California Pizza Kitchen Turns 30!

California Pizza Kitchen

CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN TURNS 30!

CPK marks three decades of imaginative, California-inspired cuisine

with restaurant transformations nationwide

“Taste of The Seasons” cookbook celebrates milestone California Pizza Kitchen (CPK), the pioneer of creative dining with a California vibe, will celebrate its 30th anniversary Friday, March 27. Since its inception in 1985, CPK fundamentally changed the way people think about pizza and California cuisine.

CPK’s leading edge continues as it transforms restaurants nationwide to create a brand new experience in culinary offerings, hospitality and design. To date, more than 20 pilot restaurants have been transformed including the restaurant’s first ever location on Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills, CA. The total conversion will be completed by the end of 2016.

To mark the milestone, CPK will also debut “Taste of the Seasons’’ cookbook, a collection of restaurant-style recipes featuring imaginative ideas from each season’s harvest, that you can make at home. Fans of CPK’s fresh and distinctive cuisine will be able to purchase the book at CPK restaurants.

“CPK is resetting the stage for the next 30 years and we are calling this plan our ‘Next Chapter’,” California Pizza Kitchen Executive Chairman and CEO G.J. Hart. “We have over 280 restaurants in 208 cities and 15 countries around the world, and this plan takes the best of our heritage, history and soul and infuses it with a new look, a new menu and a new experience.”

The transformation creates a more relaxed, fresh and inviting atmosphere that allows guests to unwind and feel at home. The new décor spurns the traditional “chain” look with surroundings crafted from sustainable materials. Walls, tables and doors have been made from reclaimed wood, counter tops of natural stone and living herb gardens contribute to a warm, rustic and natural feel. Additionally, vibrant artwork features local landmarks to give each respective restaurant its own unique personality.

With CPK’s expanded open kitchen concept, guests are now even closer to the action. Chefs prepare food from scratch every day using flavors from over 175 fresh ingredients. Pizzas are created from dough that is proofed, then hand-tossed three feet into the air and finished with freshly sliced, diced and torn toppings before they are baked in the open hearth oven.

“We bring California creativity to every meal we serve. Our culinary inspiration comes from inspiration from around the world,” said Brian Sullivan, CPK’s head chef and SVP of Culinary Development. “From our innovative pizzas to our one-of-a-kind pastas, entrees, salads and desserts, we strive to be remarkably original in everything we do.”

The reimagined menu features unique flavor combinations and fresh seasonal ingredients like the Harvest Kale Salad and the Sunnyside Up Bacon + Potato Pizza. The main plates add distinctly upscale options like Fire Grilled Ribeye, fresh cut in Merced, CA and Hearth Roasted Halibut, caught sustainably from the Aleutian Islands. New Lunch Duos offer more than 80 fresh, made-to-order pairing combinations of 7” pizzas, sandwiches, soups and salads for a quick and affordable weekday meal. For those with specific dietary needs and a flair for flavor, CPK also has options that are under 650 calories, vegetarian/vegan or gluten free. To view or download the complete menu, visit www.cpk.com/reimagined.

Proper rest is essential to overall well-being and guests can guarantee a good night’s sleep in a Stay Well RoomS at MGM Grand which features 17 health and wellness elements throughout each room. Blissful slumber is promised through EMF protection that shields guests from sleep-disruptive electromagnetic fields and black-out shades that block outdoor lighting. The LED dawn simulator alarm clock awakens the body gradually to eliminate grogginess on race day and the air purification system will keep racer’s lungs ready by reducing allergens, toxins and pathogens. When it’s time to clean up post-race, the Vitamin C infused shower promotes healthy hair and skin, leaving guests feeling rejuvenated.

Yoga can be a great addition to any athlete’s training regimen and thanks to Vdara Hotel & Spa in partnership with Lululemon, runners can strike a pose with The Official Rock ‘n’ Roll Pre-Race Yoga Session, an outdoor event that will leave participants feeling relaxed, flexible and mentally ready for Sunday’s arduous trek. Beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov.16, anyone interested is invited to Vdara’s pool deck for a one-hour Vinyasa Flow yoga class tailored for runners but open to all fitness levels. Healthy snacks and refreshments will be available along with live music. Interested participants are encouraged to RSVP at  http://twtvite.com/yogarunvegas – reservations are not mandatory. California Pizza Kitchen, Carnegie Deli and BLT Burger will feature runner’s menus or participants can enjoy 50 percent off Cravings Buffet November 16 – 18 with their marathon credentials.

