Donate books for free Mac King Comedy Magic Show and hockey tickets
Comedy-magician and Harrah’s, Las Vegas Headliner Mac King is preparing to embark on Mac King’s Magical Literacy Tour: Nevada Reading Week 2012, benefiting Clark County READS, the literacy initiative of The Public Education Foundation. The tour kicks-off with a book drive hosted by the Las Vegas Wranglers hockey team on Feb. 17 and 18. King will hand-deliver the books to five local elementary schools during Nevada Reading Week on Feb. 27 – Mar. 2.
Donations of three or more new or gently used elementary-school aged books can be made at the home games on Feb. 17 and 18 beginning at 7:05 p.m. at the Orleans Arena. Those who donate a minimum of three books will receive two free tickets to The Mac King Comedy Magic Show at Harrah’s Las Vegas and one ticket to a future Wranglers game on either Mar. 18, 20 or 27 (limit one per person).
Additionally, Mac King will be on-site to collect donations, meet and greet with fans and sign autographs during the game on Feb. 17.
“I want to say thank you to the Las Vegas community and fans of The Las Vegas Wranglers who helped to make last year’s Nevada Reading Week tour a success. Because of your generosity we have been able to touch thousands of children’s lives, but there’s still more work to be done,” said King. “That’s why I’m calling upon my pals once again to continue to support literacy in Las Vegas. With your help, we can change the lives of even more children.”
Nevada Reading Week
During Nevada Reading Week, Feb. 27 – Mar. 2, Mac King’s Magical Literacy Tour will be making stops at five local elementary schools where King will personally deliver books collected from the book drive. During the tour’s scheduled stops King will also perform tricks from his show and read a few short stories.
In the past, King has visited local elementary schools to perform some of his magic tricks and to engage the students by reading a few short stories. At the end of each visit he donates an autographed copy of his book to the school library.

**Video** A Cultural Look Into Chinese New Year at The Venetian and The Palazzo
As Chinese New Year continues, we want to share with you the second installment to The Venetian and The Palazzo’s Chinese New Year video series and the cultural significance of the Year of the Dragon. Regarded as the most important and celebrated holiday in Chinese and Asian cultures, Chinese New Year, also referred to as “Spring Festival,” is centuries old. Based off the Lunar calendar, predating the international calendar used in western cultures today, the holiday has become one of the most celebrated events in Las Vegas.
This year marks the Year of the Dragon, deemed the mightiest of signs. The dragon is the fifth zodiac in the Chinese calendar and is said to descend from the heavens above. A symbol of good fortune and power, those who possess the sign of the dragon are said to exhibit such characteristics as bravery, passion and innovation.
Peter Lung, a Chinese culture and feng shui expert with World of Feng Shui boutiques in Las Vegas and Honolulu, consulted on the creation of this project beginning 12 months ago. From the number of claws on the dragon and direction it faces, to the position of the water element and earth element beds, the display brings good chi through the ancient art of feng shui.
If you haven’t already visited, make sure to come by to see the dragon and circle around it three times for good fortune in the new year. Share your #ChineseNewYear wishes on Twitter with @PalazzoLasVegas and @VenetianVegas.

