PT’s Taverns, with 65 locations throughout the Las Vegas Valley and Nevada, including PT’s Pub, PT’s Gold, PT’s Ranch, PT’s Brewing Company, Sean Patrick’s, Sierra Gold and SG Bar, will celebrate Fourth of July with special offers at all locations from Thursday, July 4 through Saturday, July 6.

 

PT’s will offer $4 quarter-pound burgers and $4 Bud or Bud Light pints throughout the three days. Specialty hot dogs will also be available, which will include  a regular hot dog, priced at $3; the New Yorker, served with brown mustard and sauerkraut, priced at $4; a Bratwurst, served with three-mustard sauce, priced at $4; the Chicago, served with pickles, tomato, sport peppers, Chicago-style relish, onion, celery salt and yellow mustard, priced at $5; the Ballpark, served with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, bacon and fried onions, priced at $5; a Chili and Cheese dog, topped with chili and shredded cheddar cheese, priced at $5; and the BC&B, a bacon-wrapped hot dog topped with beer cheese, priced at $6.

PT’s happy hour offerings are available daily from 5 to 7 p.m., and midnight to 2 a.m. Selections priced at $6 include Sriracha chicken bites and loaded potato skins; $7 selections include a half-pound pub burger and chicken parmesan sliders; and flatbreads, including three-cheese, meat feast, the Gilroy and buffalo chicken, will be priced at $8.

 

PT’s happy hour also offers a 50 percent discount on drinks including wines by the glass, premium spirits and all craft and import beer, which includes PT’s own craft brews such as the Golden Hefeweizen and Hualapai IPA. Menu items vary by location.

Restaurateurs across the Las Vegas valley are turning up the heat in preparation for Southern Nevada’s leading culinary event, Las Vegas Restaurant Week, June 18-29, 2018.

This year marks the 12th installment of Las Vegas Restaurant Week, which has raised a total of $1.4 million since its inception thanks to visitors, locals and the valley’s restaurant community.

“Las Vegas is the epicenter of the culinary arts, providing access to some of the world’s best restaurants and most talented chefs – that’s what makes Las Vegas Restaurant Week so unique,” said Three Square Food Bank President and CEO Brian Burton. “It’s the time of year when our city’s finest make themselves even more accessible with affordable menus that help feed our hungry neighbors at the same time.”

Key dates to know for Las Vegas Restaurant Week 2018:

  • Launching on Wednesday, June 6 is a website devoted to Las Vegas Restaurant Week –www.helpoutdineoutlv.org – where diners will be able to view a full list of participating restaurants and bars, menu details and prices, search by type of cuisine and book reservations.
  • Happening prior to the start of Las Vegas Restaurant Week from 7 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, is the second annual “Summer Cookout Featuring Robert Irvine” at Robert Irvine’s Public House inside Tropicana Las Vegas. Hosted by Chef Irvine himself, the event welcomes guests to indulge in summertime favorite dishes, refreshing beverages and bites from Tropicana restaurants, including the host restaurant, Oakville Steakhouse and Red Lotus Asian Kitchen.
Proceeds from the ticketed public event will benefit Three Square and can be purchased by calling (800) 829.9034 or visiting www.troplv.com. Tickets are priced at $100 for VIP  entry, $50 for general admission and $40 for all active military, veterans and local law enforcement including first responders (must show valid I.D.), not including tax and fees. Guests must be 21 years or older to attend.
  • Las Vegas Restaurant Week takes place Monday, June 18 – Friday, June 29, with participating restaurants offering prix-fixe menus at price points ranging from $20 to $80.

A fixed portion of each meal’s cost will benefit Three Square, and 100 percent of all proceeds collected will support the nonprofit’s mission of providing meals to more   than 279,000 food insecure residents in Southern Nevada.

A sampling of restaurants already confirmed to participate include: Honey Salt, Foundation Room, Bazaar Meat, Sparrow + Wolf, Chica, Yardbird, Gilley’s Bar-B-Que, Beauty & Essex, Sushi Roku, Lucky Penny and LAVO.

