The Taco Stand – Las Vegas Grand Opening – June 15th

The Taco Stand Takes on Las Vegas

Southern California-grown taqueria brings a taste of Tijuana to Chinatown

San Diego’s staple taqueria, The Taco Stand, will open its first Las Vegas location on June 15, adding to its four existing locations in San Diego, one in Orange County and one in Miami to date. Best known for slinging authentic, Tijuana-style tacos, this family-owned taco haven is a welcome addition to the Las Vegas culinary scene. Housed in a 1,778 square-foot space along Spring Mountain Road in Chinatown, the new outpost will feature the same popular menu items showcased at its other locations.

Co-Owners Julian Hakim and Aram Baloyan are well-versed in what it takes to deliver authentic Mexican food. Both originally from Tijuana, the two restaurateurs grew up eating at a dozen local taco stands on a weekly basis, enjoying fresh grilled carne asada with spicy salsas on homemade tortillas. Hakim says, “In Tijuana, tacos were always the go-to option when someone wanted a quick, but well-made meal.” After moving to San Diego, they quickly realized that finding the type of tacos they grew up enjoying was a challenge that inspired the opening of their first San Diego location in 2013.

“We created The Taco Stand out of a personal need to enjoy a place that served delicious tacos in San Diego,” says Hakim.  “It didn’t have to be anything fancy or flashy, just a fun spot to enjoy some awesome food. The model seems to have worked, and we’re thrilled by the response.”

Staying true to their vision, Hakim and Baloyan have maintained the same street taco stand vibe at all locations, now bringing those coveted taco creations to Las Vegas locals and visitors alike. Popular menu items include their specialty taco; Al Pastor, packed with rotisserie-marinated pork, cilantro, onions, cilantro sauce and pineapple, as well as their Nopal Taco, a vegetarian option crafted from flame-grilled cactus, melted cheese, cilantro sauce, tomato and avocado, both of which are served on made-to-order corn tortillas. Complete with a salsa bar brimming with daily-made salsas, there is a reason The Taco Stand continues to draw lines out-the-door on a daily basis.

The Taco Stand Las Vegas will be located at 3616 Spring Mountain Road, Las Vegas, NV 89102. http://letstaco.com/

BLVD Coffee reopens this week and Pawn Plaza installs PURE ZONE, anantimicrobial film laminate, for better hygiene and safety at the Plaza

BLVD COFFEE REOPENS THIS WEEK and OFFERS FREE COFFEE TO ALL FRONTLINE WORKERS THROUGH MAY

PAWN PLAZA ALSO MAKES PLAZA SAFER WITH ANTIMICROBIAL LAMINATE PUREZONE AT ALL PUBLIC TOUCH ZONES

The excitement of opening their new business, BLVD Coffee, in early March had the Carter family optimistic but the coronavirus had other plans for them.  Just two weeks later they closed for the safety of their new downtown community as well as everyone in Las Vegas.  That excitement is back as they reopen this week and return to normal hours of 8 am to 4 pm  and share their gratitude with frontline workers by offering them a free coffee through the end of the month.

The new Pawn Plaza tenant joins Good Pie, Rick’s Rollin Smoke BBQ & Tavern, Chumlee’s Candy on the Blvd., Chapels at the Pawn, Highway Radio, Pawn Plaza Visitors Center, Master Barbering Galo Shop and Elite Motorsports to round out the dining and shopping opportunities across the parking lot from the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop.

The reopened BLVD Coffee will now specialize on to go orders aimed at offices in the area.  “We felt like with all the businesses around our downtown location these offerings might be better suited to their needs and appetites and we know that adjusting to the current times will be instrumental to our success moving forward,” said Tim Carter.

The Carter family are Vegas basketball tradition and have called Las Vegas home for over a quarter century.  Dad “Big Mike” coaches at Bishop Gorman and has for more than two decades.  Younger son Ben is a professional basketball player overseas and mom Hadar, a former Israeli Army Lieutenant, is the heart of the family and the coffee operation.  Oldest son Tim will oversee operations after playing collegiate basketball.  The family has always bonded over coffee and thus BLVD Coffee was born.  “BLVD Coffee will support local businesses and to that end our coffee will come from Boulder City’s Colorado River Coffee Roasters,” said Tim Carter.

