Dolly Parton Celebrates 50th Anniversary Of Her Debut Album, ‘Hello, I’m Dolly’

DOLLY PARTON CELEBRATES 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF HER DEBUT ALBUM, ‘HELLO, I’M DOLLY’

Contained Hits “Dumb Blonde” and “Something Fishy”

50 years ago today, Dolly Parton released her first full-length album, Hello, I’m Dolly. The album, which debuted on Monument Records, contained Parton’s hits “Dumb Blonde” (written by Curly Putman) and “Something Fishy” (written by Parton). Both singles reached the top twenty on the country singles charts, and the album itself reached #11 on the country albums chart.

Produced by Fred Foster, Hello, I’m Dolly caught the attention of Porter Wagoner, who ultimately invited Parton to become a member of his band and appear on his popular weekly television show. These appearances led to Parton’s rise to superstardom and she became a bonafide household name.

“I can’t believe it’s been 50 years since I did my first album,” Parton recalls. “What a wonderful 50 years it has been. Thanks to my Uncle Bill Owens and Fred Foster for believing in me early on. And thanks to all the fans out there…I hope to have at least another 50 years!”

The album contained Parton’s versions of three songs she wrote that had already been hits for other artists: “Put it Off Until Tomorrow” (Bill Phillips), “Fuel to the Flame” (Skeeter Davis), and “I’m In No Condition” which charted by Hank Williams Jr.

Dolly has garnered 7 Grammy Awards, 10 Country Music Association Awards, 5 Academy of Country Music Awards, 3 American Music Awards and is one of only five female artists to win the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year Award. Making her film debut in the 1980 hit comedy “9 to 5,” Dolly earned rave reviews for her performance and an Oscar nomination for writing the title tune, along with her second and third Grammy Awards. Roles in “Steel Magnolias,” “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas,” “Rhinestone,” and “Straight Talk” followed. Dolly saw a cherished dream become a reality in 1986 with the opening of her own theme park, Dollywood, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. In 1988, Dolly began the Dollywood Foundation which funds Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library across America and in Canada by giving every preschool child a book each month from the time he or she is born until the child reaches kindergarten. Currently 80,000,000 books are mailed to children in the US, Canada and throughout the UK. In 1999, Dolly was inducted as a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. She has her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and in 2004, the U.S. Library of Congress presented her with their Living Legend Award for her contribution to the cultural heritage of the United States. In December 2015, more than 13 million tuned into “Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors” and was the most-watched film on broadcast networks since May 2012. The sequel, “Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Christmas Colors: Circle of Love,” was equally as successful garnering 14 million viewers. In December 2016, Dolly’s humanitarian efforts shined once again, as she created the Smoky Mountains Rise telethon which helped raise close to $10 million to benefit the victims of the East Tennessee wildfires.

MULTI-MEDIA ENTERTAINER WITH TRIBUTE PERFORMANCE

Multi-media entertainment mogul Reba will receive the first-ever NASH Icon Award during the inaugural AMERICAN COUNTRY COUNTDOWN AWARDS, airing Monday, Dec.15 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. Having become a household name because of her success in music, television, film, theater and retail, Reba is often hailed as the “Queen of Country Music.” Her reign boasts 35 No. 1 singles and more than 56 million albums sold worldwide, as well as leading Pollstar and Billboard Boxscore as the No. 1 female country touring artist with more than nine million tickets sold.

Multi-platinum artists Kelly Clarkson and Miranda Lambert will honor Reba by performing some of her classic hits and best-known songs LIVE from the AMERICA’S COUNTRY COUNTDOWN AWARDS stage. Longtime friend and radio host Kix Brooks will present Reba with the NASH Icon Award during the live show at Nashville’s Music City Center.

“The NASH Icon Award celebrates an iconic artist who has made a profound and lasting impact on country music, and Reba is the embodiment of such an icon,” said executive producer Mark Bracco. “Her stellar career has influenced generations of artists and fans alike and we’re proud to recognize her accomplishments and her ongoing musical impact.”

“Besides being one of the classiest people to ever grace Nashville, Tennessee, Reba has not just done it her way, but she’s gotten all of her recognition the old fashioned way,” said Kix Brooks. “She’s earned it and I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to tour with her dragging 21 trucks and 19 busses around, and to hear her sing by the campfire. Besides being a talented actor and host, she is seriously one of the best singers I’ve ever heard. Reba sings with her head, her heart and that amazing voice. She’s a treasure Nashville should forever be grateful for…Congratulations Red!”

Reba is a Country Music Hall of Fame and Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame inductee and has won 15 American Music Awards, 13 ACM Awards, nine People’s Choice Awards, seven CMA Awards, two Grammy Awards, and an ACM Career Achievement Honor, in addition to receiving the National Artistic Achievement Award from the U.S. Congress. Most recently, Reba became the inaugural signing on Nash Icon Music, an innovative new joint venture label between Big Machine Label Group and Cumulus. She is currently in the studio recording her first new music in over five years with long-time producer Tony Brown, and is collaborating with James Stroud to blend their multi-platinum career success.

