Background Info About The Wright Amendment
The Wright Amendment ended on Monday, October 13, 2014 after 35 years of not allowing Southwest to fly outside the surrounding states of Texas from Dallas.  The Wright Amendment was put into place in 1979 to really protect the other large airport in North Texas (DFW). Prior to 1979, Southwest only flew within Texas, expanding in 1979 by flying to its first non-Texas city- New Orleans.  Instead Southwest thrived and carries more than 100 million people annually, and now Dallas will have nonstop flights to 15 new cities in addition to the 16 it already serves. The new flights include destinations like Las Vegas, Chicago, and Denver just to name a few.  Las Vegas is one of the first cities.  Las Vegas is one of Southwest Airlines busiest airports, average just over 200 daily departures to 58 cities. Las Vegas Strip Headliners Come Together for One Special Performance for NF Hope

Frankie Moreno, Human Nature, Cast members from ABSINTHE, JERSEY BOYS & more perform at Third Annual NF Hope Concert Oct. 20 at The Venetian

On Sunday, Oct. 20, The Strip’s most engaging headliners will shine their star power on the fight against Neurofibromatosis at the Third Annual NF Hope Concert.   Performers from across The Strip’s stages will come together at The Venetian Showroom for a one-day-only performance benefitting the NF Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to families and individuals with neurofibromatosis, more commonly known as NF. A portion of the proceeds will also go to the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation (NVCCF) in their support of local families touched by NF. The Third Annual NF Hope Concert will feature performances by some of the biggest names in Las Vegas as well as an impressive silent auction. Tickets are on sale now and prices start at $45. They are available by calling any Venetian/Palazzo box office at 702-414-9000, or online at www.Venetian.com.

The star-studded concert will include performances by Frankie Moreno, Human Nature, Clint Holmes and Kelly Clinton, ABSINTHE’s “Green Fairy” Melody Sweets, cast members from JERSEY BOYS, ROCK OF AGES, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET and many more.  Joey Dowling from FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance” will present a piece created for the Troupe, a local dance competition team.  There will also be special performances by two talented performers living with NF.  This year’s silent auction items include tickets to Celine Dion, Shania Twain, JERSEY BOYS, ROCK OF AGES, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, show memorabilia, restaurant certificates, spa certificates and much more.

The concert, produced by JERSEY BOYS star Jeff Leibow with Neil Miller and Pat Caddick as consulting producers from The Chimaera Group, is inspired by Leibow’s daughter Emma, who was diagnosed with NF at the age of nine months. NF is a genetic disorder of the nervous system that results in a mutation on a gene that normally suppresses tumor growth. This allows for tumors to grow on any nerve in the body without warning. Leibow and his wife Melody conceived the idea for the concert upon the realization that they had an obligation to their family and the 100,000 people living with NF to educate more people about the disorder.

“Despite all our prayers and wishes that Emma might stay untouched by this disorder, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor in January.  It is a horrible, frightening thing to hear about your child, but our fears have only fueled our wish to do everything we can to make a difference in the fight against NF,” said Leibow.

NF is one of the most common genetic disorders and affects more than 100,000 Americans, making it more common than cystic fibrosis, hereditary muscular dystrophy, Huntington’s disease and Tay Sachs combined. Despite its commonality, the disorder struggles to get federal support every year.

“Since 1996, advocacy has provided most of the research money for neurofibromatosis, and we are doing everything we can to keep that going.  Since its inception in 2011, NF Hope has raised nearly $50,000 for NF Network, a national non-profit dedicated to helping individuals with neurofibromatosis.  It is still our dream to see NF Hope become a national organization producing concerts all over the US.  For now we are focused on continuing to make this concert a staple in Las Vegas with the hope of making a difference in Emma’s life and the lives of the more than 100,000 people living with NF in the US alone,” Leibow added.

The Third Annual NF Hope Concert will take place on Sunday, Oct. 20 at the Sands Showroom at The Venetian Las Vegas. The show begins at 1 p.m., and the lobby will open at 11:45 a.m. for the silent auction.  Ticket prices range from $45 – $60 plus tax and service charges. To purchase tickets, call the Venetian/Palazzo Box Office at 702-414-9000 or visit www.Venetian.com.

Last night (Oct. 1, 2013), Stratosphere headliner Frankie Moreno joined the cast of the smash-hit musical MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET at Harrah’s Las Vegas for a special guest encore appearance, performing the Jerry Lee Lewis hit,“Rockin’ My Life Away.

One of the highlights of the performance included a moment where Moreno and Martin Kaye (Jerry Lee Lewis) engaged in “piano four hands,” where each was playing simultaneously.

Named “Headliner of the Year in Las Vegas,” Moreno is a classically trained musician and entertainer, making him a natural fit to add to the line-up of Strip headliners who have joined MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET to celebrate the music of the production’s era through live jam sessions.  Previous entertainers that have graced the stage with the cast include Bally’s Las Vegas headliner and one-woman vocal phenomenon, Véronic DiCaire, and “American Idol” winner Taylor Hicks.

PIN UP™ to Open March 2, 2013

Pull out your calendar and circle March 2.

Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower’s new original show PIN UP™, inspired by classic pin up girl calendars and starring PLAYBOY’s 2011 Playmate of the Year® and Bettie Page Clothing model Claire Sinclair, will now debut in the Stratosphere Theater on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 10:30 p.m.

PIN UP™ was previously announced to open Monday, February 25, 2013.

“Arrival of a new state-of-the-art lighting system designed specifically for PIN UP™ was delayed due to inclement weather,” said Matt Mascali, Vice President of Entertainment at Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower. “We owe it to our performers to make sure every component of the show matches the enormous talent on stage.”

Featuring an impressive cast of dancers, singers and a live six-piece band with a horn section led by acclaimed trumpeter, conductor and composer Dave Perrico, PIN UP™ is a fast-paced, swingin’ production that will transport audiences to a modern version of a vintage era where red lips, corsets and garter stockings grace the most beautiful of women.

Famous for her curvy figure and sumptuous smile, Sinclair won worldwide fame on the pages of the iconic PLAYBOY® magazine, first as Miss October in 2010 and later as PLAYBOY’s 2011 Playmate of the Year®. She has been featured on E!’s hit reality television shows The Bunny House and Holly’s World, and was a special guest performer for Crazy Horse Paris in 2010 and 2011. Sinclair also starred in a commercial for Bettie Page Clothing as well as made numerous appearances across the country on the clothing company’s behalf.

Critically acclaimed Stratosphere headliner Frankie Moreno is co-producer of the new show, created the concept and scored a high-energy collection of swingin’ music for PIN UP™, which includes his contemporary twist on nostalgic covers plus several new originals. Moreno was named “Best All-Around Performer” by the Las Vegas Review Journal’s Best of Las Vegas in 2012, and “Best Strip Headliner” by Las Vegas Weekly. Moreno recently wowed the nation with his stellar performance on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars.

Lacey Schwimmer of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars fame choreographed the dance sequences featuring a wide variety of dance styles weaved through the production’s month-by-month vignettes, taking the audience on a visual and emotional journey of the calendar year. The show will feature four gorgeous female dancers and one talented male dancer.

PIN UP™ show time will be at 10:30 p.m., five nights a week, Thursday through Monday. Tickets are $49.99 plus taxes, $10 more for VIP seats. Guests must be 21 or older to attend the show.
