Satisfaction…Guaranteed. Martin Lawrence Galleries Announces Rolling Stones/Andy Warhol Weekend

MARTIN LAWRENCE GALLERIES
NEED A BIT MORE SATISFACTION?

MARTIN LAWRENCE GALLERIES IN LAS VEGAS
WELCOMES THE ROLLING STONES TO LAS VEGAS ON MAY 11
WITH MULTI-SENSORY WARHOL WEEKEND EXHIBITION

Gallery to Showcase Mick Jagger/Andy Warhol Suite;
Rolling Stones Music All Weekend and Multiple Showings of
Acclaimed Documentary, Crossfire Hurricane

With one of the only full-suite collections of Andy Warhol’s famed 10-print Jagger Suites in existence, the Martin Lawrence Galleries at The Forum Shops in Las Vegas is set to celebrate the arrival of the Rolling Stones in Las Vegas via a one-of-a-kind, multi-sensory exhibit during the weekend of May 10-12.  The weekend long homage will feature the entire Warhol/Jagger Suite, as well as be accompanied by a soundtrack of the Rolling Stones classics and multiple screenings of their documentary, Crossfire Hurricane.

By the 1970’s Warhol no longer relied on found imagery and had expanded his range of subjects. He began to take his own photographs and the hand-made look became increasingly apparent by additions of collage elements using torn cheap graphic Color Aid papers, which were produced in a collection of colors. The series of ten screen prints of Mick Jagger were characteristic of this change in technique and the artist used an assortment of ten of his own photographs that he had taken of Jagger to create the now iconic collection.  The Martin Lawrence Galleries in Las Vegas is a 26,000 square foot celebration of the arts, both classic and contemporary, and Warhol’s Jagger Suite has become the most visited area of the gallery’s vast collection.

“This gallery was built to showcase the masters from all of the eras, and Andy Warhol is unquestionably one of the most popular and definitive artists of the 20th Century,” explains Staci Goulet, gallery director.  “We have a great collection of Warhol’s, but the Jagger Suite is by far the most popular and we are one of the few places in the world where you can view all 10 screen prints. When we heard the band was making Las Vegas one of the few stops on their tour this year, we decided it was the perfect opportunity to let all of their fans know about this special collection and we wanted to add a bit of rock n’ roll to gallery, so when you visit that weekend you will be surrounded by the Rolling Stones via art, music and film.”

Celebrate Legendary Sculptor, Frederick Hart, at Martin Lawrence Galleries at The Forum Shops

MARTIN LAWRENCE GALLERIES AT THE FORUM SHOPS AT CAESARS
CELEBRATES FREDERICK HART, LEGENDARY AMERICAN SCULPTOR
ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13TH FROM 3PM -5PM

Exhibition to Feature Iconic Works Such as
Three Soldiers and Born of Light
Martin Lawrence Galleries is honored to be bringing a special exhibition from world-renowned American sculptor Frederick Hart to their impressive, 26,000 square foot flagship location inside The Forum Shops at Caesars on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. This collaboration with the estate of Frederick Hart gives visitors the unique opportunity to view the artist’s Washington National Cathedral Collection in bronze, in addition to innovative clear acrylic resin sculptures that were the first of their kind.

“Frederick Hart succeeded in enhancing and adding to the visual splendor and artistic resonance of our nation’s capital, an open air museum for the country and the world,” states Stacie Goulet, Gallery Director of Martin Lawrence. “Few artists can claim such an indelible legacy. We are thrilled to share Hart with visitors to our Las Vegas gallery,” she adds.
Frederick Hart is known for his realistic interpretation of the human body and his uncanny ability to portray raw human emotion in sculpture. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1943, Hart learned the art of sculpture from an apprenticeship under a master stone carver. His unique perspective and intricate designs quickly brought him to the forefront of the American art scene, and several of his works have become some of this nation’s most beloved monuments. Frederick Hart is best known for his bronze sculpture “The Three Soldiers” at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C., and for “The Creation Sculptures”, which decorate the west façade of the Washington National Cathedral. In 2004 he was posthumously awarded a National Medal of Arts, the most prestigious award given to artists by the U.S. Government.
This special exhibition will feature the artist’s most celebrated works.  In addition to Hart’s famous bronze sculptures, Martin Lawrence Galleries will be showing a number of the artist’s clear acrylic resin sculptures. As the first artist to master the acrylic resin medium, Frederick Hart’s sculptures emphasize the relationship between light and form in a revolutionary way. Patrons will have the opportunity to purchase one of the artist’s most famous acrylic resin sculptures, “Born of Light”, at a special price.
Visitors to the gallery will also have the opportunity to view one of the most recognizable sculptures in the world: Auguste Rodin’s “The Thinker”. Commissioned in 1880, the piece was created as part of “The Gates of Hell”, a series of sculptures based on Dante’s “Divine Comedy”. Original casts of “The Thinker” are located in some of the most prestigious museums in the world, including the Musée Rodin in Paris and the California Palace of the Legion of Honor. Using the original lost-wax casting method employed by Rodin, the Sayegh Gallery in Paris has created a limited edition of 25 statues from a plaster cast. Martin Lawrence Galleries is in possession of one of the very few casts and is offering collectors the rare opportunity to acquire the masterpiece.

