Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto will introduce his celebrated ramen restaurant Momosan Ramen & Sake through a series of pop-up dinner experiences January 23-26 at his eponymous restaurant at MGM Grand. Guests can enjoy a taste of the ramen-forward concept through an exclusive a la carte menu, available only in the Morimoto lounge. Momosan, a nickname of Chef Morimoto, debuted in New York City in 2016 to consumer and critical acclaim and long lines.

“Momosan pays homage to my childhood in Hiroshima, where I developed an early love of noodles,” said Iron Chef Morimoto. “While ramen is our focus, we also feature a variety of other traditional and contemporary Japanese-inspired comfort foods.  I’m honored to share one of my favorite and most personal culinary projects with MGM Grand’s guests and visitors.”

Momosan Ramen & Sake menu highlights will include: 

  • Tokyo Chicken Ramen: Soy-marinated chicken in a creamy chicken broth, topped with menma, kikurage, aji-tama, nori and scallion, drizzled with soy tare
  • Momosan Tonkotsu: Pork chashu in a traditional, thick broth prepared with aji-tama, takana, kikurage, scallion and toasted nori, finished with garlic oil and soy tare
  • Soft Shell Bao: Crispy softshell crab with pickled cucumber and mustard mayo inside a bao bun
  • Gyudon: Thin beef belly with onion, dashi soy and pickled ginger served over rice
  • Crispy Mimiga: Japanese fried pig ear seasoned with shichimi and sake; served with a side of Japanese mayo

Masaharu Morimoto
Chef Masaharu Morimoto — known to millions as the star of Iron Chef and Iron Chef America — has garnered critical and popular acclaim for his seamless integration of Western and Japanese ingredients.  Since 1998, Morimoto has competed on the Japanese television show, Iron Chef and also appears on the Food Network’s Iron Chef America. Born in Japan, Chef Matsuhisa has used his travels around the globe to create both authentic and inventive Japanese-fusion cuisine. Masaharu Morimoto Celebrates First Anniversary at MGM Grand, November 3-4

Iron Chef adds additional events to mark the milestone; 2nd seven-course pairing feast added upon quick sell-out

Masaharu Morimoto will celebrate his eponymous restaurant’s first anniversary at MGM Grand November 3-4 with a weekend full of opportunities for guests to hang out with the famed Japanese chef and star of Food Network’s “Iron Chef America.”

“Las Vegas has been so good to me this past year, I wanted to repay the favor,” said Chef Morimoto. “I look forward to spending this special weekend with my fans who have made this such a memorable year.”

 

  • Book Signing – Saturday, November 4: Beginning at 3 p.m., Chef Morimoto will join the iconic golden lion in MGM Grand’s lobby to sign copies of his latest cookbook, Mastering the Art of Japanese Home Cooking. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at MGM Grand’s lobby store, Grand & Company. Culinary buffs will have the opportunity to take pictures with Chef Morimoto, and have a cookbook or personalized photo signed by the Iron Chef himself.

 

  • $300 Seven-Course Pairing Feast – Friday, November 3 & Saturday, November 4: Since Friday’s anniversary feast sold out in 48 hours, Chef Morimoto’s is extending the celebration to Saturday, November 4, with an additional 60-seat dinner. The seven-course meal features fan favorites – including the Toro Tartare and White Truffle Wagyu Beef Carpaccio – along with opulent wine pairings, capped off with a pour of Louis XIII to end the evening. Chef Masaharu Morimoto—known to millions as the star of Iron Chef and Iron Chef America—has garnered critical and popular acclaim for his seamless integration of Western and Japanese ingredients. In 2001, Morimoto opened his first restaurant in Philadelphia, which was later followed by restaurants in New York, Napa, Honolulu, Boca Raton, Mumbai, New Delhi, Mexico City and Maui. Morimoto Asia Disney Springs, Orlando, opened in 2015 followed by Momosan Ramen and Sake in NYC, Morimoto Bangkok in Thailand and Morimoto Las Vegas at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, all in 2016. IRON CHEF MASAHARU MORIMOTO SET TO OPEN NEW RESTAURANT AT THE MIRAGE

  

Masaharu Morimoto, renowned Japanese chef and star of Food Network’s “Iron Chef America,” will bring his passion for cooking to the Las Vegas Strip with the opening of Morimoto Las Vegas, a new Japanese restaurant at The Mirage . Slated to open in early 2014, Morimoto Las Vegas will feature the contemporary Japanese cuisine and signature sushi that has earned Chef Morimoto worldwide acclaim. The restaurant will take the location currently occupied by Japonais.

