Rock of Vegas Summer Concert Series Continues July 18

Canadian rockers Theory of a Deadman will perform a free concert during Fremont Street Experience’s Rock of Vegas summer concert series on Saturday, July 18 at 9 p.m. at the 1st Street Stage. Celebrating its seventh season, the free concerts have become one of the most popular summertime events in Las Vegas. This year’s lineup will turn the legendary downtown Las Vegas entertainment venue into summer’s alternative destination through Labor Day weekend with a free concert series that showcases a stellar lineup of bands that have taken music to the edge.

Theory of a Deadman
The platinum-selling Vancouver quartet, Theory of a Deadman, builds arena-ready hooks around hard rocking stories of good times, bad times and everything in between. The band consists of Tyler Connolly [Lead Vocals, Lead Guitar], David Brenner [Rhythm Guitar], Dean Back [Bass], and Joey Dandeneau [Drums]. The band solidified their place at the top of modern hard rock by exceeding Platinum sales with their breakthrough album Scars & Souvenirs and with #1 Mainstream Rock Radio hit “Bad Girlfriend.” At the same time, other singles, “So Happy” and “By The Way,” became crowd favorites on tours with notable bands from Mötley Crüe and Godsmack to Daughtry and label mates Stone Sour. In the middle of 2013, the platinum-selling Canadian quartet began working on what would become its fifth full-length album, Savages. The first single “Drown” ebbs and flows between a staggering wall of distortion and an infectious chorus from Connolly. The single has become one of the group’s biggest anthems that they continue to rock out on tour.

Downtown hotel-casinos also offer fabulous values on room rates, gambling, plus many food and drink specials.”

KC and The Sunshine Band
KC and The Sunshine Band are still as widely popular today as they were when they first danced into the music scene 40 years ago. Harry Wayne Casey – KC for short – developed a unique fusion of R&B and funk, with a hint of a Latin percussion groove, giving us an impressive string of hits like “Get Down Tonight,” “That’s The Way (I Like It)” and “Shake Your Booty.” With sales of over 100 million records, nine Grammy nominations, three Grammy Awards and an American Music Award, KC and The Sunshine Band was one of the most progressive bands of the ’70s and is credited with changing the sound of modern pop music.

Tonic & Vertical Horizon
Multiple Grammy-nominated Tonic’s hit, “If You Could Only See,” was a highlight of the group’s platinum-selling album, Lemon Parade. Alt rock favorites Vertical Horizon has had a slew of hits including “You’re a God,” “Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)” and “Everything You Want.”

Martha Davis and The Motels, The Tubes & The Smithereens
You’d be hard-pressed to find any compilation of ’80s hits that doesn’t include songs by these popular groups. Some favorites include “Only the Lonely” from Martha Davis and The Motels, “Talk to Ya Later” from The Tubes, featuring Fee Waybill, and “A Girl Like You” from The Smithereens.

Smash Mouth & Toad the Wet Sprocket
American rock band Smash Mouth is perhaps best known for their hits, “Walkin’ in the Sun” and “All Star,” featured in numerous movie soundtracks. Alt Rock’s Toad the Wet Sprocket have a string of chart-topping hits including, “Walk on the Ocean,” “Something’s Always Wrong” and “All I Want.”

Theory of a Deadman
Canadian rockers Theory of a Deadman formed in 2001 and have had seven Top 10 hits. Their biggest radio success came from 2008’s Scars & Souvenirs. Their hits include “So Happy,” “Bad Girlfriend” and “Not Meant to Be.”

Spin Doctors and Cherry Poppin’ Daddies
Spin Doctors are best known for two hits with irresistible melodies, “Two Princes” and “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong.” Cherry Poppin’ Daddies rose to the forefront of the neo-swing movement with their two million-selling “Zoot Suit Riot.”

Kansas & Blue Oyster Cult
Kansas has scored eight gold albums, three sextuple-platinum albums and a platinum live album as well hits like “Carry On Wayward Son” and the timeless “Dust in the Wind.” Blue Oyster Cult has sold more than 24 million albums worldwide since their debut in 1972. Some of their most memorable songs include “Godzilla,” “Burnin’ for You” and “Don’t Fear the Reaper.”

Last night, Canadian rock band Theory of a Deadman rocked downtown Vegas with a massive concert for thousands of fans in honor of Victoria Day outside the D Las Vegas located on the Fremont Street Experience (FSE). Currently touring throughout the U.S. to showcase their fourth studio album “The Truth Is”, the platinum-selling quartet took a break to deliver an electrifying show free and open to the public to kick off FSE’s Rock of Vegas Summer Concert Series.

Before the rockers took the stage, Derek Stevens, CEO and Owner of the D Las Vegas, welcomed the screaming crowd to the Victoria Day celebration and introduced Theory of a Deadman. The band had fans singing along to hits “So Happy” and “Not Meant To Be” as well as a number of songs from their most recent album.

