The Plaza Hotel & Casino to welcome guests beginning June 4

Reopening to offer curbside check-in, free self-parking for all, brand new casino bathrooms, revamped bingo room and enhanced safety protocols

The iconic Plaza Hotel & Casino located in the heart of downtown Las Vegas will reopen to hotel and casino guests on Thursday, June 4 in accordance with all federal, state and local government guidelines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“The last three months have been a difficult time for the Plaza, Las Vegas, and our country as a whole,” said Plaza Hotel & Casino CEO Jonathan Jossel. “People are yearning to get back to living their lives, including relaxing by the pool and playing on the casino floor. While we recognize the experience will be different than before, it is the start of bringing back fun and entertainment to people’s lives – now, during these stressful times, when they need it most. So, we are very excited to welcome guests back to the Plaza and bring back the vintage Vegas vibe that our guests deserve and have come to expect.”

As part of the Plaza’s reopening plan submitted to the Nevada Gaming Control Board, the property will require all staff to wear masks, have their temperature taken before starting work, enter via a designated location, and observe social distancing. Guests will also be encouraged to wear masks (although not required) and receive an amenity kit at check-in with a complimentary mask for their use.

All hotel and casino guests can now self-park for free, and valet parking has been closed. Curbside check-in has been added to minimize contact, and guests will enter the property through a limited number of doors that will operate automatically or be set open manually. Quick-serve dining outlets, such as Pop Up Pizza and Coffee Bar will also reopen.

Elevators will be limited to four people at a time, and social distancing will be observed in all public spaces, including on the rooftop pool deck and casino floor through the removal of chairs at table games and reconfiguring of slot machines.

The Plaza will utilize enhanced disinfecting protocols for all public touchpoints, including doors, tables, chairs, kiosks, room keys, and gaming equipment. Vending machines, including ice machines, will be turned off until all restrictions have been lifted.

During the closure, the Plaza completed a deep cleaning of the entire property and fully renovated the casino bathrooms. Physical modifications were also made including the installation of plexiglass barrier at the registration desk and numerous touchless hand sanitizer stations for use by staff and guests.

On June 4, the Plaza’s Bingo room, the only one in downtown Las Vegas will again offer six daily bingo sessions. Popular with locals and tourists alike, the Bingo room at the Plaza is uniquely located two floors above the main casino. By parking on the third floor of the Plaza’s self-parking garage, guests have convenient and direct access to the Plaza’s bingo room without having to walk through the casino floor.

The Bingo room at the Plaza will reopen with a special offer: Blue Packs pay $75 and the Blue Coverall pays $300. The Plaza will also continue to offer the Bingo Millions Megaprogressive games, electronic specials, Hotball Jackpot and Cashball Bonus. For a limited time, players will be able to purchase the Million Dollar Coverall at 47 numbers or less. Any player with a Plaza Rewards Players Club card is also eligible for Sizzling Summer Bingo Match Play which offers $75 daily Bingo match play every day in June, July & August (three $25 match plays per day and one $25 Bingo match play per session; more details available at the Plaza Bingo room).

To celebrate the reopening, the Plaza is offering a special Old School Fun getaway package offering guests who book by Aug. 31 for a stay before Dec. 29 the lowest available room rates, $25 daily food and beverage credit, $75 daily bingo match play and $10 free slot play as well as complimentary hotel room upgrade and early check-in / late check-out (both based on availability).

Bank of Nevada Announces $415,000 Donation to Support Nevada Communities Impacted by COVID-19

Part of $2 Million Contribution from Parent Company Western Alliance Bank

Bank of Nevada today announced it is committing more than $415,000 to help mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 global pandemic on local communities across Nevada and strengthen those communities as they work to emerge from the crisis.

Contributions in southern Nevada will help address shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE) for first responders, acquire additional COVID-19 tests and testing equipment, address food insecurity, invest in technology to aid online learning, help businesses avoid layoffs, and provide assistance to some of the most vulnerable in the communities Bank of Nevada serves.

These funds are part of an overall contribution of $2 million from Western Alliance Bancorporation (NYSE:WAL), the Phoenix-based parent company of Bank of Nevada, for community needs in Nevada, Arizona and California. The $415,000 donation encompasses all support given to organizations within the State of Nevada on behalf of Bank of Nevada and First Independent Bank.

