AWARD-WINNING LIP SMACKING FOODIE TOURS INTRODUCES LAS VEGAS ARTS DISTRICT

September 2019) – Following the success of its innovative gourmet culinary walking tours through Las Vegas’ revitalized downtown and along its desirable Strip, the award-winning Lip Smacking Foodie Tours proudly introduces a brand-new itinerary to its roster – the eclectic “Arts District Lip Smacking Tour.”

On this tour, attendees explore one of the city’s most spirited and colorful neighborhoods—home to a slew of talented artists and artisans. Here, the popular “First Friday’’ arts and cultural festival entices nearly 15,000 people on the first Friday of each month to stroll and admire one-of-a-kind local art. Spunk and creativity abound along the 18 blocks encompassing the Arts District, with a lively mix of independent businesses including vintage clothing boutiques, antique stores, theaters, art galleries, bars and restaurants.

This inspiring experience escorts groups to up to four locations, with each restaurant presenting an array of distinctive dishes while patrons relax and mingle. Guests are treated as VIPs as they are personally greeted by chefs and proprietors and whisked to the best seats in the house at each venue. Guests never wait in line or need to make reservations.

On this tour, guests will get a taste of the best the Arts District has to offer as they meet some of its most distinctive chefs. The first stop is Esther’s Kitchen, where the seasonal Italian cuisine is served on handmade tableware fashioned at a pottery studio just steps away from the restaurant. Chef James Trees, a Las Vegas native, has worked under such culinary luminaries as Gordon Ramsay, Eric Ripert, Ray Garcia and Michael Mina. The restaurant, named for his Great-Aunt Esther whose generosity helped him attend the Culinary Institute of America and open his first restaurant, specializes in scratch-made pastas, pizzas and breads.

At Jammyland, guests will feast not only with their palate, but also their eyes. Former New Yorkers Danielle Crouch and Allan Katz opened this Jamaica restaurant in a converted garage with a spacious patio with twinkling lights featuring two vibrant wall murals, including one that depicts the history of Jamaican music around the globe. Here, guests can groove to Reggae tunes, peruse an extensive rum list, and feast on modern Caribbean fare such as the classic meat patty with curried grass-fed beef enfolded in a turmeric-scented pastry, as well as the popular jerk wings which are marinated for 24 hours and smoked in-house.

Afterward, guests get a chance to stretch their legs while taking in iconic artwork, including “Paintbrush Gateway,’’ Dennis Oppenheim’s two 45-foot tall steel paintbrushes that emit beams of rainbow-colored LED light 2,000 feet skyward. They will also see the thought-provoking “Chain Migration’’ by artist Izaac Zevalking, known as the Recycled Propaganda, which depicts the Statue of Liberty in handcuffs.

The tour excursion ends with a sweet taste of history. At Cornish Pasty Co., Cornwall, England native Dean Thomas continues the tradition of making English, hand-held pies that originated in the 1200s when wives and mothers baked them as a convenient packable lunch for miners. Thomas also serves classic British desserts, including Banoffee Pie made with house-made caramel, fresh bananas and a fluff of whipped cream; Sticky Toffee Pudding; and Chocolate Bread & Butter Pudding that features warm, house-baked bread soaked in a rich chocolate-brandy sauce and served crisp on the outside and custardy within.

The new Arts District tour is $125 per person. For an even more elevated experience, guests may add an optional $50 per person beverage package that includes a pre-selected signature cocktail at each stop. Click here to make a reservation.

Highlights of BARDOT’s brunch include:

