The Tyler Robinson Foundation (TRF), the nonprofit organization of the GRAMMY® Award-winning, multiplatinum-selling band Imagine Dragons, has announced its honorees for the sixth annual Rise Up Gala, an extraordinary, one-night-only experience dedicated to supporting families battling childhood cancer. The star-studded evening of inspiration is set for Friday, Sept. 6 at Wynn Las Vegas and is currently sold out.

Imagine Dragons fans and TRF supporters unable to snag tickets can now enter to win the prize package of a lifetime which includes two round trip flights to Las Vegas, two nights at Wynn Las Vegas and two VIP tickets to the 2019 Rise Up Gala featuring an intimate acoustic performance by the band. The international giveaway is open online at trf.org/2019galagiveaway and closes Wednesday, July 31 at 5 p.m.

A number of community heroes will be recognized during the exclusive event for their efforts in support of TRF’s mission. Honorees include:

TRF Community Impact: Zappos and Zappos For Good
Zappos, the online retailer known for exceptional customer service and its official charitable arm, Zappos for Good, live their mission to spread happiness and celebrate the good in everything while encouraging their employees to be the good they want to see in the world. With a strong company culture focused on giving back and being socially responsible, Zappos and Zappos for Good can be found making an impact in just about every space imaginable. While longtime gala supporters, Zappos and Zappos for Good have increased collaborations with TRF within the past year and continue to surprise and delight TRF families nationwide.

Team TRF Honoree: Corner Canyon High School
Students at Corner Canyon High School in Draper, Utah rallied together to raise $77,526.08 for TRF during their fundraising season in December 2018, exceeding their goal to raise $75,000 in just three weeks. As part of the Team TRF school fundraising program, students completed “odd jobs” in the community including door-to-door asks, silent auctions, sporting events, student activities and restaurants nights to support the fundraising effort.

TRF Honorary Chair: Shaquille O’Neal
Shaquille O’Neal is so much more than a list of outstanding stats from 19 seasons in the NBA. The basketball Hall of Famer frequently donates his time and money to countless charitable causes throughout the global community. With new ties to Las Vegas, Shaq has invited more than a dozen TRF families to various benefit events this year and continues to quietly make an impact in Las Vegas and around the world.

TRF Legacy Honoree: Tim and Amy Cantor
Tim Cantor’s extraordinary artistic vision has been apparent since he began oil painting at just five years old. By age 15, he was given his first art exhibition, whereupon one of his paintings was acquired to hang in the White House. After marrying Amy, the love of his life and his partner in all things, Tim’s reputation continued to expand across the world. In 2015, Tim and Amy began working closely with Imagine Dragons to create the cover of the band’s second album, Smoke + Mirrors, as well as 13 paintings representing each song on the album. The partnership only deepened as the art was integrated into the band’s music video for “Shots,” featured in the tour production, and became a touring art exhibition accompanying Imagine Dragons at more than 60 stops in North America and Asia. With exquisite galleries in San Diego and Amsterdam, Tim and Amy are far more accomplished than their humble and gracious personalities would ever let on. They have given quietly and generously for years to TRF, lending their talents and time to create art for events, awards for honorees, and auctioning off paintings. They are an integral part of the TRF family.

The Rise Up Gala offers attendees an exclusive night of entertainment and glamour while celebrating the individuals who have made notable contributions to TRF through direct efforts, philanthropic support, or by raising public awareness for pediatric cancer. Joel McHale will once again serve as master of ceremonies. The evening also features a special acoustic performance from the GRAMMY Award-winning, multiplatinum-selling band, Imagine Dragons. All proceeds benefit TRF, where 85 percent of every dollar raised goes directly to families in need. For more information, visit TRF.org.

