Six-time GRAMMY Award-winner, Golden Globe Award-winner and Academy Award-nominee superstar entertainer Lady Gaga will bring her one-of-a-kind talent and creativity to the stage at Park Theater at Park MGM in Las Vegas beginning in December 2018.  On the heels of a year that included a stunning Super Bowl performance and a wildly celebrated sold-out tour, Lady Gaga’s energy and raw talent will forever change the Las Vegas entertainment landscape. Reckless in Vegas Hosts Costume Party Performance, October 30

Reckless in Vegas

RECKLESS IN VEGAS HOSTS RAT-PACK-INSPIRED COSTUME PARTY, CONCERT AT THE SMITH CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS,
FRIDAY, OCT. 30

Acclaimed Band, Reckless in Vegas, to Perform Alt-Rock Renditions of Rat Pack-Era Classics

On the heels of its first, sold-out engagement at Cabaret Jazz at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, Reckless In Vegas announces its next Cabaret Jazz show. On Friday, Oct. 30, at 8 p.m., the unique power trio invites the public to don its best 1950s and 60s-era fashions for a spirited costume contest to take place throughout the evening’s performance.

Deirdre Clemente, fashion history expert and associate director, public history program, University of Nevada, Las Vegas will judge the contest. The first-place winner will receive $250, the second-place winner will receive $150 and the third-place winner will receive a Reckless In Vegas swag bag.

Reckless In Vegas combines the imagery, banter and classic music from the 1960s “glory days” of Las Vegas with a contemporary rock band aesthetic. It’s not just a band—members Michael Shapiro (band founder, lead vocals, guitar), Ryan Low, aka Dr. Fu (drums, vocals) and Chris Nichols (bass, vocals) have created an exciting show that incorporates their live performances of modern versions of songs by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis, Sonny & Cher, Frankie Valli, Neil Diamond, Johnny Cash and Bobby Darin with dynamic production-show elements. Whether you remember the swinging Vegas lounge era days or were born later, Reckless In Vegas has something for everyone. Video montages, dialogue, humor, modern hard-rocking grooves and tender moments of balladry combine to create a truly original take on this classic genre. Think The Rat Pack meets Green Day.

“Playing Cabaret Jazz at The Smith Center for the first time is a thrill for us,” says Shapiro. “Its classic showroom vibe complements our show perfectly—we can’t wait to see our fans and make new ones in such a distinctive environment.”

About Michael Shapiro
Shapiro was raised in Las Vegas and, after a stint in California, came back to his old hometown earlier this year. He picked up his first guitar at age 13 and trained hard in guitar, vocals, piano and trumpet, attuning his ear to classical opera as well as rock. A chance encounter with a family friend struck the right chord and paved Shapiro’s way into music. At age 16, he had the opportunity to jam with Bruce Springsteen. The rocker’s energetic marathon performances spurred Shapiro to develop a taste for a raucous stage presence. After stints in various cover bands in his teens, Shapiro formed the band Trip, released a few CD’s and toured. Being part of the VH1 Rock Across America Tour, Trip opened for such artists as Edwin McCain, Duncan Sheik, The Romantics and Cheap Trick. It was during an ill-fated gig opening for Great White when a tragic fire struck, that moved Shapiro to deeply reflect on life’s vagaries and whims.

He bounced back, releasing his first solo album, Somehow, Someway, and toured nationally, opening for the band Live. After moving to San Rafael, Calif., he formed the power trio, Reckless in Vegas.

Shapiro’s style yields insight into his influences: Jimi Hendrix’s relentless guitar riffs, Journey’s Neal Schon, Carlos Santana and the melodic and powerful vocal styling of U2′s Bono. In fact, it is “Hendrix’s bluesy style” and wild “manipulation of the guitar” that Shapiro credits as a major early influence.

About Ryan Low
Born in Chinatown, San Francisco, Low is a high visibility drummer who is remarkable not only for his showmanship, distinctive and varying styles and driving rhythm, but also for how often he is seen playing with various artists. Low’s unique approach and explosive energy onstage brings him to the forefront of Reckless In Vegas’ performances. Besides being a performer and session player, Low is a committed teacher of drums and music. He applies his classical music training to his teaching, along with his love and passion for drumming. Although Low is a true lover of rock and funk drumming, he has explored a variety of musical styles from hip-hop to country, Latin jazz to R&B. He is always up for a challenge to expand his musical repertoire. Over the last 20 years, Low has performed everywhere west of the Rockies, and remains a solid Bay Area performer. He also has extensive recording experience, with almost 13 records under his belt to date. He has expanded his drumming credentials by working as co-producer on one of his recent projects.

