Artist Info: Billy Idol was an early architect of the sound, style and fury of punk rock. His lip- curling sneer and fist-pumping persona vaulted him into the mainstream as one of MTV’s first megastars, making him one of the most recognizable faces in pop music, while selling out arenas everywhere he played. He has sold 40 million albums while scoring numerous platinum albums worldwide, nine top 40 singles in the U.S. and 10 in the U.K. including “Dancing With Myself,” “White Wedding,” “Rebel Yell,” “Mony Mony,” “Eyes Without A Face,” “Flesh For Fantasy” and “Cradle Of Love.”

Idol was responsible for some of punk rock’s most memorable, literate and evocative moments, and created a pioneering new sound by bringing the spirit of ’77 to the dance floor, going on to fashion an immediately identifiable musical blueprint that integrates club-land throb, rockabilly desperation and rock ’n’ roll decadence.

More than 30 years after his groundbreaking Vital Idol compilation cemented the vibrancy of the dance-rock remix genre in the second half of the 1980s, Idol’s Revitalized collection, Vital Idol: Revitalized, features 11 brand-new remixes of Idol’s most classic and enduring hits. Lending their hands to the Revitalized proceedings are electronic dance luminaries Moby, The Crystal Method and Paul Oakenfold as well as current innovators including RAC, Tropkillaz, Shiba San, Juan Maclean and CRAY.

Idol also hosts an exclusive SiriusXM show, Billy Idol’s Live Transmission, that can be heard on SiriusXM’s 1st Wave, channel 33.For all Billy Idol information, visit BillyIdol.net.

RED ROCK RESORT

Chase Rice
Venue: Sandbar Poolside Stage
Genre: Country
Date: Friday, Oct. 25, 2019 at 7 p.m.
Ticket Prices: $20 plus tax and applicable fees for standing room only and $50 plus tax and applicable fees for VIP standing near the stage
Artist Info: Rice released his ten-song album Lambs & Lions late last year with new label partner BBR Music Group/ BMG—the follow-up to 2014’s Ignite the Night, which hit No. 1 on the country charts and reached the top five of the all-genre Billboard 200—but with Lambs & Lions, he is making a fresh start. With a new label and a renewed sense of creative purpose, he is making music that draws from multiple sources and influences, but is unified by his vision, integrity, and honesty.

The 10 songs on Lambs & Lions derive from Rice’s life and experience, triumphs and disappointments, and ultimately his determination to stand up for his convictions. Produced by Chris DeStefano, Mac MacAnally and, most surprisingly, Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Cold War Kids), Lambs & Lions offers up sounds from the unsettling strings and horns on the title track to the spare piano and swelling choir of “Amen.” And if it took him walking out on his record company and finding a new home to get there, it also reflects the unconventional path that led him to make music in the first place.

Academy of Country Music Reveals Plans for The Week Vegas Goes Country

ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC® REVEALS PLANS FOR
“THE WEEK VEGAS GOES COUNTRY®” 2017
INCLUDING 5TH ANNUAL ACM PARTY FOR A CAUSE® FESTIVITIES

SERIES OF INDUSTRY AND FAN EVENTS TO TAKE OVER LAS VEGAS
MARCH 30 – APRIL 2, 2017 SURROUNDING THE 52ND ACM AWARDS®

The Academy of Country Music announced today a return to the organization’s origins in developing The Week Vegas Goes Country® years ago, with an onslaught of events taking over Las Vegas – including a return and expansion of the 5th Annual ACM Party for a Cause® — in conjunction with the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards™, Country Music’s Party of the Year®, which will broadcast LIVE for the first time ever from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 8:00 PM ET/delayed PT on the CBS Television Network.

This year, ACM Party for a Cause will consist of industry and fan events located at different venues across Las Vegas including a new host hotel, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and several others from Thursday, March 30 – Sunday, April 2, 2017 in Las Vegas, NV. Each of the festivities will feature performances by some of the biggest names and hottest new talent in country music including Kelsea Ballerini, Billy Currington, Ryan Follese, Lady Antebellum, LOCASH, Kip Moore, Jake Owen, Chris Stapleton, Michael Tyler, Clay Walker, Brett Young and many others. Festivities will also include interactive ACM fan experiences, which will be announced in the coming weeks. All events will benefit ACM Lifting Lives, the charitable arm of the Academy, which works to lift lives through the power of music.

