Caesars Entertainment Announces Enhancements to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace

Caesars Entertainment Enhances The Colosseum at Caesars Palace with Significant Investments in
Unique Guest Experience and Innovative Technical Elements

Caesars Entertainment Assumes Operational Control of the Award-Winning Venue and Enters Co-Promotion Agreement with Live Nation

Caesars Entertainment announced plans today to renovate The Colosseum at Caesars Palace with significant technical and design updates to its landmark venue recognized as Billboard Magazine’s “Venue of the Decade.” The Colosseum will undergo an exciting evolution to incorporate a new state-of-the-art sound system, new moving light fixtures and high-definition LED video wall into the technical capabilities of the space, while still preserving the celebrated character and prestige of the iconic theater. Also, the world’s top venue of its size will now be able to facilitate multiple seating arrangements, including VIP banquettes with bottle service and a general admission setup on the main floor, to accommodate many genres and entertainment experiences for guests through the city’s only automated lift seating system.

Caesars Entertainment assumes operational control of The Colosseum and begins its partnership with Live Nation, the No. 1 live entertainment promoter in the world. Together, the two industry leaders will elevate the experience for its legendary roster of artists as well as the more than 400,000 guests hosted each year.

“We’re thrilled to make the best entertainment experiences in Las Vegas even better by enhancing The Colosseum at Caesars Palace with its innovative design and unique elements,” said Jason Gastwirth, president of entertainment for Caesars Entertainment. “The timing of these enhancements couldn’t be better as Caesars Entertainment and Live Nation now partner to program The Colosseum with a commitment to bring world-class performers to this refreshed, iconic entertainment venue. The best seat in Las Vegas just got better.”
“Artist residencies have become the dominant form of theater entertainment in Las Vegas. Fans around the world come to Las Vegas to see their favorite stars perform in intimate settings with incredible productions they can find nowhere else,” said Kurt Melien, Live Nation Las Vegas president. “The world’s most legendary artists have graced The Colosseum’s stage since its inception, and we are excited to partner with Caesars Entertainment to further attract the biggest names in music, creating a hub for live entertainment that is unmatched by any other destination in the world.”

Since opening in 2003, The Colosseum changed the live music experience on the Las Vegas Strip by pioneering the modern artist residency model and successfully welcoming entertainment’s biggest superstars to the city.

The Colosseum will begin its refresh in early July and marks the first major update to the space since its revolutionary debut on the Las Vegas Strip when it was built for the opening of Celine Dion’s epic multi-decade long Las Vegas residency. The Colosseum renovation is set to begin after the final dates of Reba, Brooks & Dunn on July 6 and is slated to reopen again in early fall.

Technical Advancements
Capitalization on technical advancements only recently available, the audio and lighting packages will be upgraded with newer, state-of-the-art equipment. Additionally, the massive LED video screen, known by artists and guests as the venue’s awe-inspiring focal point that stretches 110 feet long and 34 feet tall, will be replaced completely, more than doubling its resolution and increasing in size.

In addition to the technical advancements, the award-winning venue will also introduce Las Vegas’ first-of-its-kind modular seating capability via an automated lift system, allowing for immense viewing flexibility, enhanced show offerings, and more immersive fan interactions. These modernizations showcase Caesars Entertainment’s commitment to providing musical acts with a premier performance atmosphere while continuing to elevate the guest experience.

“While we recognize The Colosseum is already top of its class, these changes will allow for more flexibility in our booking process and give us the opportunity to thrill fans with new and diverse offerings,” said Gastwirth. “Our goal is that these modernizations will excite musical acts with an unparalleled stage experience and guests, whether dancing in the now available general admission section, enjoying a show in VIP booths with friends or taking in their favorite singer in a more traditional theater setting, will appreciate the attention to detail we have expanded on for the future of this beautiful venue.”

Design Additions

Scéno Plus, the world-renowned theatre designers out of Montreal, returns as the design lead on the project. The original conceivers of The Colosseum, they have been tasked with the delicate job of making changes to the venue without compromising its essence in the consistently awarded theater space, that has been named Billboard Touring Awards “Top Venue Under 5,000” 13 times (the only winner in the category since its introduction in 2005).