“We are proud to help our community respond to the many challenges caused by COVID-19, and Bank of Nevada wants to make a difference in meeting immediate needs, as well as offering longer-term support for organizations that help strengthen our workforce, provide affordable housing and create economic resilience,” said John Guedry, Division CEO, Bank of Nevada.

In southern Nevada, funded organizations include:

  • The COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund, supported by the Nevada COVID-19 Response, Relief and Recovery Task Force in partnership with Nevada Community Foundation. Funding will assist first responders and healthcare providers in support of Nevada’s response, relief and recovery efforts with additional focus on Nevada’s skilled nursing, assisted living and senior housing facilities.
  • Workforce Connections – Layoff Aversion Pilot, an initiative, to reimburse small businesses in southern Nevada for a portion of employee wages.
  • United Way of Southern Nevada, particularly its support for families and individuals dealing with food insecurity.
  • The Public Education Foundation, supporting purchases for online learning devices to benefit students of The Clark County School District, as well as assist in providing training for educators in digital instruction.
  • Delivering with Dignity, a program of the Moonridge Foundation, providing restaurant meals delivered by volunteers to home-bound seniors. This donation is made in memory of Fred Meier who recently passed, and is the father of Moonridge Foundation CEO Julie Murray.

“Our communities face unprecedented health and economic challenges from the coronavirus,” said Kenneth Vecchione, President and Chief Executive Officer of Western Alliance Bank. “We are a people-first organization, and that we are able to help others – from firefighters and front-line healthcare workers to small businesses and hungry families who need support right now – is meaningful to all of us.”

The bank’s $2 million commitment also supports longer-term efforts to strengthen communities and create resilience for low- and moderate-income families, including programs to prevent homelessness, provide continuum of care, and bolster affordable housing and economic development.

“It means a great deal to us that Bank of Nevada sees the work United Way of Southern Nevada is doing and the value we are providing to our community and trusts us to distribute these funds to those who are most in need,” said Kyle B. Rahn, President & CEO, United Way of Southern Nevada. “We are honored to have their support of our Emergency Assistance and Community Needs Fund to help Southern Nevada’s most vulnerable residents.”

“The Public Education Foundation is proud to partner with Bank of Nevada to equip our students with the essential technology they need for distance learning while schools are closed,” said Judi Steele, Chief Executive Officer of The Public Education Foundation. “We applaud Bank of Nevada for its continued commitment to Nevada’s non-profit organizations in supporting children and families.”

With Las Vegas Ties, Avidium Labs & NXT Group Develop COVID-19 Quick-Results Testing Kit

Avidium Labs and NXT Group Announce COVID-19 Rapid IgG/IgM Blood Test Kits
Results Determined in Minutes and Validated with U.S. Laboratories

Avidium Labs, in partnership with NXT Group, have introduced a rapid IgG/IgM antibody test kit for SARS-CoV-2 also known as COVID-19. The test kit has been validated at company’s international partner facility and with U.S.-based laboratories in New York and California.

Evan Louie, Chief Executive Officer of Avidium Labs, stated, “We are excited to announce the news to the American public and the world. We have taken additional measures to further validate our results in CLIA-certified and full laboratories within the U.S. Our team is diligently working on getting our tests to a wide range of healthcare providers such as physician offices, hospitals, and government agencies for rapid results. Avidium labs has already started shipping tens of thousands of their IgG/IgM kits in the U.S. We have the capacity to manufacture more than 150,000 of our kits per week and have started receiving orders for shipment.”

Avidium Labs has partnered with SUNY Downstate Health Science University – University Hospital of Brooklyn in collaboration with Mirimus laboratory. The validation was performed on moderate to severe hospitalized patients. The research team is under the directorship of Dr. Prem Premsrirut and includes Dr. Rachelle Mendoza, Dr. Allen Norin, and Dr. Jenny Libien working with the company’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Brian Thomas Le. The test kit utilizes a small blood sample that can instantaneously produce results in less than 10 minutes.

SUNY Downstate in New York is currently recognized in the national media as a COVID-19 only facility and has the highest rate of infection per zip code in the U.S. New York is the global epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak with more than 200,000 confirmed cases and over 12,000 deaths. Avidium Lab’s results verified by the laboratories demonstrate a high efficacy in detecting IgG/IgM antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 in serum, plasma, or whole blood samples.

