Country Music Hall of Fame and The Grand Ole Opry, received the coveted Kennedy Center Honor and was the recipient of the Grammy Lifetime Achievement award. Jones’ career never left the top of the country charts having recorded more than 100 albums during his career and more than 150 of those songs were hits, including 60 Top 10 singles. His songs including “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” “Tennessee Whiskey,” Still Doin’ Time,” “A Good Year For The Roses,” “She Thinks I Still Care,” and so many others are covers every bar band performs on a nightly basis.

Jones was often referred to as The Possum, for his facial features and the shape of his nose, or No Show Jones, for his sudden disappearing act before a show. However, when Jones finally did take the stage he was a hardcore honky tonker that sang songs about heartbreak and hard drinking times that echoed his own turbulent life. By most accounts, George Jones was the finest vocalist in the recorded history of country music.

In recognition of 47 years in the entertainment business, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr., the original stars and lead singers of the legendary group The 5th Dimension, will bring their hits to The Orleans Showroom on February 14 and 15.

McCoo and Davis have experienced success through the years as recording artists, performers and authors. Throughout their careers, McCoo and Davis have received seven Grammy awards, earned 15 gold and three platinum records, and starred in roles on both television and stage.

Hosted by Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, AMERICAN COUNTRY COUNTDOWN AWARDS is based on country music’s longest-running radio countdown show, “American Country Countdown with Kix Brooks,” and will honor country music’s biggest stars based on album sales and radio airplay. Lady Antebellum recently released their fifth studio album, 747. The 11-song disc has already spawned the platinum certified, multi-week chart-topping smash hit “Bartender,” and its new single “Freestyle” is quickly climbing the charts. They have sold over 11 million albums worldwide, and have made nine trips to number one on the country radio charts. They’ve earned six Platinum singles and “Vocal Group of the Year” honors from both the CMAs and ACMs three years in a row. GEORGIA ON MY MIND: Celebrating the Music of Ray Charles was welcomed by The Venetian Las Vegas with a star-studded event coinciding with the birthday of Ray Charles. The groundbreaking new show features a host of esteemed stars including Emmy award-winner Clint Holmes, 10-time GRAMMY award-winning vocal group TAKE 6, six-time GRAMMY nominee and DownBeat artist of the year Nnenna Freelon, and Stella Gospel Award and GRAMMY award-winning saxophone star Kirk Whalum. The show also features the Las Vegas Mass Choir, under the direction of James R. Smith and Edie Aikels, and features the Las Vegas All-Star Big Band, under the direction of pianist and conductor, David Loeb.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee George Clinton and  GRAMMY Award-winning artist T-Pain will headline the 13th Annual Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational (MJCI) Celebration in Las Vegas with a private performance at ARIA Resort & Casino Friday, April 4 for the tournament’s celebrities and VIP invited guests.

An innovator of funk music, Clinton has been performing for more than 50 years and is the founder of the funk, soul and rock music group Parliament-Funkadelic (P-Funk). Known for his hits “Atomic Dog” and “Bring The Funk,” the multi-talented artist will perform decades of fan favorites.

T-Pain will join Clinton on stage for a unique multi-genre collaboration unlike any other. Currently touring following the release of his fifth studio album, T-Pain’s numerous chart-topping hits include, “Buy U A Drank,” “5 O’Clock,” “Bartender,” and “Can’t Believe It,” along with collaborations such as Survivor’s “I’m On A Boat,” Kanye West’s “Good Life,” Jaime Foxx’s “Blame It,” and

NASCAR Drivers Making a Pit Stop for Charity at Riviera Hotel & Casino           

Special events planned for Mar. 8 – 11 with top NASCAR drivers are open to the public


Race fans are converging on Las Vegas and the Riviera Hotel & Casino is hosting a series of events as part of NASCAR March Race Weekend, Mar. 8 – 11. The weekend officially begins on Thursday, Mar. 8, with a slot tournament benefiting the Kyle Busch Foundation. A group of drivers are signing autographs for fans on Friday, Mar. 9. NASCAR fans can also get an up close and personal look at Casey Mears’ GEICO Sprint Cup Car, on display on the casino floor during race weekend.   
 
The Kyle Busch Foundation Slot Tournament begins at 4:30 p.m. on Mar. 8. Guests who earn their way into the finals will face off with Kyle Busch. The top three point earners receive an autographed die-cast car, special trophy and get their photo taken with Kyle and his wife, Samantha. Entry into the Slot Tournament is $118, or $99 for Kyle Busch Fan Club Members. Half of the proceeds benefit the Kyle Busch Foundation and the other half goes into the prize pool. Nationwide and Sprint Cup drivers from various teams will be on-hand on Friday, Mar. 9, at 8 p.m. for an autograph session. Tournament Offers Access to Exclusive Shadow Creek Golf Course

 

The 11th Annual Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational (MJCI), hosted by ARIA Resort &Casinoat Shadow Creek, returns to Las Vegas for the second consecutive year March 29-April 1, 2012. Tickets are now on sale for one of celebrity golf’s most popular events, giving fans the opportunity to watch four days of competition with some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment.

Since its inception in 2001, the tournament has raised nearly $6 million for charities including Make-A-Wish Foundation, Nevada Cancer Institute, James R. Jordan Foundation and Cats Care, the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats’ charity arm. The first of two rounds of the Celebrity-Amateur tournament, which pairs one celebrity with four amateur participants, will take place Thursday, March 29 at Shadow Creek. The final round of the Celebrity-Amateur will take place Friday, March 30.

The MJCI two-person, 36-hole scramble format tournament begins Saturday, March 31 and includes only the competing celebrities. The second and final round of the MJCI will be played Sunday, April 1. Additional festivities and special events surrounding the Saturday and Sunday competition, as well as celebrity participants, will be announced in the near future.