About Chris Nichols
Born in Newark, Ohio, as the son of a piano teacher, Nichols studied the piano, cello, guitar, drums and bass.  His early years led him to Nashville where he toured with several artists throughout the nation. His desire to “Go West” led him to Las Vegas when the mob still owned the town. He saw the Sands and the Dunes casinos fall to their demise. Since moving to Sin City, he has recorded on several records both as an artist and an engineer.  Nichols actually shared the stage with Shapiro in Trip as they ascended to the height of that band’s career. With the help of several bands, he has also shared stages with Willie Nelson, Chris Isaak, Toto, Peter Frampton, Rick James and Lifehouse, to name just a few.

Tickets for “An Evening with Reckless In Vegas” start at $35 and are available at The Smith Center Box Office, located at 361 Symphony Park Avenue, by phone at (702) 749-2000 or (808) 326-6868 (TTY) and online at www.TheSmithCenter.com. Photos/Video: Priscilla Presley And Lisa Marie Presley Celebrate The Return Of The King To Las Vegas

westgate las vegas

 graceland

On the 59th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s first Las Vegas performance, Graceland is opening the doors to a multi-faceted, authentic Elvis experience that showcases the man, the performer and the music that revolutionized popular culture around the world.“Graceland Presents ELVIS: The Exhibition – The Show – The Experience” is now open at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, the same hotel where Elvis performed more than 600 record-breaking, sold-out shows between 1969 and 1976 when it was the International Hotel and then Las Vegas Hilton.

Priscilla Presley and Lisa Marie Presley presided over a formal “blue suede” ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil their personal treasures from the family archives, from rarely seen artifacts including Elvis’ personal television remote from his Graceland bedroom to Lisa Marie’s baby shoes. Priscilla served as the matron of honor for the first wedding in Elvis Presley’s Graceland Wedding Chapel, and tonight, she and Lisa Marie will hold a VIP red carpet gala for the debut of the “Elvis Experience” musical production that embodies the spirit of the king himself.

“Just think, it was 59 years ago today that Elvis performed his first show in Las Vegas,” said Priscilla Presley. “Elvis loved Las Vegas and he loved his fans – he would be the first to welcome you to this great exhibition of his life. Lisa and I are so happy to share these wonderful artifacts from our family with you and are thrilled to bring the authentic Elvis back to Las Vegas for the first time in 40 years.”

FIRST PERMANENT ELVIS EXHIBITION OUTSIDE OF GRACELAND

The first-ever permanent Elvis exhibition outside of Graceland encompasses more than 28,000 square feet and includes hundreds of artifacts from the Presley family’s treasured Graceland Archives. The exhibition takes visitors on an unprecedented journey through Elvis’ life and career, beginning with his early days in Tupelo, Mississippi through his first recording session in Memphis, rise to fame, Hollywood career, life at Graceland, the Las Vegas years and more. Graceland-produced videos immerse guests in the experience, concluding with a 26-minute retrospective film featuring Elvis’ greatest performances. Select artifacts will be rotated regularly with artifacts from the Graceland Archives to ensure the exhibit is constantly evolving and remains fresh. The exhibition is open seven days a week from 10 am to 10 pm.  Tickets are priced at $22 plus taxes and fees, and are available for purchase at Graceland.com/Vegas.

Exhibition Highlights:

  • Tupelo and Memphis. This collection of artifacts follows Elvis’ humble beginnings in Tupelo, Mississippi to his family’s move to Memphis, where Elvis’ discovery of gospel blues would influence his music and drive his rock & roll sound. Guests can peruse family portraits; the Presley family bible; Elvis’ 1950 and 1952 high school yearbooks, and graduation tassel; his mother Gladys’ poodle purse, dress shoes and social security card; family loan papers; and paystubs from Elvis’ first job as a delivery truck driver for Crown Electric.

