Cameron Mackintosh’s spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA will come to Las Vegas as part of a brand new North American Tour. Critics are raving that this breathtaking production is “bigger and better than ever before,” featuring a brilliant new scenic design by Paul Brown, Tony Award®-winning original costume design by Maria Björnson, lighting design by Tony Award®-winner Paule Constable, new choreography by Scott Ambler, and new staging by director Laurence Connor. The production, overseen by Matthew Bourne and Cameron Mackintosh, boasts many exciting special effects including the show’s legendary chandelier. The Hough siblings are offering fans their biggest and best show yet, with brand-new stage production inspired by the elements – earth, wind, fire and water – which the duo have infused into fresh, high-impact choreography that only they can deliver. The pair will be joined by the Move Company Dancers for group performances in styles ranging from ballroom and tap to salsa and hip-hop, and everything in between. The show will bring audiences on a journey of dance and music, taking inspiration directly from the four elements as an exploration of the human relationship with nature. He storms the stage with music from Maynard Ferguson to U2, his show-stopping originals, plus classics, including “Hallelujah.”

He has received honors throughout the states including: the New York City Jazz Cabaret Honors, “Best Singer” for the Bravo California Awards and was named one of the top 12 rising jazz vocalists in New York by the NYC Jazz Record. “A voice, romantic without being cloying, warm but not forced, Jonathan carries songs with an emotional weight that reaches your soul. The Composers Showcase of Las Vegas is an entertainment forum that allows local composers and songwriters the opportunity to present original musical material to a supportive audience in an informal cabaret-style setting. Founded and hosted by Keith Thompson (JERSEY BOYS) and Michael Brennan (Le Rêve), the showcase focuses on uniting the theatre community of Las Vegas, giving creative spirits an outlet for artistic expression, laughing a lot and having a great time.  The Composers Showcase is not “open mic.”  Each presentation is carefully planned.  Composers and material are screened in order to provide the best and highest quality of entertainment.

 

Diane Schuur – Cabaret Jazz

One of contemporary jazz’s leading vocalists, Diane Schuur is as eclectic as she is brilliant. With a distinguished recording career spanning three decades, the two-time Grammy® winner explores every corner of the classic American songbook with her talented quartet. Though blind from birth, she is gifted with perfect pitch and is known for her pure, resonant voice and humorous engagement with audiences during every show. Schuur shares the stage with fellow two-time Grammy® winner saxophonist Ernie Watts, who has performed worldwide and been featured on more than 500 recordings with leading musical artists including Frank Zappa.

“Conversations with Norm” is a quarterly interview presentation hosted by former Review-Journal “man-about-town” columnist Norm Clarke, who covered the celebrity scene. Proceeds will benefit the education and outreach programs at The Smith Center.

Michelle Johnson presents her new production of “Strictly Taboo!” Enjoy the hits of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Eartha Kitt, Peggy Lee, Nina Simone, Dinah Washington, Bessie Smith, Etta James and more in this fast-paced musical revue featuring the music and fascinating, little known backstories of some of the world’s greatest female jazz artists.  Scandals, love stories, triumphs, tragedies, gowns, gloves, feathers …. and all of that fabulous music! Featuring the Strictly Taboo Orchestra, a 17-piece big band under the direction of arranger and conductor Joe Escriba, dancers and more. Frank LaSpina has performed across the nation with his one-of-a-kind musical biography shows, paying tribute to legends such as Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond, Nat King Cole and Karen Carpenter. Often backed by his talented music students, LaSpina performs hits the entertainers are most known for, interspersed with anecdotes and rare clips of the original star’s interviews and performances. A professional performer since his teens, LaSpina has also toured the country as a nightclub performer and gained a prominent reputation as a sought-after singing teacher. His career further includes years of success as a radio and TV talk show host. LaSpina’s shows in Las Vegas always benefit the charity he co-founded, the Musical Arts Scholarship Program.