In 2017, the event raised more than $200,000, a record-breaking amount, providing more than 600,000 meals to those in need.

Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada’s Feed Vegas Event Aims to End Hunger in Las Vegas for a Single Day

The organization will provide more than 1,000 meals on the day of the event.

While hunger continues to be an ever-present issue throughout the Las Vegas valley, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada (CCSN), will attempt to completely eradicate the problem for a single day through its “Feed Vegas” celebration, which is held in honor of the organization’s 77th anniversary.

As one of the largest nonprofit social service providers in the state, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, is well known for offering a wide range of services to help the homeless and vulnerable and is no stranger to taking on the challenge of mitigating hunger insecurity in Las Vegas.

“Feed Vegas has been created as a way to celebrate a long-standing tradition of hosting a special gourmet meal for our community members as well as take a legitimate step towards ending hunger in the Las Vegas Valley,” says CCSN President and CEO Deacon Tom Roberts.  “Every journey starts with a single step or in our case, a single day.”

According to Roberts, one of the most important services the organization offers is food, which impacts the lives of the most at-risk members of our community each and every day. And while CCSN has the capacity to serve nearly 1.9 million meals throughout the year and over 1,000 meals on the day of the event, they do not have the capacity to tackle the problem alone.

Recent data shows that almost 300,000 people, or about 15 percent of valley residents, suffer from food insecurity, which means they lack access to enough food for an active, healthy lifestyle.

“We understand that this isn’t an issue that can be solved in a single day, which is why we’re calling on the Las Vegas community for help,” says Roberts. “Each meal we serve costs us approximately $2.50. That means even a small donation can help us a provide a nutritious meal to a lot of people.”

In addition to monetary donations, which can be given through the CCSN website or Amazon Smiles, the organization is asking for volunteers as well.

“Money is important, but volunteers are also critical to the success of our organization, says Roberts. “We couldn’t do what we do without them. We need help in the food pantry, plating meals for Meals on Wheels, and serving in the dining room seven days a week.”

According to Roberts, the community is also encouraged to donate food.

“Our Hands of Hope Community Food Pantry offers a grocery store setting to allow some of the community’s most vulnerable members to choose the groceries that are best for their families,” says Robert. “Contributions from the community of non-perishable food items are what makes this program possible.”

The Feed Vegas celebration will be held Thursday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the St. Vincent Lied Dining Facility, 1511 N Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89101.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Flavor Flav brings his signature recipe – Flavor Flav’s Chicken – to the menu at one of the Las Vegas Strip’s favorite and most notorious party hot spots. Rockhouse Las Vegas will begin serving Flavor Flav’s Chicken on Wednesday, Aug. 17. Flav will be at the venue meeting fans, serving his famed fried chicken and signing autographs during the afternoon.

 

“Flavor Flav has become something of a Las Vegas institution, and he’s been a friend of our properties for a long time,” said Jonathan Fine, president of Rockhouse operator Fine Entertainment Management. “I sometimes have to take a step back and realize, ‘wait – this guy is a music legend, and he’s serving his fried chicken at our place right now.’ We’re really excited to be bringing Flav’s recipe to Rockhouse; it is really, really good stuff.”

 

Rockhouse has partnered with Flav on many occasions, including A Night with Flavor Flav which was held on Friday, July 1. Guests showed up in droves to mingle with Flav who entertained as guest DJ, bartender and served as the evening’s emcee. The new partnership ensures that Flav will be no stranger to the property.

 

Flavor Flav’s Chicken recipe had previously been served at a chain of restaurants that peppered the Las Vegas Valley, but Rockhouse will now serve as the exclusive location for guests to enjoy the signature flavor.

Santa Claus is coming to Downtown Las Vegas for the 10th anniversary of Opportunity Village’s largest annual fundraiser, the Las Vegas Great Santa Run®, on Saturday, December 6, 2014. This marks not only a notable year of the iconic event, but also the 60th anniversary of Opportunity Village, the beloved Las Vegas non-profit.

