American Idol: Live! 2018 Tour, Featuring Performances by This Season’s Winner Maddie Poppe, Comes to Orleans Arena July 29

One of the nation’s best-loved television shows “American Idol” will bring the American Idol: Live! 2018 tour to the Orleans Arena on Sunday, July 29.

The American Idol: Live! 2018 tour will feature performances from this season’s winner Maddie Poppe as well as this season’s top finalists, including Cade Foehner, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Catie Turner, Gabby Barrett, Jurnee and Michael J. Woodard. Kris Allen, Season 8 winner of “American Idol” will also be a special guest on tour.

The 2018 tour follows the hit show’s monumental return to television in 2018 and will span three months this summer. The tour will cover over 40 cities kicking off on Wednesday, July 11 in Redding, Calif. and wrap on Sunday, September 16 in Washington, D.C.

Dribble down to Fremont Street Experience for the 8th Annual Downtown Hoopstown taking place March 9 through April 3, where Fremont Street Experience transforms into the ultimate college basketball destination. The four blocks underneath the Viva Vision canopy will be lined with college banners and flags, while the downtown destination offers special activities and nightly performances including the stage production show Hardwood Hotties featuring American Idol Season 6 Finalist Haley Scarnato (dark on Thursdays), the world’s largest NCAA bracket and a special basketball-themed show displayed on the 1,500 ft. Viva Vision canopy. Guests will also be able to test their shooting skills at the interactive High Hoops Zone.
8th Annual Downtown Hoopstown Events/Attractions:
  • Hardwood Hotties – The sexy, crowd pleasing, Hardwood Hotties are back, featuring American Idol Season 6 Finalist Haley Scarnato. The Hardwood Hotties will get the crowd moving with an array of energetic and upbeat songs. Hardwood Hotties is a custom stage production show created exclusively for Fremont Street Experience by Face Productions. Hardwood Hotties will perform nightly on the 3rd Street Stage March 3-April 3 from 7-10 p.m. The show will be dark on Thursdays: March 9, 16, 23 and 30 and they will not perform on March 10 or March 11. They will perform at special times for St. Patrick’s Day weekend: March 17 from 5-8 p.m. and March 18 from 4-7 p.m.
  • High Hoops Zone – The High Hoops Zone returns, giving fans a chance to test their skills and challenge their friends to basketball shoot-outs featuring 20-, 25-, and 30-foot basketball hoops for only $1 dollar per shot.
  • Worlds Largest NCAA Bracket – Bracketology soars to new heights with the world’s largest NCAA bracket displayed on the 1,500-foot long Viva Vision canopy, which will be updated daily beginning with the start of the NCAA Tournament on March 14 through the NCAA championship game on April 3.
  • American Idol – Each night beginning at dusk the Viva Vision canopy will feature a special basketball-themed Viva Vision show custom synced with bouncing basketballs, slam dunks and more.

World-renowned choreographer, performer, singer and songwriter Paula Abdul and singer/songwriter/dancer Jason Derulo will join Nigel Lythgoe at the judges’ table, alongside returning host Cat Deeley, for the 12th season of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. The upcoming season will feature a new twist in the competition: stage dancers vs. street dancers.

“With the new and exciting format comes a new and exciting panel of judges,” said executive producer and judge Lythgoe. “I’m delighted that Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo will be joining me at the judges’ table this season on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. Paula is an incredible artist and she brings the perfect combination of expertise and heart to the panel. Jason’s insight, humor and creativity will add a new perspective to the panel that we haven’t had before.”

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE returns this summer on FOX. Auditions for the new season start in New York, NY (Saturday, Jan. 24); Dallas, TX (Saturday, Feb. 14); Detroit, MI; (Sunday, Feb. 22); Memphis, TN (Sunday, March 8); and Los Angeles, CA (Sunday, March 15).

Auditioners traveling to cities for the open calls should make arrangements to stay for at least two days following their initial audition (three days for Memphis) in the event of a callback.