Saturday Night Live veteran and long-time, nationally acclaimed standup comedian Jay Mohr comes to the South Point showroom January 2017. Jim Breuer brings a weekend of heavy metal to South Point’s Showroom. World-class magician and illusionist Rick Thomas will dazzle guests at the South Point Showroom. For the past 15 years, Thomas has performed 600 shows a year and has hosted world tours that span five  continents. Guests can expect a performance that blends innovative illusions, magic, music and dance for an evening that will leave guests in awe at the end of the show.

Earl Turner is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, musician and dancer who is taking over the South Point Showroom for an evening guests will never forget. Beginning his career at the age of 19 with his own tour, Turner is the ultimate entertainer who has shared the stage with Lou Rawls, Gladys Knight, Earth Wind & Fire and many more. Michael Cavanaugh brings the music of Billy Joel and more to the South Point Showroom. Cavanaugh is an actor, musician and singer most famous for being handpicked by Billy Joel to play piano and sing lead vocals for the Broadway musical “Movin’ Out.” He will have guests singing along all night to his covers of classic favorites such as “Piano Man,” “Just The Way You Are” and “Only The Good Die Young.”

Known as ‘Mr. Entertainment,’ Bobby Brooks Wilson brings the soul music of his father, Jackie Wilson, to the Grandview Lounge at South Point. The sound of Motown invades South Point’s Showroom every Tuesday from 8 to 11 p.m. excluding Tuesday, Jan. 24 where guests can catch the show in the Grandview Lounge. Guests will experience an evening hosted by Gregg Austin while enjoying the everlasting sounds that dramatically altered the world of music. Tickets are available here for $5, and include a complimentary drink and $5 Players Card credit. Reserved seating is available for $10 and can be purchased online or at the Box Office. Déjà Vu – Wednesday Nights Throughout December and January – Just Updated
South Point’s Showroom hosts Déjà Vu every Wednesday throughout December and January from 6 to 9 p.m. excluding Wednesday, Jan. 25 where Déjà Vu will host a free show in the Grandview Lounge at 6 p.m. Guests will experience an evening of pure excitement as they dance through the decades. All guests must be 21 or older with a valid form of ID and present a South Point Slot Club Card. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $5.

 

Dennis Bono Show –Thursday Afternoons Throughout December and January
South Point’s Dennis Bono Show offers guests a wide variety of amusement in the South Point Showroom every Thursday throughout December and January at 2 p.m. Featuring appearances with established celebrities from the world of entertainment, Bono’s interaction with his guests creates a one-of-a-kind performance. Doors open at 1 p.m. This show is free and open to the public.

 

“Dirty at 12:30” with Gabe Lopez –Friday Nights Throughout December and January – Just Updated
Gabe Lopez and the South Point present “The Dirty at 12:30” inside the South Point Grandview Lounge every Friday night throughout December and January at 11:59 p.m. This show is not for guests that are easily offended and cannot handle dirty raw comedy. Special guests who have appeared on the “Dirty” stage include Ralphie May, Joey Diaz, Joe Rogan, Carlos Mencia and many more. Always dirty, always free. This event is free and open to the public. Wes Winters – Friday and Saturday Nights Throughout December and January – Just Updated
Wes Winters’ unique “One-Man-Lounge-Show” visits the South Point Hotel every Friday and Saturday in December and January starting in the South Point Showroom Friday, Jan. 6 and in the Grandview Lounge starting Friday, Jan. 13  at 6 p.m. for the remainder of the month. Guests will be dancing all night while listening to Winters’ innate vocal and piano skills. This event is free and open to the public.

 

SPAZMATICS –Saturday Nights Throughout December and January – Just Updated
The SPAZMATICS will party away to the best of the 1980s in the South Point Showroom every Saturday night throughout December and starting in January on Saturday, Jan. 14 with a special show on New Year’s Eve at 10:15 p.m. Tickets for the show on New Year’s Eve are available for $75 and can be purchased here. Tickets for December and January’s shows are available for $5 or guests can purchase a “SPAZMATICS Party Package” for $10 including one ticket, one drink and reserved seating. Doors open at 10 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door or guests can purchase VIP seats online or by calling the Box Office (702) 797-8055. If music were about pictures, percussionist Poncho Sanchez’s music would best be described as a kaleidoscopic swirl of some of the hottest colors and brightest lights to emerge from either side of the border. Multi-talented entertainer and showman Earl Turner returns to the Suncoast Showroom May 30 and 31.

