An exciting new ballad group from the heart of Ireland, Drops of Green is made up of Lee Campion (guitar, five-string banjo, accordion and vocals), Ross Hennessy (mandolin, banjo, whistles and vocals), James Ring (bass guitar, guitar, bodhran and vocals) and Barry Kavanagh (banjo, bodhran, guitar and vocals). Hailing from Laois and Kilkenny, Ireland, the four lads have all played in other folk and ballad groups over the years and have now joined together to put their own stamp on Irish folk music.

12 Pubs of Vegas

The pub invites Irish fans to participate in “12 Pubs of Vegas,” a massive pub crawl throughout the city following the UFC 194 weigh-in on Friday, Dec. 11. Attendees will dress in their finest Christmas jumpers and meet at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino to begin the route. Rí Rá will participate as the fourth stop along the way. UFC 194 Viewing Party

Rí Rá hosts the official UFC registered fan viewing party for UFC 194: Aldo vs. McGregor on Saturday, Dec. 12 starting at 6 p.m. There is no cover charge to attend the party but all fans must register at www.rira.com/las-vegas prior to the event. From 7 to 10 p.m., guests will enjoy buy-one-get-one-free special on Bud Light bottles and $5 off a purchase of $20 or more. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached.

Rí Rá Las Vegas Christmas Turkey Dinner

On Friday, Dec. 25, the pub will offer two traditional Christmas entrees – a roasted turkey and gravy ($22.95) or a glazed ham ($21.95). The roasted turkey and gravy is served with sage and onion stuffing, baby boiled potatoes, brussel sprouts and carrot and parsnip mash. Rí Rá’s ham special is glazed with orange juice, clove and honey and served with sautéed green beans, Yukon smashed potato, Jameson honey glazed carrots and homemade cranberry sauce. The pub’s dessert for the night will be Apple Pie ($8).

St. Baldrick’s Foundation Fundraiser
March 7 at 1 p.m.
The pub will host its fourth annual St. Baldrick’s signature head-shaving event on Saturday, March 7 to raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which funds the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. Starting at 1 p.m., registered attendees will shed their locks to support the fight against childhood cancer. Those looking to make a bald statement can register online to shave at Rí Rá or to donate time or money to the cause. Once registered, volunteers will raise funds for St. Baldrick’s by soliciting donations from friends, family and anyone willing to spare some change.

St. Patrick’s Day Festival
March 14 – March 17
Rí Rá invites guests to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day the Irish way during its four-day festival inside The Shoppes at Mandalay Place. The St. Patrick’s Day festivities will feature live music, giveaways, Irish dancers, an Irish bagpiper and authentic Irish cuisine. The celebration will kick off with live music at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 14.

Mammoth Music Jam Fundraiser benefitting Paul “Jnr” Walsh
Feb. 20 at 8 p.m.  – Feb. 22 at 1:30 a.m.
The pub will host a fundraiser for beloved bartender Paul “Jnr” Walsh, who suffered from cardiac arrest this past December. All funds raised during the event will directly help pay for nearly $100,000 in hospital bills. The fundraiser will be lead by The Black Donnellys, a folk band consisting of Guinness World Record holders Dave Browne and Dave Rooney, and will feature performances by local artists throughout the weekend. During the fundraiser, the pub will raise money for Jnr through raffles and collection buckets. Additionally, Rí Rá will announce a donation during the event while working staff members will donate all their tips to the cause as well.

 

St. Baldrick’s Foundation Fundraiser
March 7 at 1 p.m.
The pub will host its fourth annual St. Baldrick’s signature head-shaving event on Saturday, March 7 to raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which funds the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.

 

St. Patrick’s Day Festival
March 15 – March 17
Rí Rá Las Vegas invites guests to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day the Irish way during its three-day festival. The St. Patrick’s Day festivities will feature live music, giveaways, Irish dancers, an Irish bagpiper and authentic Irish cuisine. The celebration will kick off with live music at 5 p.m. on March 15 and 16 and at noon on March 17.

Starting Wednesday, Oct. 1, Rí Rá Las Vegas, located inside The Shoppes at Mandalay Place, will host over 16 days of nonstop live music in attempt to break a Guinness World Record.

