HAPPY PLACE, an interactive, immersive pop-up exhibit with larger-than-life installations and multi-sensory themed rooms, will turn Sin City into “Grin City” with their newest location at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino opening Friday, Aug. 23. On a mission to spread happiness across the world, “the most Instagrammable pop-up in America” (Urban Daddy) has helped more than half a million people “find their happy” while exploring 12 vibrant rooms. 

 

 
HAPPY PLACE features 15,000 square feet of playful spaces and cheerful moments including a Super Bloom room filled with 40,000 handmade gold flowers for the perfect photogenic floral backdrop, an Upside Down room that defies gravity and bends reality, six-foot tall X’s and O’s covered in thousands of mirrored squares and surrounded by red lips, the World’s Largest Indoor Confetti Dome, a Giant Rainbow complete with a Pot of Happiness to jump into, the signature Rubber Ducky Bathtub of Fun, the wildly popular Cookie Room, which is like stepping inside of your favorite chocolate chip cookie complete with the aroma of fresh baked cookies, the just added life-size Unicorn named Cornelius, plus other photo-friendly fantasy rooms. CHEF CHRIS SANTOS AND MUSTARD COLLABORATE TO LAUNCH HEALTHY & REFRESHING SUMMER SALAD AT ALL BEAUTY & ESSEX LOCATIONS

 

TAO Group DJ resident Mustard and Executive Chef Chris Santos have joined together to introduce a new salad that will be served throughout the summer at all Beauty & Essex locations including Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New York City.

 

The Mustard Summer Salad is a baby romaine, little gem and mustard green salad, with grilled chicken, red and yellow watermelon, asparagus, crisp julienned apple, baby mozzarella, candied walnuts and a mustard vinaigrette. The special is $18 and will be available through the end of September.

Mustard joined Santos in the kitchen to develop the dish, which includes some of the music producer’s favorite ingredients and was inspired by his new health kick.

 

Mustard, who has been performing at TAO Group Las Vegas venues since 2017, recently decided to focus on his health, documenting his wellness journey on his Instagram series, #weightcheckfam. In the series, popular athletes and entertainers give tips and push him to be his best.

 

Santos, who is also a judge on Food Network’s Chopped, has renewed his own focus on wellness, getting into the boxing ring as part of his fitness regime, making them the perfect pair to launch this new healthy dish together.

 

Mustard’s latest album Perfect Ten drops June 28 on 10 Summers/Interscope records. NCAA College Basketball Team Matchups Announced for the 18th Annual Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational at Orleans Arena Nov. 22-23

Returning for its 13th year to the Orleans Arena, the action-packed NCAA basketball tournament, Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational, announces the matchups and game times for this year’s tournament on Nov. 22-23.

The college basketball teams participating in this year’s early season tournaments include The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), Michigan State University (MSU), University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of Texas at Austin (UT).

Each team will play four games – the first two at campus sites and the final two at the Orleans Arena. The matchups and tournament schedule is as follows:

Thursday, Nov. 22
4:30 p.m. – UNC vs. UT
7 p.m. – UCLA vs. MSU

Friday, Nov. 23 at 1 p.m.
1 p.m. – UNC/UT vs. UCLA/MSU
3:30 p.m. – UNC/UT vs. UCLA/MSU
Team matchups are dependent upon who wins or loses Thursday’s games.

The FOX Broadcast network and FS1 will present coverage of four 2018 Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational games played at Orleans Arena, televising two opening-round games on Thursday, Nov. 22, and the championship and consolation games on Friday, Nov. 23.

Top NCAA College Basketball Teams Return to Orleans Arena for the 18th Annual Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational Nov. 22-23

The action-packed NCAA basketball tournament, Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational, will return for its 13th year to the Orleans Arena on Nov. 22-23.

The college basketball teams participating in this year’s early season tournaments include The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Michigan State University, University of California, Los Angeles and the University of Texas at Austin.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), which claimed its sixth NCAA national championship title in 2017, will make its third appearance in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational, entering both the 2007 and 2011 events ranked No. 1 in the nation. The UNC Tar Heels won its only Las Vegas Invitational title in 2007 and is 7-1 in the Las Vegas Invitational. Over the course of its storied 107 years of basketball, the UNC has a 12-4 record against Michigan State University, an 8-3 record against UCLA and a 3-7 record against the University of Texas.