Turner began performing at the age of 13, and by age 19, he was traveling the country as a front man with various show bands. As a solo artist, Turner scored a top 40 dance hit in Europe in the mid-1980s with “Love Caught You By Surprise.” Turner’s career spans the screens and the stage, as a singer, songwriter, musician, dancer and actor.

A renowned Las Vegas performer, Turner has appeared at numerous resorts and showrooms across the U.S. His accolades include being honored as Male Vocalist of the Year by the Las Vegas Review-Journal and being named one of New Orleans Magazine’s People to Watch in 2005. He was inducted into the New Orleans Music Hall of Fame the same year.

Powerhouse showman Earl Turner brings energy, excitement and entertainment in his return to the Suncoast Showroom, September 27-28.

After earning 50 cents for his first performance when he was 13 years old, Turner was smitten with show business, and by age 19 he was traveling the country as a frontman with various show bands. As a solo artist, Turner scored a Top 40 dance hit in Europe in the mid-1980s with “Love Caught You By Surprise.”

A renowned Las Vegas stage veteran, Turner has appeared at numerous resorts and showrooms on and off the Strip. In 2004, Harrah’s New Orleans transformed the Mansion Ballroom into The Earl Turner Theatre, where he performed for two years.

The Ultimate Showman” Earl Turner returns to the Suncoast Showroom with “Oh What A Night!” on February 15 and 16.

Turner began performing at the age of 13, and by age 19, he was traveling the country as a frontman with various show bands. As a solo artist, Turner scored a Top 40 dance hit in Europe in the mid-1980s with “Love Caught You By Surprise.” Turner’s career covers the screen and the stage, as a singer, songwriter, musician, dancer and actor.

A renowned Las Vegas performer, Turner has appeared at numerous resorts and showrooms across the United States. His accolades include being honored as “Male Vocalist of the Year” by the Las Vegas Review-Journal and one of New Orleans Magazine “People to Watch” in 2005. He was inducted into the New Orleans Music Hall of Fame in 2005. He works closely with a number of prominent charities, including The Special Olympics, Opportunity Village of Las Vegas and The Blood Center of Louisiana.

Turner’s son, Aaron, competed on the hit television show “So You Think You Can Dance” and was named runner-up during its tenth season. Aaron Turner will make a special guest appearance at his father’s shows on February 15 and 16.

Multi-talented entertainer and showman Earl Turner returns to the Suncoast Showroom November 2 and 3.

On Saturday, October 19, Easter Seals Nevada, the nonprofit that serves more than 8,000 Nevadans with disabilities annually, hosts the valley’s sweetest fundraising event with its third annual “Cheers to Chocolate” presented by Total Wine & More from 7-9 p.m. at Tivoli Village. Chocolate and wine lovers unite to savor more than 20 different wines provided by Total Wine & More and indulge in chocolate by Vosges Haut Chocolate, Pinkbox Doughnuts, CupKates and other notable vendors around Las Vegas. “We are excited to host our third annual ‘Cheers to Chocolate’ and are thankful for the support and involvement from our local vendors and sponsors that help make this event possible,” said Brian Patchett, President and CEO of Easter Seals Nevada. “All funds raised will go directly to our ‘Make the First Five Count’ initiative, helping us to better serve the children receiving services from Easter Seals.”

In addition to wine and chocolate tastings, guests can experience the musical stylings of local entertainer Earl Turner, current opening act for Frankie Moreno LIVE at The Stratosphere Tommy Ward, and a special appearance from Golden Globe winner and Grammy nominee Pia Zadora. Local sculptor Dorit Schwartz will showcase her stunning collection “The Light Within” and there will be a lavish silent auction featuring fine jewelry, show tickets and more.  Attendees will also have the chance to win a chocolate diamond ring by D&R House of Diamonds.

“Cheers to Chocolate” will help fund Easter Seals Nevada’s “Make the First Five Count,” a program that works to identify early developmental delays in children under five years of age and strives to start vital therapies during the critical early years.
