LYNYRD SKYNYRD RESCHEDULES LAS VEGAS DATE FOR LAST OF THE STREET SURVIVORS FAREWELL TOUR

LYNYRD SKYNYRD RESCHEDULES LAS VEGAS DATE FOR
LAST OF THE STREET SURVIVORS FAREWELL TOUR

Show Scheduled for Friday, August 16 at T-Mobile Arena
Has Been Rescheduled for Friday, October 18 as
Original Band Member Gary Rossington Recovers from Heart Surgery

Due to illness, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour Las Vegas date, scheduled for Friday, Aug. 16 at T-Mobile Arena, has been rescheduled for Friday, Oct. 18. Bad Company will remain as special guest co-headliner for the rescheduled date. Tickets purchased for the original August 16 date will be honored for the rescheduled October 18 date.

Guitarist and original member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Gary Rossington, has been experiencing fatigue and other symptoms related to a leaky heart valve. Rossington underwent a procedure on July 31 to repair the valve. To allow him proper time to recover, the band must reschedule the upcoming tour dates. Rossington is expected to make a full recovery.

“We all appreciate the well wishes for Gary and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” said Johnny Van Zant, the band’s lead vocalist. “But he can’t wait to come back and perform at 100% for the fans. We will see you all soon!”

Last year, the Southern Rock icons announced that after a career that has spanned more than 40 years and includes a catalog of more than 60 albums with more than 30 million units sold, they would embark on their Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour. Produced by Live Nation, the career-concluding farewell tour logged over 50 stops by the end of 2018 and has continued throughout 2019 taking the band across the country and around the globe giving fans one last unforgettable night of classic American Rock-and-Roll.

The Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour marks a big moment for generations of fans, as Lynyrd Skynyrd has been touring consistently since the 90s. The band, that USA Today called the “whiskey-soaked genre’s most popular and influential crew,” is ready to rock one last time. The farewell tour will take original member Rossington joined by Van Zant, Medlocke, Mark “Sparky” Matejka, Michael Cartellone, Keith Christopher, Peter Keys, Dale Krantz Rossington, Carol Chase and special guest Jim Horn across the country over the next year.

The legendary rockers are best known for the RIAA Platinum-certified “Sweet Home Alabama” and self-proclaimed signature song, “Free Bird,” that Rolling Stone said was “easily the most requested live song in existence.” With everlasting hits such as “Simple Man,” “Gimme Three Steps,” “What’s Your Name,” “Call Me The Breeze,” “You Got that Right,” and more, it is easy to see why Rolling Stone named Lynyrd Skynyrd one of its 100 Greatest Bands of All Time.

About Lynyrd Skynyrd
Original members Ronnie Van Zant, Bob Burns, Allen Collins, Gary Rossington, and Larry Junstrom formed the band in 1964, originally known as My Backyard, the band changed to its famous name in the early 1970s, and became popular in the Jacksonville, FL area, where the original members were from. They signed with Sounds of the South Records in 1972, and released their self-titled disc the following year. The album that featured “Free Bird,” arguably the most-recognized single in the Southern Rock genre, has sold more than 2 million units since its release. Later down the road the band recorded iconic tracks “Sweet Home Alabama” and “What’s Your Name.”

The band’s story took a tragic turn in October 1977 when a plane crash took the lives of Van Zant, Steve Gaines, backup singer Cassie Gaines, and several of their road crew. The band took a decade-long hiatus before reuniting for a tour and live album, Southern by the Grace of God. Since then, the band has toured and recorded extensively, with their most recent release being Last Of A Dyin’ Breed. The band’s current line-up includes original member Rossington, Johnny Van Zant, Rickey Medlocke, Mark “Sparky” Matejka, Michael Cartellone, Keith Christopher, Peter Keys, Dale Krantz Rossington and Carol Chase. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.

Despite a number of lineup changes, the band continued to record and tour over the next three decades.