The Official Rock ‘n’ Roll Pasta Party at The Mirage will allow racers to “carb up” the evening prior to the marathon, ensuring they have the energy to get them through the race. On Saturday, Nov. 16, the feast will feature eight double-sided buffets of runner-friendly food such as salad, whole grain rolls and pasta, including gluten-free options, that can be topped with a choice of meat and/or vegan sauces. Rounding out the dinner with live music, The Mirage hopes to provide an evening that will satisfy the body, mind and soul. The event will be hosted in The Mirage Event Center and tickets can be purchased for $30 by visiting the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon website.

The Pre-Race Brunch, also in The Mirage Event Center, is a competitor-approved gourmet meal that ensures the body is properly nourished all the way to the finish line. Starting at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, runners can enjoy entertainment with friends and family before taking on the Las Vegas Strip that night. Tickets must be picked up at the Pasta Party/Brunch booth at the Health & Fitness Expo on Friday or Saturday of race weekend.

Where to Revitalize
After a rewarding, albeit exhausting journey through Las Vegas, there is no better way to decompress and begin healing than with a relaxing spa experience.

Spa Bellagio will stay open until midnight so competitors can head straight to the massage room or wet areas to begin the recovery. Racers can benefit from a 50-minute Marathon Custom Massage ($160), a personalized session that combines pressure and technique, or a 20-minute Mini-Marathon Refresher Massage ($85) which focuses only on the areas that need rejuvenation. The 80-minute Athlete Revival ($250) is a custom sports treatment that combines stretching and massage to all major muscle groups followed by a Cryoderm gel application that soothes and calms tissue. Spa Bellagio also will offer race day spa passes for $50 or a three-day pass for $70.

The Mirage Spa will feature special treatments for marathon participants November 16 -18. The Runner’s Relief Pedicure ($80) soothes tired soles with a ginger salt soak while the Glute Fatigue Massage ($80 for 25 minutes or $130 for 50 minutes) stretches and targets exhausted extremities. Runners also can opt for the Muscle Marathon Meltdown ($260) – a 110-minute treatment available for those requiring a little extra TLC.

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Town Square Diners Can Support Cure 4 The Kids Foundation In Many Ways

September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and Town Square Las Vegas is stepping up once again to help ensure no child goes without the medical treatment that can save their life.

Several Town Square restaurants are partnering with Cure 4 The Kids Foundation and will donate proceeds from specific menu items, or a percentage of the total bill, during the month of September, 2013, to Cure 4 The Kids Foundation’s Charity Care Plan.

As a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, Cure 4 The Kids Foundation provides funding to the Children’s Specialty Center of Nevada, the state’s only nonprofit pediatric cancer outpatient treatment center.  The nonprofit mission ensures that no child is ever turned away from treatment due to a lack of medical insurance or the family’s ability to pay for treatment.

The following restaurants will be serving up their famous dishes and drinks with special donation plans in September.  In addition, donations can be made directly to Cure 4 The Kids at www.cure4thekids.org.

BRIO Tuscan Grille – Donating all proceeds from sales of its Wild Berry Lemonade throughout September to Cure 4 The Kids Foundation.

i ♥ burgers– Donating 50% of the sales from those customers who produce this printed flyer with their order: http://cl.ly/0m2n1c2S0w34 on Tuesday, September 17, 2013.

“Town Square Las Vegas has been such a huge supporter of our Foundation in the past and we can’t thank them enough for their continued support this year,” said Annette Logan, President and Executive Director of Cure 4 The Kids Foundation.  “We need help from the community to continue our mission of providing access to quality medical care for families without insurance that need to care for their children with complex medical issues.”

Cure 4 The Kids Foundation is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization that was founded by Dr. Jonathan Bernstein, M.D., to help provide access to medical treatment for life threatening childhood diseases through its two agencies: The Children’s Specialty Center of Nevada and the Hemophilia Treatment Center of Nevada.

With Cure 4 The Kids Foundation’s Charity Care Plan, no child affected by cancer and other life threatening diseases is ever turned away due to a lack of medical insurance or lack of financial resources. To date, Cure 4 The Kids Foundation has provided about 7 million dollars in unreimbursed medical care for those who could not afford it.

The Children’s Specialty Center of Nevada has treated almost 9,000 patients since 2007.

Studies show people with Hemophilia who are treated at federally recognized HTCs have lower overall healthcare costs, lower hospitalization rates and lower mortality rates than non-HTC users. The Cure 4 The Kids Foundation’s Charity Care plan ensures patients at The Children’s Specialty Center and the Hemophilia Treatment center receive medical treatment regardless of family income or presence of medical insurance. www.cure4thekids.org