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) will enter its 100th men’s basketball season in 2018-2019. The UCLA Bruins, having claimed 11 NCAA national titles, are no stranger to playing in the entertainment capital of the world with the Pac-12 Tournament taking place in Las Vegas for the past six seasons. This will mark UCLA’s second appearance in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational. Back in 2013, UCLA captured the title at the Las Vegas Invitational with wins over the University of Nevada, Reno and Northwestern University. Looking ahead to next season’s tournament, the Bruins have a 5-2 all-time record against Michigan State University, and have gone 3-3 versus University of Texas and 3-8 against UNC.

Michigan State University will make its first-ever appearance in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational, but has had success in Thanksgiving weekend basketball tournaments. In November 2017, the Michigan State Spartans defeated UNC by 63-45 in the PK80 Phil Knight Invitational finale in Portland, Ore. The win at the PK80 was Michigan State University’s third preseason tournament title in the last five years. The Spartans previously won the 2013 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y. and the 2015 Wooden Legacy. Michigan State University has an all-time record of 4-12 against UNC and has a 2-5 all-time record against UCLA and a 5-4 record against University of Texas, meeting last in 2014.

The University of Texas at Austin (UT) is also making its first appearance in the tournament and first trip to Las Vegas since 2001. The Texas Longhorns are the only team in the Las Vegas Invitational to have a winning record against UNC, having won seven of its last eight meetings for a 7-3 all-time series record. The last win came in December 2015 at Texas. UT is an even 3-3 against UCLA and 4-5 against Michigan State University.

FOX Broadcast network and FS1 will present coverage of four 2018 Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational games played at Orleans Arena, televising two opening-round games on Thursday, Nov. 22, and the championship and consolation games on Friday, Nov. 23. Always one of the top early season tournaments of the college basketball season, the past champions of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational reads like a “Who’s Who” of college basketball: Illinois (2005), Kansas (2006 and 2010), North Carolina (2007), Kentucky (2008) and Oklahoma State (2009). In the 2011 title game, UNLV upset No. 1 UNC 90-80. Creighton (2012), UCLA (2013), Illinois (2014), West Virginia (2015) Butler University (2016) and 2017 Champion Arizona State University.

More Than 40 Elite Basketball Stars Vying for Championship Title in Intensely Competitive Professional 3-on-3 Basketball 

Following the excitement of the BIG3 Draft in Las Vegas last weekend where all eight teams finalized their five-man rosters, the BIG3 has released the full 2017 season game matchups, including the BIG3 Championship Finals at T-Mobile Arena Saturday, Aug. 26 at 5 p.m. Tickets for the Finals at T-Mobile Arena go on sale Saturday, May 13 on AXS.com.

Each Sunday this summer, BIG3 will bring competitive 3-on-3 half-court basketball to cities throughout the country, including basketball hot beds Brooklyn, Charlotte, Tulsa, Philadelphia, Nashville, Dallas, Lexington (Ky.), Los Angeles, Seattle and Las Vegas. New Season to Feature Nation’s Best Dancers Between Ages of 18-30

Auditions to be held in New York and Los Angeles

FOX has renewed the Emmy Award-winning SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE for a 14th season. From 19 Entertainment and dick clark productions, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE will return this summer on FOX.

This season, highly-skilled dancers between the ages of 18-30 will showcase their talents in various dance styles, including contemporary, tap, hip-hop, ballroom, animation, breaking and more. The Top 10 dancers will be paired up with All-Stars who will guide them throughout the competition as they vie for America’s votes and the title of America’s Favorite Dancer.

“This season is about giving our loyal fan base what they’ve been asking for,” said executive producer Nigel Lythgoe. “We’ve decided to go back to basics by bringing the best of our past formats together for an exciting new summer featuring accomplished adult competitors partnered with fan-favorite All-Star dancers. And, of course, as in past seasons, there will be new surprises which are sure to wow our viewers.”

This season, all potential contestants must register online at sytycdauditions.com and upload a video or provide a link to a video of their performance. If selected, producers will reach out to schedule the contestant for an in-person audition in one of the two audition cities: New York (March 4-6) or Los Angeles (March 17-19).