Madame Tussuads Welcomes Justin Bieber Wax Figure and Unveils Winning T-Shirt Designed by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas
MADAME TUSSAUDS WELCOMES JUSTIN BIEBER WAX FIGURE AND UNVEILS WINNING T-SHIRT DESIGNED BY THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF LAS VEGAS
Last Night (Wednesday, Jan. 25), Madame Tussauds Las Vegas located at The Venetian celebrated the arrival of a Justin Bieber wax figure and unveiled a Bieber-inspired t-shirt designed by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Las Vegas (B&GCLV).
Bieber’s figure is available for visitors to interact with until March 4 before returning to its home at Madame Tussauds New York. The figure, capturing Bieber’s signature look during his rise to fame in 2010, is posed in a standing position with his hands tucked coyly in his pockets. He is dressed in a black vest by Will-i-am and Balenciaga pants. Bieber was an enthusiastic participant in the creation of his wax figure, spending time with a team of Madame Tussauds studio artists for four months.
In honor of the teen sensation’s wax figure arriving in Las Vegas, B&GCLV held a t-shirt design contest. The winning design, created by the kids at the Ralph and Betty Engelstad Clubhouse, will be displayed next to Bieber’s figure through March 4. Several kids from the club were present to see Bieber’s figure unveiled as well as receive shirts donning their winning design. During the event, DJ M1one spun music including some of Beiber’s greatest hits and seven dancers wearing the winning shirt performed a choreographed number leading up to the wax figure unveiling. The dancers included JBoogie, a dancer from Bieber’s “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” music video and six dancers from the Tunay Ink Dance Studio.
i ♥ burgers catered the event and will soon announce a burger special to accompany the wax figure’s stay at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas. RetroBakery also provided cupcakes for attendees.
Madame Tussauds Las Vegas offers guests the unique opportunity to “interact” with incredibly life-like iconic figures from the celebrity worlds of film, TV, music, sports and politics. Only at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas can you “grab hold” of your favorite stars, with our many interactive experiences. Resort Named to Magazine’s Gold List for 13th Consecutive Year
Recognizing the highest standards of excellence in hospitality, Condé Nast Traveler Vice President and Publisher Carolyn Kremins bestowed the prestigious Navigator Award upon Bellagio during an exclusive invitation-only event on January 21.
Bellagio President & COO Randy Morton accepted the award on behalf of the resort’s more than 8,000 employees during the inaugural Gold List 2012 event held at Hyde Bellagio.
“We are deeply honored to receive this award from one of the world’s preeminent publications in luxury travel,” said Morton. “This recognition is a testament to Bellagio’s incredible employees who strive to create exceptional experiences for every guest that walks through our doors.

Kremins said, “We are thrilled to bestow the second-ever Navigator Award upon Bellagio. Since opening in late 1998, it has been one of our readers’ perennial favorites, and has truly set a Gold Standard for excellence in hospitality.”
This is only the second time Condé Nast Traveler has granted the Navigator Award; the first time was in 2009 to Gov. Linda Lingle on behalf of the State of Hawaii.
Bellagio has received several editorial honors from Condé Nast Traveler including the prized Gold List (World’s Best Hotels annually 2000 – 2012); The Reader’s Choice Poll (annually 2000 – 2011); and the all-new Platinum Circle (recognizing more than five consecutive years of Gold List status).

AMERICAN BURGER WORKS DELIVERS THE ULTIMATE HAMBURGER
JOINT AT EXCALIBUR HOTEL & CASINO
American Burger Works (ABX) will bring a new twist to the classic burger and fries combo to the Excalibur Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
ABX’s juicy burgers and authentic, crispy Belgium French fries will be served with a delicious complement: 15 flavorful dipping sauces. Some innovative favorites include bacon-mustard, cheddar cheese, chili-cilantro sour cream and Jack Daniel’s ketchup. Hot and spicy aficionados will love the horseradish cocktail sauce and spicy Sriracha ketchup. The sauces transform classic items with sophisticated flavors that will keep guests coming back for more.
“Everyone loves a great burger, and we’ve made it our mission to create the best burger and fries combo imaginable,” said Craig Gilbert, managing partner at Drive This! Entertainment. “We want people who come to ABX to walk out feeling like they just had the best burger and fries of their lives.”
“It’s all about the sauce,” added Michael Frey, managing partner at Drive This! Entertainment. “The sauces create 15 different tastes and flavor profiles so that guests can really make their burger and fries their own.”
The classic American burgers are made with all-natural, hormone-free quality beef. The milkshakes will feature the original Blue Bell ice cream flavors vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, with the option to have the best candy mix-ins including Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Oreo Cookies and Heath Bars. Other menu selections include turkey burgers, veggie burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches.
For all the early-morning risers, ABX offers signature breakfast items including a breakfast burrito made with eggs, potatoes, tomatoes, caramelized onions, cheese and bacon, and a smoke house sandwich made with jalapeno-cheddar sausage, a fried egg and cheese served on a biscuit. Because burgers are great at any time of the day, the menu includes a breakfast burger served with a fried egg, tomato and cheese.
The design evokes funky American East Coast culture with an industrial vibe featuring chandeliers that are made from mechanical gears and antique filament bulbs. America was born during the Industrial Revolution and ABX celebrates that era through its interior, complete with an entryway made from garage-style doors.
ABX will be open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner starting at 9 a.m. For more information about ABX, guests may call 702.597.7817 and follow ABX on Twitter @ABXLV and like the Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/AmericanBurgerWorks.

