MARC JACOBS
Resort 2016 Collection

Hair by Guido, Redken Global Creative Director

Inside his Mercer Street store in SoHo, Marc Jacobs unveiled a bold, bejeweled look – from head to toe – at his Resort 2016 Presentation. Drawing inspiration from the the ‘80s, Redken Global Creative Director Guido created a cool, downtown look inspired by a Martha Grahame off duty dancer. Guido used Redken’s satinwear 02 to achieve a voluminous blow-out before working Redken’s move ability 05 lightweight defining cream-paste into the hair and raking it back into a “punky” chignon. He then finished the look with a black head wrap and a spray of Redken’s forceful 23 super-strength finishing spray before the models hit the runway.

“The look for the Marc Jacobs resort show was inspired by a Martha Grahame off duty dancer with a nod to an eighties downtown girl who would use fabric to wrap and knot her hair. I prepped the hair with Redken satinwear 02, and then blow-dried it back off the face. I then applied Redken move ability 05 cream-paste throughout the hair to give definition and an almost wet look. Next, using just my hands, I pulled the hair into a rough ponytail at the crown and wrapped the head with the fabric. The pony tail was then twisted into a rough, punky knot, leaving the ends sticking out and finished with a mist of Redken forceful 23 super-strength finishing spray.”

Redken’s NYFW Fall/Winter 2015 Marc Jacobs Recap

redkenGuido

MARC JACOBS
Fall/Winter 2015

Hair by Guido, Redken Global Creative Director

Inspired by Ida Sitwell and other grand ladies from the 40’s and 70’s, Redken Global Creative Director Guido achieved a chic and sculptured style for the runway at Marc Jacob’s Fall/Winter 2015 show. To create the defined shape, Guido used Redken’s Guts 10 root targeted volume spray foam to get a clean, sleek blow dry before pulling the hair up into a tight top knot at the front of the head. To modernize the look, Guido left the ends of the top knot sticking out, sculpting them into the perfect shape with Redken’s Control Addict 28 high control hairspray.

“This season, the Marc Jacobs woman is very chic, uptown and pulled together. Marc felt that he wanted to see something that was much more considered – not an easy, breezy look. The hair is slightly 40’s and 70’s, with inspiration from grand ladies and chic women like Lady Ida Sitwell, whose looks were very thought about and pulled together – there’s no accident in their beauty. It’s really a very simple knot at the top of the head, but the key is the sculpture of the head shape, which elongates and accentuates the neck very much like a swan. I used Redken’s Guts 10 as my foundation product, which I applied throughout the hair and then blow dried the opposite direction, from the base of the head up, getting it super clean. The ponytail is right in the front of the head, and I created a simple knot with the ends sticking out, using Redken’s Control Addict 28 to get that piece that sticks which adds the modernity that’s needed to really perfect this look.”

  4. Take a small section of hair from the ponytail and wrap around the elastic band so it doesn’t show

  6. Spray Redken Control Addict 28 high control hairspray all over, focusing on the ends of the chignon that are sticking out to hold the shape

Redken’s NYFW FW 2014 Marc Jacobs Recap

redken

MARC JACOBS
FALL – WINTER 2014

Hair by Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

This season, Redken Creative Consultant Guido created a very modern shaped bob, which seems new in a way for Marc Jacobs. In the past, Guido has done choppy, punk inspired styles for this show. The cut is quite blunt, but the style and finish stems from a high-end conception of hair that requires an immaculate finish. The use of wigs only added another level of perfection to this chic hairstyle.

“The idea of tonality played heavily into the whole design aesthetic for Marc Jacobs. When Marc and I met to discuss the hairstyle, he presented a very clear conception of the color swatches and makeup shades that he had in mind. As a result, the tonality of the haircolor, the makeup and the clothing were all paired together to give a monochromatic hue from head to toe.” -Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

MARC BY MARC JACOBS
FALL – WINTER 2014

Hair by Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

Redken Creative Consultant Guido kept the hair simple and youthful for Marc by Marc Jacobs with two tight clean braids that were slightly disheveled by black headbands. In order to counter the more sophisticated collection this season, Guido opted for a hairstyle reminiscent of grammar school and cartoon characters. Jagged, messy partings and Redken’s new flex texturizers gave the style a rebellious edge, making it clear to the bystander that the Marc girl is not your typical girl next door.

“I incorporated elements of manga, cartoon warriors and Wednesday Addams from the Addams Family into the look I designed for Marc by Marc Jacobs. Ultimately, I created this schoolgirl hairstyle with the Marc girl in mind, in that I wanted the overall style to remain youthful, cool and a bit punk. There is substance and style to the Marc girl, but there is also a rebellious dark side. Quite simply, the two braids are not meant to be that cute or innocent.” -Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

Redken’s New York Fashion Week Spring – Summer 2014 Marc Jacobs Recap

Marc Jacobs

Spring – Summer 2014

guido headshot

Hair by Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

Redken Creative Consultant Guido aligned the hair this season with the youthful, carefree style of Marc’s collection. Once the wigs were lightened, Guido’s team went back and darkened the roots to replicate regrowth. From the color to the choppy, somewhat messy cut, this look screams youthful nonconformity at its best.

“Why wigs? I suppose Marc and I really liked the uniformity that only wigs can create on the runway. This look was designed to encompass the type of free-spirited girl that Marc loves and ultimately designs for. She is somewhat punk and boyish, which is why the wig is bowl-shaped and asymmetrically cut around the face. It is almost as if she took the scissors to her own hair, completely confident and entirely in tune with her own personal style.”-Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

Redken Creative Consultant Guido took the models from day to night, creating an evening look that one might expect to see backstage at a rock concert. While the Redken styling products produced a heavier look and feel, Guido made sure to add some subtle movement back into the look by bending the hair over a curling iron.

“The look encompasses a grungy, cool girl style; however, she has a certain European sensibility to her. I felt the hair needed to be rock-and-roll chic, but in a nighttime way. Working with oil-based products and texturizers really helped to achieve that heavier, night time feel.” –Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

THE ART EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN RAISED IN LAS VEGAS: They say everything is bigger in Las Vegas, and the team from Martin Lawrence Galleries took that statement literally by building and opening what just may be the biggest art gallery in the United States in the heart of The Forum Shops at Caesars. From Rembrant to Picasso to Warhol, Martin Lawrence Galleries brings pop art, modern art and the masters to the Forum Shops at Caesars. With more than 26,000 square feet of gallery, exhibition and event space, the new Martin Lawrence Galleries, located near the Atlantis Fountain Show and Aquarium is a masterpiece unto itself.  It has soaring 80 foot ceilings, a 20-foot tall neon “ART” sign and huge “guillotine” walls that can be raised and lowered to feature special exhibitions. An enormous projection wall and booming sound system enhances the energy of the gallery. Both the physical space and the amazing art will be sure to awe and inspire. In addition to the main gallery area, there will soon be a spectacular exhibition/event space which will become home to Las Vegas’ premiere art events, one-of-a-kind art exhibitions and distinctive pairings of fashion, food and entertainment with the exciting world of art.

For the guys, high-tops never looked so good. Mixing comfort with style, Salvatore Ferragamo puts a colorful twist on an undeniable classic.  Made from luxurious calf leather and easily dressed up or down, you will not want to be without these kicks this fall.