“The Colosseum has proven itself not only as a critical and commercial success, but also as a leader in design, as shown by high-caliber projects around the globe all chasing to achieve its same level of elegance and status,” said Benoit Panaccio, theatre designer. “Scéno Plus is incredibly proud to return to further advance The Colosseum for today’s guests and even prouder to continue our longstanding and successful partnership with Caesars Entertainment.”

Additionally, the seating in the venue will be entirely refurbished, updating the plush red seats, none of which is more than 145 feet from the stage, with new custom fabrics for a luxurious and comfortable viewing experience. Also, The Colosseum will now include a new VIP area, complete with banquettes for groups from two to 10 and bottle/cocktail service. For added convenience, the lobby bar will increase in size, allowing for faster service when ordering specialty cocktails, beverages and snacks, while merchandise areas will also move to better accommodate the flow of guests into the theater.

 Ownership
With more than 10,000 live events hosted each year and 3 million tickets sold annually, Caesars Entertainment adds the flagship venue to its current portfolio of operating more than 50 venues across 13 states and five countries. Caesars Entertainment along with Live Nation looks to utilize this new leadership role within The Colosseum to continue to trailblaze and reimagine the evolution of the resident artist model and include more limited engagements and tour stops.

It was announced today that Caesars Entertainment Corporation has signed on as an official partner of the Forum in Inglewood, Calif., which re-opens on January 15, 2014, following an extensive reinvention of the venue. As part of this partnership, Caesars Entertainment will have a prominent marketing and brand presence in and around the re-imagined Forum and will work to create unparalleled experiences for Forum customers.

“This partnership brings one of the world’s most iconic venues together with the world’s largest gaming entertainment company. We are delighted to welcome Caesars as an official partner of the Forum,” said Sid Greenfeig, senior vice president, west coast business operations, the Forum. “We recently completed a reinvention of the Forum that has created the largest indoor performance venue in the country with a focus on music and entertainment and are proud that the highly regarded brand name, Caesars, can be a part of that. Through this partnership, Caesars will have a powerful platform, as well as a dedicated partner to help them reach new customers and continue as a world-renowned gaming, entertainment and hospitality company.”

As an official partner of the Forum, Caesars Entertainment will have a dedicated 4,000-square-foot hospitality space located on the event level. Named after the entertainment company’s flagship resort in Las Vegas, the “Caesars Palace Club” will create unique interactive experiences for fans at the Forum. Additionally, members of Caesars Entertainment’s loyalty program, Total Rewards, will have the opportunity to receive tickets to select Forum events. Elite Total Rewards members may also have the opportunity to receive behind-the-scenes experiences at select Forum shows. Long considered a leader in live entertainment within the gaming hospitality industry, Caesars Entertainment boasts more than 40 entertainment venues nationwide including a significant footprint in Las Vegas with multiple stages and showrooms spread across the company’s nine Las Vegas resorts. An innovator in the industry, the company originated the concept of the modern Las Vegas headlining residency. Celine Dion helped to usher in this new era of entertainment with her debut at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in 2003. Since that time, The Colosseum has become home to some of the world’s most iconic entertainers and won multiple awards, including being named “Venue of the Decade: 2000-2009” by Billboard Magazine. In late 2013, the company once again ushered in a new era of entertainment in the famed resort city with the launch of Britney Spears’ “Britney: Piece of Me” at the newly renovated The AXIS theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

The Forum underwent a reinvention that has created a thriving venue for both artists and music fans. New amenities include: a completely modernized Arena bowl with superior acoustics; approximately 8,000 square feet of new event level hospitality offerings; lavish new VIP clubs; a 40,000 square foot outdoor terrace; and seven star-caliber dressing rooms as well as a return to the venue’s original exterior color – now officially known as “Forum red.”