Peter Frampton
Peter Frampton

Peter Frampton

Considered one of the biggest rock stars of the ‘70s, Peter Frampton got his start in music when he began playing the guitar at the age of eight. As a teenager, Frampton played in a couple of successful bands and decided to embark on a solo career in 1971. With the help of music stars including Ringo Starr and Billy Preston, Frampton released his debut studio album, Wing of Change, a year later. Despite help from some of the greats, the album did not sell well and his follow-up album experienced the same fate. Over the next couple years, he began touring and building a loyal fan base through his lively performances. In 1975, Frampton recorded a live album entitled Frampton Comes Alive!. The album was a huge commercial success, selling over 16 million copies and topping the charts for 10 weeks straight. It also produced his first three hit singles: “Baby, I Love Your Way,” “Do You Feel Like We Do” and “Show Me the Way.” Over the years, he continued to tour, record and release new music but nothing matched the success of his live album. In 2013, Frampton was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame.

Contributing greatly to the upended American culture in the late ’60s, Steve Miller formed the Steve Miller Band with guitarist James “Curly” Cooke, bassist Lonnie Turner and drummer Tim Davis. With albums like Children of the Future, Sailor and Brave New World, Miller created a psychedelic blues sound that drew on the deepest sources of American roots music while producing a compelling vision of what music and society could be in the future. In the ‘70s, Miller crafted a brand of rock ‘n’ roll music that has continued  to dominate radio over the years. His hit singles include “The Joker,” “Livin’ in the USA,” “Take the Money and Run,” “Rock’n Me,” “Fly Like an Eagle,” “Jet Airliner,” “Jungle Love” and “Abracadabra.”  Currently, Miller contributes his time as a member of the Department of Musical Instruments of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and Jazz at Lincoln Center. In April 2016, Miller will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Lynyrd Skynyrd and Peter Frampton
Friday, Aug. 19
8 p.m.; Doors at 7 p.m.
Tickets: $50 GA; Reserved prices starting at $50

Lynyrd Skynyrd
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Based out of Jacksonville, Florida, southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd came to popularity during the 1970s for its blues, rock and country infused sound. In 1973, the band released its self-titled album featuring the hit single, “Free Bird.” The album went on to sell more than one million copies and put the band on a national platform. Lynyrd Skynyrd continued to grow its fan base with the release of its sophomore album, Second Helping, which featured one of the band’s most popular songs to date, “Sweet Home Alabama.” In 1977, three of the band’s members including lead vocalist and songwriter Johnny Van Zant died in an airplane crash. The tragic accident ultimately led to the band’s breakup and Lynyrd Skynyrd didn’t reunite until a decade later. The reunion tour included the surviving band members as well as Johnny Van Zant, the younger brother of Van Zant and the new lead singer for the group.

SIGHTINGS: Justin Bieber, Dan Reynolds and Shaquille O’Neal at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas

hard rock

International music sensation Justin Bieber checked in to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas for two nights on Monday, Jan. 6 and Tuesday, Jan. 7. The singer, joined by his father Jeremy Bieber, manager John Shahidi and rapper Xavier “Lil Za” Smith, arrived in Las Vegas after a long road trip from San Francisco. During his stay, Justin uploaded a photo of his view of the Las Vegas Strip from his suite to his Instagram and Twitter accounts.

On Tuesday, Bieber along with five friends and family members dined at Culinary Dropout where they enjoyed Soft Pretzels with Provolone Fondue, the Grilled Chicken Club and the Gorgonzola Chicken Salad. Because the group was unable to decide on one genre of cuisine, they also indulged in dishes from a variety of dining options at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino while enjoying the hip and rebel-style ambiance of the gastropub. The group feasted on Nobu Las Vegas greatest hits selections featuring Black Cod Miso, Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeño, and Chicken Kushiyaki, as well as a plate of Fire Roasted Nachos from Mr. Lucky’s Café. Later, Jeremy stopped by Body English Nightclub & Afterhours for a private event featuring a performance by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Before a private concert at The Joint, Imagine Dragons lead singer Dan Reynolds was also spotted with a group of eight friends at Culinary Dropout. They noshed on some of the funky gastropub’s signature dishes including  Soft Pretzels with Provolone Fondue, Kale & Sweet Potato Salad, The Pub Burger, 36-Hour Pork Ribs, Fried Chicken, Butternut Squash Cannelloni and Turkey Pastrami.

That same evening, retired professional basketball player Shaquille O’Neal was across the casino at 35 Steaks + Martinis. There he enjoyed three scoops of vanilla ice cream as an appetizer and the Pan Roasted Chicken, an 8 ounce Filet Mignon and Macaroni and Cheese as an entrée.
