In addition, downtown hotel-casinos offer fabulous deals on room rates, gambling and food and drink specials.”

Theory of a Deadman
The platinum-selling Vancouver quartet, Theory of a Deadman, builds arena-ready hooks around hard rocking stories of good times, bad times and everything in between. “Lowlife,” is a raucous anthem celebrating simple pleasures. Meanwhile, “The Bitch Came Back” gives a hilarious send-off to a bad ex with roaring guitars and flourishes of horns. “Hurricane” stirs up a storm of emotions over an orchestral hum of guitars and massive chorus. Then there’s “Head Above Water,” which delivers an uplifting, contemplative message encased in mid-tempo rhythms.

The band solidified their place at the top of modern hard rock by exceeding Platinum sales with their breakthrough album Scars & Souvenirs and with #1 Mainstream Rock Radio hit “Bad Girlfriend.” At the same time, other singles, “So Happy” and “By The Way,” became crowd favorites on tours with notable bands from Mötley Crüe and Godsmack to Daughtry and label mates Stone Sour.

Fuel
Fuel burst onto the scene with their 1998 full-length debut album Sunburn, featuring the massive hit “Shimmer.” Since then the band has sold over 3.5 million albums in the U.S. and recorded additional top hits including “Innocent,” “Hemorrhage (In My Hands),” and “Falls on Me.” Fuel has performed sold out tours all over the world, headlining venues and opening for bands including Aerosmith, Kid Rock, Creed and 3 Doors Down.

Lit
Fullerton, Calif. rock band Lit is comprised of brothers A. Jay and Jeremy Popoff, and lifelong friends, Kevin Baldes and Allen Shellenberger. Their second album A Place in the Sunspawned three hit singles: “Miserable,” which went to #3 on the Modern Rock Tracks, and whose video featured the flaxen voluptitude of Pamela Anderson; “Zip-Lock,” and “My Own Worst Enemy” (which held the number one position on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart for three months, and received a Billboard Music Award for the biggest modern rock song of 1999). They rocked Woodstock 1999 and supported the Offspring, No Doubt and Garbage, spanning the globe and clocking in close to 500 shows between 1999 and 2000. And riding on its heels, A Place In The Sun’s 2001 follow-up Atomic boasted yet another Top Ten single for the band, “Lipstick And Bruises,” and a support tour with Kid Rock.

Hinder
Hinder debuted on the rock scene in 2005 with their first album Extreme Behavior, which sold over three-million copies in the U.S. and featured the breakthrough single “Lips of an Angel” which hit #1 on the Billboard Pop Chart. The album also featured popular hits “Better Than Me” and “Get Stoned.” The follow-up in 2008, Take it to the Limit, surpassed Gold status after debuting at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 with over 80,000 copies sold first week. Meanwhile, their third effort, American Nightmare, was released in 2010. Along the way, the band has shared the stage on national tours with everyone Mötley Crüe and Nickelback to Papa Roach and Saving Abel. After nearly a decade, Hinder is stronger than ever, releasing their fourth full-length album for Republic Records, Welcome to the Freakshow.

Everclear
Founded in Portland, Ore. in 1992, Everclear independently released their debut album World of Noise. The band’s relentless touring regimen and D.I.Y. promotional tactics helped set to set the stage for the platinum-level breakthrough of 1995’s Sparkle and Fade, which spawned the hits “Santa Monica” and “Heroin Girl.” The band’s ascendancy continued with 1997’s So Much for the Afterglow, which produced the radio hits “Everything to Everyone,” “I Will Buy You A New Life,” and “Father of Mine.” In 2012 Everclear released their newest album “Invisible Stars” featuring new songs that embody the same qualities of punch, sturdy songcraft and edgy introspection that have long endeared Everclear to its large and loyal worldwide fan base.

Live
Live burst onto the burgeoning alternative scene in 1991, but it was their sophomore album Throwing Copper that solidified their status as bonafide superstars. The album featured hit songs “Lightning Crashes,” “All Over You,” and “I Alone.” The album reached #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and surpassed sales of 10 million in merely two years. Rolling Stone and MTV both dubbed the album “One of the 25 Greatest Rock Albums of All-Time”, while tastemakers from Spin to The New York Times lauded it with equal praise. Upon release, its 1997 follow-up Secret Samadhi immediately shot to #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and eventually went six-times platinum. However, on The Distance to Here in 1999, Live turned into an international powerhouse and jumped from arenas into stadiums all over the globe driven by the smash “The Dolphin’s Cry”. V and Birds of Pray followed, continuing to expand their legacy and satiate the rabid and faithful fan base that they had amassed over nearly two decades. Live’s music remains a pillar of the nineties both musically and culturally. The band infused heartfelt melodies with raw energy for an inimitable style that stood out from the early nineties pack.

Filter
Shoving a fist in the face of tradition has been Filter’s modus operandi since the release of their self-produced debut album, Short Bus. The album’s rough-around-the-edges production brought the group’s first hit single “Hey Man, Nice Shot” which peaked at #10 on Billboards Modern Rock Tracks. Their second album, Title of Record, featured hit song “Take a Picture” which has been featured in numerous motion pictures including The Girl Next Door, Saving Grace, Little Nicky and Pay it Forward. Filter’s sixth album, The Sun Comes Out will be released on June 4, 2013.

