South Point Hotel and Casino Becomes New Host for Annual Big City Showdown Between Findlay Prep and Bishop Gorman

“Some of the top young basketball players in the entire country are playing in our backyard, and we couldn’t be more excited to have these players competing at the South point during the Big City Showdown,” said South Point Hotel and Casino General Manager Ryan Growney. “This event is just another opportunity for us to showcase our commitment to the local community and our local customers.”

The BCS matchup, sponsored by Findlay Toyota, showcases the area’s most talented high school players from two of Las Vegas’ premier high school basketball teams. “We start our workout each and every day with this game on our minds,” said Grant Rice, head coach of Bishop Gorman. “We look forward to the challenge of once again playing the top-ranked Pilots.”

Last year’s showcase drew in a sold-out crowd of students, professional athletes, entertainers, politicians and local sports fans who witnessed Findlay Prep earn a hard fought victory in double overtime again their rivals.

“This is the game our players look forward to most on our schedule,” said Todd Simon, the new head coach of Findlay College Prep. “Having a game where every player knows each other creates a rivalry-like atmosphere unseen anywhere else.”

All proceeds from the bowling tournament and BCS event will benefit the SONV organization.
