In the ‘70s, Miller crafted a brand of rock ‘n’ roll music that has continued to dominate radio over the years. His hit singles include “The Joker,” “Livin’ in the USA,” “Take the Money and Run,” “Rock’n Me,” “Fly Like an Eagle,” “Jet Airliner,” “Jungle Love” and “Abracadabra.”  Currently, Miller contributes his time as a member of the Department of Musical Instruments of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and Jazz at Lincoln Center. In 1973, the band released its self-titled album featuring the hit single, “Free Bird.” The album went on to sell more than one million copies and put the band on a national platform. Lynyrd Skynyrd continued to grow its fan base with the release of its sophomore album, Second Helping, which featured one of the band’s most popular songs to date, “Sweet Home Alabama.” In 1977, three of the band’s members including lead vocalist and songwriter Ronnie Van Zant died in an airplane crash. The tragic accident ultimately led to the band’s breakup and Lynyrd Skynyrd didn’t reunite until a decade later. The reunion tour included the surviving band members as well as Johnny Van Zant, the younger brother of Van Zant and the new lead singer for the group. Despite a number of lineup changes, the band continued to record and tour over the next three decades.

Peter Frampton
Peter Frampton

Peter Frampton

Considered one of the biggest rock stars of the ‘70s, Peter Frampton got his start in music when he began playing the guitar at the age of eight. As a teenager, Frampton played in a couple of successful bands and decided to embark on a solo career in 1971. With the help of music stars including Ringo Starr and Billy Preston, Frampton released his debut studio album, Wing of Change, a year later. Despite help from some of the greats, the album did not sell well and his follow-up album experienced the same fate. Over the next couple years, he began touring and building a loyal fan base through his lively performances. In 1975, Frampton recorded a live album entitled Frampton Comes Alive!. The album was a huge commercial success, selling over 16 million copies and topping the charts for 10 weeks straight. It also produced his first three hit singles: “Baby, I Love Your Way,” “Do You Feel Like We Do” and “Show Me the Way.” Over the years, he continued to tour, record and release new music but nothing matched the success of his live album. In 2013, Frampton was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame.

Bruno Mars is a multitalented singer, songwriter, producer and musician who feels most at home when he’s performing. Born to a musical family in Honolulu, Hawaii, he was practically raised on the stage. After working a string of behind-the-scenes jobs – including writing songs for Brandy, singing backup for the Sugababes and impersonating Elvis – Bruno Mars got his name out in 2009 when he co-wrote Flo Rida’s hit song “Right Round.” One year later, he collaborated with rapper B.o.B on “Nothin’ on You,” and co-wrote Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire,” both of which became Top 10 hits. This momentum allowed Mars to launch a solo career, and he became first male vocalist in two decades to crack the Top Ten with his first four singles. His full length debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, appeared in 2010 and quickly produced a number one single with “Just the Way You Are.” At the end of 2012, Mars released Unorthodox Jukebox that featured the lead-off single “Locked Out of Heaven” and included production from Mark Ronson, Diplo and others. Mars is an 18-time Grammy Award nominee and Grammy winner who has also performed one of the world’s most prestigious gigs, the halftime show for Super Bowl XLVIII in February 2014. This year, Mars fronted Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk,” a song he co-wrote that was among the most popular singles of the year. Although he’s incredibly proud of the recordings, Mars feels the best way to experience the sound is to see him perform live with his band, The Hooligans.