Avidium Labs and NXT Group IgG/IgM test kits are a serology test that can identify the antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the patient’s blood. This can help to understand if one has ever been exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. If implemented on a large scale, this serology test would give us a better understanding of the prevalence and fatality rate of the disease.

The serology test can identify people whose bodies have some degree of immune response to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It can potentially be used to track immunity to SARS-CoV-2. It demonstrates a high efficacy in detecting antibodies against SARS-CoV-2.

Avidium Labs’ international partners conducted a comparative study of the rapid IgG/IgM antibody test kit for SARS-CoV-2 against other commercially available SARS-CoV-2 IgG/IgM detection test kits that show a positive coincidence rate of 97.92% and a negative coincidence rate of 100%.

NXT Group in its partnership with Avidium Labs has already submitted an application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for both notification and on the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) track.

  • A portion of the proceeds from the limited edition t-shirt and decal to benefit the Coronavirus Response Fund for Nurses
  • “We are Strong Together” celebrates courage and resiliency

The Carroll Shelby Foundation has launched an initiative through Carroll Shelby’s Store to raise money for nurses on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic. A portion of the proceeds from the Shelby “We are Strong Together” t-shirt and decal will go to the Carroll Shelby Foundation to benefit the Coronavirus Response Fund for Nurses. Founded by the American Nurses Association, this program provides direct financial assistance to nurses who contract the virus.

“Throughout his life, Carroll Shelby appreciated the many nurses who helped him recover from the injuries he endured as a driver and from two major organ transplants,” said Neil Cummings, Co-President of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. “He credited much of his resiliency to their care. Today, nurses are giving the same great care to those battling COVID-19. So the Carroll Shelby Foundation and Carroll Shelby’s Store joined forces to benefit a fund that will support them.”

This Shelby “We are Strong Together” cotton charcoal heather t-shirt and decal proudly display the American flag, an outline of this great nation with the Shelby logo. The graphic symbolizes that like Carroll Shelby, the community can overcome the current health crisis by working together.

The American Nurses Association is the premier organization representing the interests of the nation’s 4 million registered nurses. ANA is at the forefront of improving the quality of health care for all. Founded in 1896, and with members in all 50 states and U.S. territories, ANA is the strongest voice for the profession.

“The ANA is a wonderful organization dedicated to helping nurses reach their full potential,” said Aaron Shelby, Co-President of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. “They created a Coronavirus Response Fund for Nurses to enable the public to provide care for nurses. This national effort was kicked off with a grant from Johnson & Johnson and is now giving Shelby enthusiasts a way to help through this fund. In honor of Carroll, let’s rally around these heroes on the front lines of the COVID-19 battle.”

The national fund will address the emerging needs of nurses and focus on:

  • Providing direct financial assistance to nurses
  • Supporting the mental health of nurses today and in the future
  • Ensuring nurses everywhere have access to the latest science-based information to protect themselves, prevent infection and care for those in need
  • Driving the national advocacy focused on nurses and patients

The football star and iconic entertainer has channeled his musical talents into the song, which will be available on iTunes, Spotify, Pandora and other outlets. Co-written by country singer Jimmy Yeary, “Quarantine Crazy” playfully chronicles the plight of the current “safer-at-home” quarantine mandates.

“After weeks of staying home and social distancing, I think we can all relate to feeling a bit ‘Quarantine Crazy’,” said Bradshaw. “However, it is more important than ever to remain home and stay safe. We will all get on the other side of this soon, but in the meantime, I hope this song brings a smile to your faces.”

Life is Beautiful Festival Will Not Take Place In 2020

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL FESTIVAL WILL NOT TAKE PLACE IN 2020

Organization Moves to Address Community Needs Through New Initiatives in 2020; Festival to Return in 2021

Life is Beautiful, the three-day music, arts, culinary and comedy festival held each fall in Downtown Las Vegas, will forego its outdoor festival format in 2020 in order to put its resources towards supporting the Las Vegas community.

In an open letter to fans, Life is Beautiful stated: “We were more excited than ever to share the vision of this year’s festival with you. Instead, this moment has given us the opportunity to pause and assess what is truly important. It has given us the space to reflect and to grow, to refocus on our work, and to find new ways to give back to our community beyond the three days of the festival.”