“Chef Morimoto is a world-renowned culinary icon and the unparalleled talent he brings with his restaurant concepts will be directly reflected in his venue at The Mirage,” said President and COO of The Mirage Trevor Scherrer. “This partnership will continue to elevate our dining offerings, presenting our guests with an exclusive experience from the most-recognized and respected Iron Chef in the world.”

Hospitality Leaders to Receive Dom Pérignon Award of Excellence at 39th Annual UNLVino

The 39th annual UNLVino will recognize four leaders in the hospitality industry with the Dom Pérignon Award of Excellence at a series of exciting tasting events, April 18 to 21. Celebrity chefs Thomas Keller and Masaharu Morimoto; acclaimed restaurateur Elizabeth Blau; and MGM Grand President & COO Scott Sibella have been selected by students of UNLV’s William F. Harrah Hotel College of Hotel Administration and Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada to receive this prestigious award.

UNLVino’s Dom Pérignon Award of Excellence honors individuals who have distinguished themselves through inspirational leadership, character and work ethic.

Now in its 39th year, UNLVino has expanded to include four signature events: Bubble-Licious, Sake Fever, the Grand Tasting and BAR-b-q. Funds raised through UNLVino will benefit students of UNLV’s Hotel College – our future hospitality industry leaders. In addition to being Nevada’s original wine festival, UNLVino’s commitment to scholarship is a key differentiator from other culinary events in Las Vegas. This year’s theme is “Fall in Love Again,” a concept inspired by artist Romero Britto’s painting created for the event.

  • Thomas Keller, Award-Winning Celebrity Chef

Chef Thomas Keller is renowned for his culinary skills and exceptionally high standards, having established a collection of restaurants that set a new paradigm within the hospitality industry. His accolades include consecutive “Best Chef” awards from the James Beard Foundation, “Chef of the Year” by the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and multiple three-star ratings by the Michelin Guide. He will be recognized for his achievements at Bubble-Licious – an evening of exquisite champagnes, sparkling wines and exotic champagne cocktails under the stars – at The Venetian, home to two of Keller’s restaurants, Bouchon and Bouchon Bakery. Also a James Beard and Michelin decorated chef, Morimoto was recently inducted into the Culinary Hall of Fame for his collection of celebrated restaurants and unrivaled win-loss record on Iron Chef, which has positioned him as one of the foremost chefs today. Morimoto will be honored at Sake Fever, an elegant celebration authentic and precisely crafted Asian beverages and cuisine, poolside at The Mirage. Tickets are $100 in advance; $125 at the door.

  • Elizabeth Blau, Celebrated Restaurateur

Grand Tasting at Paris Las Vegas – Sat. April 20: 7-10 p.m.

An industry leader known for her fresh and innovative approach, Elizabeth Blau has played an integral role in Las Vegas’ transformation to the world-class culinary destination it is today. Founder and Chairman of Blau & Associates, she recently debuted her first solo venture, Honey Salt, to widespread acclaim. Blau is also a trustee at the Culinary Institute of America and sits on the UNLV Dean’s Advisory Board. She will receive the Dom Pérignon Award of Excellence at UNLVino’s 39th annual Grand Tasting at Paris Las Vegas, which will feature an array of international wines, specialty beers and spirits, complemented with cuisine by a selection of the city’s favorite restaurants and the talented students of UNLV’s Hotel College.   • Scott Sibella, Hospitality Executive and UNLV Alumnus BAR-b-q at the Keep Memory Alive Events Center at Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health – Sun. April 21: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. A graduate of UNLV’s Hotel College, Scott Sibella is President and Chief Operating Officer of MGM Grand, overseeing all operations including “The Grand Renovation,” a massive, strategic revamp of the iconic resort. A 25-year veteran of the hospitality industry, Sibella will be honored at UNLVino’s first ever BAR-b-q at the Keep Memory Alive Events Center at Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. This luxurious tasting event is all about the BAR, with a variety of high-end cuisines prepared by celebrity chefs Charlie Palmer, Scott Conant and Gustav Mauler, elevated by Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada’s internationally recognized Master Mixologist Francesco Lafranconi’s craft-cocktail creations.
