Mystic Falls Park Lights Up for the Holiday Season with Winter Wonderland Décor and Laser Light Show
Tree lighting ceremony on Nov. 22; Cell Phones for Soldiers Drive Returns

Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall will light up its celebrated winter display at Mystic Falls Park on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at its annual tree lighting ceremony hosted by Boyd Gaming Chairman Bill Boyd. The holiday attraction featuring a Winter Wonderland theme and holiday-inspired laser light show will be available for visitors to enjoy through Jan. 1.

Each year, the Mystic Falls Park Light and Water Show transforms just before Thanksgiving to kick off the holiday season. The time-honored tradition goes back to 1994, with decorations beginning in Sam’s Town’s porte-cochere and decorative snowflakes leading guests through the property to Mystic Falls Park. Garland streams, wreath-adorned lampposts and snow-covered trees fill the atrium, and decor offers guests a glimpse inside Santa’s workshop, from elves making toys to loading up Santa’s sleigh with goodies for children.

A nine-minute laser light show is the centerpiece of the display featuring a variety of classic holiday songs, like “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Let It Snow,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” and “Frosty the Snowman.” Performances run every hour, between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Cowboy Santa will also join in the festivities by visiting Mystic Falls Park gazebo beginning Nov. 24 on Thursdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 8:30 p.m. Cowboy Santa will visit Sam’s Town through Friday, Dec. 23.

Sam’s Town is also bringing back its annual tradition of hosting a cell phone drive for Cell Phones for Soldiers. Guests are encouraged to bring cell phones and chargers to the B Connected desk or hotel front desk through Wednesday, Nov. 30. Each donated device provides a service member with nearly two and a half hours of free talk time. Guests who donate cell phones will receive one free dining coupon to Firelight Buffet with the purchase of another buffet.

Boyd Gaming Completes Acquisition of Las Vegas Cannery Casinos

Boyd Gaming today announced that it has completed its acquisition of the Las Vegas assets of Cannery Casino Resorts. The addition of both properties expands Boyd Gaming’s presence to 12 properties in the Southern Nevada, and 24 properties nationwide.

“The Cannery transaction, along with our recent acquisition of Aliante, further expands Boyd Gaming’s presence in the high-performing Las Vegas locals market,” said Keith Smith, Boyd Gaming president and chief executive officer.

Both properties will remain mostly unchanged for the foreseeable future and current operating hours for each property’s many amenities will remain the same. However, the properties are expected to join Boyd Gaming’s award-winning, nationwide loyalty program – B Connected – in 2017.

Cannery Casino Hotel, located on Craig Road, joins the Company as the second Boyd Gaming property in North Las Vegas. The property has an expansive 80,000-square-foot casino and a well-appointed 200-room hotel, plus five restaurants, including Waverly’s Steakhouse and Cannery Row Buffet. The property’s 30,000-square-foot entertainment venue, The Club, is a versatile venue that can expand out to the property’s pool deck and hosts a variety of tribute artists and special events.

Eastside Cannery Casino and Hotel, located next to Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall on Boulder Highway, expands Boyd Gaming’s presence on the east side of the Las Vegas Valley. With a spacious 64,000-square-foot casino, 300 hotel rooms, and a massive 20,000-square-foot meeting and event space, the property is well positioned for special events like weddings, banquets and more. The property’s Eastside Event Center regularly hosts classic rock favorites, with Vince Neil hosting a New Year’s Eve celebration in just a few weeks.

The transaction follows Boyd Gaming’s acquisition of North Las Vegas’ Aliante Casino + Hotel + Spa in September 2016. For more information on Cannery Casino Hotel and Eastside Cannery Casino and Hotel, visit  www.cannerycasino.com and www.eastsidecannery.com.

Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall today announced the opening of The Angry Butcher Steakhouse – a contemporary take on the classic American steakhouse, featuring an eclectic menu of rustic steakhouse fare paired with signature side dishes.

“The Angry Butcher is inspired by the classic ambiance for which Sam’s Town is well-known,” said Mark LaVoie, Vice President of Food and Beverage for Boyd Gaming. “The restaurant offers an inspired take on American steakhouse favorites, presented in an authentic, comfortable environment. Whether you’re a Sam’s Town regular or have never been to the property before, The Angry Butcher offers an exceptional experience that gives a new reason to visit us.”

Nestled in the heart of the famous Mystic Falls Park, The Angry Butcher is a distinctive dining experience perfect for date night, an after-work happy hour hangout and more. Patio seating allows guests to enjoy the sights and sounds of Mystic Falls Park during daily Social Hour and well into dinnertime, and a bar located near the patio serves up a full menu of The Angry Butcher’s signature cocktails.

