The “2020 Billboard Music Awards” Airs
Wednesday, April 29 at 8 P.M. ET/PT on NBC

dick clark productions and NBC announced today that Garth Brooks will receive the coveted ICON Award at the “2020 Billboard Music Awards.” The 19-time Billboard Music Award winner, who joins only eight other artists to ever receive the honor, will also take the stage for a highly anticipated performance.

A true legend, Brooks is the first and only artist in history to achieve eight diamond-certified albums at over 10 million album sales each. He remains the #1-selling solo artist in U.S. history, certified by the RIAA with more than 156 million album sales.

The “2020 Billboard Music Awards” will broadcast live from Las Vegas on Wednesday, April 29 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and will feature this year’s hottest musical acts, unexpected collaborations and buzzworthy moments.

Brooks has earned nine No. 1 albums on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart (the most of any country artist), with chart-toppers in the ’90s, ’00s and ’10s. Seven of them debuted at No. 1. Brooks also claimed 17 No. 1s on the Top Country Albums chart and 89 hits on the Hot Country Songs chart including 19 No. 1s. Among those leaders: “Friends in Low Places,” “The Thunder Rolls,” “Ain’t Going Down (Til the Sun Comes Up),” “Longneck Bottle” and “More Than a Memory.”

In January, Billboard announced that Brooks became the first artist to have appeared on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart in the ‘80s, ‘90s, ‘00s, ‘10s and ‘20s. Brooks first appeared on the chart after the release of his first album, Garth Brooks. Its first single, “Much Too Young (to Feel This Damn Old),” entered the chart in 1989 at No. 94 (when the ranking ran 100 positions deep). The track peaked at No. 8 that July, becoming Brooks’ first of 36 top 10s. Now, in the ’20s, he makes another appearance on the Hot Country Songs chart thanks to his collaborative track with Blake Shelton, “Dive Bar.” The single inspired a Dive Bar tour to dive bars in country music capitals around the U.S., which will continue its run through 2022.

In 2019, Brooks launched the Garth Brooks Stadium Tour, which has broken stadium attendance records at every stop so far and which Pollstar declared as the bestselling country music tour of the year. In 2017, Brooks finished the three-and-a-half-year long Garth Brooks World Tour with wife Trisha Yearwood. The tour sold over 6.3 million tickets, making it the biggest North American tour in history and the biggest American tour in the world.

Previous recipients of the ICON Award include Cher, Neil Diamond, Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey.

NBC and dick clark productions have announced that the network has acquired the rights to broadcast the immensely popular “Billboard Music Awards” in a new multi-year deal set to begin in 2018.

The 2018 telecast, with a date to be announced in the near future, will showcase the hottest musical acts, biggest performances, unexpected collaborations and buzzworthy pop culture moments that will have the world talking.

Since he made his Billboard chart debut in 1964, Hank Williams, Jr. has amassed one of the most prolific catalogs in the history of the music business. On October 21st, Curb Records will celebrate that legacy with the release of Hank Williams, Jr: A Country Boy Can Survive, a four-disc box set that stands as one of the most comprehensive Williams sets ever released.

Focusing on his superstar era that kicked off with 1979’s “Family Tradition,” twenty-nine of his thirty Billboard Top-40 Country hits from 1979-1990 are featured on the collection, which also includes nine of his ten number one hits (including his first 1970’s “All For The Love Of Sunshine,” with The Mike Curb Congregation.) The set also contains fan-favorite album cuts, such as ‘”Outlaw Women,” “Dinosaur,” “The Blues Man” and concert favorite “My Name Is Bocephus,” which originally appeared on his million-selling 1986 set Montana Café. The fourth disc of A Country Boy Can Survive focuses on Williams’ legendary live show, including performances of such classics as “I’m For Love” and “If Heaven Ain’t A Lot Like Dixie,” as well as the iconic title cut – which will celebrate its’ thirty-fifth anniversary in 2017.

Williams’ run with Curb remains one of the most successful recording affiliations in Country Music history. Beginning with 1977’s One Night Stands, the singer charted thirty-seven albums with the label, selling well over seventy million albums worldwide, with fifteen of his albums being certified Gold and eight Platinum. In 1982, the singer earned the distinction of becoming the only artist to simultaneously have nine albums on the Billboard Country Albums chart at one time. He was also one of the most-awarded artists of his time, winning a trio of Entertainer of the Year trophies from the ACM, as well as back-to-back honors from the CMA in 1987 and 1988. His collaboration with his late father, “There’s A Tear In My Beer,” (included on the set) won a Grammy, as well as several other honors in 1989 and 1990.

The release comes as “Bocephus” continues to experience a career resurgence. His latest Nash Icon album, It’s About Time, opened up on the Billboard Country Albums chart at No. 2 – his highest peak on that chart 1990’s Lone Wolf. The album features “Are You Ready For The Country,” a cover of the Neil Young classic with Eric Church that brought Williams his highest singles chart position since 2009. He has also played to sold-out show after another this year – both by himself, as well as with critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton.

Billboard and dick clark productions announced today that the video for Adele’s new single “Send My Love (To Your New Lover),” off her latest album 25, will make its worldwide debut during the “2016 Billboard Music Awards.”  The video for the song, which was co-written with and produced by Max Martin & Shellback, was shot in London and directed by Patrick Daughters (Feist, Muse, Yeah Yeah Yeahs).  The “2016 Billboard Music Awards” will be hosted by Ludacris and Ciara, and will broadcast LIVE from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 22 at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT on ABC.

Adele is currently in the midst of a sold out tour in Europe, which runs through June 15th.  As previously announced, Adele will headline this years Glastonbury Festival in the UK, from June 22-26.  Adele kicks off a sold out tour of North America on July 5th in Minneapolis, MN which runs through November 15th in Mexico City, DF- all dates can be found on her website: adele.com/live

Billboard and dick clark productions announced today that renowned musical performer Celine Dion will be honored with the esteemed ICON Award on the “2016 Billboard Music Awards.”  Dion will also take to the stage for a special rendition of Queen’s “The Show Must Go On” after she accepts one of the most prestigious Billboard awards an artist can receive. The ICON Award is a lifetime achievement award that honors the cultural impact of an artist whose extraordinary talent as a creator and entertainer has stood the test of time. Past recipients include Neil Diamond (2011), Stevie Wonder (2012), Prince (2013) and Jennifer Lopez (2014).

Billboard and dick clark productions announced today that Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato have been added to the lineup of performers at the “2016 Billboard Music Awards.” Tove Lo will join Jonas to perform “Close,” the first single off his eagerly anticipated sophomore album due out in June. Demi Lovato will perform her hit song “Cool For The Summer.” The “2016 Billboard Music Awards” will broadcast LIVE from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 22 at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT on ABC.
