Due to popular demand, one of the world’s greatest rock bands – Journey – has added four new shows to the band’s limited engagement inside The Colosseum at Caesars Palace over New Year’s Eve week. Tickets for performances on Dec. 27, 28, 30 and 31 will go on sale to the public Friday, Aug. 2 at 10 a.m. PT. Additionally, a limited number of tickets are available for the following previously-announced performances: Oct. 9, 11, 12, 16, 18, 19, 23, 25 and 26.

General ticket prices for these four additional shows begin at $99, plus applicable tax and fees, and may be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com/journey or in-person at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace box office. All shows begin at 8 p.m.

The four New Year’s Eve week shows are presented by American Express®. American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Tuesday, July 30 at 10 a.m. PT through Thursday, Aug. 1 at 10 p.m. PT.

Raiding The Rock Vault, the ultimate rock experience, salutes bassist Hugh McDonald on his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, along with Bon Jovi. Hugh joins fellow Raiding the Rock Vault bandmate, guitarist Howard Leese, who was inducted with Heart in 2013.

JOURNEY ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAMERS ROSS VALORY AND JONATHAN CAIN VISIT LAS VEGAS ACADEMY OF THE ARTS, MAY 17

Journey band members and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Ross Valory and Jonathan Cain visited Las Vegas Academy of the Arts (LVA) on Wednesday, May 17 while in town for their second, nine-show residency at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas. During their visit to the performing arts school, Valory and Cain participated in a question and answer session with over 100 music students, answering a variety of questions from what inspires them to what their biggest learning experiences in life have been.

 

Cain, Journey’s keyboard player and backing vocalist, offered advice to students by telling them, “Stay inspired by writing something every day and write what’s in your mind and from your heart.” Valory, the bands bass player, followed Cain’s suggestion by saying, “Find a local musician that inspires and teaches you, and learn to read and write for the instrument you play.”

“The message Jonathan and Ross brought to our students was absolutely positive, inspiring and motivating,” said Bill Swick, music teacher at LVA. “These are the types of messages we want our students to receive from visiting artists who play the roles of heroes and idols.  Mr. Cain and Mr. Valory certainly fall into that category.”

 

Cain also recommended that students have a vision keeper. “My dad was my vision keeper and he always helped me stay the path and always told me, don’t stop believin’.” The legendary band members ended the visit by sharing the story of how their famous song “Don’t Stop Believin’” came to life. Journey Dines at Newly-Opened MB Steak at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Las Vegas

Iconic American rock band, Journey, spent Wednesday evening at newly-opened MB Steak at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

 

In town for their month-long residency at the Hard Rock, the band and their families dined at MB Steak following their shows on Wednesday. They appeared in good spirits, as they shared glowing reviews of the restaurant with their servers. The group shared a family-style meal, sampling items including  16-ounce bone-in filet, 18-ounce rib eye and 12-ounce Miyazaki Japanese Wagyu, all served with MB Steak’s signature seasoning.

 

Keyboardist Jonathan Cain raved about the food and service at MB Steak saying it was “unbelievable” and “this place is not to be missed; it has an amazing concept.” Cain returned to the restaurant on Thursday with his daughter and her band, who are opening for Journey this weekend. The group enjoyed a similar family-style menu to the previous evening, sipping Cain’s own “Finale” Wines.

In 2013, Smith began his innovative artwork built from rhythm. Working with art team SceneFour, the collection featured visuals crafted by fellow drummers—essentially “Rhythm-on-Canvas.”

“I call my collection The Fabric of Rhythm because I feel that this art is a view into the inner workings of the motions I use to make rhythms,” describes Smith. “With drumming, we hear only part of the motions that we make, and because the sticks and hands are generally travelling so fast, we don’t see all the motions being used.”

He explains, “With the process that we used to make this art, you see both the impacts and the spaces between the notes, it’s as if we are looking into the very fabric of the rhythms.”