Dancers either must be U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents of the U.S. or possess current legal Employment Authorization Cards enabling them to seek employment freely in the U.S. (i.e., without restrictions as to employer) by the date specified in the eligibility rules. Dancers must be no younger than 18 or older than 30 years of age on the first day they register for auditions. Any dancer who is a minor in his/her state of residence must also have a parent or legal guardian sign all required documents. Throughout the auditions, the dancers who advance will be placed into two teams – the STAGE dancers, featuring those trained in styles such as contemporary, ballet, jazz or tap; and the

STREET dancers, hopefuls skilled in hip-hop, animation or breaking.  As the auditions continue, the judges, along with each team’s All-Star Mentor, will eliminate dancers until only the Top 20 – 10 Street Dancers and 10 Stage Dancers – remain. When the competition goes “live,” the Top

20 will be challenged weekly to perform a variety of styles, working with world-renowned choreographers. One dancer from each genre will be eliminated each week leading up to the Season Finale. Paula Abdul is a groundbreaking choreographer, dancer, songwriter, performer, designer, actor and businesswoman. She is a two-time Emmy Award winner, Grammy Award winner, three-time American Music Award winner, a seven-time MTV Video Award winner and multi-Platinum recording artist who has been entertaining her fans for over 25 years. Hyde Bellagio introduces a jamming new “Live Music Thursdays” lineup for the month of November. Every Thursday from 10 p.m. – 1 a.m., the chic nightspot becomes Vegas’ hottest lounge while the sizzling sounds of local favorites fill the fountain-side venue.

 

Guests are invited to sip signature cocktails like the American Idol, a fall favorite, and enjoy the melodic sounds of musicians’ original compositions and covers as the famed Fountains of Bellagio dance in the background.

  • Mahi Crabbe – A local favorite, Crabbe first gained national attention in 2011 when he was among the Top 100 on American Idol. Crabbe, the Hawaiian crooner, has since conquered the local music scene.

 

  • JR Aquino – Hailing from Anchorage, Alaska, Aquino broke into the music industry as one of American Idol’s Top 50 finalists during season four. Fremont Street Experience will once again transform itself for the Sixth Annual OktoberFrightFest, combining Oktoberfest and Halloween for the ultimate street party, taking place October 5 – November 1. The spooktacular festivities will include free performances from the popular stage production show “Frank & The Steins,” “Vampire Rising” and “Halloween Hotties.” Viva Vision light and sound shows will also be themed to “Time Warp” and “Monster Mash.”

Frank & The Steins:
“Frank & The Steins” is a live musical revue of classic Halloween songs.  The cast is comprised of hot ghouls and guys; singers, dancers and live musicians performing songs including “Psycho Killers,” “Spooky,” “Time Warp,” and “Ghostbusters” that will make audiences dance, laugh, sing and scream.  “Frank & The Steins” is produced by Face Productions and choreographed by Melden Steele.  Frank & The Steins will perform on the 1st Street Stage Oct. 5 – Nov. 1 from 8 p.m. – 11 p.m. (dark on Oct. 9, 16 and 23).


Vampire Rising:
“Vampire Rising” will perform three themed sets that highlight a vast repertoire.  The Gothic Set includes a set list on the heavy side of rock and will include songs from Rob Zombie’s “Dragula,” Alice in Chains’ “Man in the Box,” and Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid.”  The Pop Horror set is hosted by the “Addams Family” and will feature some of the lighter side of the macabre with hits like Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” and Oingo Boingo’s “Dead Man’s Party.” The third set, titled Rock From the Dead, will have the band costumed like some of our dearly departed rock stars and will regale the crowd with renditions that include Warren Zevon’s “Werewolves of London,” Guns & Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle” and Blue Oyster Cult’s “Don’t Fear the Reaper.” Vampire Rising will perform on the 3rd Street Stage Oct. 7 – Oct. 30 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 p.m. – Midnight and Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. (dark on Oct. 18)


Halloween Hotties
The sexy, crowd pleasing, “Halloween Hotties” are back, this time featuring American Idol Season 6 Finalist Haley Scarnato. “Halloween Hotties” is a custom stage production show created exclusively for Fremont Street Experience by Face Productions. Halloween Hotties will perform on the Main Street Stage Oct. 6 – Oct. 31 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8 p.m. – 11 p.m. and Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Fifth Annual Fall Beer Festival (Golden Nugget):
Fremont Street Experience member property Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino will host its Fifth Annual Fall Beer Festival during a two-day event on Oct. 10 & 11. This two-day festival brings together consumers, craft beer vendors, live music, great food and hundreds of beers in two very different events.  The first event kicks off Friday, Oct. 10 from 7-10 p.m. in The Grand Events Center.  Guests will sample over 125 craft beer selections from award-winning breweries and enjoy chef-inspired appetizers, live entertainment and mingle with award-winning brew masters. Tickets to this event can be purchased individually for $50 plus taxes at the Golden Nugget Box Office. Internationally acclaimed singer, songwriter Josh Groban will host, and country music superstar Brad Paisley, music sensation Kesha and hip hop artist and actor Ludacris comprise the expert panel on ABC’s “Rising Star,” the next evolution of live television.  “Rising Star” completely reinvents the traditional singing competition as–for the first time ever–the audience has the final say in real time.  The show follows a group of aspiring singers as they perform live.  During the performances, viewers vote in real time via an App to determine if the singer will advance in the competition.   If the voting reaches a certain threshold, the performer moves on.  In addition, the performer can see how the voting is going throughout the performance, so the feedback is immediate and dramatic.