  • Elvis Mania. In 1956, Elvis released his first album on the RCA recording label and appeared on a variety of nationally televised shows, including the Ed Sullivan show. This is the same year that Elvis first graced the silver screen in his acting debut, “Love Me Tender,” and had a No. 1 hit by the same name. The Elvis Mania exhibit documents this rise to fame including personal copies of his first singles on the Sun record label,1955 RCA contract, a variety of Elvis Presley collectibles, his custom leather guitar case, the gold record for his eponymous first album, and wardrobe pieces from “Jailhouse Rock,” which was released in 1957.

  • Elvis in the Army. From 1958 to 1960, Elvis took a break from his singing and acting career and proudly served his country n the U.S. Army. This marks a particularly poignant time in his life, as he met his future wife – Priscilla Beaulieu – while stationed in Germany. Guests in this exhibit see Elvis’ army fatigues, fan letters, a check written to Moulin Rouge from his time on leave in Paris, and iconic photos of his famous military haircut at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas.

  • At the young age of 22, Elvis purchased his first home where he would live with his mother, father and grandmother. A 17,000-square-foot property sitting on 13 acres, Graceland was a place where Elvis could relax and get away from his busy life as a singer and actor. Later in life, Priscilla and Elvis would marry and raise their daughter Lisa Marie at Graceland, a home Elvis vowed to never sell. Today, Graceland is visited by hundreds of thousands of people every year. At the Las Vegas exhibit one area that showcases Elvis’ Memphis home allows guests to see baby Lisa Marie’s footprints and baby shoes, a silver tray etched with Elvis and Priscilla’s photo on their wedding day, their wedding china and more.

  • Elvis in Hollywood. Between 1958and 1968, Elvis left live performance touring to serve in the U.S. Army and then focus on his movie career, starring in 31 feature films – such as “Jailhouse Rock,” “King Creole,” “Viva Las Vegas” and “Blue Hawaii” – and two theatrical musical documentaries, including Golden Globe winner “Elvis on Tour.”  This exhibit features a collection of scripts, movie posters, a pair of coveralls worn in “Viva Las Vegas,” his bomber jacket from “It Happened at the World’s Fair” and more.

  • Elvis in Las Vegas. For Elvis’ first stint in Las Vegas at the New Frontier in April 1956, Colonel Parker billed him as the “Atomic-Powered Singer.” This title would prove true as Elvis signed a deal with the International Hotel in 1969 and became the reigning king of live entertainment in Las Vegas, breaking all box office records for the city. Guests exploring Elvis’ Las Vegas history can see iconic stage costumes from Elvis’ live performances, Priscilla’s dress from Elvis’ opening night at the International Hotel, the suit Elvis wore when signing his 1969 contract, and never-before-displayed advertisements placed by Parker throughout the city from bus stops to billboards. Of particular note is the gold-plated belt encrusted with diamonds, rubies and sapphires that Elvis received in 1969 for breaking Las Vegas breaking box office records and later wore for a meeting with President Nixon in the Oval Office; and a contract written by Parker on a table cloth – complete with coffee stains – when owners of the International Hotel agreed to initial terms on Elvis’ long-term engagement.

  • Elvis on the Road. Even before he became the king of rock & roll, Elvis loved anything with a motor that moved fast. This would become a theme in his life especially after he achieved fame. It’s estimated that Elvis purchased more than 200 cars – some for family and friends, others for strangers and dozens for himself – including Cadillacs, Rolls Royces, Mercedes and Harley Davidson motorcycles. Elvis was often behind the wheel driving his band members for early tours and cross-country trips. Guests to this exhibit can view cars from Elvis’ collection, including a 1957 Harley Davidson motorcycle, 1962 Lincoln Continental and the1971 prototype Stutz Blackhawk delivered to Elvis at the International Hotel.

  • 1968 Comeback Special. After an eight-year hiatus from live musical performances, Elvis took to the stage once again for a concert taped on NBC’s Burbank lot dubbed the “1968 Comeback Special.” Elvis reenergized his singing career performing a collection of classic hits and new material for the TV special, which was NBC’s highest rated show of the year, priming Elvis for his Las Vegas run. The exhibit space documenting this performance includes Elvis’ iconic “If I Can Dream” white suit, and the blue chair used in the sit-down jam sessions in the special.

ELVIS PRESLEY’S GRACELAND WEDDING CHAPEL

Elvis Presley’s Graceland Wedding Chapel at the Westgate is the first chapel outside of Graceland to be operated by Elvis Presley Enterprises. Couples can be joined together in an atmosphere of southern hospitality unique to the Graceland experience.