Best known for his work as the drummer for Journey and Vital Information, Steve Smith grew up in the Boston area and started playing drums at the age of 9 in 1963. He studied music at the Berklee College of Music from 1972 to 1976. “Raiding the Rock Vault” has announced “Gimme Shelter” – a fundraising initiative to support Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Las Vegas’ only no-kill shelter for animals who have been abused, neglected, abandoned, or otherwise face homelessness and danger. On Sunday, August 2, musicians and cast members from “Raiding the Rock Vault” attended Nevada SPCA’s “Out of the Gutters,” an annual charity event, which took place at Sam’s Town, where they walked the red carpet, competed in a bowling tournament, and raised awareness and funding for the shelter’s mission and the furry friends it supports.

The knockout punch will be revitalized this summer with the launch of Big Knockout Boxing (BKB) which will debut at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, Saturday, Aug. 16. RAIDING THE ROCK VAULT has announced that bassist Hugh McDonald has joined its official lineup at LVH – LAS VEGAS HOTEL & CASINO. The esteemed musician, best known for his longtime work with Bon Jovi, has also performed throughout his career with music icons including Alice Cooper, Ringo Starr, and more.

 

Before joining Bon Jovi, McDonald was the bass player for the David Bromberg Band, touring world-wide and playing on many Bromberg albums. He was one of the studio musicians that recorded Bon Jovi’s original first demo for the song “Runaway.” McDonald has also recorded with Willie Nelson, Richie Sambora, Steve Goodman, and Lita Ford.

Dirty Heads’ fourth album Sound of Change is scheduled to be released in July while Pepper’s self-titled sixth studio album was released in late 2013.

Chart-topping vocalist Jake Owen will bring his Days of Gold Tour 2014 to Mandalay Bay Beach Saturday, Aug. 9. The country music star’s current album Days of Gold features the hit title track and current smash “Beachin,” which is in the Top 10 and climbing on country radio. Since releasing the gold-certified album Barefoot Blue Jean Night, Owen has emerged as one of country music’s leading vocalists. COUNTING CROWS
Mandalay Bay’s Beach stage will welcome the Counting Crows Sunday, Aug. 10 as part of its Beach Concert Series. The stage, which rises over the resort’s sand and surf wave pool, has hosted entertainment’s biggest names as part of this beloved series. Counting Crows has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide after entering the music scene with its 1993 multi-platinum breakout album August and Everything After. The group will be joined by California rock band Toad the Wet Sprocket.

Popular reggae musician Ziggy Marley will perform at the Mandalay Bay Beach Sunday, May 25. Marley, the oldest son of music legend Bob Marley, made his recording debut in 1979 with a group comprised of his father and three siblings. The group became known as The Melody Makers and released 14 albums over three decades. Ziggy Marley began his solo career in 2003 when he released Dragonfly (Ghetto Youths Crew), a record label he created while working with the United Nations. In 2006, he released his second solo album, Love Is My Religion, which won a GRAMMY Award for “Best Reggae Album.” His third solo album, Family Time, was released in 2009 and was dedicated to all of the children in the world.

American rock band 311 will return to the stage at the Mandalay Bay Beach for a performance scheduled for Saturday, June 28. The multi-platinum rock group will play an extended setlist of hits, rarities, covers and classics; backed by a state-of-the-art light and special effects show. Past shows also have included appearances by circus performers, aerial acrobats, fire twirlers, stilt walkers, drumlines and marching bands, making the experience energetic and entertaining. 311’s album Universal Pulse was released in July 2011 and debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard Top 200 with the group’s first single “Sunset in July” reaching No. 7 on the Alternative radio chart. Legendary guitarist Neal Schön has joined forces with bassist Marco Mendoza (Black Star Riders, Ted Nugent, Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy) and drummer Deen Castronovo (Journey, Ozzy Osbourne, Steve Vai, Hardline) to create a unique body of work with jazz and blues-inspired virtuosic hard rock playing, entitled SO U.  The new album features Schön, Mendoza and Castronovo splitting vocal and writing duties, with many of the tracks also co-written by Night Ranger/Damn Yankee’s songwriter, singer and bassist Jack Blades. Schön commented, “This is a great new record that features all three of us – Deen, Marco and myself – sharing lead vocals.  Enjoy!”