  • Elevated Breakfast Classics – BARDOT’s towering French Toast is a sweet brioche covered in orgeat syrup, candied almonds and mascarpone frosting. The Hunter’s Waffle features a gourmet twist of duck confit, root vegetable hash, poached egg and maltaise sauce, a classic sauce made by adding the juice of blood oranges to a basic Hollandaise. BARDOT’s Seasonal Fruit is offered with a unique parfait presentation of layered frozen pistachio yogurt accompanied by melt-in-your-mouth beignets.
  • Croissant Benedicts – BARDOT’s re-imagined Benedict comes to life on a buttery, flaky croissant on par with the best Parisian bakeries. Guests can select Maine Lobster, Smoked Salmon, Swiss Chard or the classic Paris Ham complemented by a perfectly poached egg and creamy hollandaise.
  • Egg Presentations – A highlight of the menu, Chef Mina has taken on several traditional “les œufs” dishes and incorporated his own stylish spin. The King Crab Crepe envelops a sunny-side-up egg with hearty portions of king crab and wild mushroom topped with Normandy Cider Beurre Blanc. Fluffy and rich, the French Omelet is filled with gruyére cheese, fines herbs and fresh shallots; while the Quiche Lorraine combines Neuske’s bacon and organic eggs into a traditional French tart.
  • Everlasting Rosé Wine – Bringing an additional touch of chic to brunch, BARDOT is the only restaurant in Las Vegas to feature rosé wine. For $20 a person, guests can sip Château D’Esclans Whispering Angel throughout their meal. Wine connoisseurs looking to take advantage of BARDOT’s unparalleled variety of coveted rosé wines also may select from the restaurant’s exclusive roving rosé cart featuring top vintages from around the world.
  • Brunch Cocktails – Crafted by ARIA and Mina’s mixology teams, BARDOT presents a variety of inventive early-day libations such as the La Belle Helene, a refreshing mixture of Grey Goose Le Melon Vodka, basil, lime and sparkling rosé garnished with fresh honeydew. A twist on the classic ginger libation, the French Mule features rare yellow chartreuse, yuzu and ginger syrup with a unique radish garnish.

Chef Michael Mina’s newest concept celebrates a renaissance of French technique

bardot brasserie

BARDOT Brasserie, Las Vegas’ debut French concept from James Beard award-winning chef Michael Mina, is now open for dinner and weekend brunch at  ARIA Resort & Casino. Paying homage to the skillful culinary techniques, celebrated libations and sexy atmosphere for which The City of Light is renowned, Chef Mina has created a stylish and unforgettable interpretation of a Parisian brasserie in the center of The Strip.

“Upon entering BARDOT, every detail transports guests to a café along the Champs-Élysées in the 1920s,” said Mina. “I am thrilled to introduce this restaurant to Las Vegas and for it to be a part of one of the most dynamic culinary scenes in the world.”

Le Menu
To create BARDOT’s menu, Chef Mina and Executive Chef Joshua Smith merged their travels to Paris with exceptional culinary techniques to develop an array of imaginative dishes.

  • Inspired Cuisine – Chef Mina pays homage to classic French cuisine presenting an exquisite array of signature dishes that celebrate the iconic café culture of Paris. Traditional Onion Soup Gratinée is a gourmet masterpiece that guests can customize with Perigord truffles, braised oxtail and a soft-poached egg; while wings offer an ode to the traditional Duck À L’Orange dish. BARDOT’s version of a Croque Madame is piled high with Paris Ham and Gruyére Fondue then topped with an over-easy organic egg.
  • Seafood Selections – BARDOT’s extensive seafood menu includes exotic dishes such as Monkfish Bourride, Sautéed Skate Wing and Yellowfin Tuna Niçoise, in addition to a seafood tower that guests can personalize with lobster, king crab, oysters, clams and shrimp.
  • Steak Frites – BARDOT offers the highest quality cuts of beef cooked over an oak wood and charcoal grill. The restaurant’s Steak Frites is a perfect dish for French food aficionados and novices alike featuring an 8 oz. Flat Iron, 12 oz. Ribeye or 8 oz. Filet, which can be accompanied by béarnaise, au poivre, bordelaise or foie gras butter. Pair the dish with simply sinful beef fat fries and bon appétit!
  • Decadent Desserts – For dessert, Chefs Mina and Smith took the traditional French Macaron and cooked up a large-scale presentation of the ultra-decadent sweet, drizzled with chocolate sauce. Lemon fans will swoon over BARDOT’s Lemon Meringue Tart, prepared with market citrus and fresh berries, while lovers of the classic French desserts will marvel at the Mille Fueille, a caramelized puff pastry with vanilla crème patisserie.

Les Boissons
ARIA’s Mixologist Craig Schoettler, Wine Director Kim Wood and Mina Group’s Director of Cocktails Carlo Splendorini salute French drinking tradition with an inventive beverage menu that cannot be experienced elsewhere.