Sponge
Sponge has proven to be one of the Motor City’s heaviest hitters after gaining international notoriety with their debut album Rotting Piñata. Emerging from Detroit with hits like “Plowed” and “Molly (16 Candles)” Sponge received massive airplay on radio stations from coast to coast and were in heavy rotation on MTV. Both “Plowed” and “Molly” hit #5 onBillboard’s Modern Rock Charts, catapulting “Rotting Piñata” to Gold, and ultimately Platinum status. Sponge’s follow up CD, the critically lauded “Wax Ecstatic” (Columbia) scored additional top ten Billboard hits including “Wax Ecstatic” and “Have You Seen Mary?” The band’s music was also featured in popular movies The Craft, Chasing Amy, Mall Ratsand Empire Records. Having shared stages the world over with Guns N’ Roses, Nickelback, Iggy Pop, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Kiss, to name just a few, Sponge continues to be one of rock’s most sought after live acts. Front man Vinnie Dombroski captivates audiences with his powerful voice, heart-on-his-sleeve lyrics and high-octane stage presence. In May of 2013 Sponge will release a highly anticipated new album Stop the Bleeding.

Puddle of Mudd
Puddle of Mudd is a Kansas City, Missouri based post-grunge rock band that has been capturing audiences for more than a decade. Their debut studio album Come Clean, released in 2001 gave them the breakthrough to the mainstream music scene with hit singles like “She Hates Me,” “Blurry” and “Drift and Die” and “Blurry,” a power rock ballad which peaked at #1 on both Billboard’s Hot Modern Rock Tracks and Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks. Since then the band has achieved platinum-plus sales, sold out crowds and released more than a dozen radio hits. After a decade of churning out their own material, Puddle of Mudd have put down their pens in favor of recording 11 classic rock tracks by artists such as: The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Steve Miller Band, AC/DC, Elton John and many others.

Nevermind
Nevermind is an alternative rock themed cover band produced by Face Productions that will create the haunting and memorable sounds that we all know and love including “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana, “Stupid Girl” by Garbage, “Don’t Speak” by No Doubt, “Man in a Box” by Alice in Chains, “Come to My Window” by Melissa Etheridge, “Fly Away” Lenny Kravitz and many more. Omaha Flash Quotes – Ellenberger Given Key to City of Omaha

UFC® On FUEL

*OPEN WORKOUT FLASH QUOTES*

** LOCAL HERO ELLENBERGER GIVEN KEY TO CITY**

On Wednesday night, live from the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Nebraska, and broadcast on FUEL, elite welterweights Diego ‘the Dream’ Sanchez and local puncher  Jake ‘the Juggernaut’ Ellenberger throw down in a three-round main event which will reshape the 170lbs division.

After an impressive run at the lightweight title, Sanchez has reestablished himself in the welterweight division with fight of the night wins over Paulo Thiago and Martin Kampmann, while Ellenberger has run through nine of his last 10 opponent, including stoppage wins over Mike Pyle, John Howard and Jake Shields.

Today Ellenberger – born and bred in Omaha and the assistant coach at the University of Nebraska-Omaha – was presented with the Key to the City by David Dover, Deputy Chief of Staff to Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle. The former US Marine said: “I’m honored to be recognized by the city I grew up in and fight for. It’s extra pressure to fight in your hometown with all your family and friends in the front row, but I know the support from the local fans will be awesome.”

Presenting the Key to the City, David Dover, Deputy Chief of Staff to Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle said: “On behalf of Mayor Jim Suttle, the City of Omaha is proud to recognize Jake as a hometown hero, as both a former US Marine and an outstanding athlete.”

The main eventers had the following to say at today’s open workouts.

Diego Sanchez, welterweight contender

“You know, this is a big fight with Jake Ellenberger because I believe he is one of the top guys in the division. He has more momentum than a Koscheck or a Hendricks right now, and I think a win over him is going to set me up in a good position in the division and a shot at the title.

“The fact that people aren’t talking about me for a title shot doesn’t bother me. It’s alright. Ellenberger has five wins in the UFC and some impressive ones. It all gets factored in. I have two Fight of the Nights but, for me, to get that title shot I’m really going to have to earn it. So I’m going to have to go in there and beat the guy who everyone says is going to get the title shot. I have to go in and beat him and I have to beat him convincingly and that’s what I came to Omaha to do.

“There’s no added pressure fighting him in his hometown. I used to get involved in mind games, the fight before the fight. The mental and psychological aspects of the head games. When I was younger I used to think that was part of it. If you could beat a fighter before you even got into the ring then that was part of it. But now I’ve realized that once they lock the door it’s just two guys, two men. The decisions that they made in their training camp, the decisions that they made with their life, that’s all that matters and what’s in their hearts.”

Jake Ellenberger, welterweight contender (@ellenbergermma)

“The Jake Shields fight was a great win, but you need to look at it one fight at a time. Sanchez is a completely different type of fight for me. I’ve really put in the work, I have been around the sport a long time and the hard work and travelling the hard road is really paying off. This is a big opportunity for me. I’m looking one fight at a time until I get the title shot. I’m not thinking much past Wednesday, but my goal has always been a world title.

“I was very excited by last week’s Nick Diaz vs Carlos Condit fight. Obviously I have history with Carlos and I would love to get this win back off him. The last one was a split decision and I know I am a little faster and a lot smarter than I was two years ago. I respect him because he didn’t have an easy path to the belt, like me, and to fight him again would be an honor.”
