Therapy restaurant, located in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas at 518 E. Fremont St., has been acquired by budding entrepreneur, Chris Morganelli, who will assume operations on Wednesday, Dec. 19.

 

Current owners of Therapy, The Sig Rogich Family and Jared Weiss of Motion Corp Real Estate, opened the American gastro-style pub in June of 2015. Since opening, Therapy has received national recognition for its one-of-a-kind dishes and unique libations, including the red velvet chicken waffle sliders and signature Therapy Smoke Wagon Whiskey, from the Travel Channel, USA Today, The Daily Meal and others.

UNLV INCOMING RECRUIT MICHAELA MORRIS NAMED GATORADE NEVADA GIRLS SOCCER PLAYER OF THE YEAR

 Incoming UNLV women’s soccer recruit Michaela Morris has been named the 2014-15 Gatorade Nevada Girls Soccer Player of the Year, The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with USA TODAY High School Sports, announced on Thursday. Gatorade is in its 30th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, and Morris becomes the second honoree from Nevada to join the current Rebel squad, as rising junior Nicole Westover was the 2012-13 selection from Nevada.

Morris is the first player from Coronado High School to be chosen as Gatorade Nevada Girls Soccer Player of the Year, and she is now a finalist for the Gatorade National Player of the Year, which will be announced in May. The award recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field.

The 5-foot-6 senior forward scored 45 goals and passed for 18 assists this past season, leading the Cougars (16-8) to the Division I state championship game. Also the Southeast League Player of the Year, Morris battled back from a quadriceps injury to score the game-winning goal in overtime against Palo Verde High in the state semifinals. A three-time All-Southern Nevada selection and a member of the U.S. Youth Soccer Region IV Olympic Development Program team, she concluded her prep soccer career with 89 goals and 37 assists.

She has excelled in the classroom as well, maintaining a 4.6 weighted GPA in the classroom. A candidate for valedictorian of the Coronado High senior class, she has volunteered locally at the Saint Therese Center HIV Outreach Catholic ministry and has also donated her time to Make it Personal Love Bags, gifting wellness items to homeless people.

“Michaela was an extremely valuable player to that team,” said Frank Messina, head coach of Palo Verde High. “The fact that she went down with an injury during the tail end of the state semifinals and then came back in to score the game-winning goal against us is impressive.”

The Gatorade Player of the Year program annually recognizes one winner in the District of Columbia and each of the 50 states that sanction high school football, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, baseball, softball, and boys and girls track & field, and awards one National Player of the Year in each sport. PANDA!, the first-ever Chinese produced show to take up a Las Vegas residency, celebrated its 100th show Tuesday, May 6, at The Palazzo® Las Vegas. Audience members who packed the house at The Palazzo Theatre were invited to sign their names on a commemorative banner on their way into the show. John Caparella, president and chief operating officer of The Venetian, The Palazzo, and Sands Expo, and Elizabeth Hansen, director of Asian leisure sales and marketing, were on hand to present the creative principals and cast with a specially designed cake from The Venetian and The Palazzo’s pastry team in honor of the 100th performance.

·       Condé Nast Traveler placed New Orleans on its highly coveted Top 10 Cities in the United States Readers’ Choice Awards, receiving the highest marks for culture, atmosphere and restaurants. The menu provides guests with two different dining options, the first, which is only available at lunch, is priced at only $20.11 and features three courses.  Guests can start with the appetizer course and choose from T&T’s homemade guacamole, a chopped or Caesar salad or tortilla soup.  The second course features T&T’s popular new summer menu items; featuring a choice of a half torta sandwich (chicken, carnitas or carne asada), the Sonoran hotdog, a delicious hotdog wrapped in smoked bacon and topped with beans, pico de gallo, onions and jalapeños or the matador burger, cooked to order and topped with a three-cheese blend of Oaxaca, Jack, and Gouda cheeses, caramelized onions and mushrooms, lettuce, pico de gallo and finished with homemade guacamole.  For dessert, T&T will offer guests the choice of its tres leches cake, flan or morenita chocolate brownie.

Patrons can also partake in menu number two, available for lunch and dinner, priced at $30.11 and also features three courses.  For the first and appetizer course, Restaurant Week diners can choose from T&T’s tasty quesadilla, floutas, or a chopped or Caesar salad.  The main course features four different dining combinations.  Combination one includes pork carnitas, a chicken tamale and a cheese enchilada.  Combination number two includes one chicken tamale, one shaved pork taco and one beef enchilada.  The third combination includes T&T’s mouthwatering tacos, with one chicken, one carne asada and one carnitas.  The fourth and final main course combination features a veggies quesadilla, chile relleno and roasted corn. Lastly the dessert course, tres leches cake, the morenita chocolate brownie and the newest addition to the menu the chocolate quesadilla, filled with Nutella hazelnut spread and sliced bananas.

Now in its fifth year, Las Vegas Restaurant Week gives restaurants in our community the opportunity to give back through the culinary arts. What began in 2007 as the vision of MGM Grand food and beverage executives David McIntyre and Scott Hamilton as a way to raise funds and awareness about Three Square Food Bank has now become one of the most anticipated weeks of the year. VIVA MÉXICO! Tacos & Tequila (T&T) at Luxor Hotel and Casino will celebrate Mexican Independence Day with a three day bash from Friday, September 16 through Sunday, September 18.

There’s no better way to celebrate Mexico’s freedom than with a weekend of spicy south-of-the-border food and drink specials. On Friday, T&T will kick off the party with $5 fiesta nachos, habanero wings, chicken quesadilla, flautas and guacamole.  Patrons can also partake in $5 Jose Cuervo shots and Dos Equis Lager, in addition to $5 well drinks, house red and white wine and sangria while T&T’s sexy resident DJ, Mika Gold, will keep the party going with an energetic set on the turntables. Guests can finish off their weekend with Mariachi brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The menu offers generous brunch selections to appease any appetite, including chilaquiles, T&T’s signature breakfast burrito and huevos rancheros. Guests may complement their Mexican feast with a two-for-one Bloody Marias and two-for-one top shelf margaritas.

In addition to the delicious brunch menu and mouth-watering cocktail selection, T&T’s house Mariachi band, “The Kings of Cuervo” will serenade guests in true mariachi style with everything from “Save the Last Dance for Me” by The Drifters to “I Got a Feeling” by The Black Eyed Peas.

Tacos & Tequila (T&T) at the Luxor Hotel and Casino will introduce five new menu items just in time for summer, guaranteed to amuse and delight the taste buds.

T&T will introduce to its already delicious menu, three tasty torta sandwiches; the carnitas torta, carne asada torta and the chicken tinga torta. All three are served on fresh, baked-to-perfection bolillo bread and are topped with shredded lettuce, house-made pico de gallo, jalapeño aioli, guacamole and a spicy black bean puree, served with fresh baked potato chips. Guests can enjoy the sandwiches with a Mexican twist for $13 or for the same price, pair a half sandwich with soup or salad. Also making its debut on the menu are the Sonoran hotdog and a perfectly grilled hamburger, prepared only as T&T knows how. The Sonoran hotdog is served on bolillo bread, wrapped in bacon and topped with beans, pico de gallo, onions and jalapeños. The Mexican hamburger is cooked to order and topped with a three-cheese blend of Oaxaca, Jack, and Gouda cheeses, caramelized onions and mushrooms, lettuce, pico de gallo and finished with homemade guacamole.
