Don’s hometown of New Rochelle, New York set to honor Don on March 21, along with an appearance on BBC’s Breakfast News March 15 with more BBC Radio interviews this week and major media appearances scheduled in New York City March 21 & 22.

 Iconic American singer, songwriter and performer Don McLean is set to release his new album Botanical Gardens on March 23, 2018 via BMG.

Don is set to appear on BBC Breakfast Thursday, March 15 along with multiple BBC radio stations and Absolute Radio in the U.K.

“Greetings from London where we are promoting my new album ‘Botanical Gardens’, said McLean. “The reception has been wonderful and I look forward to coming to New York next, where we will perform at City Winery on Friday the 23rd! On March 21, Don’s hometown of New Rochelle, New York will have its own piece of “American Pie” when the world-renowned singer and songwriter will dedicate his existing plaque at the city’s Walk of Fame in Ruby Dee Park at Library Green. The ceremony is open to the public, beginning at 4 PM, and will be hosted by Jennifer Lanser, Executive Director of the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce. With over 40 gold and platinum records worldwide, his prowess for writing timeless songs is once again captured on Botanical Gardens, as he artfully weaves country, Americana, folk, and boot stomping rock for an eclectic, yet American sound that he is known for.

Botanical Gardens, his 19th studio album and first in 8 years, is arguably one of Don’s most reflective to date. As he characterizes it, “The inspiration for the project started years ago when I would walk in the beautiful gardens in Sydney, Australia near the Opera House. I would dream young dreams and it was a comfort and an inspiration. I was always young inside, like we all are, and I felt it again there.” Further reflecting on the record, Don says, “the whole album really revolves around the title song. Later on I realized that the gardens are really a metaphorical heaven, and there’s a kind of death and rebirth.

Intimacy can be found at the heart of this record, with Don penning personal numbers looking back on a life well-lived, as well as his observations on youth and love. Recording at Watershed Studios in Nashville also allowed a different kind of intimacy for Don and his band, as they were made to “play close and feel the music”, resulting in a raw, yet tight sound throughout.

In nearly 50 years, Don’s songs have become an iconic staple of American music. His music has been performed by artists as diverse as Elvis Presley, Madonna, Fred Astaire, Drake, James Blake, Ellie Goulding, Chet Atkins, Garth Brooks, Weird Al Yankovic, George Michael, Josh Groban, Coolio and Ed Sheeran.

The initial six nominees for the 2014 Milestone Award presented by Chevrolet included Imagine Dragons, John Legend, Luke Bryan, OneRepublic, Ellie Goulding and Carrie Underwood. The six nominees were then pared down to three finalists mid-April: Carrie Underwood, Ellie Goulding and OneRepublic. And in end, after the votes were cast, Carrie Underwood came out on top.

“Wow! I truly have the best fans in the world,” said Underwood as she accepted her award in a heartfelt speech. “I couldn’t do one one-zillionth of what I do without them.”

Starting on April 1, fans voted for their favorite nominees on Billboard.com/milestone. Voting continued all the way through 10pm ET / 9pm CT on May 18 during the live Billboard Music Awards, and culminated with the announcement of the award winner toward the end of the show presented by superstar artist, Kelly Rowland.

2014 Top New Artist finalist Ariana Grande has had a monumental year. Her single “Problem,” which she will perform at the awards show with Iggy Azalea, just earned the biggest debut of the year, selling 438,000 downloads in its first week. It debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Digital Songs chart and No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 – the highest debut of the year on both charts. At 20-years old, Grande also became the youngest woman to debut with more than 400,000 downloads. “Problem” is the first single off her upcoming second album, due out in the fall. Grande’s first album, “Yours Truly,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart in 2013 and spawned the No. 9 Billboard Hot 100 single “The Way.”

Derulo appeared in the 8:00 AM ET hour of “Good Morning America” today, to announce his participation as a performer in this year’s Billboard Music Awards. Derulo also announced five of the 40 finalist categories, including: Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Female Artist, Top R&B Artist, and Top Country Artist.

Finalists Imagine Dragons and Lorde lead with twelve categories each. Imagine Dragons is vying for its first Billboard Music Award this year. The quartet burned up the charts in 2013 with its album “Night Visions” (which is also a finalist for Top Rock Album) and its many hit singles. Among those is the smash hit “Radioactive,” which broke the record for the most weeks ever on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Lorde broke through in 2013 as well with her inescapable No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 single “Royals” and debut album “Pure Heroine.” The two musical acts go head-to-head in nine categories, including Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Digital Songs Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Rock Artist, Top Rock Album, Top Hot 100 Song, Top Digital Song, Top Streaming Song (Audio), and Top Rock Song.

Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis follow with 11, 10 and 8 categories respectively. Justin Timberlake could capture his first Billboard Music Award this year as a solo artist. Included in his 11 categories, are Top Artist and Top Billboard 200 Album. With the group ‘N Sync, Timberlake earned five Billboard Music Awards, including the 2000 trophy for Album of the Year (“No Strings Attached”). Katy Perry is already a three-time Billboard Music Award winner, with the 2011 Top Hot 100 Artist and the Top Digital Songs Artist, and the 2012 Spotlight Award, honoring her achievement as the first woman to earn five No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart from one album (“Teenage Dream”). Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are also past winners, receiving Top Rap Song at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.

Fans can vote for their favorite Milestone artist online and enter a contest for a chance to win an opportunity to present the award live at this year’s event alongside global music superstar and Billboard Music Award winner Kelly Rowland.

The special editorial award will be given to an innovative artist who has achieved a notable chart milestone over the past year. The six finalists for the 2014 Milestone Award presented by Chevrolet were announced today on Billboard.com – they are: Imagine Dragons, John Legend, Luke Bryan, OneRepublic, Ellie Goulding and Carrie Underwood.

“I’m really looking forward to presenting the Chevrolet Milestone Award at this year’s Billboard Music Awards. I love being able to recognize fellow artists for their accomplishments and having the opportunity to present with a fan will make the evening that much more exciting!” said Kelly Rowland.

Voting is now open on Billboard.com/milestone. The six finalists will be narrowed down to three finalists, who will be announced on the website on April 21st. Voting will then continue through the first two hours of the live 2014 Billboard Music Awards broadcast, culminating with the announcement of the award winner during the last hour of the show.

Fans have the opportunity to enter a contest on Billboard.com/milestone for a chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to present the Milestone Award live on the 2014 Billboard Music Awards alongside superstar Kelly Rowland. The prize includes two tickets to the show, hotel accommodations and airfare. To enter, fans must submit a photo along with an essay about why they think they should present the award.