The “Fabulous” Forum reopens on January 15 with the first of six historic performances by the legendary Eagles. Additional dates include: January 17, 18, 22, 24 and 25. On January 20, Justin Timberlake’s highly anticipated “20/20 Experience World Tour” will come to the venue followed by Alejandra Guzmán on February 1, who will be the first Latin artist to perform at the newly reinvented venue. Imagine Dragons’ “Into the Night Tour” will come to the Forum on February 14, followed by “Paul Simon & Sting: On Stage Together” on February 15. TobyMac will bring his “Hits Deep Tour” to the venue on March 1 along with some of the biggest names in Christian music and Kings Of Leon will be performing at the Forum on March 21 in support on their 2014 Mechanical Bull Tour. Built in 2003 for the premiere of Celine Dion A New Day…, The Colosseum is a modern replica of Rome’s architectural wonder, complete with world class acoustics and a classic style. After Dion’s legendary five-year run ended in December 2007, The Colosseum underwent an extensive transformation to prepare for the next generation of resident artists – including her record-breaking return in 2011.

Designed to accommodate stage shows of all varieties, The Colosseum seats an impressive 4,298 with no seat farther than 120-feet from the stage and is equipped with state-of-the-art audio and visual elements, including one of the largest indoor high-definition LED screens in North America (120-feet wide by 33-feet tall).

Jeff Dunham Brings “Disorderly Conduct” to the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, 12/13

COMEDIAN JEFF DUNHAM BRINGS “DISORDERLY CONDUCT”
TO THE COLOSSEUM AT CAESARS PALACE
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13

Tickets for Las Vegas show go on sale Friday, September 14 at 10 a.m.

Jeff Dunham, the modern day comedic ringmaster of the world’s most hilarious cast of characters, just announced his newest “Disorderly Conduct” tour will make a stop at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Thursday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. The show is jointly presented by Caesars Palace and AEG Live.

Tickets go on sale Friday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. and may be purchased in person at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace Box Office, by calling 1-888-9-AXS-TIX (1.888.929.7849) or online by visiting www.thecolosseum.com  or www.axs.com, keyword “Jeff Dunham.” Ticket prices are $89.50, $69.50, $59.50 and $49.50 (all prices include 10% Live Entertainment Tax). Showtime is 8 p.m. Orders are subject to additional service charges and fees.

Dunham and his comedic sidekicks recently taped a new Comedy Central one hour special entitled “Minding the Monsters,” scheduled to be broadcast on Oct. 7th with a DVD available on Oct. 9th. The new show is the fifth in a string of record breaking specials. “Minding the Monsters” takes its audience into the ultimate haunted house where you can see Walter transform into something grumpier than he already is, watch Bubba J rise from the dead, meet Peanut’s alter ego, The Purple Avenger of the Night, and his spicy sidekick, and witness Achmed literally dressed to kill in an outfit that would terrify the most terrifying terrorist!

The phenomenal international success of Dunham and his cohorts have been driven by his Comedy Central specials, which set global records for both ratings and sales. Last September, Dunham’s 4th Comedy Central TV special “Controlled Chaos,” premiered to a staggering 8.3 million viewers overall making it the most viewed cable show that night. The global TV event enjoyed a never-before simultaneous same day worldwide debut in a dozen countries. Dunham continued to break ratings records at the end of 2011, when The Bio Channel’s premiere of Jeff Dunham: “Birth of a Dummy” became the network’s top rated telecast ever. No wonder The New York Times Magazine declared Jeff Dunham “the most successful comedian working in America.” Dunham was recently named Pollstar’s #1 Comedy Tour in North America for three years running as well as their Top Worldwide Tour for the third year in a row. In addition, Dunham’s undeniable talent placed him on Forbes magazine’s Celebrity 100 roster of most powerful entertainers for the past four years.

Dunham’s autobiography “All By My Selves: Walter, Peanut, Achmed, And Me” debuted in late 2010 and instantly climbed the New York Times best sellers list and achieved a Five-Star Reader Rating on Amazon. The book candidly recounts Dunham’s amazing rise to international fame beginning with his first public performances for a mere $5 a show as a fourth-grader in his Dallas, Texas hometown, followed by years of intensive touring on the comedy club circuit from his college years into adulthood to becoming an international comedy phenomenon.