Dancers either must be U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents of the U.S. or possess current legal Employment Authorization Cards enabling them to seek employment freely in the U.S. (i.e., without restrictions as to employer) by the date specified in the eligibility rules. Dancers must be no younger than 18 or older than 30 years of age on the first day they register online for auditions. Dancers must provide legal, valid proof of age when they register for auditions. During the audition rounds, the most talented dancers will compete in front of the judges for a coveted spot at “The Academy” callback rounds in Los Angeles. At the end of “The Academy” callback rounds, 10 All-Stars will choose one dancer each to move on to the SYTYCD studio and become this season’s Top 10. There, the Top 10 will compete LIVE each week for America’s votes in a variety of styles, working and performing alongside the All-Stars with world-renowned choreographers. Contestants will be eliminated weekly until a winner is named on the season finale.

Last September, Kida Burns was named the winner during the live two-hour season finale on FOX. Burns, at just 14, was the show’s youngest winner and danced off with the cash prize of $250,000, the cover of Dance Spirit magazine and the title of America’s Favorite Dancer. SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE garnered more than 180 million video views and social engagements on leading social platforms last season. The series also celebrated its milestone 250th episode.

Over the course of its 13 seasons, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE has received 55 Emmy Award nominations and garnered 14 Emmy Award wins, including Outstanding Choreography for Travis Wall (2015); Mia Michaels (2011, 2010 and 2007); Napoleon and Tabitha Dumo (2014 and 2011); Tyce Diorio (2009); and Wade Robson (2008 and 2007). Orianthi is inviting all musicians to submit a video of their best live performance for the chance to join her onstage in Los Angeles.  The PRS Artist is using the Talenthouse platform to find a guitarist, bass player, keyboard player and drummer for ‘BeMyBand’, a new song in development from Dave Stewart, co-founder of the Eurythmics.  Orianthi encourages and challenges players, “I’m definitely looking forward to meeting four ace musicians who can rock my world.”

“I always think about all those great players out there in various towns and cities who would love to play alongside a major artist and go through the whole experience of rehearsing and then perform a big show,” Stewart said in a statement. “There are so many singing competitions; this one is about the players in the band. The guys and girls who help create that magic.”

Orianthi, an award-winning, Platinum Australian-born guitarist, has been playing PRS guitars since she was 11 years old. How do you take a classic staple of American dining, the steakhouse, and break down the traditional thinking to create something entirely new, sophisticated and sexy? That was the question that acclaimed restaurateur and nightlife impresario Victor Drai posed when he decided the time was right to reinvent what has long been the trademarks of the steakhouse genre –a typical setting with a masculine vibe, dark rooms and fancy waiters. The answer became Rare by Drai’s, a modern, stylish and welcoming steakhouse with just the right amount of excess to appeal to Drai’s Los Angeles-meets-Las Vegas sensibility (Drai has been a pioneer on the nightlife scene in Los Angeles and Las Vegas for the past 20 years). With the DJ setting the distinctive soundscape upon entry, a creative design aesthetic envisioned by Drai and an alluring bar and lounge, Rare by Drai’s marks the beginning of a new era for Victor Drai on the Los Angeles dining scene, and there is no better spot to launch than on L.A.’s famed Sunset Plaza. The restaurant is set to open in early December, 2013.

Walking into Victor Drai’s newest restaurant will be like walking into a great dinner party – and that is by design. For the past two decades, Victor Drai has been known for knocking convention to the side and setting the trends; from his iconic La Cienega restaurant which opened nearly 20 years ago to his latest nightclub creations in Las Vegas, Drai has always had an extraordinary vision and aptitude to raise the bar with a unique experience. With Rare by Drai’s, he will continue the quest by creating a new type of steakhouse with a French-inspired menu serving the classics with a fresh, modern twist. From the staff uniforms (expect something unconventional) to the design of the booths to the color on the walls to the plates on the tables, Drai himself has overseen every detail…right down to the menu.

Like all great steakhouses, meats and seafood will take center stage, but in collaboration with Executive Chef Patrick Florendo, Drai has designed a menu that goes beyond the ordinary and even features his personal favorite: a Whole Roasted Loup de Mer, scented with lemon and thyme and roasted on a bed of fresh aromatic fennel. In addition to Drai’s signature dish, the menu features all prime-grade aged steaks, (butchered in house and ranging from 7 oz. to 36 oz.), fresh seafood options, as well as appetizers and salads which pay homage to the classics. Add up the fresh ingredients and distinctive dishes and Drai’s vision for Rare begins to take shape. “We are going to have the most delicious traditional steaks for the true meat aficionados, but we’re also going to have a selection of amazing signature items such as the Pan Roasted Wagyu Hanger Steak, the New Zealand Rack of Lamb, Steam Bouchet Mussels and a Roasted Whole Range Free Chicken that will be deconstructed and then re-constructed for a shared table experience,” explains Victor Drai. “I know this is a steakhouse, but our chicken is going to have our guests coming in weekly asking for more.”

