Power of Love® Gala, March 7, 2020

Las Vegas event shines spotlight on Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health
and raises funds for the fight against brain diseases. Tickets on sale now.

Keep Memory Alive will honor legendary singer-songwriter and musician Neil Diamond at the 24th annual Power of Love® gala on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Tickets are on sale now at keepmemoryalive.org/power-of-love-2020.

Diamond, who announced his retirement from touring in 2018 after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, will appear at the highly anticipated evening benefitting Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. The Power of Love® gala generates the majority of annual funding for the services, care and resources the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health provides to patients and their caregivers in the fight against neurocognitive diseases including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, multiple system atrophy, multiple sclerosis and more.

The celebration of Diamond’s career will include performances from an impressive list of contemporary artists to be announced at a later date. The evening will also feature exquisite cuisine from celebrity chefs, exciting live and silent auctions with one-of-a-kind products and experiences up for bid, and the presentation of the Keep Memory Alive Caregiver Hero Award.

“We’re honored to have the legendary Neil Diamond join us to celebrate his remarkable and wildly successful career and to bring awareness to the devastating diseases the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health researches and treats, including Parkinson’s,” said Keep Memory Alive Vice-Chairwoman and Co-Founder Camille Ruvo. “Nearly one million Americans suffer from Parkinson’s and the funds raised at the Power of Love® gala are critical in allowing us to provide these patients and those living with other neurological disorders with top-level care and their families with valuable caregiving resources.”

Throughout his illustrious and wide-ranging musical career as a singer, songwriter and performer, Diamond has had 38 Top 40 singles and sold over 130 million records worldwide. Perhaps best known for “Sweet Caroline,” his number one singles include: “Cracklin’ Rosie,” “Song Sung Blue,” “Longfellow Serenade,” “I’ve Been This Way Before,” “If You Know What I Mean,” “America,” “Yesterday’s Songs,” and “Heartlight.” Diamond’s extensive list of achievements includes induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and he recently received the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award, the prestigious Kennedy Center Honor and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Furthermore, Twenty One Pilots have shared “Cut My Lip (40.6782°N, 73.9442° W),” the second stripped back performance from the band’s new “Løcatiøn Sessiøns.” Recorded by Tyler Joseph, “Cut My Lip  (40.6782°N, 73.9442° W)” follows the series’ debut session “Chlorine (19.4326° N, 99.1332° W),” and is accompanied by an official visualizer streaming now on the band’s official YouTube channel.

Earlier this year, the Twenty One Pilots shared an official music video for “Chlorine,” which is directed by longtime collaborator Reel Bear Media and streaming now on the band’s YouTube channel. “Chlorine” is featured on Twenty One Pilots’ acclaimed LP TRENCH, which made a stunning global impact upon release this past October. The RIAA gold certified collection earned the GRAMMY® Award winning duo of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun their biggest sales week ever in the U.S., with 175,000 units sold in its first week. An extraordinary achievement for the Columbus, OH band who moved 135,000 copies of TRENCH in pure album sales without the aid of a ticket / album bundle for their worldwide headline “Banditø Tour.”  TRENCH — with over 52 Million on-demand audio streams its first week — also marked the largest streaming week (debut or otherwise) in the U.S. for a rock album. A true global phenomenon amassing 110 Million streams worldwide in its first week, TRENCH earned Twenty One Pilots Top 5 chart debuts around the globe including the U.S., U.K., Belgium, Canada, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Scotland, and Sweden, with #1 debuts in Australia, New Zealand, and The Netherlands. TRENCH is available worldwide at all DSPs and www.twentyonepilots.com.

TRENCH is highlighted by the #1 Alternative smash “Jumpsuit,” which became the decade’s fastest rising song to reach #1 on Billboard’s “Alternative Songs” chart, and also earned the duo their fourth GRAMMY® nomination (Best Rock Song). TRENCH also features album standouts “Nico And The Niners,” “Levitate,” and “My Blood,” which is accompanied by a Tim Mattia directed music videos streaming now on the band’s official YouTube channel and all other providers.

Twenty One Pilots’ TRENCH follows the Twenty One Pilots’ global breakout BLURRYFACE, which made a stunning chart debut upon its initial release, entering the SoundScan/Billboard 200 at #1. The album also achieved a milestone unrivaled in the digital era, becoming the first album in which every individual song on the album certified Gold, Platinum or multi-Platinum by the RIAA.

BLURRYFACE spawned a series of hit singles, beginning with the 2x RIAA platinum certified “Tear In My Heart” and followed by the #1 sensations, “Ride” (5x platinum certified) and the 7x platinum certified, GRAMMY® Award-winning “Stressed Out.” The latter track – which reached #2 on Billboard’s “Hot 100” – spent three months at #1 at Modern Rock while also topping the charts at CHR/Top 40 and Hot AC. “Stressed Out” was a worldwide breakthrough for Twenty One Pilots, earning gold, platinum, and multi-platinum certifications in countries spanning Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. The “Stressed Out” companion video was an equivalent success, now boasting over 1.8 billion views at YouTube alone.

BLURRYFACE was then followed by still another world-conquering hit single, “Heathens,” featured on Atlantic Records’ blockbuster SUICIDE SQUAD: THE ALBUM. The 6x RIAA platinum certified single – which received three GRAMMY® Award nominations including “Best Rock Performance” (Tyler Joseph, songwriter) – spent four consecutive weeks at #2 on the “Hot 100” while also topping Billboard’s “Hot Rock Songs” for a record-shattering 28 consecutive weeks and counting. The unprecedented one-two punch of “Ride” and “Heathens” made Billboard history, establishing Twenty One Pilots as only the third rock act with simultaneous top 5 “Hot 100” singles in the chart’s 58-year history, following only the Beatles and Elvis Presley. In addition, the “Heathens” companion video received the 2016 MTV Video Music Award for “Best Rock Video” and has now earned more than 1.2 billion individual views via YouTube alone.

