First Responders: #JambaLove Day – Monday, Oct. 23

During our city’s tragedy on Oct. 1 and country’s recent natural disasters, Jamba’s thoughts are with our first responders, who have been on the front lines, answering calls for help and saving lives. As a small token of our appreciation, on Monday, October 23, Jamba Juice locations in Las Vegas will recognize and thank our selfless first responders by offering a free small smoothie to those in uniform or with valid ID.

Get ready to “Make Your Mark” at the 26th Annual AIDS Walk Las Vegas on Sunday, April 17 at Town Square starting at 8:30 a.m. with some of The Strip’s top performers showing support.

AFAN’s largest fundraiser of the year, AIDS Walk Las Vegas saw 6,000 walkers in 2015 raising more than $400,000 to directly benefit supportive services to stabilize and empower the 3,000 clients living with or affected by HIV.

Penn & Teller will serve as grand marshals for the 15th consecutive year and leaders of the Penn & Teller Challenge, offering five tiers of fundraising incentives including complimentary show tickets to Frank Marino’s Divas and Rock Of Ages, plus tickets and VIP backstage passes to Blue Man Group. The top challenger will be awarded with complimentary show tickets, a photo opp and exclusive meet & greet with Britney Spears. For every $250 raised by a challenger, Penn & Teller will match the donation dollar for dollar. Mercedes and JC from Mercedes in the Morning on Mix 94.1 will host the opening ceremony, kicking off with Rachel Tyler of Steve Wynn’s ShowStoppers singing the National Anthem. Las Vegas entertainers will show their support with performances from Absinthe’s “Green Fairy” Melody Sweets, VEGAS! The Show, Twisted Vegas, Venetian headliners Human Nature and Steve Wynn’s ShowStoppers.

Several politicians will address the crowd, including Councilman Stavros Anthony, Mayor Pro Tem Steven Ross, Senator Kelvin Atkinson and Senator Harry Reid.

“Las Vegas community members donate their time, money and talents every year and show tremendous support to AFAN and its mission but there is always more work to be done,” said AFAN Executive Director Antioco Carrillo. “HIV/AIDS is everyone’s public health issue and does not discriminate by gender, race or socioeconomic status. It is through this sense of community and duty that we can come together to truly make a difference.”

Offering freshly-made fruit juices, signature smoothies, and better-for-you food options, Jamba Juice is opening a new location in Las Vegas. Lev Restaurant Group, the management company of FC Juice Partners, LLC (“Juice Partners”), an exclusive area developer of Jamba Juice® outlets in Southern Nevada, is opening a 12th Jamba Juice store in the Las Vegas market.

 

Conveniently located at 365 Hughes Center Drive, suite 120 in a brand-new strip mall at the Howard Hughes Business Center, the newest Jamba Juice location will open to the public during the last week in August.

TV Personality Ross Mathews Hosts AFAN’s 29th Annual Black & White Party

 TV personality Ross Mathews will bring his charisma and his own fashion-forward monochromatic look to Las Vegas when he hosts Aid for AIDS of Nevada’s (AFAN) 29th Annual Black & White Party on Saturday, Aug. 29 at 9 p.m. inside The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

The premier party of the year will showcase a pop up wedding chapel and fully ordained officiant to perform weddings and vow renewals for the first time in Black & White history.

Entertainers including The Perry Twins, Maren Wade, “Love is Love” by Legends in Concert, Pia Zadora, DJ Axis, Nick Ayler, The Sound Collage, Brandon Godfrey and Boiis will take the stage while steampunk-inspired decor from the International Special Events Society (ISES) transforms the venue.

Guests will sample bites from top restaurants including Culinary Dropout, Ferraro’s, FU, Pink Taco, 35 Steaks + Martinis, Hexx, Popcorn Girl, Jamba Juice, Brio and more. Back Bar USA will pour top shelf spirits from its portfolio of brands including Bacardi, Corona, Cavalli Vodka, Absolut and Jameson.

With Purchase of Jamba Juice Outlets

Agreement includes development of additional Jamba Juice® locations throughout Southern California

 Lev Restaurant Group, the management company of FC Juice Partners LLC (“Juice Partners”), the Las Vegas-based exclusive area developer of Jamba Juice® throughout the Las Vegas Valley, has announced the purchase of four Southern California Jamba Juice stores from the Jamba Juice Company.  With the addition of these four stores, Juice Partners currently owns and operates 14 Jamba Juice locations with additional locations under development.