The Life is Beautiful team said that several factors stemming from the COVID-19 crisis led to the decision.

“It’s clear the health and economic hardships from the COVID-19 crisis will impact us all for some time to come,” festival organizer Justin Weniger said. “In light of this, we made the determination to re-examine the role Life is Beautiful plays in the community and how we can put our resources, creativity and time into doing what we always set out to do: inspire and bring together a community.”

Driven by a collective passion for creating holistic experiences which aid in positive community transformation, Life is Beautiful is working to create new initiatives that will impact supporters on a local, national and global scale, in addition to making a full return with the festival in 2021.

“From the beginning, Life is Beautiful has been a year-round, aspirational mantra that materializes into a festival that unites visitors from around the world,” Weniger said. “For this year, that festival won’t happen but there has never been a more important time to remind us all that life is indeed beautiful. That is what we are going to do, in ways large and small.”

About Life is Beautiful

Life is Beautiful was born in 2013 as part of the major transformation of Downtown Las Vegas as a cultural hub and has since contributed over $350M of economic impact and cultural capital to the area. During the three-day festival, premier musical acts, experiential artists, comedians, thinkers and culinary talent flow into the urban streets of DTLV, in addition to the festival’s 175,000 attendees. What started as an event has become something more: a symbol of connection, joy and creativity. Life is Beautiful continues to be driven by its core mission to create a holistic experience which aids in positive community transformation and individual empowerment by collectivizing and inspiring through shared experiences driven by art and culture.

The PGA TOUR had previously targeted the week of the Charles Schwab Challenge (May 18-24) as the restart of the TOUR season, which has been suspended since THE PLAYERS Championship was canceled on Thursday, March 12. For health and safety reasons due to COVID-19, today’s announcement delays that timeline three weeks – to June 8, starting with the Charles Schwab Challenge – with additional tournaments being repositioned between then and the season’s conclusion, which is the TOUR Championship, ending on Labor Day (September 7).

At this time, the TOUR plans to resume play with the first four events closed to the general public but will continue to monitor the situation and follow the recommendations of local and state authorities in order to determine the most appropriate on-site access in each market. As such, the TOUR will continually review available COVID-19-related protocols that could be implemented at PGA TOUR events to ensure the health and well-being for all involved.

All three events that were previously scheduled between May 18 and June 8 – the Charles Schwab Challenge, Rocket Mortgage Classic and the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide – have been moved to later dates in the calendar.

The RBC Heritage, originally slated for this week (April 13-19) but canceled on March 17, has been added back to the PGA TOUR schedule in the week formerly occupied by the U.S. Open, which – as previously announced – has been postponed to September.

The RBC Canadian Open, originally scheduled for the week of June 8, has been canceled. Click here for a statement from the RBC Canadian Open. The Barbasol Championship, originally scheduled for July 13-19 opposite The Open Championship, has been canceled. The Open Championship was canceled on April 6.

Three invitationals on the updated schedule, the Charles Schwab Challenge (120 players), RBC Heritage (132 players) and the Memorial Tournament (120 players), will see their respective field sizes increase to 144 to provide additional playing opportunities for PGA TOUR members.

Summary of PGA TOUR events from 2019-20 schedule affected by date changes or cancellations:

With the health and safety of all associated with the PGA TOUR tournaments being of utmost importance, the TOUR will be working with its media partners on production plans upon the restart to the season. CBS is scheduled to televise the Charles Schwab Challenge through THE NORTHERN TRUST (11 consecutive events, inclusive of PGA Championship), and NBC is scheduled to televise the BMW Championship and TOUR Championship, culminating on Labor Day Monday.

2020-21 PGA TOUR Season:

Additionally, the TOUR today introduced the season-opening weeks of the 2020-21 PGA TOUR Season, which now has 13 FedExCup events, including – as announced on April 6 by the USGA and Augusta National Golf Club, respectively – the U.S. Open and Masters Tournament.