“Rising Star” opened the gate to a new era in reality competition, when the executive producers, Ken Warwick (“American Idol”) and Nicolle Yaron (“The Voice”) kicked off a nationwide search for talent earlier this year. The show accepted submissions online, via Instagram and production members traveled to Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago, Nashville, Los Angeles, New York and Boston for in person auditions. Beginning June 22, the contestants winnowed down by that search will have their moment onstage in “Rising Star” with viewers deciding who wins.

The series airs over 10 weeks. The first 3 weeks—“Qualifiers”– showcase approximately 30 acts, and these episodes will be 2 hours each. Beginning July 13, the series is one hour weekly. The next phases of competition are the duels—where acts compete one-on-one. Those who survive return for the Quarterfinal and perhaps Semifinal rounds, as the field continues to narrow until the night of the Finals, when just 1 of the remaining acts will be named the “Rising Star” winner.

Country music’s rising stars and reality competition winners Scotty McCreery and Danielle Bradbery will perform at the 8th Annual Country in the Park outdoor music festival. The free outdoor event is Saturday, May 10 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Exploration Park, located at 9275 So. Buffalo Drive in Mountain’s Edge. Country in the Park is presented by the best-selling Mountain’s Edge Master Planned Community and New Country 95.5 The Bull.

 

In addition to the concert, Country in the Park will feature a beer garden, food vendors, booths, exhibits and more. Guests are welcome to bring blankets, picnic baskets, chairs and well-behaved, leashed pets, and enjoy festivities in Exploration Park’s amphitheater with its scenic mountain backdrop.  The 80-acre park also has an Old Western village, Native American play structures, archeological dig area, splash pad, picnic areas, and the 2,846-foot-tall Exploration Peak with hiking and cycling trails and panoramic views of the Las Vegas Valley.

 

McCreery won the 10th season of American Idol in May 2011 and has continued to soar with the help of enthusiastic fans and Billboard Top 20 songs, including “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble with Girls.” In just a few years, he’s became one of country’s hottest new stars, with album sales topping 1.6 million, including a platinum-selling debut album, Clear As Day, that made Billboard history and helped him win several new artist awards. It was followed with highly regarded albums, See You Tonight and Christmas with Scotty McCreery, which yielded more hit songs and accolades.

 

Bradbery, the 17-year-old singing sensation and recent winner of Season 4 of NBC’s The Voice, opens for McCreery.  She was the youngest contestant to come in first place on the hit television show. With her self-titled debut album, Danielle Bradbery, she is currently on tour with country heartthrob Hunter Hayes and Dan + Shay on the We’re Not Invisible Tour.

 

Rounding out Country in the Park line-up is local favorite The Tony Marques Band. Tony Marques and his band have been mainstays at Country in the Park and are known for their high energy and crowd-pleasing personalities as they perform legendary cover songs and some emerging original music. The Tony Marques Band appears regularly at Toby Keith’s “I Love This Bar and Grill” at Harrah’s Hotel and Casino and Margaritaville Restaurant and Bar at the Flamingo Hotel.

Singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson will release her fifth studio album, Lights Out, on April 15th via Cabin 24/Mom+Pop. The first single, “Girls Chase Boys,” is now available at all digital retailers and the music video is going viral, with incredible media attention and over 1.5 million views so far. To celebrate the release Michaelson will embark on a 31-date tour which kicks off April 21st at Le National in Montreal, Quebec and will run through June 3rd at the House of Blues in Boston. “’Girls Chase Boys’ started out as a break up song but took on a deeper meaning as I continued writing,” said Michaelson of the single. “More than just being about my experience, its focus shifted to include the idea that, no matter who or how we love, we are all the same. The video takes that idea one step further and attempts to turn stereotypical gender roles on their head. Girls don’t exclusively chase boys, we all know this. We all chase each other and in the end we are all chasing after the same thing: love.”

Beyond the sweetly buoyant “Girls Chase Boys,” presented visually in a cheeky music video that’s a stylistic homage to Robert Palmer’s “Simply Irresistible,” the new album finds Michaelson exploring some thoughtful, sometimes darker themes based on personal challenges she’s experienced over the last year. She also pushed her boundaries with the production of Lights Out, choosing a more inclusive creative process. Recorded in New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville, she worked with six producers and ten co-writers, including singer-songwriters Katie Herzig, Trent Dabbs and Busbee (Pink, Katy Perry, Lady Antebellum) as well as A Great Big World and Mat Kearney, with whom she also shares duets.