Dream Racing Launches in Las Vegas
DREAM RACING LAUNCHES IN LAS VEGAS
Drive a Professional Race Car at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Watch the Dream Racing experience
Dream Racing, the five-star racing experience, is now open at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Dream Racing offers thrill seekers the opportunity to become a race-car driver for the day, taking a track-ready Ferrari F430 GT for fast laps just like a professional. Dream Racing is the only place in Las Vegas where participants can take to the track at the wheel of a true automotive machine specifically tuned for professional Gran Turismo (GT) Racing.
Former race car drivers Enrico Bertaggia and Adriano De Micheli have created the ultimate first class racing experience for consumers, designed from years spent on the professional racing circuit. “We have traveled around the world throughout our racing careers,” said Bertaggia. “When we conceived the Dream Racing concept we knew that Las Vegas, with all of its energy and excitement, would provide the ideal location for such an exhilarating luxury adventure.”
The three hour Dream Racing experience begins with a shuttle to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway from the exclusive pick-up location inside Crystals at CityCenter. Once at the track, participants are greeted by hostesses who will guide them through each step to the finish line. First on the agenda is a 15 minute classroom instruction in the dedicated theater room to learn the proper handling of the 2700 pound race car. After that, racers get familiar with the twists and turns of the Las Vegas track with a session on the unique 3D professional simulators powered by iRacing.com, which features a laser scan of the track, and provides the realistic preparation necessary for the live driving portion of the day.
Adrenaline starts to build as the racing suits and helmets are donned in the locker room and drivers make their way to the cars. Drivers climb into the cockpit of a Ferrari and fasten the safety belts as a professional racing instructor takes the passenger seat, ready to provide guidance as needed. The pit crew preps for the start and the drivers are on their way in a race car able to go from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds. The 1.1 mile track is a permanent circuit designed to professional race specifications and features low, medium and high speed corners and a straight with a maximum speed of approximately 120 miles per hour.
After completing the five laps it is back to the custom designed lounge to revel in the thrill with fellow racing comrades and their guests before heading back to the Las Vegas Strip. The lounge encompasses a gift shop with branded merchandise for both men and women, a ‘bar’, large screen TVs with live action from the track, and the opportunity to follow all activities on pit lane from a panoramic window.
“Taking control of a racing car specifically built for the track is an unmatched experience that delivers indescribable emotions to drivers and passengers,” said De Micheli. “There is simply no comparison to a street car, much like there is no comparison between a jumbo airliner and jet fighter plane.”
The Dream Racing cars feature a steering wheel paddle shift, traction control and abs system, making the experience accessible to anyone with a driver’s license. Even at speeds that would not be street legal, the Ferrari F430 GT will prove to be more responsive, easier to handle and safer than most road cars. Dream Racing brings participants as close as possible to the thrill that only professional race car drivers have of taking these incredible machines to their limit.
The Dream Racing experience includes five exhilarating high speed laps around the track, instruction from professional drivers, use of racing suit and helmet and transportation between Crystals at CityCenter and Dream Racing for an all inclusive fee of $499. Five additional laps may be purchased for a supplementary $399 fee, and those that want the thrill of the race as a passenger can ride with a professional for two laps for $179.
Dream Racing offers experiences for individuals and groups and can create custom racing events for corporate groups as well. To book, call 702.599.5199 or visit dreamracing.com.