  • Finest Wines – Wood curated one of the most extensive by-the-glass programs, as well as the largest selection of French wines in Las Vegas at BARDOT, highlighting the finest small production and rare vintages from across the globe. Additionally, BARDOT will be one of the only restaurants in the country offering wines by the houses of Couly-Dutheil, Patrick Piuze and Domaine Cosse Maisonneuve, regarded as some of the finest in France.
  • Innovative Cocktails – The restaurant’s cocktail program combines the best of French culture and Las Vegas style. Signature sips include And God Created Women, a satisfying layering of French spirits and egg whites; and the Voltaire, a cider-based cocktail that dazzles the senses with baked apple bitters and housemade ginger syrup.
  • Eclectic Brews – Beer enthusiasts will be delighted by more than 80 international hard-to-find varieties such as Germany’s Kulmbacher, Belgium’s N’ice Chouffe and France’s Jade Organic. BARDOT also boasts its own exclusive craft beer, Hors D’âge, brewed in Northern France in collaboration with Stillwater Artisanal Ales.
  • Historic Spirits – Schoettler scoured the beverage world to garner BARDOT Brasserie’s impressive collection of historic spirits, including cognacs dating back to 1811 and Las Vegas’ largest selection of Chartreuse, the legendary French liqueur distilled by Carthusian Monks.

L’atmosphére
Created by Bishop Pass Interior Architectural Design Studio, BARDOT’s space exudes a dark and sexy, almost enigmatic atmosphere.

  • Big Brass Bar – A vibrant location for mingling with friends or grabbing a cocktail, BARDOT’s bar will catch visitors’ attention the minute they walk inside. Perched high above the zinc countertop is a maze of brass pipes connecting to form shelves for the venue’s high-end spirits and alcohol.
  • Chic Dining Room – BARDOT’s main dining room offers a traditional yet luxurious dining space. Walls of black lacquer are paneled with gold pen striping, surrounding a series of Parisian columns. Burgundy leather booths and bistro-style tables spread across a pristine marble floor, where guests can sneak a peek inside the restaurant’s show kitchen as they watch their meals come to life.
  • Sidewalk Café – A nod to Parisian sidewalk cafes, BARDOT features intimate seating outside of the restaurant for an entertaining dining and people-watching experience. Situated in the courtyard overlooking ARIA’s second-floor promenade, the locale’s French-inspired storefront and high windows transport guests to a 20th century literary café in Paris.

BARDOT Brasserie is located on the second floor of ARIA. The restaurant’s hours of operation are:

  • Dinner daily from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • Brunch from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday
  • Nightly happy hour from 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the bar and in the lounge

Innovative French cocktails, restaurant-exclusive beer and Las Vegas’s largest collection of
Chartreuse complement Michael Mina’s newest concept at ARIA Resort & Casino

BARDOT Brasserie, Michael Mina’s new French concept at ARIA Resort & Casino, will debut a beverage program inspired by France’s passion for incredible spirits, wine and beer upon its opening Friday, January 16.

Complementing Chef Mina’s delectable fare, BARDOT’s beverage program crafts unforgettable libations featuring unique French spirits. Additionally, BARDOT introduces its own signature French beer, Hors D’âge, brewed exclusively for the restaurant in the northern hills of France. Guests will be able to select from vintage cognacs dating back to the 1800s as well as Las Vegas’ largest collection of Chartreuse.

“We’ve strived to create a beverage program that truly celebrates the dynamic bar and café culture of Paris while enhancing the classic French dishes on our menu,” said Chef Mina. “A restaurant’s bar is an essential component of the dining experience and the bar at BARDOT feels like it could be in the heart of Paris with cocktail selections that are as unforgettable as the cuisine.”

Highlights of BARDOT’s beverage offerings include:

Parisian-Inspired Cocktails: A collaboration between ARIA’s Property Mixologist Craig Schoettler and Mina Group’s Director of Cocktails Carlo Splendorini, the cocktail program is an ode to Parisian culture with unique yet refined cocktail offerings, such as:

  • Voltaire – Voltaire once stated that “Illusion is the first of all pleasures.” In that vein, cider-based cocktails must be second, as this concoction of Eric Bordelet cider, Grey Goose L’Orange vodka, housemade ginger syrup and baked apple bitters dazzles the senses.
  • Storming the Bastille – As progressive as the French Revolution, this libation is made from Bastille whisky, Maurin sweet vermouth and Bitterman coffee bitters.
  • And God Created Women – Titled after the iconic 1956 film that pushed the boundaries of sexuality in American cinema, this seductive signature cocktail mixes Citadelle St. Germain, Angostura bitters and egg white with the wine-based aperitif, Byrrh.

