TV Personality Ross Mathews Hosts AFAN’s 29th Annual Black & White Party

TV personality Ross Mathews will bring his charisma and his own fashion-forward monochromatic look to Las Vegas when he hosts Aid for AIDS of Nevada’s (AFAN) 29th Annual Black & White Party on Saturday, Aug. 29 at 9 p.m. inside The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

The premier party of the year will showcase a pop up wedding chapel and fully ordained officiant to perform weddings and vow renewals for the first time in Black & White history.

Entertainers including The Perry Twins, Maren Wade, “Love is Love” by Legends in Concert, Pia Zadora, DJ Axis, Nick Ayler, The Sound Collage, Brandon Godfrey and Boiis will take the stage while steampunk-inspired decor from the International Special Events Society (ISES) transforms the venue.

Guests will sample bites from top restaurants including Culinary Dropout, Ferraro’s, FU, Pink Taco, 35 Steaks + Martinis, Hexx, Popcorn Girl, Jamba Juice, Brio and more. Back Bar USA will pour top shelf spirits from its portfolio of brands including Bacardi, Corona, Cavalli Vodka, Absolut and Jameson.

More than 40 raffle prizes will be up for grabs including packages from Aria, Life is Beautiful, Mandarin Oriental, Exotics Racing, Penn & Teller and The Cosmopolitan.

The $50 GA ticket price also grants admission to the official after party at Piranha Nightclub and Temptation Sundays pool party at the Luxor the following day.

While the Black & White is an unforgettable festive atmosphere, AFAN Executive Director Antioco Carrillo wants guests to remember the evening still has a sobering purpose to fight HIV/AIDS and eradicate the stigma it carries in Southern Nevada.

“We want people to get dressed up, come let loose and have the time of their lives,” said Carrillo. “But at the same time, it’s important to remember the event is ultimately dedicated to raising funds for locals living with AIDS and sending a message of prevention.”

Tickets can be purchased at afanlv.org. $130 VIP tickets with early entry at 8 p.m. or VIP tables with four tickets for $600 are also available. Guests must be 21+ years old and black and white attire required for admission.

Hard Rock Hotel is offering a special room package for party attendees by visiting hardrockhotel.com/las-vegas-specials/hotel-deals/afan-black-white-ball/803 or calling 800.343.4346 and using code HAFAN15

Golden Rainbow Announces Additional “Ribbon of Life” Performers

A limited number of tickets to the annual event are still available and start at $45

The 2015 “Ribbon of Life” production, Rockin’ the Ribbon, has added even more amazing talent. On Sunday, June 28 at The New Tropicana Las Vegas, audiences will see performances by Clint Holmes, Pia Zadora, Jan Rouven, Philip Drennen, House Seats Presents, RagTag Entertainment, and Celebrity City Chorus.

These talented performers will join stars from Las Vegas’ favorite shows including “ShowStoppers,” “Jubilee,” “Jersey Boys,” “Million Dollar Quartet,” “MJ Live,” “Legends in Concert,” “Pin Up,” “Vegas! The Show,” and more.

A limited number of tickets to the annual “Ribbon of Life” event are still available and start at $45. Keeping with the Rockin’ the Ribbon theme, Golden Rainbow will give away one pair of tickets and a two-night stay at The New Tropicana Las Vegas in a Facebook contest encouraging followers to rock their ribbons. To enter, people are encouraged to submit photos that show them creatively donning the signature red HIV/AIDS ribbon to RockYourRibbon@gmail.com. Deadline for submissions is Monday, June 22.

Rockin’ the Ribbon will benefit men, women, and children throughout the community who are affected by HIV/AIDS. The production will feature a wide variety of rock and roll themed numbers performed by stars of the Las Vegas Strip. The 29th annual “Ribbon of Life” event will be hosted by Edie (“Zumanity”) and Sean McAllister (“MORE” and “MORE Access”). The show will be immediately followed by an after party in the Havana Room, where attendees can mix and mingle with performers and partake in a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres.

“Ribbon of Life” was created 29 years ago by members of the Las Vegas entertainment community in response to seeing one of their own diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. Tragically, due to fear and ignorance of the disease, he was forced to live, and eventually die, in his family’s garage. To raise prevention awareness and money to assist those affected by the disease, entertainers organized the show. The show, then called “Golden Rainbow,” led to the creation of the nonprofit organization. The annual event is one of the largest HIV/AIDS fundraisers in the state of Nevada and is Golden Rainbow’s main source of revenue.

Tickets are now on sale and sponsorship packages are available. For more information, visit www.goldenrainbow.org.

About U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program www.toysfortots.org

MISSION:
The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

GOAL:
The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.

OBJECTIVES:
The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.

ACTIVITIES:
The principal Toys for Tots activity which takes place each year is the collection and distribution of toys in the communities in which a Marine Corps Reserve Unit is located.  In communities without a Reserve Unit, the campaign can be conducted by a Marine Corps League Detachment or group of men and women, generally veteran Marines, authorized by Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to conduct a local Toys for Tots campaign.  Local Toys for Tots Campaign Coordinators conduct an array of activities throughout the year, which include golf tournaments, foot races, bicycle races and other voluntary events designed to increase interest in Toys for Tots, and concurrently generate toys and monetary donations.