About The Tyler Robinson Foundation
The Tyler Robinson Foundation (TRF) helps strengthen families financially and emotionally as they cope with the tragedy of a pediatric cancer diagnosis by providing grants specifically to offset out-of-pocket life expenses. TRF is the nonprofit organization of the Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum selling band Imagine Dragons. TRF meets a critical need in communities across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe and Malaysia. Each year, one in 285 children are diagnosed with cancer. While many pediatric cancer organizations focus on growing awareness and support for families with the physical and emotional toll of a diagnosis, the huge financial hardship cancer treatment places on families is rarely discussed. More than 85-percent of every dollar TRF raises goes right to families in need. For more information visit TRF.org.

HARD ROCK CAFE LAS VEGAS ENCOURAGES FANS TO “MARCH FO[U]RTH” TO SUPPORT THE TYLER ROBINSON FOUNDATION

Hard Rock continues its support for the Tyler Robinson Foundation with special March Fo[u]rth events across the country to honor the day Tyler Robinson lost his battle to cancer. Tyler was a young boy diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer, who found his inspiration through the band Imagine Dragons and eventually formed a friendship with GRAMMY® award-winning rockers.  On Wednesday, March 4, Hard Rock Cafe on Paradise will celebrate Tyler’s legacy and support the cause by donating 15% of the total food and beverage sales that day directly to the foundation. The Tyler Robinson Foundation (TRF) is an organization established by Imagine Dragons in 2013 to help families handle unexpected financial costs of pediatric cancer.

The date March 4th is meaningful to those closest to Tyler and the foundation, as it is a reminder to march forth in life. This date has now become TRF’s annual giving campaign, Operation March Fo[u]rth, which aims to raise $1 million in one day for the foundation in an effort to assist families with the unexpected costs of cancer.

Hard Rock’s Imagine Dragons Signature Series

Imagine Dragons and Hard Rock International joined forces to help slay cancer with Dragons, and support the band’s Tyler Robinson Foundation, through the Imagine Dragons Signature Series: Edition 33 T-shirt and pin. The limited-edition collectible pin and men’s T-shirt featuring an original design by Imagine Dragons are available online at RockShop.HardRock.com and at Rock Shops at Hard Rock Cafes, Hotels and Casinos worldwide.

In celebration of Imagine Dragons’ album launch, Hard Rock also released a limited number of autographed Signature Series T-shirts that are hidden throughout the racks at various Rock Shop locations worldwide. Guests can also enjoy Hard Rock Cafe’s Imagine Dragons-inspired menu options including the Dragon Berry Daiquiri, Radioactive Lemonade and the non-alcoholic Imagine Smoothie.

Proceeds from the sale of Hard Rock’s Imagine Dragons Signature Series T-shirt and pin benefit the Tyler Robinson Foundation. For additional information, visit www.HardRock.com/lasvegas.

 Imagine Dragons

About Imagine Dragons
Formed in 2009 by Dan Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon, bassist Ben McKee, and drummer Daniel Platzman, Imagine Dragons earned a grassroots following by independently releasing a series of EPs. After Alex Da Kid signed them to his KIDinaKORNER/Interscope label, the band made its major-label debut with the release of Continued Silence, a 2012 EP featuring the 2x platinum breakthrough single “It’s Time.” The band’s double-platinum album Night Visions arrived later that year and Imagine Dragons found themselves on a skyward trajectory that saw the album debut at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, sell nearly four million copies worldwide, and became the No. 1 album on Spotify Worldwide for 2013. Night Visions’ second single, the 9x platinum “Radioactive,” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Rock chart and earned the band a 2014 Grammy for “Best Rock Performance.” It is the best-selling rock song in U.S. digital history. The third single, “Demons,” hit No. 1 at Alternative and Top 40 radio, and has sold 3.9 million copies in the U.S. The band has sold more than 24 million tracks worldwide.