“Fourteen years ago, when the Academy moved the Awards to Las Vegas, we kicked off a decade of wide-ranging special events for fans including a motorcycle ride through Las Vegas and the surrounding area, a golf tournament at a prestigious club, concerts on Fremont Street, games and a country lifestyle marketplace and loads of live country music performances. That’s how The Week Vegas Goes Country® earned its moniker.  This year, we’re going back to our roots with the evolution of ACM Party for a Cause events taking place throughout Las Vegas, all benefiting ACM Lifting Lives and the good work of the many worthy organizations Lifting Lives supports through grants and more,” said Ed Warm, Chairman of ACM Lifting Lives and Co-Chairman of the ACM Events Committee. “It feels good to align all of our auxiliary events surrounding the ACM Awards with a philanthropic purpose the fans have always embraced.”

“ACM fans have demanded more events, more artist engagement, more variety,” said George Couri, Co-Chairman of the ACM Events Committee. “Some of our fans clearly like the more intimate environments compared to the big festivals, so this year we will give them that version celebrating more artists up close and in their faces. From songwriter rounds to fun party nights out, with this schedule there will be plenty for fans to dive into all day every day.”

The combination of the duo’s humor and eclectic folk pop rock sound sealed the group’s fate as its popularity continued to grow into the early 1990s. The group grew into a true band with the addition of Jim Creegan (bass/vocals), Tyler Stewart (drums/vocals) and Andy Creegan (keyboards) and went on to release Yellow Tape, Canada’s first independently-released tape to reach platinum status. Shortly after, Barenaked Ladies signed with Sire/Reprise Records in 1992 and released its debut studio album Gordon featuring hits such as “Be My Yoko Ono,” “Brian Wilson” and “If I Had a $1,000,000.” Before the release of the band’s third album, Kevin Hearn (keyboard/guitar/vocals) replaced Andy Creegan, who left the group to finish college abroad. Over the next decade, the group released six more albums, toured around the globe and started its own label, Desperation Records. In 2009, Page announced his departure from the band. The now quartet decided to form a new label, Raisin’ Records, and released All in Good Time, the band’s first album since Page’s departure. Father John Misty with special guest Mikal Cronin
Thursday, Oct. 15
9 p.m.; Doors at 8 p.m.
Tickets: $23 GA

Before adopting the pseudonym Father John Misty, singer and songwriter J. Tillman first made a name for himself playing drums in a pair of indie rock bands, Saxon Shore and Stately, while attending college in New York City. At that time, he began writing material of his own, citing the music of Nick Drake and Pete Seeger, and the writings of Flannery O’Connor, as key influences. During tours with Damien Jurado, Tilman produced a few CD-R albums and created a ready audience for his home-burned discs. In 2006, the independent Fargo Records label released Tillman’s first properly distributed solo album, Minor Works, and Keep Records reissued I Will Return/Long May You Run as a two-disc set the same year. In 2007, Yer Bird Records released Tillman’s fourth, more elaborately arranged album, Cancer and Delirium. Brian Wilson with special guest Rodriguez
Friday, July 10
8 p.m.; Doors at 7 p.m.
Tickets: $50 GA; Reserved prices starting at $70

Considered one of the greatest composers of the rock era, Brian Wilson got an early start when he formed The Beach Boys in 1961 with his two younger brothers Dennis and Carl, cousin Mike Love and childhood friend Alan Jardine. Heavily influenced by the harmonic blend of Four Freshman and the rock rhythms of Chuck Berry, Wilson went on to write a number of the group’s top hits including “Surfer Girl,” “In My Room,” “I Get Around,” “Don’t Worry Baby,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “Help Me Rhonda” and “California Girls.” After 1967, Wilson relinquished much of his control of the group to his brother Carl in order to focus on other projects. In 1988, Wilson released his first solo album featuring the hit single “Love And Mercy,” a song that often serves as a closing performance for his concerts. Following the release, Wilson continued to write and record music as a solo act as well as a member of The Beach Boys. By 2012, Wilson had officially reunited with the group in time to release That’s Why God Made The Radio, the group’s first album with Wilson in over 15 years. In 2014, Wilson began to tour and record as a solo artist again, with songs he had originally written for The Beach Boys. His latest solo album No Pier Pressure is set to release in April 2015 and features a number of guest stars from a variety of genres.

Known only by his surname, legendary singer-songwriter and self-taught guitarist Rodriguez began performing in bars and clubs around Detroit in the 1960s as the city suffered post-industrial urban decay. It was there that he recorded two studio albums, Cold Fact in 1969 and Coming from Reality in 1971. In the mid-1970s, his music gained airplay in Australia and New Zealand where he became an overseas performer. Rodriguez was unaware that he had reached legendary folk-rock super stardom status in South Africa, where mistaken rumors circulated that he had perished. In fact, South African anti-Apartheid activists and musicians alike were profoundly inspired by his counterculture lyrics. In the late 1990s, South African fans finally sought him out, leading to the unanticipated renaissance of his music career. His story is told in the 2012 Oscar award-winning documentary, “Searching for Sugar Man,” which has given Rodriguez a new measure of fame in the U.S. and throughout the world.