“The last year has been one of the most challenging of my life,” said Michaelson. “This album is a reflection of all of that. It’s about being pushed to your limits and looking for help from something other than yourself. It’s about letting go and being alright with that, accepting that. I collaborated with many different writers and producers but, ironically, I believe this is the most personal record I’ve made. I feel like I needed others to save me, in a way – to get the darkness out and help turn it to light. I’m so proud of the record and of the many friends who helped me make it. And I cannot wait to perform these songs live!”

This January Ingrid partnered with Rainn Wilson and his popular video production company SoulPancake to host a series of comedic shorts entitled, “Little Kids. Big Questions.” The series pays homage to Art Linkletter and Bill Cosby and makes use of Michaelson’s earnest approach and comedic timing to draw unique and often hilarious answers out of adorable kids. Last fall, Michaelson’s popular side project ARMY OF 3 released their debut EP. ABC’s innovative new series “Rising Star,” which opens the gate to a new era in reality competition, kicks off its nationwide search for talent on Saturday, March 29th. The U.S. series is helmed by executive producers Ken Warwick (“American Idol”) and Nicolle Yaron (“The Voice”). Aspiring singers are encouraged to visit www.abc.com/risingstar  for more information on the audition process. Solo vocalists, duos and vocal groups (up to five members) can register to audition in person, online or nominate a friend/family member.

“Rising Star” completely reinvents the traditional singing competition as–for the first time ever–the audience has the final say in real time. The show follows a group of aspiring singers as they perform live. During the performances, viewers vote in real time via an App to determine if the singer will advance in the competition. If the voting reaches a certain threshold, the performer moves on. In addition, the performer can see how the voting is going throughout the performance, so the feedback is immediate and dramatic.

Queen + Adam Lambert will reign over a highly anticipated North American summer tour starting in Chicago in June. Brian May, Roger Taylor + Adam Lambert will come together for the first time in Las Vegas at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Saturday, July 5 and Sunday, July 6. Queen + Adam Lambert received glowing reviews for their performance together at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas last September, triggering a conversation between Adam, Roger and  Brian to take the show on the road.  Rolling Stone said, “Lambert astounded the audience on songs like ‘We Will Rock You’ and the closing ‘We Are The Champions’ and ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’.  It was the most anticipated act of the night.” Billboard claimed, “…Queen effectively stole the show, with timeless songs that music fans of all genres can sing along to” and the Hollywood Reporter exclaimed, “Adam Lambert, Queen bring down the iHeart house.  With the perfect mix of rock attitude mixed with style, theatricality, sex appeal and impressive vocal gymnastics, [Lambert] took the band’s music to new heights.”

 

The threesome first shared the stage during American Idol in May 2009 for a performance of “We Are The Champions”. They teamed up again in 2011 at the MTV European Music Awards in Belfast, Ireland for an electrifying eight-minute finale of “The Show Must Go On”, “We Will Rock You” and “We Are The Champions” and in the summer of 2012, Lambert performed a series of shows with Queen across Europe as well as dates in Russia, Ukraine and Poland.  They also performed three sold-out gigs at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.

Last night (Sept. 25, 2013) “American Idol” winner and Paris Las Vegas headliner Taylor Hicks joined the cast of MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET at Harrah’s Las Vegas for an on-stage jam session, performing the Buddy Holly classic “Not Fade Away.”

Immediately following the final number of MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, Taylor was welcomed to the stage by Marc D. Donovan (Sam Phillips) to an enthusiastic response from the packed Showroom. Jamming on stage with the talented performers of MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, the performance brought together two of the most talented musical acts on The Strip in a rocking one-night-only performance.

Taylor is the second guest performer to join the Las Vegas company on stage at Harrah’s. In August, Bally’s Las Vegas headliner Véronic joined the cast to perform a phenomenal rendition of the Johnny Cash and June Carter duet “Jackson.”

WHAT: ABOVE THE BELT is a singing competition that invites high school students to showcase their vocal talents for the chance to be awarded a $2,500 cash prize. The competition offers students the unique opportunity to be adjudicated by professional vocal artists, teachers and directors.

Students will enter a round-robin event and sing before a panel of judges à la American Idol, who will select a group to advance to round two. In round two, students will perform two songs in front of another professional panel, which will advance a Top 10 to the ABOVE THE BELT Championship Showcase.

WHO:
ABOVE THE BELT is open to incoming high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors for the 2013-2014 school year.

ABOVE THE BELT Championship Showcase is open to the public. Admission is $10 at the door.