AMERICAN COUNTRY COUNTDOWN AWARDS is based on country music’s longest-running radio countdown show (41 years), “American Country Countdown with Kix Brooks,” and will honor country music’s biggest stars based on album sales and radio airplay. The NASH Icon Award aptly gets its namesake from Cumulus’ NASH brand, which serves as host to the radio program. Superstar duo Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard will host and perform. Country music heavyweights Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood, along with country’s newest star Brett Eldredge, also are set to perform.

The AMERICAN COUNTRY COUNTDOWN AWARDS is produced by dick clark productions.  Allen Shapiro (CEO, dick clark productions), Mike Mahan (President, dick clark productions), Mark Bracco (Executive Vice President, Programing and Development, dick clark productions), John Dickey (Executive Vice President of Content and Programming, Cumulus), Richard Godfrey (“MTV Europe Music Awards”) and Tom Forrest (“CMT Crossroads”) are executive producers. Baz Halpin is co-executive producer.

AMERICAN COUNTRY COUNTDOWN AWARDS finalists and winners, other than Breakthrough Artist of the Year, are determined based on statistics and radio airplay charts from Nov. 1, 2013-Oct. 31, 2014. The finalists for Album of the Year were based on album sales from SoundScan and the finalists for Artist of the Year were based on a combination of Mediabase airplay, digital data provided by Big Champagne and tour information from Pollstar. All other award categories were made up of those with the largest audience reach, according to Mediabase.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill Bring Soul2Soul to The Venetian Las Vegas

THE VENETIAN® LAS VEGAS
ANNOUNCES ITS BIGGEST MUSICAL EVENT EVER

COUNTRY MUSIC SUPERSTARS TIM MCGRAW AND FAITH HILL
BRING AN ALL-NEW “SOUL2SOUL” TO
THE VENETIAN® LAS VEGAS

Pre-sale tickets for this limited engagement begin tomorrow, Aug. 8;
Tickets for the general public go on sale Monday, Aug. 13

Collectively, they’ve sold 70 million albums, won eight Grammy Awards, 14 Country Music Association Awards, 14 American Music Awards, seven People’s Choice Awards and 26 Academy of Country Music Awards.  Today, at a live ‘town-hall’ press conference, The Venetian® Las Vegas announced the biggest musical event in its history – Tim McGraw and Faith Hill “Soul2Soul.”  This limited engagement, which opens on Dec. 7 and covers 10 weekends through April 2013, will take place in the 1,815-seat Venetian Theater.  A ticket pre-sale will begin tomorrow and tickets for the general public will go on sale Monday, Aug. 13.

“Soul2Soul” at The Venetian will mark the first time in six years that McGraw and Hill have performed together in the United States. “Soul2Soul” will feature an all-new production with innovative lighting and set design technologies that were synonymous with the “Soul2Soul” concerts.  The Venetian Theater will also be modified to accommodate this new production.  These “Soul2Soul” concerts will include many of the no. 1 hits that have made them, both in their own right, two of the most significant entertainers of our generation.

“We are creating a show that will be completely different from what we’ve done before – and might ever do again,” said Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. “In arenas and stadiums, you’re always faced with the challenge of finding ways to make people feel closer to the action, no matter where they might be sitting. Now everyone will be close, so it opens up all kinds of creative possibilities and we’re looking forward to exploring those so that we can really give our fans something truly special.”

“It’s not every day that Las Vegas welcomes such stellar star power to the Strip,” said John Caparella, president and chief operating officer of The Venetian, The Palazzo & Sands Expo. “Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are country music’s first couple and we are proud to have such extraordinary talent. When they hit our stage in December it will surely be the hottest ticket in town.”

McGraw and Hill have been dominating the music charts since the early ‘90s and began performing together in 2000 in their record-breaking “Soul2Soul” tour, becoming that year’s top grossing and most successful U.S. tour. Their success continued in 2006 when “Soul2Soul II” returned to the road. It became the highest grossing country music tour of all time, the most attended of the year in any musical genre and remains the highest grossing multi-year North American tour in country music history.

McGraw, whose hits include “Live Like You Were Dying,” “Everywhere” and “Real Good Man,” has sold more than 40 million records worldwide and dominated the charts with 32 no. 1 singles.  He’s won three Grammy Awards, 14 Academy of Country Music Awards, 11 Country Music Association Awards, 10 American Music Awards, three People’s Choice Awards and numerous other honors. With 7.8 million spins at radio, McGraw was deemed Artist of the Decade from 2000-2010 by Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems.  Also an accomplished actor, McGraw’s film credits include “Country Strong,” the Academy Award nominated “The Blind Side,” “Four Christmases,” “The Kingdom,”  “Flicka” and “Friday Night Lights.”

Hill’s nineteen-year career has been highlighted by the sale of more than 30 million records worldwide, during which time she has celebrated thirteen no. 1 singles and twenty no. 1 videos. She was the first female artist to have three studio albums – 1999’s “Breathe,” 2002’s “Cry” and 2005’s “Fireflies” – all debut consecutively at no. 1 on Billboard’s Top Pop Album Chart and Country Chart.  Hill is a five-time Grammy Award winner, who has also won three Country Music Association Awards, 12 Academy of Country Music Awards, four American Music Awards, and four People’s Choice Awards.  For the fifth consecutive year, Hill is once again the voice of NBC’s Sunday Night Football’s weekly show open.