Winners of a nationwide contest by NBC’s Today Show, Kaycee Satava and Cameron Baker, were the first couple to be married at Elvis Presley’s Graceland Wedding Chapel the morning of April 23, with Priscilla Presley serving as matron of honor. Kaycee became an Elvis fan as a child, when she would listen to his music and watch his movies as she took medication for a health condition that forced her to be immobile for long periods of time.

Wedding and vow renewal packages for Elvis Presley’s Graceland Wedding Chapel have been specially designed to bring the authentic and memorable Graceland wedding experience to Las Vegas. For information on booking the chapel for a wedding or vow renewal ceremony, visit Graceland.com/Vegas.

Graceland Holdings LLC Managing Partner Joel Weinshanker and Westgate Resorts CEO David Siegel together made the historic announcement that Elvis will be back in the building, and unveiled specific details of the upcoming exhibition and entertainment, which are scheduled to debut April 23, 2015. The press conference took place on the 46th anniversary of Elvis’ first press event at the construction site of the same venue, then known as the International Hotel, where Elvis performed over 600 record-breaking, sold-out shows.

The first-ever permanent Graceland exhibition outside of Memphis will encompass over 28,000 square feet and include hundreds of artifacts from the Presley family’s treasured Graceland Archives, showcasing the man, the performer and the music that revolutionized popular culture around the world. Visitors will experience an unprecedented journey through Elvis’ life and career, beginning with his early days in Tupelo, Miss., through his first recording session in Memphis, rise to fame, Hollywood career, life at Graceland, the Las Vegas years and more. Graceland-produced videos will immerse guests in the experience, concluding with a 26-minute retrospective film featuring Elvis’ greatest performances.

Some of the rare artifacts include Elvis’ high school yearbooks, his first Gold Album, his 1957 Harley Davidson motorcycle, a 1962 Lincoln Continental, 1971 Stutz Blackhawk, jewelry and iconic stage wear from Elvis’ live performances, including the first outfit worn on stage for his first concert at the International Hotel in 1969. Select artifacts will be rotated regularly with artifacts in the Graceland Archives, to keep the exhibit constantly evolving and fresh. The exhibition will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and tickets are priced at $22 plus taxes and fees, and available for purchase now.

The newly renamed and renovated Elvis Presley International Showroom will present Elvis-themed live shows for limited engagement runs on the very stage where Elvis performed for millions of guests during his record-breaking, seven-year stint from 1969 through 1976. The debut show will be “The Elvis Experience,” a large-scale production replicating one of Elvis’ legendary Las Vegas shows, starring actor Martin Fontaine and featuring 24 musicians and eight choir members portraying the original musicians and artists on stage with Elvis. The Elvis Experience is scheduled to open with the exhibition on April 23 and perform Tuesdays through Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and start at $49 plus taxes and fees. Bennett’s show takes the audience on a journey through Elvis’s career, including “The King’s” introduction to the entertainment world in the ‘50s, the famous 1968 television appearance that marked Elvis’s return to live performances, and the concert years – symbolized by the powerful vocals, high energy stage performances and the legendary jumpsuits.

4th Annual Las Vegas Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest
Returns to Fremont Street Experience

Elvis tribute artists to compete in the Las Vegas preliminary round May 10 and 11
for a chance to become the ultimate “King of Rock `n’ Roll” in Memphis during Elvis Week 2013

Well it’s one for the money, two for the show, and three to get ready as the 4th Annual Las Vegas Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest returns to Fremont Street Experience. The contest, which takes place on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11 from 8 p.m. to midnight on the 1st Street Stage, is hosted by Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. (EPE), Las Vegas’ famed Fremont Street Experience and the world’s greatest live tribute show “Legends in Concert” celebrating its 30th birthday.

“Elvis had a unique connection to Vegas that still endures today. This event is a testament to his legacy and the caliber of performers we feature every year is truly incredible,” said Jeff Victor, president of Fremont Street Experience. “If you are looking for a great time filled with fabulous music we invite everyone to put on their blue suede shoes and watch some of the best Elvis tribute artists compete for the chance to advance to Elvis Week in Memphis.”

