Due to popular demand, one of the most successful and critically acclaimed rock bands of all time – Chicago – announced today it will return to The Venetian Theatre inside The Venetian® Resort Las Vegas in 2020 for the third year in a row for an eight-show limited engagementThe shows will be held on February 28 and 29 and March 4, 6, 7, 11, 13 and 14 at 8 p.m. 

 

Tickets start at $49.95, plus applicable fees, and will go on sale to the general public Friday, Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. PT. A limited number of VIP packages will also be available. Hailed as one of the “most important bands in music since the dawn of the rock and roll era” by former President Bill Clinton, the legendary rock and roll band with horns, Chicago, came in at #4, the highest charting American band in the chart’s history, in Billboard Magazine’s Top Bands And Duos. And Chicago is the first American rock band to chart Top 40 albums in six consecutive decades.
 
Chicago was inducted into the 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This was their first nomination. They’ve been eligible since 1994. A long time coming!
 
Chicago’s first album, Chicago Transit Authority, was inducted into the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame in 2014, and the band performed on the GRAMMY stage for the first time that year.
 
Robert Lamm and James Pankow have become inductees of the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017. These legendary songwriters wrote mega-hits such as, “25 or 6 to 4,” “Saturday In The Park,” “Feelin’ Stronger Every Day,” “Make Me Smile,” and many others. 
 
Chicago will celebrate the holidays this year with a new Christmas album, CHICAGO CHRISTMAS, that spotlights the legendary group’s trademark sound on eight original songs, two yuletide favorites and one timeless classic that embraces the spirit of hope.
 
On October 4, 2019, CHICAGO CHRISTMAS was released on CD and through digital and streaming services. In addition, a black vinyl version of the album will be released to general retail, with limited-edition red and white vinyl versions exclusively available at Rhino.com. All vinyl versions will be available on November 22.
 
Produced by founding member Lee Loughnane, CHICAGO CHRISTMAS is the 37th album of the band’s career and its fourth holiday collection. Whereas its previous releases focused more on traditional Christmas songs, the new record spotlights holiday music the band wrote especially for the album, including “All Over The World,” “(Because) It’s Christmastime,” and “I’m Your Santa Claus.” The album also features R&B and ballad versions of “Merry Christmas, I Love You,” a song that Loughnane wrote with John Durrill of The Ventures, the best-selling instrumental band of all time.
 
More than 40 years after its debut, Chicago II still sounds like nothing else. Released in 1970, Chicago’s second album brims with confidence and inspiration as it draws on everything from orchestral music to heavy rock. It spawned a trio of Top Ten hits, and the timeless classic has been remastered to reveal unprecedented clarity and definition. For the first time a new stereo remix, created by British musician and producer Steven Wilson from the 16-track multi-track tapes, made it possible to bring out elements that were muffled or submerged in the mix. The result is a new stereo version of Chicago II that boasts clearness, punch and definition that it didn’t have before.  It has been released by Rhino Records on CD and vinyl. Chicago II is being considered for the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame.
 
CHICAGO’s award-winning documentary film, Now More Than Ever: The History Of Chicago premiered on CNN on New Year’s Day and ranked No. 1 among adults 25-54. This is per “Nielsen Fast National Time Period Based Data” for 1/1/17 from 8 PM -10 PM. The documentary film was originally shown at the Sedona International Film Festival in February 2016, and won the Film Festival’s Best of Fest Audience Choice Award. The band opened the festival with back-to-back sold-out performances. 
 
Additionally, Now More Than Ever: The History of Chicago won three awards in April 2016, at the 10th Annual Fort Myers Beach Film Festival, taking home top prizes in the Documentary and Audience Award categories. Director Peter Pardini was awarded the festival’s Rising Star Award in direction and was on hand to accept all three awards. Earlier that month the documentary was the runner-up for Audience Award at the Sarasota Film Festival.
 
Chicago’s lifetime achievements include two GRAMMY Awards, two American Music Awards, Founding Artists of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a Chicago street dedicated in their honor, and keys to and proclamations from an impressive list of U.S. cities. Record sales top the 100,000,000 mark, and include 21 Top 10 singles, 5 consecutive Number One albums, 11 Number One singles and 5 Gold singles. An incredible 25 of their 36 albums have been certified platinum, and the band has a total of 47 gold and platinum awards. 
 