 

The concert will kick off at 1 p.m. with music playing for more than 16 days straight with at most a 25-second break between songs and a five-minute break between sets. Guided by Irish musician Dave Browne, the marathon concert will feature a variety of musical styles. Many popular bands and musicians will fly in from Ireland to support the attempt including Liam Reilly of renowned Irish rock band Bagatelle and the founder of the legendary Wolfe Tones, Derek Warfield.

 

Additional participating bands include The Black Donnellys, John Windsor, Dirk Vermin, Paul Cray, Louise Barry, Sharon O’Brien, Eugene Quinn, Roy Buckley, Dave Rafferty, Dave Hughes, The American Diddley Idols, Clare Peelo, Gavin Carpenter, Na Cairde, Darby O’Gill and the Little People and more.

 

In honor of the Guinness World Record attempt, Rí Rá will raise funds for the Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen®. During the concert, guests can order from the authentic Irish pub’s special Guinness World Record menu during lunch or dinner, and Rí Rá will donate 20 percent of all proceeds to the local nonprofit. Also, Rí Rá will raise money for the affiliate by selling pink wristbands and paper ribbon icons throughout the month and donating the proceeds

 

Hailing from inner city Dublin, Dave Browne is already a Guinness World Record holder for marathon guitar playing, a record he broke at Temple Bar in Dublin in June 2011 when he played guitar for 114 hours and six minutes straight. Browne is the founding member of two bands, The Black Donnellys and Little Sister Sage, and plays mandolin and guitar.

 

The current world record holder for Longest Concert by Multiple Artists is AJ’s Music Café in Ferndale, Michigan, where a concert that began on March 19, 2011 lasted for 360 hours, ending on April 3, 2011.

Rí Rá Las Vegas celebrates International Beer Day with an #InstaGUINNESS party from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1. Drops of Green

An exciting new ballad group from the heart of Ireland, Drops of Green is made up of Lee Campion (guitar, five-string banjo, accordion and vocals), Ross Hennessy (mandolin, banjo, whistles and vocals), James Ring (bass guitar, guitar, bodhran and vocals) and Barry Kavanagh (banjo, bodhran, guitar and vocals). Hailing from Laois and Kilkenny, Ireland, the four lads have all played in other folk and ballad groups over the years and have now joined together to put their own stamp on Irish folk music.

 

About Rí Rá Las Vegas
Crafted in the warm pub style of 19th century Ireland, Rí Rá Las Vegas is located inside The Shoppes at Mandalay Place.  The authentic Irish pub features a multitude of artifacts that were carefully restored in Wicklow, Ireland and shipped to their new home in Las Vegas.  Rí Rá Las Vegas contains an authentic Victorian Shop bar that began its life in Ireland in the 1880s, a whiskey bar adorned with an original glazed jewelry cabinet from 1900, an oak floor from a whiskey distillery and an 8-foot-tall, 500-pound carved plaster statue of St. Patrick dating back to 1850.  The pub hosts live entertainment seven nights a week in a music room constructed with artifacts dating back to 1890 from the Olympia Theater in Dublin, Ireland. Born and raised in Dublin, Rí Rá Las Vegas owners David Kelly and Ciaran Sheehan have been close friends since they were 14-years-old. Kelly and Sheehan later partnered with Jay Luther, whom Kelly met while working for Guinness. Rí Rá Las Vegas is one of 11 pubs the trio has opened in the U.S.

April Food and Drink Specials
This month, Rí Rá Las Vegas takes guests on a Whiskey World Tour ($14) with its specialty tasting flight featuring the finest spirits from the four corners of the world, including one from the world’s oldest distillery. Selections include: Bushmills Whiskey (Ireland), Lagavulin Whisky (Scotland), Bulleit Bourbon (USA) and Seagram’s Crown Royal (Canada).

In addition, the pub puts an Irish spin on Chicken Curry ($17.95) with a delicious dish of tender chicken pieces, sautéed with sweet bell peppers, garlic and onions and served over guest’s choice of rice or hand-cut chips.

The Black Donnellys is a triad / folk rock band consisting of Dave Browne and Dave Rooney. Multi-talented Irish folk singer, songwriter and musician Stephen Leeson is best known for his unique voice, his impeccable stage presence and his versatility as a musician. Leeson has toured all over Ireland, Europe, America and parts of Asia and has performed as lead singer for bands such as Porter Black and Dublin Legacy. In addition, he played and sang with The Dublin City Ramblers for four years.