The competition will kick-off each night with special presentations on the Viva Vision canopy and a parade of Elvi. The event is open free to the public, although VIP seating for both nights will also be available directly in front of the stage for $20 per person. VIP is limited and seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

The contest serves as a preliminary round for the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest which takes place in Memphis during Elvis Week, giving tribute artists a chance to become the ultimate “King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.” The winner of this year’s preliminary round in Las Vegas will proceed to the semifinals during Elvis Week 2013.

“These competitions are a great opportunity for all levels of tribute artists to showcase their talents to a large crowd, in a very professional setting. Add in Legends in Concert and EPE’s involvement, and it is truly a fabulous platform for the competitors to shine,” said Brian Brigner, chief operating officer of On Stage.

Contestants in the Las Vegas Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest will be judged on the best ‘representation of the Elvis legacy’ in vocals, style, stage wear, and stage presence. Judges will consist of Las Vegas industry experts as well as individuals instrumental in Elvis’ life, including long-time girlfriend Linda Thompson and personal bodyguard Sam Thompson. The winner of the contest qualifies to compete in The 2013 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest presented by EPE in Memphis during Elvis Week. Elvis Week 2013 will be Aug. 10-17 at Graceland in Memphis. In addition, the winner of Las Vegas’ Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist contest preliminary round will take home a $2,500 cash prize and a Graceland getaway prize package.

Previous winners of the Las Vegas Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest have proven to be strong competitors during Elvis Week in Memphis. The 2010 winner, Justin Shandor, went on to take first place in the international competition in Memphis during Elvis Week 2010. Last year’s winner, Victor Trevino Jr., took second place during Elvis Week 2012.

“Since hosting the first Las Vegas preliminary round three years ago, we are proud to have picked two top-placing champions to represent Las Vegas during the finals competition in Memphis. We wish this year’s competitors luck as we set out to find the next Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist to continue to carry out that legacy,” added Victor.

On Stage Touring, a subsidiary of On Stage Entertainment and creators of the world’s longest-running celebrity tribute show, has been officially licensed by EPE to produce preliminary contests at “Legends in Concert” venues and other locations throughout the country, including Las Vegas.

Legends will again furnish one of the Grand Prizes for the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest winner, the opportunity to sign a performance contract with Legends in Concert. Also provided will be a cash prize of $20,000, recognition by EPE, the title of Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist of 2013, and selection of other valuable prizes.

Launched in August of 2007, the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest in Memphis is one of the highlights of Elvis Week activities, which attracts more than 70,000 fans from all over the world.

“The 2013 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest will be the largest to date with more contestants competing than ever before. There is no doubt that with Elvis’ connection to Vegas, that the Fremont Street Experience preliminary round will surely be a coveted title for the winner,” Brigner said.

Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art in Las Vegas Debuts “Warhol Out West”

New Exhibition Showcases 56 Works  From The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh

Andy Warhol once said, “The idea of waiting for something makes it more exciting.” Now, the wait is officially over as one of Las Vegas’ premier cultural destinations, Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art (BGFA) debuts today its highly anticipated exhibition, “Warhol Out West.”

Organized in partnership with The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, this pioneering collection is centered around the iconic artist’s depiction of all things Western. “Warhol Out West” features 56 of Warhol’s works including paintings, sculptures, photographs, screen prints and wallpaper. Exhibits include Warhol’s 1960s Pop paintings of celebrities and consumer products; the 1980s advertisement series; the beloved “Double Elvis” painting; and his rarely seen “Cowboys and Indians” series.

“Our exhibit at Bellagio is the only comprehensive Andy Warhol collection in the United States outside of his namesake museum in Pittsburgh and we recognize what a tremendous honor this is for our city,” said Tarissa Tiberti, executive director of BGFA. “Everywhere you look in Las Vegas, you can see the impact of Warhol’s creative genius and it is remarkable how his life and art continue to transcend generations.”

One of the most influential artists in the visual art movement known as Pop Art, Warhol based his creative depiction of celebrity, advertisements, comic books and brand products within the realm of popular culture.

Eric Shiner, director of The Andy Warhol Museum, said, “We hope visitors to the gallery think about the relationship of the images in front of them with the landscape of Las Vegas, from the kitsch to the fabulous and everything in between. As Las Vegas is key to understanding America, there is no better place than Bellagio for us to share our Andy Warhol artworks. Whether Elvis, Liz, Campbell’s Soup or a Brillo Box, Warhol’s subjects represent America in all of its many guises.”