The amazing rise of Jeff Dunham continues apace, with 2012 having seen Jeff continue to pack arena-sized venues. He made his fourth trip to Europe this spring, stopping in the U.K., Germany, and Belgium. Dunham also completed his second trip to South Africa, playing to sold out crowds at some of the nation’s biggest venues in Cape Town, Durban, Sun City and Johannesburg, and recently embarked on his second trip to Australia.

Few pop singers can claim a popularity as enduring as Tony Bennett’s. His warm tenor is famous for its simplicity and emotional directness, as evidenced in his renditions of such hits as “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” “Rags to Riches” and “What a Good Life.”  Bennett began his career performing in various New York clubs before being discovered in 1949 by Bob Hope. During the ’50s, he recorded such songs as “Because of You,” “Rags to Riches” and “Cold, Cold Heart.”  In 1962, Bennett recorded his best known song “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” and won the first of 17 Grammys.  Throughout his career, Bennett has reached out to new generations of fans by crossing over into different spheres of pop culture. He appeared on television shows, such as “The Simpsons” and the MTV Music Video Awards (alongside The Red Hot Chili Peppers). His career experienced a resurgence in the ’80s and ’90s thanks to a series of projects with singers including k.d. lang, Stevie Wonder, Natalie Cole and Billy Joel.  Bennett has won 17 Grammy Awards (including a Lifetime Achievement Award, presented in 2001) and two Emmy Awards, and has been named an NEA Jazz Master and a Kennedy Center Honoree. He has sold over 50 million records worldwide.  Now in his 80s, Bennett continues to tour the world for concerts and other engagements.

The Colosseum at Caesars is Named Top Venue at 2011 Billboard Touring Awards

THE COLOSSEUM AT CAESARS PALACE NAMED TOP VENUE
AT 2011 BILLBOARD TOURING AWARDS

Sixth Consecutive Win for World-Class Venue

For the sixth consecutive year (dating back to 2005 when the category was first introduced), The Colosseum at Caesars Palace has been named Top Venue Under 5,000 seats at the recent 2011 Billboard Touring Awards.  The annual award was based on global box office numbers reported to Billboard Boxscore from Oct. 1, 2010, through Sept. 30, 2011.

The ongoing success of the world-class venue can be credited to the stellar entertainers that grace the stage of The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, and the distinctive artist residency model featuring the greatest entertainers in the world, including: Celine Dion, Elton John, Rod Stewart and Shania Twain (who begins her run on Dec. 1, 2012).

In 2011, The Colosseum at Caesars Palace was home to Cher’s sell-out run of the final shows of her three-year residency, (which culminated in February), along with the first year of 54 sold-out performances of Celine Dion’s triumphant return that began in March.  In August, Rod Stewart kicked off the first two runs of sell-out performances of his two-year residency of Rod Stewart: The Hits. and in September Elton John returned for his second residency at The Colosseum with the premiere of his sold-out run of The Million Dollar Piano.

The Colosseum is booked and operated by AEG Live. “The past year has been very strong for The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.  In addition to opening productions with the newest resident performers-Celine Dion, Rod Stewart, Elton John- we also announced the addition of Shania Twain to the lineup which begins in December 2012,” said John Meglen, president and co-CEO of AEG Live/Concerts West. “This rotation along with presenting top-notch touring performers gives us the ability to offer an unforgettable entertainment experience to nearly every visitor to Las Vegas. Our ability to attract the biggest, most diverse group of international superstars is one of the reasons people love to visit The Colosseum.”

“Celine Dion had a triumphant return to The Colosseum, ushering in a whole new era of top-shelf entertainment for the venue and, frankly, the city of Las Vegas, “ added Gary Selesner, president of Caesars Palace. “Opening March 15, 2011, Celine’s first 20 shows grossed more than $14M, and we saw a ripple effect from those ticket sales by way of increased hotel revenue at Caesars Palace.”

Other entertainers who helped make The Colosseum at Caesars Palace a number-one venue in 2011 include Jerry Seinfeld, Luis Miguel, Jeff Dunham, Diana Ross, Leonard Cohen, Stevie Nicks, and Janet Jackson.