With its signature brew at the program’s forefront, BARDOT’s beer selection focuses on imports and unique craft brews, including:

  • Exclusive Brews – Brewed in the small town of Esquelbecq, France, BARDOT’s signature beer, Hors D’âge cannot be experienced elsewhere. The effervescent Flemish Country Ale was produced in partnership with craft brewery Stillwater Artisanal Ales, characterized by its use of only the finest French barley, wheat and hops.
  • International Beer Selections – Beer enthusiasts will be delighted by more than 80 international hard-to-find brews on the menu such as Switzerland’s Brasserie de Franches-Montagnes, Belgium’s Cantillon and Denmark’s Mikkeller.
  • Sparkling Ciders – As the cider trend continues to bloom, BARDOT will offer the rare Eric Bordelet from Normandy and Finnriver from Washington, ciders for a sweet, yet crisp beverage experience.

Finest Wines: BARDOT’s wine list will transport guests to Paris with small production and rare vintages, highlighted by:

  • French Staples – BARDOT will be one of the only restaurants in the country offering wines by the houses of Couly-Dutheil, Patrick Piuze and Domaine Cosse Maisonneuve, widely regarded as some of the finest in France.
  • Wine By-The-Glass – With one of the most extensive by-the-glass programs in Las Vegas, BARDOT’s offerings are largely French in origin, giving a taste of the country’s top producers.
  • Champagne Cart – A rotating selection of four sparkling wines, primarily champagnes, will begin the meal and add a celebratory element to every dining experience.
  • Endless Rosé – A “who’s who” of Rosé, BARDOT’s blushing variety uniquely features wines from around the world. Brunch guests can imbibe in bottomless Château d’Esclans Whispering Angel.

Esoteric Spirits: BARDOT’s selection of liquors will entice spirits aficionados with a revered collection of cognac dating back to 1811 and a remarkable variety of Chartreuse, including:

  • Hardy – Known as one of the best cognacs in the world, the Hardy collection served at BARDOT includes the Family Reserve Rosebud and the exquisite Hardy Perfection as well as a custom blend exclusive to ARIA.
  • The Last Drop – More than 120 years ago, this fine spirit was distilled and can now be enjoyed by worldly cognac connoisseurs.
  • Vintage Chartreuse BARDOT boasts Las Vegas’ largest selection of Chartreuse. This French liqueur, aged with 130 herbs, plants and flowers, is distilled by the Carthusian Monks.

Michael Mina to Debut BARDOT Brasserie at ARIA Resort & Casino

MICHAEL MINA

MICHAEL MINA TO DEBUT BARDOT BRASSERIE AT ARIA RESORT & CASINO

MINA Group’s newest concept will embrace the classic, French brasserie experience

This winter, James Beard award-winning chef Michael Mina will unveil BARDOT Brasserie in the space of AMERICAN FISH at ARIA Resort & Casino. A nod to Hemingway’s Paris, BARDOT Brasserie will offer a place to start the evening with cocktails, celebrate with friends and enjoy lively afternoon brunches on the weekend.

Offering lunch and dinner, the menu will pay homage to the café culture of Paris and will be a reflection of traditional brasserie fare featuring a roving shellfish cart, roasted bone marrow with bacon marmalade, foie gras en croute and steak frites. The BARDOT signature burger will present a dry-aged steak burger with Comte cheese, caramelized onions and a bordelaise sauce. Leading the brassiere’s expert team will be Chef Joshua Smith who began his culinary journey in Las Vegas and has spent many years under the tutelage of Michael Mina, among other celebrated chefs.

The cocktail program will tip its hat to the eclectic bars throughout the Parisian districts, and the rich and wonderful history that exists therein, with twists on classics such as the Sidecar from Harry’s Bar and Serendipity from Bar Hemingway. Featuring an array of new world and old world wines, the wine program will focus on the regions of Burgundy, Bordeaux, the Rhone, Alsace and the Loire.

“We are excited to introduce a sexy new concept to ARIA,” said Michael Mina, chef and Founder of MINA Group.  “Evoking the timeless brasseries of Paris, BARDOT Brasserie will be the perfect addition to our group of restaurant brands, offering French comfort food in a chic atmosphere.”

BARDOT Brasserie will be designed by Bishop Pass to convey the mood of early French film noirs where low lighting and dramatic shadows set the stage for an alluring and mysterious experience. An open kitchen will be set behind a Parisian storefront, while the centerpiece of the restaurant will be a 360-degree accessible bar with counter-to-ceiling brass shelving.
AMERICAN FISH will close in July with the opening of BARDOT Brasserie slated for winter 2014.