 

Thousands of Saint Nicholas lookalikes will race, run, and walk to raise funds for Opportunity Village. Santa Clauses will have the choice of participating in a 5K and one-mile Kris Kringle Jingle walk that passes numerous Downtown Las Vegas landmarks and historic sites. As in years’ past, the Great Santa Run will engage participants with costume contests, live entertainment, food, celebrity appearances, and much more, as local businesses will join in on the celebration in support of Opportunity Village.

 

The Great Santa Run raises funds and awareness for Opportunity Village’s programs, which provide unparalleled opportunities, enrichment and support to nearly 3,000 citizens with disabilities and their families throughout the Las Vegas Valley. This fundraising event has been the reigning champion of the “World Santa Challenge” for three consecutive years and hopes to uphold that tradition in 2014.

 

Registration is now open for the 2014 Great Santa Run and is priced at $45 for individuals; $40 per person on a team of five or more; and $30 for children under 17-years-old. Registration includes a five piece Santa suit and a runner goody bag from event sponsors. Participants are also encouraged to bring their canine companions, who can join in on the fun for $10 and receive a doggie bag full of treats and toys. Goodwill of Southern Nevada offers more than forty donation sites across the Las Vegas Valley. Each donation location is staffed by a donation ambassador who can provide tax-deductible receipts and also validate itemized lists. For general donation guidelines, please visit www.irs.gov.

Top performing arts programs across the Las Vegas Valley to compete in showcase
of ensemble musical theater talent for the chance to win scholarship prizes

The Rudy Foundation is proud to announce the participation of the Las Vegas Valley’s top performing arts programs in its first ever Master of the House competition. Kicking off its inaugural year, the event brings together the most talented youth in the “entertainment capital of the world” for a performance showcase, in which musical theater groups will compete for scholarship funds to support their programs and the chance to have football legend Rudy Ruettiger speak at their school.

Hosted by Maggie Wheeler, best known for her role as “Janice” on the #1 hit television series, Friends, the Saturday, April 6th competition will also allow students to participate in a master class workshop with their celebrity emcee, Sunday, April 7th.

“We are so thrilled to have so many phenomenal theater programs participating in our first ever Master of the House competition,” said Cheryl Ruettiger, founder and executive director of the Rudy Foundation. “The competing schools are the perfect reflection of why Las Vegas is called the ‘entertainment capital of the world.’ Las Vegas youth have an infinite amount of talent and this event is the perfect showcase of just how extraordinary they are.”

United Way of Southern Nevada’s “Earn It Keep It Save It” Free Tax Preparation Preliminary Results Show More Than $8.3 Million Returned To Local Residents









UNITED WAY OF SOUTHERN NEVADA’S “EARN IT KEEP IT SAVE IT”  FREE TAX PREPARATION PRELIMINARY RESULTS SHOW MORE THAN $8.3 MILLION RETURNED TO LOCAL RESIDENTS

Nonprofit provided free tax services to Southern Nevada residents through “Earn It Keep It Save It” program

 

 United Way of Southern Nevada’s “Earn It Keep It Save It” collaborative announces preliminary results for the 2011-2012 tax season. This year, the collaborative provided its free services to 5,881 local individuals and families, and returned more than $8.3 million in tax refunds, including $4.5 million in tax credits.

From January through April 2012, “Earn It Keep It Save It” provided free tax preparation to those who earned less than $50,000 in 2011. Services were available at more than 35 VITA sites across the Las Vegas Valley as a result of an $84,000 IRS grant and matched funding from local partners. Taxes were prepared by IRS-certified volunteers who are specially-trained to identify low-income tax credits, such as Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), which many residents are unaware of or uncertain as to their eligibility.

Approximately 1,607 individuals and families received EITC returns, putting more than $2.5 million back into to the Southern Nevada community. Nationally, EITC is one of the largest antipoverty programs. Five million people, half of them children, are lifted out of poverty each year due to EITC.

“Earn It Keep It Save It” provides eligible families and individuals with free, quality tax return preparation and financial education. The project supports United Way’s financial stability Community-based Agenda, helping low-income families become fiscally stable and independent.