In addition to celebrating the reopening of BLVD Coffee, Pawn Plaza installed last week an antimicrobial film laminate, PURE ZONE, to make the location even safer for visitors, tenants and employees.  This innovative technology which is being installed by local company Purple Flare will have laminates at all touch zones at Pawn Plaza.  The biofilm used keeps germs from collecting on surfaces and lasts for several years.  The reduction in germs is 99.99% over surfaces not laminated by the product.  Purple Flare can be reached at purpleflareagency.com or 702 677 4200 for more information on the PURE ZONE product.

Pawn Plaza is located at 725 Las Vegas Boulevard South, just south of the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, home to HISTORY’s “Pawn Stars.” For the latest news and information on Pawn Plaza, visit pawnplaza.com or Like Pawn Plaza on Facebook.

Paitin is known for its old-vine parcel of Sori Paitin within the Serraboella cru; Serraboella represents one of the more structured crus in Barbaresco, like Montestefano or Albeisa.

As always, Ferraro’s award-winning chef will prepare imaginative dishes to accompany each wine. The full menu follows:

HENDERSON-BASED EATERY, THE STOVE, DEVISES PLAN TO EMERGE FROM THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC FRI., MAY 15

HENDERSON-BASED EATERY, THE STOVE, DEVISES PLAN TO EMERGE FROM THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC FRI., MAY 15

The Stove will resume dine-in service beginning Fri., May 15 based on Governor Sisolak’s directives. The Henderson-based eatery has devised an in-depth plan that will be executed during a week-long staff orientation to ensure a safe environment for their patrons upon reopening.

“Instead of an abrupt re-opening, we have decided to take the next week to abide by the new laws and regulations delegated by the state of Nevada to ensure a safe environment for all of our guests upon their return to The Stove,” said Executive Chef and Part Owner Antonio Nunez. “We are closely following the Southern Nevada Health Department’s guidelines, and have devised a 10-step plan in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s policies, giving our guests peace of mind as soon as they walk through our doors.”

The Stove is taking all of the necessary steps required by government officials to re-open, including requiring staff to wear protective masks and gloves at all times, reducing occupancy by 50%, installing hand sanitizer dispensers at the entrance,  wiping down key touch points on a frequent basis, and implementing a temporary reservation-based dining model until returning to full occupancy.

Beyond the standard efforts outlined by the state government, The Stove is implementing a new air filtration system as well as a state-of-the-art disinfectant that binds powerful, germ-killing chlorine atoms on any surface or clothing material. The solution, known as Medecide™, will destroy many pathogens including the Coronavirus, and remains active on any surface for up to 28 days.

The main dining room, private dining room and tea room will be split up into three different sanctions, with partitions implemented in certain areas of each of the dining areas. All furniture will be removed from the lobby to avoid congregated wait areas as guests must remain at a safe distance to ensure safety measures. Use of the elevator will be limited to the elderly, disabled, and those with strollers. Restrooms will be closed for 30 minutes each day for sanitization purposes.

In addition to resuming dine-in operations, The Stove will continue to offer curbside pickup and will implement an in-house delivery system. Seniors that take advantage of curbside pickup or delivery will enjoy a buy-one-get-one offer on all entrées, and can take advantage of any specials that were previously implemented in 2020.

Reservations can be made by calling (702) 625-5216 beginning Wednesday, May 13th for the restaurant’s re-opening date on May 15th. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

ABOUT THE STOVE

The Stove features multi-dimensional design dining experiences by celebrity chef Scott Commings, celebrated Vegas Valley local chef, Antonio Nunez, and General Contractor Steve Grodkiewicz of Established Culinary Management. Leisurely lounging at the main bar overlooking the main dining room with a pastry bar sets the scene for the backdrop of the restaurant. The adjacent room has the feel of a speakeasy as you enter, but the setting of a Mad Hatter tea room with an edgy, one-of-a-kind twist to service. New to the restaurant’s offering is the Chambong (champagne-meets-bong) experience all set to breathtaking views of the Valley.