About the Tyler Robinson Foundation
The Tyler Robinson Foundation begins with the story of Tyler – one of many heroes who chose not to let his prognosis dictate his outlook on life. At 16-yearsold, Tyler was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer.  In the following year leading up to his passing, he was able to touch countless lives. Those who knew Tyler were inspired by his courage, and his insistence on enjoying life and spreading happiness despite the physical and emotional strain of living with cancer. Determined to continue Tyler’s legacy of creating something positive despite the odds, his family and members of the band Imagine Dragons (who had grown close to Tyler) came together to create the Tyler Robinson Foundation. Some people say that Tyler lost his battle with cancer, but we couldn’t disagree more. The real battle is not whether you live or die, but how you respond to the challenge. Tyler loved music, which was the catalyst for his relationship with the band Imagine Dragons. One of his favorite lyrics during the time he was battling cancer comes from the song “It’s Time,” which says the road to heaven runs through miles of clouded hell. When the band heard about this, they dedicated the song to him at a show – this was the beginning of a long friendship. For more information, visit www.TRF.org.

Life is Beautiful Announces National Our School is Beautiful Initiative with Communities In Schools of Nevada

The team behind the internationally-acclaimed Life is Beautiful music, food, art and learning festival announced a new initiative, Our School is Beautiful, on Tuesday, Feb. 17. In collaboration with its inaugural partner, Communities in Schools of Nevada (CIS of Nevada), the Nevada affiliate of the nation’s leading dropout prevention program, Our School is Beautiful aims to empower at-risk students with pride in their schools, their community and in themselves.

“Life is Beautiful was created to make a positive impact on the communities in which we operate,” said Rehan Choudhry, founder of Life is Beautiful. “We aim to give people the tools and perspective needed to continue to see that life is beautiful and full of opportunity and hope. With Our School is Beautiful, we are working with incredible partners to focus our efforts on our Nevada children attending at-risk schools.”

At a private assembly held inside Las Vegas’ William H. “Bob” Bailey Middle School, more than 500 students gathered with Clark County School District (CCSD) staff and administration for a special video presentation to introduce the new initiative. The video recapped a day-long event that sought to remind students that they are not forgotten, they have potential and they are special, all while educating and empowering them. The day was elevated with participation from a variety of celebrities including chefs Rick Moonen and Bruce Bromberg, UFC fighter Miesha Tate, The Killers’ lead singer Brandon Flowers and GRAMMY-winning band Imagine Dragons.

“With the help of Life is Beautiful, students who face daily challenges were able to enjoy this special and magical event which planted the seed of hope in so many and reminded our students of their potential,” said Diane Fearon, chief executive officer of CIS of Nevada. “This event, combined with the reinforcement of the mentor relationship many students have with CIS of Nevada site coordinators at school every day provides great support and inspiration to low-income, high-risk students.”

“Nevada has the lowest-rated public education in America right now,” said Robert Reynolds of Reynolds Management and manager of Flowers. “That needs to change. I went to Bonanza. Brandon went to Chaparral. Like anyone who grew up here, we were happy to help.”

The concept for the initiative arose during dinner between Choudhry and Fearon. A perfect marriage between the mission of CIS of Nevada and the drive behind Life is Beautiful, Our School is Beautiful was born a mutually-beneficial fit. After 30 days of planning, the brainchild came to life when three at-risk CCSD schools had the experience of a lifetime.

“I knew we had to get involved in the effort as soon as Rehan and the Communities in Schools team told us the general concept of taking three at risk schools and helping turn them around,” said Mac Reynolds of Reynolds Management and manager of Imagine Dragons. “Dan [Reynolds, lead singer of Imagine Dragons] and I grew up in Las Vegas and attended public schools not too different from the ones we visited.  Having your own kids makes you realize just how important it is to foster an environment where they feel empowered and full of hope.  This program does just that.”

At Tuesday’s announcement, Bailey Middle School Principal Greg Cole, along with Choudhry, addressed the students before playing a 10-minute video that captured the day and explained the process behind and importance of Our School is Beautiful.

Beyond Las Vegas, the initiative aims to equip individuals in other cities with the tools and information they need to create similar events across the country.