The restaurant’s design concept is inspired by its simple, high-contrast neutral color scheme, with sumptuously upholstered private booths, hand-finished ceiling beams and a walnut plank floor. A row of glittering light pendants visually anchor one side of the dining room, and add a timeless yet modern touch. The opposite wall features a spacious display kitchen that runs the length of the restaurant.  A beautifully curated collection of bric-a-brac adorns the arched and lighted display partitions in the center of the dining room.

AB Fat Oysters L

The menu opens with a playful collection of starters, greens and pots, including the fat oysters, coated in seasoned corn meal and deep-fried, then served in the shell with vinegar slaw and a house-made tartar sauce; the beefsteak tomato salad, featuring sliced beefsteak tomatoes topped with basil and aged balsamic vinegar; and the gooey-gruyere-covered French onion soup, a hearty blend of beef stock, caramelized onions and sherry wine topped with a baguette crouton.

AB Steak Tuscan Potatoes L

The Angry Butcher’s signature cuts include the prime rib, which can be enjoyed on or off the bone for less than $35 as well as steakhouse standards like the New York and bone-in Ribeye. Steaks are charbroiled at 800 degrees in a Jade Range Broiler, which sears both sides of the steak, locking in moisture. For a different take on steak, the steak au poivre features a pan-roasted USDA prime flat iron steak topped with a green peppercorn cognac sauce for just $26.

With the “turf” section of the menu well-covered, it is rounded out by a simple selection of the best in “surf,” including Pacific salmon and North Atlantic halibut, pan-roasted in a wood-fired brick oven.

The meal’s sidekicks are a range of reimagined classics like smashed sweet potatoes spiked with bourbon; Tuscan-fried potatoes kissed with olive oil and rosemary; and decadent white cheddar mac and cheese mixed with caramelized onions and smoked bacon. The Angry Butcher also shows its sweet side with indulgent desserts such as warm bread pudding and chocolate espresso layer cake.

Because a cool cocktail is the perfect thing for a hot temper, savor The Angry Butcher’s lineup of signature sips, including the refreshing “What Happens in Fight Club,” a mix of Wild Turkey Rye and Orgeat Syrup, muddled and garnished with fresh mint sprigs; and the “Live by the Gun,” a Bulleit Rye and Amaretto DiSaronno concoction mixed with fresh lemon sour and garnished with fresh lemon peel.

The Angry Butcher is open daily for social hour from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. on the patio and in the bar, with a special menu of small bites like sea salt and vinegar house-made potato chips, pretzel rolls and prime rib dip sliders, all the perfect companions for a signature cocktail. The main dining room opens at 5 p.m.
AB Counting Stacks L
The Angry Butcher is the latest in a series of debuts at Boyd Gaming properties nationwide, including Alder & Birch Cocktails and Dining and Ondori Asian Kitchen at The Orleans; California Noodle House at California Hotel and Casino; Brigg’s Oyster Co. at Suncoast Hotel and Casino; and many more. Boyd Gaming donating $25,000 to local charities through ‘Trees of Hope’
Dozens of non-profits to compete in holiday decorating contest at The Orleans, Gold Coast, Suncoast, Sam’s Town and California

Bringing a Company holiday tradition to southern Nevada for the first time, Boyd Gaming today announced it will be awarding a total of $25,000 this December to local nonprofit organizations in Trees of Hope.

Originating eight years ago at Boyd Gaming’s Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel in Vinton, La., Trees of Hope is a nationwide tree-decorating competition benefiting nonprofit organizations in the communities served by Boyd Gaming. This December, Boyd Gaming properties across the nation will participate in the 2015 Trees of Hope, awarding tens of thousands of dollars to nonprofits across the country.

Southern Nevada will be Boyd Gaming’s single largest Trees of Hope competition, with more than two dozen charities decorating trees at the California, Gold Coast, Orleans, Sam’s Town and Suncoast.

From December 1 to 21, members of the public are invited to visit each participating property and vote for their favorites. Each Las Vegas Valley property will award a $5,000 prize pool to participating charities, including a first-place prize of $2,000.  Winners will be decided by public vote at each property, with an assist by special guest judge Bill Boyd, Executive Chairman of Boyd Gaming.

“Giving back to our communities is an important part of our Company’s culture,” Bill Boyd said. “We’re excited to bring this Company tradition to southern Nevada for the first time, and we hope the public will join us in enjoying these beautiful holiday displays – and supporting some great organizations – at our properties throughout the Las Vegas Valley.”
