THE CHEESES OF EUROPE LAUNCHES NEW MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS CAMPAIGN:  “MAKE IT MAGNIFIQUE”

Campaign Features New Media and Creative Initiatives Designed to Grow Awareness for French Cheeses Amongst American Consumers

From grilled cheese to grilled steak, from brunch to “burger night,” any dish goes from GOOD to GREAT to MAGNIFIQUE with the addition of the Cheeses of France. It’s the core idea behind the new campaign, “Make it Magnifique,” which The Cheeses of Europe Marketing Council is delighted to announce has officially launched. To bring the campaign to life, The Cheeses of Europe elicited the help of celebrity chefs and former Top Chef contestants Angelo Sosa, Candice Kumai and Camille Becerra, each of whom created their own set of extraordinary recipes with accompanying 2-minute online recipe videos. With these videos, as well as “Fromage Lesson” Internet commercials, television commercials, online banners, magazine ads, in-store tastings, media events, a comprehensive cheese lover’s website, a cheese pairing app, and targeted PR and social media initiatives, the campaign will demonstrate that the addition of a French cheese can truly elevate a dish and “Make it Magnifique.”

“The goal of this campaign is to demonstrate to US consumers that the Cheeses of France can easily be incorporated into their own dishes at home,” states Laurent Damiens, Communications Director at CNIEL, the French trade body for dairy products that oversees the The Cheeses of France Marketing Council. “French cheeses may be consumed at any time of the day, are absolutely adaptable to American cuisine, and turn a simple meal into something magnifique.”

The new “Make it Magnifique” campaign will highlight seven French cheeses in 2014 (Brie, Camembert, Emmental, Raclette, Mimolette, Comté & Fourme d’Ambert), with a new set of French cheeses slated to be featured in 2015.

On June 30, the Cheeses of Europe debuted a new website that showcases these seven cheeses and more. The website includes the following: a glossary of the cheeses; a full catalog of recipes where consumers can search for recipes based on meal type (Appetizer, Main, Side, Dessert) and style of cheese (Soft, Semi-Soft, Hard, Blue); a list of online and in-store retailers; a listing of upcoming events (including events at the French Cheese Board, a new space in NY that will be utilized to promote French cheeses); and select videos featuring the celebrity chefs. www.thecheesesofeurope.com

The twenty select 2-minute recipe videos feature celebrity chefs Angelo Sosa, Candice Kumai and Camille Becerra showcasing their favorite recipes utilizing the Cheeses of France, such as Mac and Mimolette, Grilled Steak with Fourme d’Ambert, Grilled Cheese with Emmental and Comté, Baked Camembert, Red Onion and Raclette Pizza and Ham and Brie Quiche.

In addition, on July 1, the Cheeses of Europe launched a six-week television ad campaign in the NY Tri-State Area, The ad will run on NBC, HGTV, Cooking Channel & Food Network, and utilize the eight fromage lesson commercials.

“The Make it Magnifique campaign is based on a simple and honest truth — any occasion, any recipe, any dish is made better when you add French Cheese,” continues Damiens. “By incorporating French cheeses into your everyday dishes, you, too, can be a celebrity chef at home.

EVENT RECAP: “CHEFS TO THE MAX” DINNER AT RX BOILER ROOM RAISES $275,799 FOR LOCAL FOOD CRITIC MAX JACOBSON

Last night, Sunday, January 19, a group of the country’s most acclaimed chefs collaborated on the first “Chefs to the Max” dinner at Chef Rick Moonen’s Rx Boiler Room inside the Shoppes at Mandalay Place and raised a total of $275,799. The dinner was the first of a series to benefit critically injured Las Vegas-based food journalist Max Jacobson. The event featured a cocktail reception, sit-down seven-course dinner with wine pairing, as well as a live and silent auction for 100 guests. One-hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit Jacobson directly to help pay for mounting medical bills as a result of the accident.

Chefs in attendance included Megan Bringas, Kim Canteenwalla, Shirley Chung, John Church, Saipin Chutima, Barry Dakake, Susan Feniger, Bobby Flay, Hubert Keller, Thomas Keller, Rick Moonen, Grant MacPherson, Mary Sue Milliken, Bradley Ogden, Luciano Pellegrini, Vincent Pilon, Pino Posteraro, Vincent Pouessel, Joey Romano, Megan Romano, Angelo Sosa and David Walzog.

In addition, Rick Moonen challenged Bobby Flay to a “Kampachi Throwdown.” Moonen prepared a Chili Seared Kona Kampachi with avocado, ruby red grapefruit and yuzu butter sauce; and Flay prepared a Kona Kampachi with Korean red pepper-tangerine glaze with pickled Brussels sprout relish and squab egg. Guests voted and Rick Moonen was announced the winner.

Two days before Christmas 2013, Jacobson was struck by a car while in the crosswalk at Windmill Parkway and Pecos Road as he walked from home to the gym. He sustained severe brain trauma from the accident. He remains in critical condition at Kindred Healthcare.

Jacobson is currently Vegas Seven’s restaurant reviewer. Prior to that, he covered Orange County for the Los Angeles Times for 15 years. He moved to Las Vegas in 1999 to be the lead critic for Las Vegas Life. He has also written for numerous national culinary publications including Saveur and Gourmet. Jacobson recently co-authored “Eating Las Vegas” with fellow food critics Al Mancini and John Curtas.

Review/Photos: Poppy Den Vegas by Chef Angelo Sosa!

Poppy Den

Next time you go to Tivoli Village you HAVE to try Chef Angelo Sosa’s Poppy Den Vegas. This is a great restaurant with an awesome menu and incredible food. Vegas24Seven.com visitied Poppy Den Vegas on a Friday night and right away you could tell that this was a happening place. The bar at the entrance had a great feel with just the right volume of bumping music and a nice looking drink and wine list. We chose to dine inside with a great view of the lights, sights and sounds of Tivoli Village. There were lots of people dining outside amid the bustle of the courtyard as well.

The service was absolutely fantastic during the entire dining experience. Our server Justin explained everything wonderfully and was very attentive. Chef Angelo prepared us a feast of green papaya salad, edamame, chili crab toast, eggplant, tofu curry, roasted duck breast and panna cotta for dessert. Everything was incredible! The Chef takes every dish on the menu and puts his personal spin on it to create a unique dining experience. Vegas24Seven.com highly recommends Poppy Den Vegas and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Kudos Chef Angelo Sosa!

Red Carpet Photos of the FOOD & WINE All-Star Weekend At ARIA Resort & Casino

The second annual FOOD & WINE All-Star Weekend took place on FRIDAY, October 21 with a star-studded red carpet.

We had the pleasure to meet and take pictures of Gail Simmons and other celebrity chefs and epicurean icons! They included Michael Mina, Julian Serrano, Masayoshi Takayama and Shawn McClain in addition to Top Chef alumni Stephanie Izard, Angelo Sosa, Hosea Rosenberg, Yigit Pura and Sam Talbot.

This Red Carpet event was a lot of fun and well organized! One of the few that started on time! All the chef and epicurean icons seemed to be having fun getting their pictures taken. I did get a chance to talk to Top Chef alumni Angelo Sosa. He is super nice and was easy to talk to. He said is restaurant in New York Social Eatz is doing very well. He is in the process of opening a restaurant in California. I did ask if he planned on anything for Vegas he said “Yes in the next two years”! Angelo also has a cook book coming out in March that he is very excited about and so am I! I have been a fan of Top Chef since it started and Angelo was my favorite!  I did have to check out the jeans that they mention in the show. Yes ladies they are as they mention!
