The celebration of Diamond’s career will include performances from an impressive list of contemporary artists to be announced at a later date. “We’re honored to have the legendary Neil Diamond join us to celebrate his remarkable and wildly successful career and to bring awareness to the devastating diseases the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health researches and treats, including Parkinson’s,” said Keep Memory Alive Vice-Chairwoman and Co-Founder Camille Ruvo. “Nearly one million Americans suffer from Parkinson’s and the funds raised at the Power of Love® gala are critical in allowing us to provide these patients and those living with other neurological disorders with top-level care and their families with valuable caregiving resources.”

Throughout his illustrious and wide-ranging musical career as a singer, songwriter and performer, Diamond has had 38 Top 40 singles and sold over 130 million records worldwide. Robin Leach Honored with Street Dedication

Keep Memory Alive and City of Las Vegas to Honor
Robin Leach with Street Dedication
Las Vegas notables join ceremony celebrating longtime friend of Keep Memory Alive and supporter of Cleveland

Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health to kick off
Power of Love® gala festivities

A portion of Clark Avenue that runs past Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health will be renamed to Robin Leach Lane to honor the life and legacy of the veteran journalist, television personality, Las Vegas enthusiast and longtime supporter of Keep Memory Alive, the fundraising entity for the center.

A dear friend of Camille and Larry Ruvo, co-founders and chairpersons of Keep Memory Alive, Leach attended the original Keep Memory Alive fundraising dinner more than 20 years ago at Spago, helping it to evolve into the now signature Las Vegas philanthropic event, the annual Power of Love® gala.

Leach is survived by his three sons who issued a statement about the street dedication saying, “The beautiful show of community love with this everlasting memorial of Robin Leach Lane means so much to the Leach family. Robin is looking down with humility and raising a glass of champagne in appreciation of this honored dedication. He couldn’t have hand picked a finer location for his namesake lane. As a play on one of the famous Beatles’ songs, ‘Robin Leach Lane is in my ears and in my eyes and all the people that come and go stop and say hello.’ Thank you to everyone who made this special tribute possible. Much love from the Leach family.”

An avid advocate for Keep Memory Alive, Leach donated his time, talent and iconic voice to support its mission to fund the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, which offers research, care and resources for patients and their caregivers in the fight against cognitive diseases, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, multiple system atrophy, frontotemporal dementia and related disorders, multiple sclerosis and more.

“Robin was truly one-of-a-kind and we are forever grateful for his support of Keep Memory Alive and the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health,” said Mr. Ruvo. “It is an honor to dedicate a piece of Las Vegas’ burgeoning downtown to Robin and his continuing legacy within the community and beyond.”

Notable Las Vegas residents will join Camille and Larry Ruvo, Mayor Carolyn Goodman and Ward 5 Councilman Cedric Crear for a dedication ceremony on Friday, March 15 at 4 p.m. Guests in attendance to include President and Chief Executive Officer of The Smith Center for the Performing Arts Myron Martin, as well as colleague and close friend of Leach, John Katsilometes, who will emcee the festivities. The celebration takes place the evening before the 23rd annual Power of Love® gala – an event Leach voiced for more than two decades.

“Robin Leach will always be remembered, not only for his larger than life public persona and coverage of our never-ending entertainment and dining options, but also for what he quietly did for our community,” said Mayor Goodman. “The city of Las Vegas and the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health are indebted to Robin for his fun-loving spirit and generous efforts.”

“It is appropriate that the street that connects the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and The Smith Center be named for a man who was a great supporter of both institutions,” said Martin. “We miss him dearly.”

Top Talent Honor Lionel Richie at 23rd Power of Love Gala Benefiting Keep Memory Alive

Top Talent to Honor Lionel Richie with Performances at Keep Memory Alive’s 23rd Annual Power of Love® Gala

Spectacular Night of Philanthropy to Benefit Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health

Keep Memory Alive announces a star-studded line up of performers set to honor international superstar Lionel Richie at the 23rd annual Power of Love® gala on Saturday, March 16 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The one-of-a-kind celebration of life and signature Las Vegas event raises crucial funds for Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.