After exiting the stage, the crowd roared and repeatedly chanted, “Encore!” prompting the band to reappear to perform their #1 Mainstream Rock Radio hit “Bad Girlfriend.” Ensuring fans didn’t miss a second of the concert, the show streamed live on the larger-than-life plasma video wall on the D’s exterior, in addition to FSE’s massive Viva Vision LED canopy.

Following the show, the band members gambled and partied into the early morning hours at the D. At the end of the night, the quartet retreated to their plush suites at the new downtown property.

In addition, downtown hotel-casinos offer fabulous deals on room rates, gambling and food and drink specials.”

Theory of a Deadman
The platinum-selling Vancouver quartet, Theory of a Deadman, builds arena-ready hooks around hard rocking stories of good times, bad times and everything in between. “Lowlife,” is a raucous anthem celebrating simple pleasures. Meanwhile, “The Bitch Came Back” gives a hilarious send-off to a bad ex with roaring guitars and flourishes of horns. “Hurricane” stirs up a storm of emotions over an orchestral hum of guitars and massive chorus. Then there’s “Head Above Water,” which delivers an uplifting, contemplative message encased in mid-tempo rhythms.

Fuel
Fuel burst onto the scene with their 1998 full-length debut album Sunburn, featuring the massive hit “Shimmer.” Since then the band has sold over 3.5 million albums in the U.S. and recorded additional top hits including “Innocent,” “Hemorrhage (In My Hands),” and “Falls on Me.” Fuel has performed sold out tours all over the world, headlining venues and opening for bands including Aerosmith, Kid Rock, Creed and 3 Doors Down.

Lit
Fullerton, Calif. rock band Lit is comprised of brothers A. Jay and Jeremy Popoff, and lifelong friends, Kevin Baldes and Allen Shellenberger. Their second album A Place in the Sunspawned three hit singles: “Miserable,” which went to #3 on the Modern Rock Tracks, and whose video featured the flaxen voluptitude of Pamela Anderson; “Zip-Lock,” and “My Own Worst Enemy” (which held the number one position on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart for three months, and received a Billboard Music Award for the biggest modern rock song of 1999). They rocked Woodstock 1999 and supported the Offspring, No Doubt and Garbage, spanning the globe and clocking in close to 500 shows between 1999 and 2000. And riding on its heels, A Place In The Sun’s 2001 follow-up Atomic boasted yet another Top Ten single for the band, “Lipstick And Bruises,” and a support tour with Kid Rock.

Hinder
Hinder debuted on the rock scene in 2005 with their first album Extreme Behavior, which sold over three-million copies in the U.S. and featured the breakthrough single “Lips of an Angel” which hit #1 on the Billboard Pop Chart. The album also featured popular hits “Better Than Me” and “Get Stoned.” The follow-up in 2008, Take it to the Limit, surpassed Gold status after debuting at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 with over 80,000 copies sold first week. Meanwhile, their third effort, American Nightmare, was released in 2010. Along the way, the band has shared the stage on national tours with everyone Mötley Crüe and Nickelback to Papa Roach and Saving Abel. After nearly a decade, Hinder is stronger than ever, releasing their fourth full-length album for Republic Records, Welcome to the Freakshow.

Everclear
Founded in Portland, Ore. in 1992, Everclear independently released their debut album World of Noise. The band’s relentless touring regimen and D.I.Y. promotional tactics helped set to set the stage for the platinum-level breakthrough of 1995’s Sparkle and Fade, which spawned the hits “Santa Monica” and “Heroin Girl.” The band’s ascendancy continued with 1997’s So Much for the Afterglow, which produced the radio hits “Everything to Everyone,” “I Will Buy You A New Life,” and “Father of Mine.” In 2012 Everclear released their newest album “Invisible Stars” featuring new songs that embody the same qualities of punch, sturdy songcraft and edgy introspection that have long endeared Everclear to its large and loyal worldwide fan base.

Live
Live burst onto the burgeoning alternative scene in 1991, but it was their sophomore album Throwing Copper that solidified their status as bonafide superstars. The album featured hit songs “Lightning Crashes,” “All Over You,” and “I Alone.” The album reached #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and surpassed sales of 10 million in merely two years. Rolling Stone and MTV both dubbed the album “One of the 25 Greatest Rock Albums of All-Time”, while tastemakers from Spin to The New York Times lauded it with equal praise. Upon release, its 1997 follow-up Secret Samadhi immediately shot to #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and eventually went six-times platinum. However, on The Distance to Here in 1999, Live turned into an international powerhouse and jumped from arenas into stadiums all over the globe driven by the smash “The Dolphin’s Cry”. V and Birds of Pray followed, continuing to expand their legacy and satiate the rabid and faithful fan base that they had amassed over nearly two decades. Live’s music remains a pillar of the nineties both musically and culturally. The band infused heartfelt melodies with raw energy for an inimitable style that stood out from the early nineties pack.

Filter
Shoving a fist in the face of tradition has been Filter’s modus operandi since the release of their self-produced debut album, Short Bus.