15 REASONS TO EXPERIENCE HARD ROCK HOTEL & CASINO DURING
RASCAL FLATTS VEGAS RIOT! RESIDENCY, FEBRUARY 25-MARCH 14

The band celebrates its 15th anniversary along with 15 No. 1 singles in 2015

 rascal flatts

This month, Rascal Flatts will make history as the first country group to take up a residency in Las Vegas. The band will perform nine shows, deemed Rascal Flatts Vegas Riot!, at The Joint inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino from Wednesday, February 25 to Saturday, March 14. As the trio celebrates its 15-year anniversary with 15 No. 1 singles, here are 15 reasons (in no particular order) why locals and visitors alike should stay on property and see a Rascal Flatts show:

  1. Because… it’s Rascal Flatts.
    • Rascal Flatts remains the most-awarded country music group of the past decade with eight consecutive studio albums debuting at No. 1. Since its musical debut in 2000, the group has sold more than 22.8 million albums, 29 million digital downloads and has earned more than 40 trophies from the American Country Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards, American Music Awards, Country Music Association Awards, People’s Choice Awards and more. In 2012, the band reached a new milestone with more than 7 million concert tickets sold.
  2. First country band to have a residency in Las Vegas.
    • Rascal Flatts is not only the first country band to take up a residency at The Joint, but it is the first country band to take up a residency in Las Vegas.
  3. Opening with Craig Wayne Boyd.
    • Kicking off the show each night will be season seven winner of NBC’s “The Voice” Craig Wayne Boyd. The future country superstar already has a No.1 single, “My Baby’s Got a Smile on Her Face,” under his belt just two months after his big win.
  4. Country nightlife.
    • Throughout the Rascal Flatts Vegas Riot! residency, Dee Jay Silver will perform a mix of Top 40 hits with light infusions of country at Body English Nightclub. Silver has been a top-touring DJ for more than 10 years and has traveled with many legendary country artists including Brad Paisley, Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan.
  5. Place a bet on “Fast Cars and Freedom.”
    • While on property, head over to the Race & Sports Book powered by CG Technology to place a bet on NASCAR. Rascal Flatts will be singing the national anthem and Boyd will be performing during the pre-race festivities at the Kobalt 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, March 8.
  6. There’s no bad seat in the house.
    • The Joint is an unparalleled entertainment destination that features a state-of-the-art sound system, superior video projections and tailor-made production packages. The venue will offer Rascal Flatts fans the best of both worlds with general admission pit access and reserved seating maxed at a 3,200 capacity to create a more intimate show for concertgoers.
  7. Two shows for the price of one.
    • As Rascal Flatts wraps up, music fans can head straight to Vinyl for a free show with Elvis Monroe. The band, comprised of members from Lifehouse, Matchbox Twenty and Emerson Drive, is known for its eclectic mix of alternative country, classic Americana and modern flavor. The group will perform at Vinyl at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25; Wednesday, March 4; Friday, March 6; and Saturday, March 7.
  8. Rascal Flatts-themed menus.
    • Hard Rock Hotel’s restaurants are revamping its menus with Rascal Flatts-themed food and beverage specials, available throughout the residency. Images can be downloaded here. A sample of items include:
      • 35 Steaks + Martinis’ “My Wish” Surf & Turf ($58), an 8-ounce Black Angus Filet Mignon and U-4 Tiger Prawn drizzled with garlic butter;

IMAGINE DRAGONS AND HARD ROCK PARTNER TO BENEFIT THE TYLER ROBINSON FOUNDATION WITH SIGNATURE SERIES: EDITION 33 MERCHANDISE LAUNCH AND GLOBAL CAFE TAKEOVER

Limited-Edition Imagine Dragons T-shirt and Pin Available January 2015 in Support of the Band’s Charity

Multi-platinum, GRAMMY® Award-winning rock band Imagine Dragons and iconic lifestyle brand Hard Rock International have joined forces to help slay cancer with Dragons, and support the band’s Tyler Robinson Foundation, through the Imagine Dragons Signature Series: Edition 33 merchandise line. The limited-edition collectible pin and men’s T-shirt featuring an original design by Imagine Dragons will be available online at HardRock.com and at Rock Shops at Hard Rock Cafes, Hotels and Casinos worldwide beginning in January 2015.