Chicago have toured every year since the beginning – they’ve never missed a year.  The original three band members are Robert Lamm on keyboards and vocals, Lee Loughnane on trumpet and vocals and James Pankow on trombone. The band line-up also includes Wally Reyes, Jr. on drums, Keith Howland on guitar and vocals, Lou Pardini on keyboards and vocals, Ray Herrmann on sax and flute, Neil Donell on vocals, Brett Simons on bass and Ramon “Ray” Yslas on percussion.
 
For five years, Chicago raised over a quarter of a million dollars to fight breast cancer for the American Cancer Society by having a winning bidder come on stage and sing “If You Leave Me Now” in concert.  Chicago generously support other charitable causes, donating a portion of ticket sales to Kelly Cares, established by Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly and his wife Paqui, to support local, national and global organizations that strive to improve their communities in the areas of health and education.  Portions of ticket sales also benefit the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation, which seeks a cure for a fatal children’s disease, Niemann-Pick Type C. Chicago manager Peter Schivarelli, who played football for Coach Parseghian, is on Notre Dame’s Board Of Directors for their Athletic Commission.  Chicago has also associated with Hannah & Friends, an organization that serves children and adults with special needs. Hannah & Friends is the personal mission of Maura Weis and her husband, Charlie Weis, the former coach at the University of Kansas.

Nick Cannon Appears at Sugar Factory Fashion Show to Announce Theatre Box®, a Collaboration of Sugar Factory American Brasserie, TCL Chinese Theatre and Wild ‘N Out Sports Bar and Arcade

 Nick Cannon, host of “Wild ‘N Out,” rapper, actor, comedian, entrepreneur, record producer, radio and television personality, appeared at Sugar Factory American Brasserie at the Fashion Show in Las Vegas on Sunday. While there, he talked with movie producer and owner of Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theatre Elie Samaha and Sugar Factory founder Charissa Davidovici about their upcoming collaboration on Theatre Box, opening in San Diego in spring 2018.

“Theatre Box is truly a one-of-a-kind 70,000 square-foot entertainment complex with eight luxury theatres and 700 seats combined, including San Diego’s first IMAX theatre,” said Samaha. “It will house the world’s largest retail confectionary store and the first TCL Chinese Theatre outside of Hollywood, and we’re looking forward to combining the signature services and experiences from each brand.”

In addition to the new features, Theatre Box will also include TCL Chinese Theatre’s iconic movie star handprints and footprints such as John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Tom Cruise, The Rock, Jack Nicholson, Paul Newman and Sophia Loren. There are also plans for a beer garden on the rooftop and star-studded LA movie premieres with much more to come.

Nick arrived to the red carpet wearing a red varsity jacket before heading into the candy store. Exclaiming his love for candy, Nick filled bags with tennis balls sour gumballs, gummy octopuses and fried eggs, watermelon fruit sours, cotton candy crunchers, psychedelic jawbreakers and Sugarpova gumball sporty mix.

He graciously stopped and posed for photos with fans and kids in the restaurant before heading upstairs to the Chocolate Lounge with a group of Wild ‘N Out girls. After taking photos and selfies on the whimsical carousel, the group sipped on the brand new Insane Campfire Spiked S’mores Coffee Milkshake, Frozen Chocolate Bacon S’mores, Frozen Chocolate Spiced Coffee, Mai Tai Goblet and White Gummy Goblet. Nick also enjoyed Drake’s specialty Night Owl goblets, made with Virginia Black Whiskey.

The group dined on dishes including club sandwich, bruschetta, chicken and waffles, bleu cheese bacon burger and salmon salad.

In honor of Autism Awareness Month (April), the world-renowned Blue Man Group unveils a yearlong partnership with Autism Speaks; the company pledges to give a $25,000 donation to the cause and will host at least one sensory-friendly show, suitable for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), in each of its markets.

 

Throughout the month of April, Blue Man Group will take collections after each performance to be donated to local Autism Speaks programs in the following cities – Boston, Chicago and New York City. In Las Vegas, where there is no local Autism Speaks chapter, monies raised will go to Grant a Gift Autism Foundation. In addition, each production will offer sensory-friendly shows on select dates throughout the year, with a percentage of proceeds benefitting the cause.