Tickets are available for upcoming performances at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace including;

  •        Sting – Nov. 25
  •        Janet Jackson – Nov. 26
  •        Jeff Dunham – Dec. 2 – 3
  •        Jerry Seinfeld – Dec. 26-27
  •        Celine Dion – Dec. 28 – Jan. 22 and Feb. 22 – Mar. 18
  •        Elton John – Feb. 9 – Feb 18
  •        Rod Stewart – Mar. 24 – Apr. 7
Tickets may be purchased by calling 1-800-745-3000 or by visiting www.thecolosseum.com.

Martin Lawrence Galleries Brings Modern Art and the Masters to The Forum Shops

THE ART EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN RAISED IN LAS VEGAS

FROM REMBRANT TO PICASSO TO WARHOL,
MARTIN LAWRENCE GALLERIES BRINGS POP ART,
MODERN ART AND THE MASTERS TO
THE FORUM SHOPS AT CAESARS

New 26,000 Square-Foot Gallery Features Multi-Million Dollar Warhol’s to
Bertho Hand-Signed Serigraphs to Erte Sculptures

They say everything is bigger in Las Vegas, and the team from Martin Lawrence Galleries took that statement literally by building and opening what just may be the  biggest art gallery in the United States in the heart of The Forum Shops at Caesars.  With more than 26,000 square feet of gallery, exhibition and event space, the new Martin Lawrence Galleries is a masterpiece unto itself.  It has soaring 80 foot ceilings to a 20-foot tall neon “ART” sign to huge “guillotine” walls that can be raised and lowered to feature special exhibitions to an enormous projection wall and booming sound system. Both the physical space and the amazing art will be sure to awe and inspire.

In addition to the main gallery area, there will soon be a spectacular exhibition/event space which will become home to Las Vegas’ premiere art events, one-of-a-kind art exhibitions and distinctive pairings of fashion, food and entertainment with the exciting world of art.  “We couldn’t be more excited about bringing our collections, our artists and our international expertise to Las Vegas,” explains Gallery Director, Stacie Goulet.  “We have been looking for the right space for many years, and when we saw this amazing location within The Forum Shops, we knew we had to create a very special gallery space.  We didn’t build it big just for the sake of being big.  We wanted to showcase a range of art and artists that would appeal to the novice as well as to the collector – that is what Martin Lawrence Galleries is all about.  Whether you are looking for a unique Warhol or Chagall or  signed limited edition prints by one of our exclusive artists such as Philippe Bertho, Robert Deyber, Felix Mas or Erté, you can find it in our gallery.”

Accessible and inviting, The Martin Lawrence Galleries in The Forum Shops was created to enable the guest to discover and enjoy art around every turn.  With its soaring ceilings, bright lights, incredible music soundscape and visual arts projected on the main back wall, walking through the gallery is an escape from the sights and sounds of the Strip just beyond, but at the same time, just as exciting to experience.  With a range of art that spans the spectrum from the hundreds of dollars to the millions of dollars, and features everything from original works by Picasso and Warhol to hand-signed serigraphs  by Erté and Robert Deyber,  the Martin Lawrence Galleries brings art to a new level for both Las Vegas residents and tourists alike.

“While the gallery space has already exceeded our expectations, we cannot wait to open the next phase of the gallery,” adds Ms. Goulet.  “There is truly nothing like it in Las Vegas or maybe anywhere.  We are creating a place where art will take center-stage as only it can in Las Vegas.  With over 13,500 square-feet of additional space, its size  and scope will allow us to bring events and exhibitions which will not be seen elsewhere, as well as allow us to showcase work of brilliant magnitude.  We want to get extremely creative and work with our neighbors here in The Forum Shops, Caesars Palace, The Colosseum and the community to create amazing evenings where art will wrap itself within the worlds of fashion, food and entertainment.”

Martin Lawrence Galleries is located near the Atlantis Fountain Show and Aquarium. Hours are 10 a.m.  – 11 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. – midnight on weekends. For more information, contact 702-991-5990.
