The smoky cocktail is prepared with El Silencio Mezcal Espadin, peach puree, fresh jalapeno and sweet and sour, priced at $10.75.

 The Mirage Hotel & Casino will expand its portfolio of diverse culinary works with the debut of Diablo’s Cantina, opening this December. The new location, open for lunch and dinner, will reimagine the unique south-of-the-border concept which opened at Luxor Hotel and Casino last year. Mirage guests will be invited to ignite their taste buds with vibrant Mexican food and cocktails deeply rooted in the culture and traditions of the country’s capital.

 

“Diablo’s has been a tremendous hit at Luxor,” said MGM Resorts Senior Vice President of Food & Beverage Strategy Ari Kastrati. “The expansion of the concept to The Mirage – with a great location inside the resort just steps away from Las Vegas Boulevard – will give tourists, guests and visitors another opportunity to enjoy our take on great Mexican food in a fun, energetic environment.”

Unique to The Mirage, Diablo’s Cantina will feature a guacamole bar offering a variety of guacamole styles for guests to sample, each with varying spices that create distinct and flavorful takes on the original. Guests also can expect many of the signature dishes and libations that have become guest favorites including:

  • The Vixen: Margarita made with blanco tequila, fresh-squeezed lime juice, hibiscus and mint
  • Mexican Fare Corn: Roasted sweet yellow corn topped with cotija cheese, mayo and chili powder

Celebration of Vegas’ Hockey Team’s 2019-2020 Season

Therapy, located in the Fremont East Entertainment District at 518 E. Fremont St., will take a chance this hockey season with a specialty “Golden” cocktail menu to celebrate Las Vegas’ home hockey team, entering its third season, starting Wednesday, Oct. 2.

 

Therapy’s “Golden” cocktail menu will include the Golden Glory, made with passion fruit syrup, peach liqueur and pineapple juice, topped with Guinness Blonde lager; Knights on Ice, made with Cana Brava rum, Pineapple Reàl, orange juice, pineapple juice and heavy cream, served in a glass with a gold sugar rim and garnished with a golden covered cherry; and a dessert cocktail, the McFleury, made with brandy, Darke Crème de Cacao and half-and-half, poured over a scoop of Luciano Pellegrini brown sugar gelato in a chocolate drizzled glass, topped with whipped cream and edible gold flakes. All “Golden” cocktails will be priced at $10.

Dessert selections include banana pudding, banana cream mixed with whipped cream, Nilla wafers, fresh bananas and banana cake; butter cake, topped with cream cheese frosting and fresh berries; the “brookie,” a brownie mixed with a chocolate chip cookie; and cookies and cream cheesecake, prepared with an Oreo crust, whipped cream and Oreo crumble.

About Chef Sam “Sammy D” DeMarco:
Working in restaurants since the age of 15, Chef Sam “Sammy D” DeMarco was part of the pioneer culinary school class at New York Institute of Technology in Long Island, N.Y. This month, The Bazaar by José Andrés launched its signature Dessert Graffiti at all locations including Bazaar Meat by José Andrés inside SAHARA Las Vegas.

 

Originally launched at the flagship Bazaar location in Beverly Hills, Dessert Graffiti is designed to be shared by four to six guests and is artfully presented tableside, featuring more than a dozen bites. “Our graffiti is like a canvas,” said Bazaar Beverly Hills Pastry Chef Mitzi Reyes. “They’re all going to be a little different depending on who makes it — we each bring our own artistic perspective to the dessert.”

 

Dessert Graffiti combines the culinary and visual arts with philanthropy; each monthly iteration of the dessert is inspired by a different cause, with a portion of profits benefitting a corresponding charity. Previous partners in Beverly Hills have included the Wyland Foundation for the “Under the Sea” Dessert Graffiti board, a tableau of aquatic life in dessert form. Upcoming Dessert Graffiti offerings and partnerships will launch monthly and will be consistent across all three locations.

 

In September, all Bazaar locations will honor National Honey Month, collaborating with The Bee Informed Partnership. This inspiring experience escorts groups to up to four locations, with each restaurant presenting an array of distinctive dishes while patrons relax and mingle. On this tour, guests will get a taste of the best the Arts District has to offer as they meet some of its most distinctive chefs. The first stop is Esther’s Kitchen, where the seasonal Italian cuisine is served on handmade tableware fashioned at a pottery studio just steps away from the restaurant. Chef James Trees, a Las Vegas native, has worked under such culinary luminaries as Gordon Ramsay, Eric Ripert, Ray Garcia and Michael Mina. The restaurant, named for his Great-Aunt Esther whose generosity helped him attend the Culinary Institute of America and open his first restaurant, specializes in scratch-made pastas, pizzas and breads.

At Jammyland, guests will feast not only with their palate, but also their eyes. Former New Yorkers Danielle Crouch and Allan Katz opened this Jamaica restaurant in a converted garage with a spacious patio with twinkling lights featuring two vibrant wall murals, including one that depicts the history of Jamaican music around the globe. Here, guests can groove to Reggae tunes, peruse an extensive rum list, and feast on modern Caribbean fare such as the classic meat patty with curried grass-fed beef enfolded in a turmeric-scented pastry, as well as the popular jerk wings which are marinated for 24 hours and smoked in-house.

Afterward, guests get a chance to stretch their legs while taking in iconic artwork, including “Paintbrush Gateway,’’ Dennis Oppenheim’s two 45-foot tall steel paintbrushes that emit beams of rainbow-colored LED light 2,000 feet skyward. They will also see the thought-provoking “Chain Migration’’ by artist Izaac Zevalking, known as the Recycled Propaganda, which depicts the Statue of Liberty in handcuffs.

The tour excursion ends with a sweet taste of history. At Cornish Pasty Co., Cornwall, England native Dean Thomas continues the tradition of making English, hand-held pies that originated in the 1200s when wives and mothers baked them as a convenient packable lunch for miners. Thomas also serves classic British desserts, including Banoffee Pie made with house-made caramel, fresh bananas and a fluff of whipped cream; Sticky Toffee Pudding; and Chocolate Bread & Butter Pudding that features warm, house-baked bread soaked in a rich chocolate-brandy sauce and served crisp on the outside and custardy within.

In honor National Pancake Day, all PT’s Taverns, including PT’s Pub, PT’s Gold, PT’s Ranch, PT’s Brewing Company, Sean Patrick’s, Sierra Gold and SG Bar, will offer $3 buttermilk pancakes all day on Thursday, Sept. 26.

 

PT’s buttermilk pancakes are served in a stack of three, topped with powdered sugar and maple syrup and will be discounted for the holiday. Additionally, PT’s Happy Hour offerings are available daily from 5 to 7 p.m., and midnight to 2 a.m. Selections priced at $6 include Sriracha chicken bites and loaded potato skins; $7 selections include a half-pound pub burger and chicken parmesan sliders; and flatbreads, including three-cheese, meat feast, the Gilroy and buffalo chicken, will be priced at $8.

PT’s Happy Hour, named “Best Happy Hour” by the Las Vegas Weekly in 2019, includes offerings available daily from 5 to 7 p.m., and midnight to 2 a.m. PT’s Happy Hour offers a 50 percent discount on drinks including wines by the glass, premium spirits and all craft and import beer, which includes PT’s own craft brews such as the Golden Hefeweizen and Hualapai IPA.

 

Other PT’s Happy Hour selections include $6 include Sriracha chicken bites and loaded potato skins; $7 half-pound pub burgers and chicken parmesan sliders; and $8 flatbreads, including three-cheese, meat feast, the Gilroy and buffalo chicken. Menus vary by location.