 

For the sensory-friendly shows, slight modifications will be made including reducing sound and light levels at various moments during the performance and making headphones available upon request. The Blue Men will limit the amount of “chair walking” and keep their approach to the audience more subdued. Blue Man Group will also create calming environments in each theater’s lobby for families seeking a break from the excitement.

 

“We’ve heard from many families affected by autism that their children responded to the Blue Man character in a very moving way. We don’t know the exact reason. We can only speculate that it has to do with the Blue Men communicating in their own unique way — non-verbally, through visuals, touch and sound. Their message often resonates on a deeper, more sincere level,” said Phil Stanton, Blue Man Group Co-Founder. “Once we knew that we could be helpful or provide an outlet for those affected by autism, we felt it was important to do more. With our sensory-friendly shows, we want to create a safe and welcoming environment for individuals and families affected by this disorder, in the hopes that they can have an entertaining and joyful experience together.”

 

The fastest growing developmental disorder in the U.S., ASD affects 1 in 68 children and 1 in 42 boys. Characteristics include social challenges, communication difficulties and repetitive behaviors. The Wiener’s Circle, Chicago’s famed hot dog stand, will open in Las Vegas this summer with locations at Red Rock Resort and Santa Fe Station Hotel & Casino. Offering authentic Chicago-style char-grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, fresh-cut fries and milkshakes, the 31 year-old landmark boasts famous fans including Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney and Rachael Ray and has been featured on the Travel Channel and Food Network’s “The Best Thing I Ever Ate.”The Wiener’s Circle moniker was selected by founders and horse racing fanatics Larry Gold and Barry Nemerow as a play on that sport’s designation for each race’s top thoroughbreds, and they have spent the last three decades delivering quality fare at reasonable prices. 2. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approves the first breast ultrasound specifically designed for dense breast tissue. Dense breast tissue can increase breast cancer risk, and can make it difficult to identify small breast cancers once they occur (40% of women who undergo screening mammograms have dense breasts).

3. Computerized cognitive training that may be able to improve “chemo brain,” a term that refers to the cognitive problems women suffer during and after cancer treatment. This form of therapy may help to improve memory and mental health. (Clinical study published in Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

4. Evidence that higher levels of vitamin D may improve survival in patients with breast cancer. (2012 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium)

5. Preoperative chemotherapy and radiation therapy double overall survival for esophageal and gastroesophageal junction cancers. Researchers report that preoperative treatment with chemotherapy and radiation therapy resulted in significant benefits: 29% of patients experienced complete remission of their cancer; median overall survival was longer (49 months versus 24 months), and the death rate was 35% lower in patients who underwent preoperative treatment compared with those who had surgery alone. (Clinical study published in The New England Journal of Medicine)

6. The identification of four distinct genetic types of breast cancer, which could accelerate the search for better treatments for each of these subtypes of breast cancer, instead of the “one size fits all” approach to cancer treatment. (Research from the Cancer Genome Atlas, part of the National Institutes of Health)

7. A new vaccine has been tested for advanced kidney cancer, and early results suggest that this vaccine may increase survival. (Developed by Dr. Howard Kaufman, formerly at Columbia University and now at Mount Sinai University)

8. Two new cancer drugs, ziv-aflibercept (Zaltrap) and regorafenib (Stivarga), were approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. These new “targeted” cancer drugs offer patients with advanced colorectal cancer important new treatment options.

9. A new “smart bra” has shown to be more than 90% accurate at detecting breast abnormalities using sensors to detect small changes in breast tissue temperature over time, based upon preliminary research data. In three clinical trials involving a total of 650 women, the bra was able to detect the presence of breast tumors as many as six years before conventional breast imaging would have. (Developed and being tested by Nevada company, First Warning Systems. At this time, this device is not yet approved for sale in the United States, and additional research will need to be carried out before the findings of preliminary studies can be validated.)

10. The Baylor College of Medicine, Australian Pancreatic Center Genome Initiative, and the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research Pancreatic Cancer Genome Study recently carried out detailed genetic studies on 99 pancreatic cancer tumors, and identified almost 2,000 specific gene mutations associated with this deadly form of cancer. This detailed genetic information may lead to important new discoveries related to both the prevention and treatment of pancreatic cancer.