“We feel very passionate about the Tyler Robinson Foundation and are excited to work with Hard Rock to use their global reach and charitable roots to help us spread the message of Tyler and this cause,” said Imagine Dragons frontman and Tyler Robinson co-founder, Dan Reynolds.

Proceeds from the sale of Hard Rock’s Imagine Dragons Signature Series merchandise will benefit the Tyler Robinson Foundation (TRF), an organization established by the band in 2013 to help families handle unexpected financial costs of pediatric cancer. TRF assigns financial advisers to families affected and covers expenses such as child care, rent, utility bills and travel costs for treatments. Through the Signature Series: Edition 33 merchandise, fans can join Imagine Dragons in their mission to support families struggling with the financial burden of childhood cancer, so they can focus on treatments and healing.

Hard Rock’s Imagine Dragons Signature Series: Edition 33 men’s T-shirt ($26) is slate-blue and features an image of a bird and a guitar nestled in a bird’s nest, symbolizing the little things the Tyler Robinson Foundation does to keep their recipients and families safe and happy. The T-shirt also displays the band’s logo and a city-specific Hard Rock brand logo. The new Signature Series Pin ($12) is shaped like a guitar-pick and features an image of a bird, nest and guitar with Imagine Dragons and Hard Rock logos.

“We have fostered a valuable friendship with Imagine Dragons over the past several years,” said James Buell, Director of Music and Marketing for Hard Rock International. “We are honored to further our partnership with these award-winning artists by supporting a cause they are extremely passionate about and we look forward to raising funds and awareness for this inspirational cause.”

To celebrate the partnership, Hard Rock will also join forces with Imagine Dragons to support the band’s sophomore album, Smoke + Mirrors, on the day of the album’s release. On Tuesday, February 17, 2015, Imagine Dragons will be the first artist to take control of Hard Rock Cafe’s internal video system, played on more than 20,000 screens in Hard Rock’s 150 cafe locations around the world. Guests who visit one of Hard Rock’s many cafe locations worldwide will experience the “Dragons” takeover first-hand, including the band’s latest video releases and other hand-picked favorites.

Additionally, Hard Rock Cafe locations will offer a limited-edition beverage menu to support the Tyler Robinson Foundation through February 2015. Guests are encouraged to visit their local Hard Rock Cafe and enjoy a delicious way to give back to the cause!

Hard Rock’s Signature Series Lineup

Hard Rock developed the concept of partnering with world-renowned musicians and bands to create and donate imaginative designs more than 20 years ago. These unique designs are converted onto T-shirts and sold at Hard Rock properties worldwide, with a portion of the retail price benefitting the artist’s preferred charity. Imagine Dragons joins a legendary roster of music icons – from U2, KISS, Bruce Springsteen and Eric Clapton, to The Who, Jon Bon Jovi, Linkin Park, Shakira, Ringo Starr and Jimi Hendrix – who have become part of Hard Rock’s Signature Series program, which has helped to raise millions of dollars for charitable causes worldwide.

TAYLOR SWIFT TO RECEIVE FIRST EVER DICK CLARK AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE

TAYLOR SWIFT TO RECEIVE FIRST EVER
DICK CLARK AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE
AT THE 2014 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS®

New Award Will be the AMA’s Highest Honor

Swift Will Open the Show with the World Television Premiere of “Blank Space”

The Show Will Broadcast Live SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23rd
(8:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT) on ABC

dick clark productions and ABC announced today that Taylor Swift will be presented with the inaugural “Dick Clark Award for Excellence” at the 2014 American Music Awards.  Swift will be recognized for her historical album sales as the only artist in history to have three albums – “Speak Now, “Red” and “1989” — each debuting with more than 1 million sold in their first week. This year, in its first week, “1989” sold 1.287 million copies, making it the highest selling album released in 2014. Swift is the first recipient of the Dick Clark Award for Excellence, given to an artist who achieves a groundbreaking feat or creates a landmark work.  It is to be bestowed upon someone whose spirit and excellence capture the visionary passion that Dick Clark himself incorporated into everything he did.

