ACM 50th Milestone Award_David Yurman

The Academy of Country Music and dick clark productions announced today that Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Reba, George Strait, Taylor Swift, and Brooks & Dunn will be honored with the prestigious 50th Anniversary Milestone Award commemorating their groundbreaking career achievements in ACM Awards history. The seven honorees will each receive an exclusive trophy created by renowned jewelry and timepiece designer, David Yurman, during the 50th Academy of Country Music Awards. The ceremony, co-hosted by Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan, will be broadcast LIVE, and as previously announced, extended by half an hour in celebration of its golden anniversary, from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 8:00 PM – 11:30PM ET/delayed PT on the CBS Television Network.

The Academy of Country Music 50th Anniversary Milestone Award recognizes artists that have advanced the popularity and acceptance of country music by accomplishing milestones unique to the Academy of Country Music, voted on by the ACM Board of Directors.

“The history of the ACM Awards and country music would not be the same without the incredible achievements by these seven superstars,” said Bob Romeo, CEO for the Academy of Country Music. “We are so thankful to David Yurman for partnering with us and creating such a perfectly crafted trophy that memorializes these amazing milestones.”

The 50th Anniversary Milestone Award trophy, designed by David Yurman, is crafted in America by master silversmiths and sculpted out of more than 1,010 grams of sterling silver on a zinc base. Each aspect of the special award reflects an element of the brand. The curved silver flutes echo the iconic Cable motif, and the hat is edged with 4.16 carats of black diamonds while the band gleams in 18k gold, introducing the designer’s love of mixing metals. Topping off the statue is black onyx carved in the shape of David’s signature Albion® gemstone, with the numeral 50 inlaid in 18k gold. Each winner’s name will be engraved in the sterling silver plate and the back of the base features the designer’s logo.

“These artists have reached an incredible milestone in their careers – this acknowledgement is extraordinary,” said Designer and CEO, David Yurman. “And the fact that the Academy of Country Music asked me, a sculptor turned jeweler, to collaborate on this award was truly an honor.”

KENNY CHESNEY TO PERFORM ON FIRST-EVER
AMERICAN COUNTRY COUNTDOWN AWARDS21st Century’s Biggest Country Ticket Seller Gets “Groundbreaker Award”
for Innovation, Excellence and Expanding The Genre,
Presented by Vince Vaughn
Airing Live, Monday, December 15, on FOX

Kenny Chesney, the only country artist in Billboard’s Top 10 Touring Acts of the Last 25 Years, will perform on the inaugural AMERICAN COUNTRY COUNTDOWN AWARDS airing live from Nashville’s Music City Center on Monday, December 15 (8:00 – 10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. Chesney, deemed “the People’s Superstar” by The Los Angeles Times, will perform his latest single, “Til It’s Gone,” before receiving the Groundbreaker Award for innovation, excellence and expanding the country music genre. The award will be presented by actor/producer/writer Vince Vaughn.

“They told me this award recognizes taking country new places and to a lot of new people,” Chesney said. “The truth is: all I did was sing songs I’d lived – and I knew people like me had lived. Show people their lives as a desirable thing, right where they are, and do a show that says, ‘We’re all here to have the best night of the summer,’ and they’re going to respond. So when I was trying to figure out what to sing, ‘Til It’s Gone’ felt right. It’s a song about being committed to the people you love, no matter what – and that’s how I feel about every single member of the No Shoes Nation.”

“Til It’s Gone” hit Billboard’s Top 5 this week. It follows “American Kids,” his Grammy Award-nominated, two-week No. 1 from “The Big Revival,” up the charts. “The Big Revival” is Chesney’s 13th Billboard Country Album Chart No. 1 debut.

“Connecting with the fans is what drives me,” Chesney explains. “Whatever we give them, they give us back double. That inspires everything we do. When I was cutting ‘Til It’s Gone,’ even though it’s a love song between two people, I always heard it as a song to the No Shoes Nation: ‘One life, one chance, one ticket to the big dance/ You and me, hanging on, right down to the last song…’ What other song would I do for an award that’s as much the fans’ as it is for me and the guys?”

The AMERICAN COUNTRY COUNTDOWN AWARDS “Groundbreaker Award” is given to an artist who has consistently pushed the boundaries of what is possible within the definitions of today’s country music. It recognizes trailblazing in the realm of concerts, musical accomplishment, creative innovation and connecting with fans across the United States. The award will be presented by actor/producer/writer Vince Vaughn.