Paying tribute to Richie and generously lending their time and talents to Keep Memory Alive’s largest fundraising event of the year is multi-Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, actor and judge on NBC’s dance competition show “World of Dance” NE-YO; Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter and Billboard chart topper Miguel; multi-Grammy award nominee and seven-time Brit Award nominee, singer-songwriter and actress Leona Lewis; New York Yankee great turned jazz guitarist and Latin Grammy award nominee Bernie Williams; multiple award-winning singer-songwriter, actor, director, activist and star of FOX’s “Empire” Jussie Smollett; and American keyboardist, singer-songwriter and musical director Greg Phillinganes.

The Power of Love® gala is a critical platform for fundraising and generates the majority of annual revenue needed to provide service, care and resources for patients and their caregivers in the fight against neurocognitive diseases including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, multiple system atrophy, frontotemporal dementia and related disorders, multiple sclerosis and more.

“Brain disease does not belong to the patients alone, but their entire families. A caregiver’s job is 24/7, 365 days a year,” said Camille Ruvo, Keep Memory Alive vice-chairwoman. “We are honored to welcome these incredible artists to the lineup for this year’s Power of Love® gala, which allows us to fund the remarkable work being done at Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.”

In addition to celebrating the iconic music of Richie, the evening will honor Lonnie Ali, wife and caregiver of the late Muhammad Ali, with the Keep Memory Alive Caregiver Hero Award. The award pays tribute to those who have gone above and beyond to care for those who are unable to care for themselves and Ali’s grace and selflessness make her a true caregiving hero.

Longtime Keep Memory Alive supporter and celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck will be joined by James Beard Foundation seven-time award-winner Daniel Humm of Eleven Madison Park, The NoMad (in New York, Los Angeles and the recently opened Las Vegas outpost) and Davies and Brook, his forthcoming restaurant at Claridge’s in London, to prepare culinary creations for the evening. Guests will dine, drink and donate with an exceptional silent auction, crafted cocktails, exquisite fare and top entertainment.

“Without the success of the Power of Love® gala, Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health would not be able to provide this level of care for patients and their families,” said Larry Ruvo, founder and chairman of Keep Memory Alive. “From valuable support resources to research, medical education and much, much more, it is Keep Memory Alive’s commitment to continue our mission to find a cure tomorrow, while preserving memories today.”

On Saturday, April 26, 2014 Keep Memory Alive, the fundraising arm of the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, and Bill Edwards Presents hosted an all-star tribute in honor of Gloria and Emilio Estefan at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The star-studded gala brought together entertainment and music legends to honor the Estefan’s advocacy for spinal cord injuries and research, and raise funds for Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and its fight against degenerative brain diseases.

Highlights from the night include an unforgettable duet from Gloria Estefan and Carole King singing “Natural Woman,” with Gloria and Emilio’s daughter Emily, guest performing on the bass guitar. Show opener Rita Moreno surprised audiences, reprising her role as Anita from West Side Story in a classic performance of “Somewhere.” Entertainment stars Ricky Martin, Queen Latifah and Jordin Sparks also took the stage, bringing guests to the dance floor with iconic dance songs and heartfelt tributes. Attendees were also treated to a performance from Emilio Estefan’s newest artist Fantine, who belted out new songs from her debut album. To close the evening, Jon Secada joined Gloria and the Las Vegas Mass Choir on stage, singing a special rendition of “Coming out of the Dark.” Celebrity supporters who also attended the event included Quincy Jones, Andy Garcia, Christopher Meloni, Dermot Mulroney, Kenny “Baby Face” Edmonds, Steve Schirripa, Sandra Lee and Siegfried & Roy.

Guests enjoyed a Dom Perignon pre-reception and silent auction, where they bid on one-of-a-kind items such as a trip to Steve Irwin’s Australian zoo, an original painting by renowned artist Vladimir Kush and a recording session with Kenny “Baby Face” Edmonds. Celebrity chefs Wolfgang Puck and Masaharu Morimoto prepared an exquisite dinner menu, including fresh Alaskan king crab and an extravagant dessert presentation.