The purchased Southern California locations are located in Sherman Oaks, Studio City and Encino, California. Juice Partners will invest additional capital into the stores and will introduce Jamba’s increasingly popular whole food blending and juicing menu.

The stores are located at 14622 Ventura Boulevard (La Reina Fashion Place), 12265 Ventura Boulevard, 17340 Ventura Boulevard (Encino Oaks Shopping Center) and 16443 Ventura Boulevard. Along with the asset purchase agreement of the four stores Juice Partners enters into a development agreement to develop a minimum of 10 additional Jamba Juice stores in adjacent territories in Southern California, including Altadena, Flintridge/La Canada, Van Nuys, and North Hollywood.

“We’re happy to be a part of the Jamba Juice family and have had great success with our stores in Las Vegas, especially being selected to open Jamba Juice’s first ever drive-thru location in Las Vegas,” said Phil Patent, President of Juice Partners. “We are thrilled to expand our operating footprint into Southern California and look forward to building more stores and continue rolling out the whole food blending and freshly squeezed juicing program.”

The sale of the stores to Juice Partner is part of a re-franchising initiative undertaken by Jamba Juice, as the company continues to move toward a more franchise operated business model. The sale was effective on April 2, 2014.

A plethora of Vegas’ entertainers will unite in the fight against HIV/AIDS at the 24th annual AIDS Walk on Sunday, May 4 at UNLV to benefit Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN).

For the 13th year in a row, Penn & Teller will serve as grand marshals and leaders of the Penn & Teller Challenge, matching donations of $250 or more.

Local TV personality Chris Saldaña and morning co-host at 100.5 FM KXNT Dayna Roselli will host the day’s festivities, which will kick-off with Josh Strickland from VEGAS! The Show singing the National Anthem. Also performing during the opening ceremony and at the community picnic following the walk are: acts from Le Rêve – The Dream at Wynn Las Vegas, Rose.Rabbit.Lie, Panda!, Mo5aic, Absinthe, Million Dollar Quartet, Popovich Comedy Pet Theater, DJ Axis, Zodiac Dragon, Las Vegas Kaminari Taiko Drummers, Kaution Dance Kru and instructors from TruFusion Yoga will lead the warm up before the walk.

AIDS Walk Las Vegas has become the largest fundraiser of the year for AFAN, with more than 12,000 walkers in 2013, raising more than $400,000. Understanding that the fight against HIV/AIDS is a community effort, AFAN is inviting other local HIV/AIDS nonprofits to participate in AIDS Walk and giving back 50% of the money raised by their teams to support their own organization’s fundraising missions.

Presenting sponsors of AIDS Walk include Penn & Teller, Walgreens, Findlay Cadillac and Findlay Honda, Ketel One Vodka, Jetflicks, Vegas Seven, CBS Radio and Jamba Juice.

Sign-in begins at 8 a.m. in front of the Student Union with the opening ceremony at 9 a.m. and the walk beginning at 10:30. The community picnic, which is a joint effort with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), will be held immediately following the walk in front of the Student Union and feature some of Las Vegas’ finest food trucks.

To kick off the weekend, TAO Nightclub at The Venetian will host the fourth annual Red Party on Thursday, May 1 with free admission and two-hour open bar for attendees dressed in red. TAO will make a donation to AFAN for every guest that arrives dressed in red.

More than 3,500 Walkers Expected to Raise $575,000 for JDRF

More than 3,500 walkers representing local businesses, families, schools, and other organizations are expected to participate in the JDRF Nevada Chapter’s annual Walk to Cure Diabetes, on Saturday, November 10 at UNLV. The chapter has set a fundraising goal of more than $575,000 which will help fund research toward preventing, better treating, and curing type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications.

“It’s great to be partnering with JDRF and working together toward such an important goal – promoting awareness of  type 1 diabetes and raising funds to advance research,” said Tony Twist, Region Vice President of Cash America / SuperPawn and Co-Chair of this year’s Walk.  “By working together, we can make a difference for the millions of people who are affected by this disease.”

The Walk is expected to draw an enthusiastic crowd of all ages, driven to support a great cause while enjoying an event that includes entertainment, food and type 1 advocacy.  On-site registration begins at  9:00 a.m.  The entire walk will be approximately three miles long, starting on the North Field of the UNLV Campus.