“Warhol Out West” is on view through October 27, 2013. Tickets are $16 for general admission; $13 for Nevada residents and seniors 65 and older; and $11 for students, teachers and military with valid ID. Children 12 and younger are free. Tickets and information are available by calling (702) 693-7871 or (877) 957-9777, or online at bellagio.com Audio tours are included in the price of admission and complimentary docent tours are available daily at 2 p.m.  BGFA is open daily 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Last admissions are sold 30 minutes prior to closing.

The Mirage Volcano to host Las Vegas Marathon’s Run-Thru Wedding Ceremony this Sunday

Rock ‘n’ Roll Runners in Love to Marry in Run-Thru
Wedding Ceremony At The Mirage Volcano

Providing an ‘only in Las Vegas’ experience, The Mirage Volcano at The Mirage Hotel & Casino will serve as the official venue for couples marrying or renewing their vows at a Run-Thru Wedding Ceremony during the Zappos.com Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon & Half Marathon to benefit the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America. The unforgettable three-minute nuptials will take place at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4 while overlooking The Strip’s iconic fiery attraction that mirrors the intense love of each couple, creating an unforgettable wedding moment.

For the first time in the event’s history, the race will take place in the evening, giving participants the opportunity to experience the Las Vegas Strip’s world-famous neon lights. This provides the ideal setting for the run-thru wedding to be held alongside the tropical lagoon in front of The Mirage Volcano. The ceremony’s finale will be punctuated by massive fireballs shooting more than 12 feet into the air against the night sky.

The Run-Thru Wedding Ceremony will take place at Mile Two on the half-marathon course and family, friends and the public are welcome to celebrate the on-the-run couples in a designated viewing area. Although quick, the three-minute ceremony allows couples to declare their love and still keep pace during the marathon. More than 100 couples are already registered for the event, including those new to wedded bliss and others returning to renew their vows, in what is expected to be the largest turnout for the popular race feature.

For additional information or to register for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Run-Thru Wedding Ceremony, please visit www.StripatNight.com

In addition to the run-thru wedding, the Zappos.com Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon is known for live entertainment along the route, pre- and post-event parties and the largest group of runners dressed as Elvis creating a fun and unique party atmosphere. With more than 44,000 runners registered, the 2011 Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon is set to become the largest nighttime running event in the world.

El Cortez Hotel & Casino Hosts Classic Car Show Fourth of July Weekend

El Cortez Hotel & Casino Hosts Classic Car Show Fourth of July Weekend

El Cortez Hotel & Casino will celebrate Independence Day weekend with a classic car show, live bands and delicious eats from Engine 1 Pizza at the Jackie Gaughan Parkway on Sunday, July 3 from 1 to 6 p.m.

The free event is open to the public and will showcase approximately 60 American-made, classic cars, courtesy of Ultracar LTD, Inc., with five of the vehicles open to guests for photo opportunities both inside and outside the car. In true “vintage Vegas” fashion, El Cortez will also have a 1963 pink Cadillac on display with an Elvis impersonator behind the wheel for photo opportunities.

“As we continue to celebrate our 70th anniversary, we felt that a classic car show in downtown Las Vegas would really generate the vintage spirit we are embracing at El Cortez,” said El Cortez General Manager Mike Nolan. “Downtown Las Vegas was once a hub for these types of events and we hope to build that identity once more in the Fremont East District.”

While the cars will provide plenty of visual pleasantries, two live bands will keep the energy going throughout the day as well. Ryan Whyte Maloney Band is an inspiring local country band trying to break the modern country music mold with infectious melodies and touching songwriting. They will be followed by the Freddie Eckstein Group which provides a unique jazz experience that is sure to have guests tapping their feet and ready to dance along with the smooth rhythms.

In addition to a cash bar serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, Engine 1 Pizza will be on location throughout the day with their delicious menu selections available for purchase. The mobile pizza oven is well known for their custom pizzas, which are handmade with fresh ingredients, such as the basil used in their legendary homemade pesto. The Engine 1 menu includes classic pizzas, artisan pizzas, breaded mozzarella sticks, breaded zucchini sticks, seasoned sweet potato fries, breaded mushrooms and boneless Buffalo wings.