“This portion of our 2020-21 schedule is possible only because of the many partners who have worked tirelessly to grow their events and impact the lives of those in need in their respective communities, and our players, who have embraced the expanded fall schedule in recent years,” said PGA TOUR Chief Tournaments and Competitions Officer Andy Pazder. “We’d like to express our appreciation to the leadership of the Safeway Open, Houston Open and Mayakoba Golf Classic – which will conclude our calendar year schedule in Riviera Maya,

Mexico – for their flexibility, which allowed for the U.S. Open and Masters Tournament to be played in the fall. The accommodations will help the global golf community maximize the 2020 calendar, which will be incredibly impactful for our fans and put us in a strong position heading into 2021.”

After 10 years, A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier will no longer be on the PGA TOUR’s schedule, as per a mutual agreement by The Greenbrier and the PGA TOUR.

“We are very grateful to Governor Jim Justice and his Greenbrier Resort for a highly successful 10 years of partnership with the PGA TOUR,” said Pazder. “Governor Justice’s vision and leadership helped shine a light on the men and women that serve our country through the military and first responder programs he implemented through the tournament, and The Greenbrier Resort was an incredibly unique and world-class venue that our players will always remember and cherish.”

FOR THE FIRST TIME, THE MOB MUSEUM RELEASES THREE-PART VIRTUAL GUIDED TOUR ENCOMPASSING ALL FOUR FLOORS OF EXHIBITS

New Virtual Tours Available Here

For the first time since opening in 2012, The Mob Museum, The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, introduces virtual, guided tours highlighting its most popular exhibitions and artifacts. These tours offer enriching and entertaining ways to enjoy the Museum during its temporary closure due to COVID-19.

“This virtual tour provides a great taste of what our Museum’s exhibition spaces have to offer,” says Geoff Schumacher, vice president of exhibits and programs. “Of course, there is so much more to see when we resume operations.”

The new, virtual tour is split into three parts, following the itinerary guests take when physically visiting the Museum:

  • Birth of the Mob: Starting with the Museum’s historic postal boxes in the building’s lobby, make your way up to the third floor, where you’ll learn about the rise of organized crime, the history of Prohibition and the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, which took place in the north side of Chicago with seven members of George “Bugs” Moran’s bootlegging gang.
  • The Mob and Las Vegas: From the Kefauver Committee hearings in our historic courtroom to the Frank “Lefty” Rosenthal car bombing, take a virtual tour of the Mob’s rise in Las Vegas and the responses of law enforcement to the scourge of organized crime in the Museum’s second-floor exhibits.
  • The Mob in Politics and Culture: Journey through the Museum’s newest exhibits on the first floor covering wiretapping, modern organized crime and the Mob on TV, and end your virtual tour in The Underground, where you’ll learn more about Prohibition in our fully immersive speakeasy and distillery.

For additional virtual educational and entertainment resources, visit The Mob Museum’s website, its blog for fresh and timely content, as well as its Mobile App for easy access to more digital Museum information as well as the entertaining “Doppelgangster” feature, which matches users with their Mob history lookalike drawn from a database of more than 800 organized crime and law enforcement figures.

KITCHEN TABLE AND KITCHEN TABLE SQUARED IMPLEMENT A ‘KIDS EAT FREE’ POLICY IN LIGHT OF COVID-19 CONCERNS

Kids Will Eat Free at Both Locations Indefinitely

Kitchen Table located in Henderson and Kitchen Table Squared located at The Gramercy are implementing a kids eat free policy indefinitely in light of recent COVID-19 concerns. Both locations will begin the program starting Thursday, March 19th.

“I felt it was my duty to supply my diners with the tools that they need to survive during these trying times,” said Javier Chavez, Executive Chef and Owner. “Nobody is working right now and people may not know how they are going to carry on, especially when caring for children. It’s my duty to give back to my Kitchen Table family just like they’ve given so much to me.”

Kids 12 and under will  eat for free when utilizing their in-house delivery service ($5 flat fee within a 7 mile radius). Menu items include pancakes, waffles, the All American (2 eggs, potatoes, buttered toast, choice of bacon or sausage), quesadilla and chicken tenders. *Limit 2 per household

Other services that are still up-and-running while keeping the new state laws  top-of-mind include:

•First responders including but not limited to medical professionals, police and firefighters will enjoy 50% off all delivery orders

•Guests paying cash for delivery orders will enjoy 10% off their order

•Industry professionals will enjoy 15% off all delivery orders with proof of employment.