Phoenix New Times

On Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, Slayer – Tom Araya/bass and vocals, Kerry King/guitars, Gary Holt/guitars, and Paul Bostaph/ drums – will set off on The Final Campaign, the seventh and final leg of its farewell world tour.  This last hurrah will start at the Explore Asheville Arena in Asheville, NC, and see the band taking its goodbye bow at the Los Angeles Forum on Saturday, Nov. 30. Accompanying Slayer for this last ride are Primus, Ministry and Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals performing A Vulgar Display of Pantera, who will support on all dates. The tour will make a Las Vegas stop at MGM Grand Garden Arena Wednesday, Nov. 27. The show is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

Slayer’s Final World Tour began on May 10, 2018 with the band’s intention to play as many places as possible, to make it easy for the fans to see one last Slayer show and say goodbye. By the time the 18-month trek wraps on November 30, the band will have completed seven tour legs plus a series of one-off major summer festivals, performing more than 140 shows in 30 countries and 40 U.S. states.

Slayer’s Final World Tour has been a wild ride. Three bus drivers, four truck drivers, and a crew of 32 have traveled all over the world to set the stage for this farewell. At most shows, Slayer’s pyro expert set off 160 pounds of propane and 10 liters of 99% isopropyl alcohol, prompting the Phoenix New Times reviewer to comment on the “eyebrow-singeing pyrotechnics that could be felt even 10 rows behind the pit.” In Toronto, one diehard fan was ejected from the concert before Slayer took the stage, so jumped into Lake Ontario (that surrounds the Budweiser Arena) and swam back to the venue. The Tampa Bay Times’ Jay Cridlin wrote, “Beginning with the throttling opener ‘Repentless,’ Slayer tore through their set like a flaming cigarette boat across the river Styx, charring up a vicious circle pit by the stage,” and Detroit’s Gary Graff noted in his Oakland Press review the “10,000 headbangers who skipped the ‘Game of Thrones’ finale to pay homage to the pioneering quartet.” “The sheer physicality of their show was something to behold and was yet another indication that while the band may be calling it a career, they are going out on top, playing at their absolute best,” wrote Andy Lindquist for the SF Sonic, and Guy D’Astolfo with the Youngtown Vindicator ended his review with this: “After the final note, Tom Araya stood alone, scanning the crowd…forging a mental imprint of the moment. After a minute or two, he went to the microphone and said, ‘I’m going to miss you guys.’ Then he exited and the lights wentup.”

Kids Go Free at BIG3 Championship Final at MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday, August 26

Kids Go Free at BIG3 Championship Final at
MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday, August 26

Thanks to Former NBA star and current BIG3 3 Headed Monsters Captain Rashard Lewis, kids under the age of 13 will be able to attend this summer’s BIG3 games, including the Championship Final at MGM Grand Garden Arena, for free. Fueled by a desire to provide opportunities for parents, children and families to spend more quality time together, Lewis will buy a ticket for each child accompanied by a guest who has purchased a full-priced ticket.

Guests may take advantage of Lewis’ offer by purchasing tickets at MGM Grand box offices (complimentary tickets for kids are not available online). Tickets start at $27.50 (not including applicable service fees). Guests may receive one complimentary child ticket for every adult ticket purchased. Tickets are subject to availability. Previously purchased tickets will not be discounted.

In purchasing a ticket for every child, Lewis hopes to help parents provide a memorable experience for their families at BIG3 games by offering them something he never had the chance to do as a child – watch a professional basketball game in person.

“I wanted to do something special, not only for kids but for the amazing role models who are guiding them, so for every paying adult who takes a child 13 or younger to a BIG3 game this summer, I’ll buy the child’s ticket,” said Lewis. “A lot of kids don’t grow up with two parents in the home, but they still have amazing role models in their life working hard to steer them in the right direction. I want to help those role models afford to spend more quality time with kids. I hope being able to bring kids to BIG3 games for free this summer will help create positive ripple effects throughout our communities.”

In a moving op-ed published by HuffPost entitled ‘Why I’m Back,’ Lewis recalls the first NBA game he attended was when he was playing in the league – as his family couldn’t afford it. Lewis explains how playing and watching sports with his brothers, grandmother, mother and uncle played a crucial role in developing family bonds and keeping him out of trouble as a kid.

“My biggest role model is my mom. She was the one there at every game, picking me up, dropping me off. She was like my mom and my coach. I’ll never forget the sacrifices she made to provide for us and keep us happy. And I will never forget how my uncle was always there for us, too,” said Lewis. “You need quality time with someone you can look up to – whether it’s the mom, the dad, an uncle or cousin, an older brother. Whoever it is. It’s family time. Quality family time that you can’t replace. That kid whose dad or mom takes him to a game – they’ll always remember that.”

Perelman, chairman and chief executive officer of MacAndrews & Forbes Inc., this year.

Jon Bon Jovi reached international stardom as lead vocalist and guitarist of rock band, Bon Jovi, selling more than 130 million albums worldwide with famous singles including “Livin’ On A Prayer,” “Wanted Dead or Alive” and “It’s My Life.” In addition to a successful music career, he is the founder of the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation, which combats issues that force families and individuals into economic despair.