Kenny Chesney has sold over a million tickets to each of his 11 headlining tours since 2002. An eight-time Entertainer of the Year, with four consecutive Academy of Country Music and four Country Music Association Awards, the man The Wall Street Journal crowned “The King of the Road” has also won the American Music Award’s Favorite Artist, the ACM’s Top Male Vocalist and Single of the Year (“The Good Stuff”) and the CMA’s Album of the Year (the sextuple-platinum “When The Sun Goes Down”), Video and Vocal Event Awards. With over 30 million albums sold – 7 debuting at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums and 13 topping Billboard’s Country Album chart, his “The Big Revival” has spawned the multiple week No. 1 “American Kids,” certified Platinum, and the Top 5 and climbing “Til It’s Gone.”

AMERICAN COUNTRY COUNTDOWN AWARDS is based on country music’s longest-running radio countdown show, “American Country Countdown with Kix Brooks,” and will honor country outstanding artists based on album sales and radio airplay. In addition to Chesney, country music stars Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Brett Eldredge, Florida Georgia Line, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood, along with multi-platinum superstar Kelly Clarkson, are set to perform. Also, multimedia entertainer Reba will receive the first-ever NASH Icon Award, presented by Kix Brooks, which celebrates an iconic artist whose extraordinary talent has influenced generations of musicians and who has made a profound and lasting impact on country music. REBA TO RECEIVE NASH ICON AWARD
AT THE FIRST-EVER “AMERICAN COUNTRY COUNTDOWN AWARDS”
LIVE MONDAY, DECEMBER 15, ON FOXKELLY CLARKSON AND MIRANDA LAMBERT TO HONOR
MULTI-MEDIA ENTERTAINER WITH TRIBUTE PERFORMANCE

Multi-media entertainment mogul Reba will receive the first-ever NASH Icon Award during the inaugural AMERICAN COUNTRY COUNTDOWN AWARDS, airing Monday, Dec.15 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. Having become a household name because of her success in music, television, film, theater and retail, Reba is often hailed as the “Queen of Country Music.” Her reign boasts 35 No. 1 singles and more than 56 million albums sold worldwide, as well as leading Pollstar and Billboard Boxscore as the No. 1 female country touring artist with more than nine million tickets sold.

Multi-platinum artists Kelly Clarkson and Miranda Lambert will honor Reba by performing some of her classic hits and best-known songs LIVE from the AMERICA’S COUNTRY COUNTDOWN AWARDS stage. Longtime friend and radio host Kix Brooks will present Reba with the NASH Icon Award during the live show at Nashville’s Music City Center.

“The NASH Icon Award celebrates an iconic artist who has made a profound and lasting impact on country music, and Reba is the embodiment of such an icon,” said executive producer Mark Bracco. “Her stellar career has influenced generations of artists and fans alike and we’re proud to recognize her accomplishments and her ongoing musical impact.”

“Besides being one of the classiest people to ever grace Nashville, Tennessee, Reba has not just done it her way, but she’s gotten all of her recognition the old fashioned way,” said Kix Brooks. “She’s earned it and I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to tour with her dragging 21 trucks and 19 busses around, and to hear her sing by the campfire. Besides being a talented actor and host, she is seriously one of the best singers I’ve ever heard. Reba sings with her head, her heart and that amazing voice. She’s a treasure Nashville should forever be grateful for…Congratulations Red!”

Reba is a Country Music Hall of Fame and Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame inductee and has won 15 American Music Awards, 13 ACM Awards, nine People’s Choice Awards, seven CMA Awards, two Grammy Awards, and an ACM Career Achievement Honor, in addition to receiving the National Artistic Achievement Award from the U.S. Congress. Most recently, Reba became the inaugural signing on Nash Icon Music, an innovative new joint venture label between Big Machine Label Group and Cumulus. She is currently in the studio recording her first new music in over five years with long-time producer Tony Brown, and is collaborating with James Stroud to blend their multi-platinum career success.

AMERICAN COUNTRY COUNTDOWN AWARDS is based on country music’s longest-running radio countdown show (41 years), “American Country Countdown with Kix Brooks,” and will honor country music’s biggest stars based on album sales and radio airplay. The NASH Icon Award aptly gets its namesake from Cumulus’ NASH brand, which serves as host to the radio program. Superstar duo Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard will host and perform. Country music heavyweights Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood, along with country’s newest star Brett Eldredge, also are set to perform.

The AMERICAN COUNTRY COUNTDOWN AWARDS is produced by dick clark productions.  Allen Shapiro (CEO, dick clark productions), Mike Mahan (President, dick clark productions), Mark Bracco (Executive Vice President, Programing and Development, dick clark productions), John Dickey (Executive Vice President of Content and Programming, Cumulus), Richard Godfrey (“MTV Europe Music Awards”) and Tom Forrest (“CMT Crossroads”) are executive producers.