In addition to the favorites, the menu at Rare will deliver appetizer options such as the Spicy Tuna Tartare with chili, crispy shallot, crunchy taro, and avocado, a Grilled Skuna Bay Salmon, a selection of farm-to-table salads, seasonal soups and more than a dozen hand-crafted side dishes. Desserts will not be an after-thought at Rare, as all of the desserts are made in-house along with ice creams and sorbets. Sure to be a favorite will be the “The Godiva Candy Bar,” featuring three layers consisting of a chewy caramel, a Godiva mousse and crunchy peanut butter.

The bar and lounge at Rare, led by acclaimed spirit manufacturer Chris Hewes, will feature a selection of classics, as well as Hewe’s own creative drinks and cocktails. Unlike most steakhouses, the bar and lounge at Rare is not merely a waiting space before dinner. With 33 seats, a DJ and access to the patio, the bar and lounge is designed to become the social gathering spot on Sunset Blvd.

Rare by Drai’s is set to open in early December. The expansive restaurant features 220 seats split between the restaurant’s main dining room, private dining room, bar and lounge and patio over-looking Sunset Blvd. Rare by Drai’s is a partnership with ESquared Hospitality: an international restaurant and hospitality group owned by Jimmy Haber and Keith Treyball.

Nobu at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas will host A Night of Canapés and Cocktails on Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 7 to 10 p.m. During the special event, Nobu Matsuhisa and 28 of his executive chefs from across the country will come together to present patrons with a once-in-a-lifetime culinary affair.

A Night of Canapés and Cocktails will kick off at the famed chef’s premier Las Vegas location inside Hard Rock Hotel. For the first time, talent representing Chef Nobu’s original dining concept, Matsuhisa and chefs from Nobu locations including Malibu, San Diego, Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, New York, Next Door, Fifty Seven, Lana’i, Waikiki, Caesars Palace Las Vegas and Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas will come together to showcase the finest of Nobu cuisine.

Guests will experience the best of Nobu with light bites designed to showcase each restaurant’s unique style and palate. Some of the savory selections include grilled pork belly with amazu, pickled compressed watermelon and balsamic crema, fluke sashimi chimichurri and Wagyu short ribs topped with tomato jam and crispy shallots.

The lavish evening of delectable delights and signature cocktails will be held underneath the stars outside at the hotel’s Breathe Pool. The lounge sits above the property’s lush 4.5 acre pool landscape and overlooks the entire Las Vegas Strip.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada KICKS OFF TRIPS FOR KIDS OF SOUTHERN NEVADA BY HOSTING JOURNEY 4 HEALTH BICYCLE TOUR Tuesday August 27

 

Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada hosts the first stop on the Journey 4 Health Bicycle Tour on Tuesday, August 27th at the Donald W. Reynolds Clubhouse from 4:00pm-5:00pm. This coincides with the kick-off of Trips for Kids of Southern Nevada, a new program offering cycling day trips 6 times a year during the Spring and Fall for Club members.

The Trips for Kids of Southern Nevada is one of the newest programs developed to promote environmental awareness and education, build confidence in youth and develop practical skills in youth. In addition to the rides, classes will be offered for Club members to care for the environment, bike safety, maintenance and building positive self-esteem.

The Journey 4 Health 45 day, 3,381 mile health awareness, education, inspiration and engagement bicycle tour travels west to east departing Los Angeles, California Friday, August 23 concluding on Monday, October 7 (Child Health Day) in Long Island, New York.  Their first stop is scheduled at the Donald W. Reynolds Clubhouse in Henderson. The goal of the tour is to improve the lives of people and the health of our communities by inspiring and creating awareness from the seat of a bicycle.

The Journey 4 Health Tour stop will be held at The Donald W. Reynolds Clubhouse (2980 Robindale Rd.) Tuesday, August 27 from 4:00pm- 5:00pm.