World-Renowned Masterpieces Revealed at Martin Lawrence Galleries

MARTIN LAWRENCE GALLERIES DELIVERS WORLD-RENOWNED
MASTERPIECES TO THE LAS VEGAS STRIP
Rodin’s “The Thinker” and Calder’s “Spiral, 1966 (‘No! to Frank Lloyd Wright’)”
Take Center Stage at the 26,000 Square Foot Gallery at The Forum Shops at Caesars
When Martin Lawrence Galleries opened their extraordinary 26,000 square foot gallery at The Forum Shops at Caesars one year ago, they made a promise to not only showcase an amazing array of master works and contemporary classics on a daily basis, but to also bring to Las Vegas iconic masterpieces known around the world and familiar to art lovers of every caliber.  This month, Martin Lawrence has more than delivered on their promise with the arrival of two new spectacular works: Rodin’s “The Thinker” and Calder’s steel sculpture, “Spiral, 1966 (‘No! to Frank Lloyd Wright’).”

The iconic sculpture “The Thinker” is one of the most famous sculptures in the world. Created by celebrated French sculptor Auguste Rodin in the early 1880’s, the piece was originally part of “The Gates of Hell,” a series of sculptures based on Dante’s “Divine Comedy”. With the help of sculptor Henri Lebosse, Rodin created a larger version of “The Thinker” in 1902.  Original casts of “The Thinker” are located in some of the most prestigious museums in the world, including the Musée Rodin in Paris and Columbia University. Using the original lost-wax casting method employed by Rodin, a limited number of statues have been made from an approved plaster. Authorized by the Rodin Museum, each statue is numbered, dated, and referenced bringing the total number of authorized casts in the world to 46.

“Spiral, 1966 (‘No! to Frank Lloyd Wright’)” by Alexander Calder was exhibited from the late sixties until the late nineties at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C.  The distinctive motorized, aluminum and steel sculpture with a spiral top that actually rotates when turned on was finished in 1966 and stands an impressive 120 x 172 x 118 ¾ inches – creating a stunning visual masterpiece in the center of the gallery.  The structure was signed with initials and dated on the red element: CA66. Additionally, the sculpture was on exhibition around the world, including at the Guggenheim International Exhibition 1967, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, October 20, 1967 – February 4, 1968 and the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, February – March, 1968. Calder is considered to be the most acclaimed and influential sculptor of the 20th century and he used his innovation and genius to literally change the course of modern art.  With the sculpture now in Las Vegas, locals and tourists alike have the rare opportunity to see this larger-than-life sculpture up close and personal.

As with all of the art at Martin Lawrence Galleries, these two extraordinary works are available for sale; providing art collectors with a very rare opportunity to own a piece of history.

Renowned for offering the finest quality artworks and for maintaining the highest level of integrity and ethical standards in service to their clients, over the last fifteen years, Martin Lawrence Galleries has loaned two hundred fifty artworks to over thirty museums world-wide.

Meet Felix Mas at Martin Lawrence Galleries Inside The Forum Shops at Caesars

MEET SPANISH ARTIST FELIX MAS AT MARTIN LAWRENCE GALLERIES
INSIDE THE FORUM SHOPS AT CAESARS ON
FRIDAY, MAY 11 FROM 7 P.M. – 9 P.M.
Exhibition to Feature New Original Works and Limited Edition Prints

Martin Lawrence Galleries, the 26,000 square-foot gallery featuring more than $50 million of art from the masters to the modern marvels, will host a special artist reception at their new flagship location in The Forum Shops featuring the artist Felix Mason Friday, May 11 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.  This special exhibition will feature the artist in a unique up-close and personal setting where he will speak about his work and describe what inspires his images which celebrate the luminous beauty of the female form. In addition, to meeting the highly-regarded artist, a number of new original works and limited edition prints will be available for acquisition.

“We are excited to welcome Felix Mas and share his new original works including El Canto de Los Mares and El Ultimo Retoque,” said Stacie Goulet, Gallery Director.  “These new pieces are exceptional works that reflect the talent and expressive imagery that Mas is known for.”

Spanish Artist Felix Mas uses his paintbrush to convey emotion. He considers himself a traditionalist, obsessed with form and color, creating images that celebrate femininity and the luminous beauty of the female form. Born in Barcelona, he trained at both the Artes y Oficios and the Escuela Superior de San Jorge, and then furthered his artistic education with extensive travels throughout Europe and the United States, eventually returning to his native Barcelona to work. For Mas, painting implies color, emotion and impression. His works, he says, are “infinite.” His elegantly dressed female figures, whether gazing into the distance or drifting into a daydream, captivate with their graceful radiance and evocatively strong emotions. Mas finds inspiration in women amidst the opulent settings of the Asian world, especially Japan and India with their beautiful costumes and landscape, Egypt, ripe with its enigmatic symbols, and ancient Greece and Rome, saturated with their unique elegance and sensuality.
