Going to a beach wedding this summer, or always wanted to have your wedding at the beach? Redken Artist Jackie Litscher shows us how to get beachy waves yourself, or what to tell your stylist you want, below!

“My beachy, bridal inspiration for this look was a chic, effortless look that also has a classiness behind it. This look will last all day and night, and you can really make it your own by adding in a hair piece like I did here, twisting your hair into a knot at the back of your head, or leaving all your hair down with the loose waves. The hair piece really adds a fun element to the look – it’s the perfect addition to have an effortless look with a twist, an accessory you wouldn’t normally wear.” – Redken Artist Jackie Litscher.

 

GET THE LOOK:

  • Prep dry hair with a few spritzes of Redken Iron Shape 11 throughout your lengths and ends for heat protection and a touch of hold.
  • Comb out 1” sections of your hair with a fine-tooth comb, then use a 1” curling iron on each section moving away from your face.
  • Allow all of the areas to cool.
  • Using a crimping iron, crimp the under layers at the back of your head for added root volume. If you don’t have a crimping iron, simply backcomb these sections with a fine-toothed comb.
  • Starting on one side of your head, take the face-framing sections of your hair in the front (about ¼ of your total hair’s thickness) and separate into two sections.
  • Twist these sections around each other, then secure in the back with bobby pins. Repeat on the other side of your head.
  • Using your fingers, allow your face-framing baby hairs to peek out on either side to soften the look and add to its effortless vibe.
  • Spray a few spritzes of Redken Control Addict 28 all over the look for hold and humidity protection.
  • If desired, secure a glitzy barrette in the back to add a bit of extra polish.

Hairdressers know that hunger is shear madness! To support Hunger Awareness Month, Redken 5th Avenue NYC teamed up with essie to host the Trim Hunger Cut-A-Thon at the Redken Exchange on Thursday, September 10, benefitting City Harvest, the world’s first food rescue organization dedicated to helping feed the nearly 1.4 million New Yorkers facing hunger.

 

The event raised a grand total of $16,310 for City Harvest in just 5.5 hours – that’s almost $3,000 per hour! A team of 65 volunteers and top Redken stylists gave haircuts, blowouts and braids to 90 guests from Manhattan to Milwaukee, while essie, also a sponsor of the event, gave guests “orange thumbie” manicures in their Roarrrrange shade as a symbol of support in the fight against hunger.

 

Trim Hunger is the most recent non-profit endeavor of Redken stylist Josif Wittnik, owner of Salon CTI and Day Spa and The Salon Professional Academy in Appleton, Wisc. Following a local project to help feed families in need in his community, Josif developed Trim Hunger to raise awareness for the cause and feed the hungry on a national level.

In recognition of Hunger Awareness Month, Redken 5th Avenue NYC will host the Trim Hunger Cut-A-Thon at the Redken Exchange on Thursday, September 10 from 10 AM – 3:30 PM to benefit City Harvest, the world’s first food rescue organization dedicated to helping feed the nearly 1.4 million New Yorkers facing hunger.

 

Trim Hunger is the most recent non-profit endeavor of Redken stylist Josif Wittnik, owner of Salon CTI and Day Spa and The Salon Professional Academy in Appleton, Wisc. Following a local project to help feed families in need in his community, Josif developed Trim Hunger to raise awareness for the cause and feed the hungry on a national level.

 

“Hunger is a cause that my wife and I have always supported from a global standpoint, but I was really inspired to take more action after I worked with a family in my community that was unable to put food on the table following an unexpected medical incident that left them with many bills to pay,” says Wittnik. “That’s when I realized that hunger is more than what we see on TV. There are families in our local communities who don’t know where their next meal will come from, and in New York especially, we have an opportunity to make an impact on so many lives. Thanks to the support from Redken and City Harvest, the Trim Hunger Cut-A-Thon brings community members together to work toward one common goal: to raise awareness and money for hunger.”

 

Top Redken stylists will be giving haircuts, blow-outs and braids for a minimum donation of $25. Essie, also a sponsor of the event, will be offering “orange thumbie” manicures in their Roarrrrange shade as a symbol of support in the fight against hunger.

 

“It costs City Harvest just 25 cents to rescue and deliver one pound of food in New York City, and with more than 1.7 million New Yorkers struggling to afford food for themselves and their families, a little bit goes a long way,” says Leslie Marino, General Manager, Redken US.  “Redken’s Trim Hunger Cut-A-Thon will bring together both stylists and members of the community to help make an immediate impact on the fight against hunger in New York City.”
