BRIO Tuscan Grille (BRIO) at Tivoli Village will put its ‘breast’ foot forward this October to raise funds and awareness for Susan G. Komen of Southern Nevada. On Wednesday, Oct. 19, BRIO will join the fight to find a cure by donating $1 from every pink cocktail purchased from 4 – 8 p.m. as well as 20 percent of all dine-in proceeds to fund research and promote breast cancer awareness. Diners can enjoy one of seven pink drinks, including a non-alcoholic option so everyone can do their part to support the cause.

Fremont Street Experience will donate 100% of SlotZilla revenue to the Southwest office of Susan G. Komen for everyone who flies on either the lower Zipline ($20) or upper Zoomline ($40) on Thursday, Oct. 30 from noon to 7 p.m.   Flight times can be purchased at the SlotZilla box office or can be booked in advance online at www.vegasexperience.com.

“We developed the Halloween FlightFest concept as a fun and exciting way to give back to the community – specifically Susan G. Komen which does great work addressing breast cancer on so many levels,” said Jeff Victor, president of Fremont Street Experience. “Everyone that comes down to fly SlotZilla on either the Zoomline or Zipline on Thursday, October 30th will be supporting a great cause with every dollar of revenue going to Susan G. Komen. In essence, flyers, by making the appropriate charitable donation, will get to fly SlotZilla for free.”

SlotZilla ticketing, will call and check-in office is located next to the SlotZilla takeoff tower on Fremont Street between 4th Street and Las Vegas Boulevard. Parking is available at Fremont Street Experience parking garage with entrance off 4th Street just north of Carson.

Zipline – Flyers take off from the lower tier of the tower, 77 feet high and zip in a traditional seated-harness position on an 850-foot flight – half the length of Fremont Street Experience – to a mid-point landing platform located between 3rd Street and Casino Center.

Zoomline – Flyers launch from 114 feet high and zoom in a horizontal “superman” position going 35 mph 1,750 feet across the entire length of Fremont Street Experience, and land on a platform atop a newly built Main Street Stage.

Children under 13 in age must be accompanied by a flyer age 13 or over.  Flyers must weigh between 60-300 lbs. for Zipline and 100-300 lbs. for Zoomline, with a maximum 6’8” height for lower Zipline but no height limit on upper Zoomline. Flyers cannot be under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Flyers should not ride if they have health concerns, neck/shoulder problems, are pregnant, have heart trouble, problems with balance, or seizure disorders.

Miracle Mile Shops Turns Fountain Pink in Honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino will turn its fountain pink this October. As part of the center’s Caring, Giving, Changing community campaign, all change tossed in the pink fountain will benefit the Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen®.

 

Through Oct. 31, the fountain will display a pink hue in between regularly scheduled water shows. Coins tossed in the popular water feature and the center’s indoor rainstorm will be donated to the Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen®. Regularly scheduled water shows take place at the top of every hour from noon to 11 p.m.

Formed in 1996, the Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen is dedicated to combating breast cancer at every front. This year, the Affiliate raised more than $500,000 for projects in the local community.

Starting Wednesday, Oct. 1, Rí Rá Las Vegas, located inside The Shoppes at Mandalay Place, will host over 16 days of nonstop live music in attempt to break a Guinness World Record.

 

The concert will kick off at 1 p.m. with music playing for more than 16 days straight with at most a 25-second break between songs and a five-minute break between sets. Guided by Irish musician Dave Browne, the marathon concert will feature a variety of musical styles. Many popular bands and musicians will fly in from Ireland to support the attempt including Liam Reilly of renowned Irish rock band Bagatelle and the founder of the legendary Wolfe Tones, Derek Warfield.

 

Additional participating bands include The Black Donnellys, John Windsor, Dirk Vermin, Paul Cray, Louise Barry, Sharon O’Brien, Eugene Quinn, Roy Buckley, Dave Rafferty, Dave Hughes, The American Diddley Idols, Clare Peelo, Gavin Carpenter, Na Cairde, Darby O’Gill and the Little People and more.

 

In honor of the Guinness World Record attempt, Rí Rá will raise funds for the Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen®. During the concert, guests can order from the authentic Irish pub’s special Guinness World Record menu during lunch or dinner, and Rí Rá will donate 20 percent of all proceeds to the local nonprofit. Hailing from inner city Dublin, Dave Browne is already a Guinness World Record holder for marathon guitar playing, a record he broke at Temple Bar in Dublin in June 2011 when he played guitar for 114 hours and six minutes straight. Browne is the founding member of two bands, The Black Donnellys and Little Sister Sage, and plays mandolin and guitar.

 

The current world record holder for Longest Concert by Multiple Artists is AJ’s Music Café in Ferndale, Michigan, where a concert that began on March 19, 2011 lasted for 360 hours, ending on April 3, 2011.

Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, famous for its award-winning, hand-tossed, coal-fired brick oven pizzas, will host a Grimaldi’s for the Cure to benefit Susan G. Komen of Southern Nevada on Tuesday, May 13 at the Grimaldi’s Pizzeria located at 7155 S. Rainbow Rd. A cash only donation of $20 provides a buffet-style meal that will include a selection of our salads such as, Mediterrannean, Caesar, Caprese. to Make Breast Cancer ‘Disappear’

Proceeds to benefit Susan G. Komen of Southern Nevada


Comedy-Magician Mac King joins the fight to make breast cancer disappear during Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a special fundraiser benefitting Susan G. Komen of Southern Nevada. Throughout the month of October, guests who make a $5 donation after the show will receive two limited edition pink “Mac King & Susan G. Komen – Magic For a Cure” wristbands. For those that purchase two merchandise products after the show King will donate the $5 on their behalf. All proceeds will benefit Susan G. Komen of Southern Nevada. The wristbands won’t be the only pink in Mac King’s show. For the entire month of October, King will “go pink” for a cause by ditching his traditional yellow “Cloak of Invisibility” for a pink one.
 
“Breast Cancer is a terrible and unfortunate disease that no one should have to endure,” said King. “That’s why I’m calling upon my guests to join me in the fight to make breast cancer disappear. Wearing a nifty “Magic For A Cure” wristband is a great way to show support and raise awareness for this important cause.”