Clark, the creator of the 42-year-old American Music Awards, influenced popular music in America for six decades. He was known for maintaining a standard of excellence both in the shows he produced and in the talent that he showcased. Simultaneously “America’s Oldest Teenager” and the most trusted name in music, Clark was responsible for the first TV appearances of many superstars including Michael Jackson, Madonna and Prince. Taylor Swift, who also made her debut on a Dick Clark Production show, will be honored with this prestigious award with Clark’s wife, Kari, in the audience, along with a theatre full of stars who grew up on Clark’s programs. This promises to be one of the most significant moments in the rich history of the AMA’s.

“The first time Dick saw Taylor perform, he knew she was something special,” said Kari Clark, wife of the late Dick Clark.  “He would be thrilled to know she is the first artist to receive the Dick Clark Award for Excellence.”

“The American Music Awards most closely reflects Dick Clark’s philosophy of popular music. It provides a platform for the biggest music artists of the day, with the winners voted on by the fans,” said American Music Awards producer Larry Klein.  “Clark always said, ‘Music is the soundtrack of our lives,’ and no one’s recent music has provided a more meaningful soundtrack for the lives of music fans than Taylor Swift.”

Swift will also take to the stage to open the show with the world television premiere performance of her new single “Blank Space”.  She joins a line-up of must-see artists including 5 Seconds of Summer, Mary J. Blige, Garth Brooks, Charli XCX, Fergie, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Imagine Dragons, Jessie J, Lil Wayne, Lorde, Magic!, Nicki Minaj, One Direction, Sam Smith, and the evening’s host, Pitbull.  Additional stars slated to present throughout the evening include Uzo Aduba, Jhene Aiko, Elizabeth Banks, Aloe Blacc, Lauren Cohan, Gavin DeGraw, Ansel Elgort, Jamie Foxx, Becky G, Brantley Gilbert, Danai Gurira, Lucy Hale, Ella Henderson, Julianne Hough, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Kira Kazantsev, Heidi Klum, Mary Lambert, Rose McGowan, Danica McKellar, Pat Monahan, Olivia Munn, Kevin O’Leary, Pentatonix, Tracee Ellis Ross, Taylor Schilling and Meghan Trainor. The 2014 American Music Awards will broadcast live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23rd (8:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT) on ABC.  Additional performers and presenters will be announced soon.

Taylor Swift is the only artist in history to have three million-selling weeks (2010’s Speak Now, 2012’s RED and 2014’s 1989) and the only artist to have two singles hit No. 1 on Billboards HOT 100 Chart this year. Taylor is a global superstar and seven-time GRAMMY winner, and the youngest winner in history of the music industry’s highest honor, the GRAMMY Award for Album of the Year. She is the first artist since the Beatles (and the only female artist in history) to log six or more weeks at #1 in the U.S. with three consecutive studio albums. Taylor has an album on Rolling Stone’s prestigious The 50 Greatest Albums of All Time (by women) list, Time magazine has named her one the of the 100 Most Influential People in the world, and she is Billboard’s youngest-ever Woman of the Year and the only artist to have been awarded this honor twice. Taylor has career record sales in excess of 30 million albums and more than 80 million song downloads worldwide, and has had singles top both the pop and country radio charts around the globe. Taylor’s album RED, released two years ago, sold more than 1.2 million copies in the U.S. in its first week. The only other album to sell more than RED was her critically acclaimed fifth studio album, 1989, the highest selling release since 2002 and the only album to go platinum in 2014. 1989 sold almost 1.3 million albums release week topping Billboard’s Top 200 charts and iTunes’ sales charts in 95 countries on its release. 1989 has sold almost three million copies globally and tops Billboard Top 200 for a third week.  “Shake It Off,” the first single from 1989, topped Billboard’s Pop, HotAC and Hot 100 charts and has earned double Platinum-status by the RIAA for exceeding sales of two million downloads in the U.S.  Her current single “Blank Space,” immediately skyrocketed to the top of the Hot 100 and iTunes chart on its debut.

NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23rd (8:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT) on ABC.  Additional performers and presenters will be announced soon.

The 2014 American Music Award nominations were announced last month, revealing six nominations for Iggy Azalea–the most of any artist.  Other top contenders include John Legend, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams, who each earned five nominations, and Lorde who earned four.

As always at the American Music Awards, artists will be honored in the genres of Pop/Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Alternative Rock, Adult Contemporary, Latin, Contemporary Inspirational, Electronic Dance Music, as well as categories for Top Soundtrack, New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl’s, Artist of the Year and Single of the Year. A History-Making Michael Jackson Experience Topped an Evening with

Honoring Music’s Best and Brightest

The 2014 Billboard Music Awards, hosted by musician and actor Ludacris, made television history on Sunday night with a show bursting with never-before-seen superstar duos, explosive premiere performances and a once-in-a-lifetime Michael Jackson experience.  The show aired live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on ABC.

Justin Timberlake was the night’s big winner, taking home 7 awards including Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top R&B Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album, and Top R&B Album.  Timberlake also took the lead in Album award wins with two. The record breaking summer hit “Blurred Lines” won the most Song categories with 4 wins in Top Hot 100 Song, Top Digital Song, Top Radio Song, and Top R&B Song. Imagine Dragons followed Timberlake with 5 artist awards including Top Duo/Group, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Rock Artist, Top Rock Album and Top Streaming Song (Audio).  Pharrell Williams, Robin Thicke and T.I. each won 4 awards throughout the night as well.

The show opened with international superstars Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull and Claudia Leitte debuting their official 2014 FIFA World Cup song “We Are One (Ole Ola).”  The stage filled with colorful images of the worlds’ flags as the three stars were joined by dancers, drummers and flag girls to share this new anthem with the crowd.  In addition to kicking off the night’s musical performances, Lopez was honored with the prestigious ICON Award, making her the first woman in the four years of its existence, to receive the award for their remarkable and enduring contribution to popular music.

Television history was made with a thrilling, multi-dimensional dance performance of Michael Jackson’s “Slave to the Rhythm” during which fans experienced the groundbreaking magic and fantasy we know to expect from the greatest entertainer of all time.  The performance was created for fans by the Estate of Michael Jackson to capture the essence, the excitement and the magic that Jackson embodied.  Produced by the Estate and Pulse Evolution, it took over a year, and a team of 104 cast and crew, to create this one-of-a-kind full stage experience to showcase all that Michael was.

Milestone Award winner Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert made the television debut of their yet-to-be released new duet “Somethin’ Bad,” while Iggy Azalea and Ariana Grande performed their chart-topping single “Problem,” surrounded by a spirited cheerleading squad.  Azalea also performed her hit “Fancy.”

The evening featured special performances by Australian pop-punk band 5 Seconds of Summer who made their U.S. television performance debut with “She Looks So Perfect,” which hit No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 200 Chart.  Luke Bryan made a surprise appearance during country duo Florida Georgia Line’s performance of “This Is How We Roll,” before taking to the stage solo to perform his own “Play It Again.” Imagine Dragons performed “Tiptoe,” from their multi-platinum album “Night Visions” and took home the second most awards of any artist of the night with five.

Jason Derulo owned the stage during a performance of his hit “Talk Dirty,” which reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 list. John Legend sang his soulful “All of Me,” Robin Thicke delivered a heartfelt “Get Her Back”, and rock band OneRepublic pumped the crowd up with their hit “Counting Stars,” which has spent an impressive 47 weeks on the charts. Katy Perry sang “Birthday,” another television first, while Cyrus made her television debut performance of “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” featuring The Flaming Lips.  Lorde sang Billboard Adult Pop chart-topping hit “Tennis Court”, and Shakira sang a spicy rendition of her song “Empire.”  Lopez also sang her newest single off her upcoming tenth album, “First Love.”  Also debuting music from the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Ricky Martin sprang up through the stage floor to perform his new single “Vida,” which got everyone in the audience up on their feet.
