COUNTRY SUPERSTAR DUO BIG & RICH TO HEADLINE RIAA/MUSICIANS ON CALL INAUGURAL BENEFIT

Country music superstar act Big & Rich will be the headlining entertainment at the Recording Industry Association of America’s (RIAA) second-ever inauguration charity event benefiting Musicians On Call. The hit duo will perform their set at the 9:30 Club the evening of the presidential inauguration on Friday, January 20, 2017.

Comprised of Big Kenny and “Celebrity Apprentice” winner John Rich, Big & Rich have exerted a definitive gravitational pull to the direction modern country music has taken. Known as “America’s Technicolor cowboys,” Big & Rich have made a career of being relatable and musically relevant since exploding into the public consciousness in 2003. Their 2004 debut studio album Horse of a Different Color shot to RIAA triple-Platinum and included smash hit “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy),” while their latest album Gravity scored three back-to-back-to-back Top Ten country hits with “Look at You,” “Run Away With You,” and “Lovin’ Lately” featuring Tim McGraw. Rock in Rio USA has announced the availability of single day general admission tickets for the upcoming festival taking place May 8-9, 15-16 in Las Vegas.  Starting today, single day general admission tickets will be available for $169 for each date at rockinrio.com/tickets, while supplies last. Rock in Rio will take over the Las Vegas Strip on May 8-9, 15-16. The first weekend, dedicated to rock music, will feature No Doubt, Metallica, Linkin Park, Maná, The Pretty Reckless, and Hollywood Undead on the Main Stage. Mercedes Benz Evolution Stage performers for the first weekend include Foster the People, Deftones, Sepultura (featuring Steve Vai), Gary Clark Jr, Bleachers, Coheed and Cambria, Saints of Valory, Smallpools and Of Mice & Men.

The City of Rock in Las Vegas will also feature three Rock Streets – themed streets that will welcome attendees to experience an entirely new and exciting kind of music festival, and to enjoy the eclectic cultures of the U.S., the UK and Brazil.

Each street has 20 houses filled with shops and restaurants, along with a stage where bands and artists will perform throughout the day. Street artists and performers will also transform the street into their own stage, interacting and connecting with the audience in an intimate environment. Rock Street will open daily at 3 PM, with concerts and performances taking place until 1:30 AM when doors close.

The City of Rock, an open-air concert venue, will be located on The Strip near the corner of Sahara Avenue and spread out over 40 acres.  With a capacity of 85,000 people per day, the venue will also include a ferris wheel and a 64 foot high zip line that stretches 600 feet across in front of the Main Stage, which is 262 feet long. The venue also includes a VIP area that can accommodate up to 4,000 people, featuring air conditioning, an all-inclusive buffet, an open bar (certain premium liquors available for additional purchase) and a unique view of the City of Rock.

Doors for the City of Rock open at 3pm and close at 1:30 AM; the Sunset Stage and the three Rock Streets start their performances at 3:30 PM and the Main Stage opens at 5:30 PM.

Tickets for the upcoming Rock in Rio USA festival in Las Vegas in May are on sale at rockinrio.com/tickets with general admission weekend passes available for $298, single day general admission passes available for $169 (while supplies last) and single day VIP passes available for $498. General admission and VIP passes provide access to more than 10 hours of music and entertainment each day, as well as all attractions inside the venue. Re-entry is allowed once each day – wristbands must be scanned upon exit at the gate in order to re-enter that same day.  Rock in Rio today announced transportation options for the inaugural Rock in Rio USA music festival taking place May 8-9 and 15-16 in Las Vegas. Working closely with local Las Vegas authorities, Rock in Rio has developed a plan to provide convenient access for festival attendees at a minimal impact to local residents and tourists.

With no parking allowed in the area surrounding the venue, attendees are encouraged to arrive each day by the Las Vegas Monorail, shuttle or foot:

  • Las Vegas Monorail – Rock in Rio and the Las Vegas Monorail established a partnership and have developed customized schedules for the Monorail in order to maximize capacity and minimize wait times. For those arriving from other locations on The Strip, the venue is conveniently located a short walk from the SLS Las Vegas and Westgate Las Vegas Monorail stops. The Las Vegas Monorail operates from 7 AM until 3 AM, with options of single ride ($5), 24-hour ($12) and 2-day passes ($22.00), but a temporary discount is available for all multiple day passes from two to seven days on https://tickets.lvmonorail.com/rockinriousa2015/.
  • Shuttles – Pre-paid shuttle passes are available, offering attendees a quick, comfortable ride to the event.  Shuttles will pick up from three locations: the MGM Resorts Village across from Luxor and Mandalay Bay, the Downtown Events Center  and the World Market Center. All Shuttles will drop guests off at the conveniently located Gold Lot at the Las Vegas Convention Center, which is a short walk to the venue entrance. Return shuttle service will be available from the Gold Lot at the Las Vegas Convention Center to all three pick up locations. Shuttles to the venue will run each day from 2:30 PM until 11 PM, with return service running 10 PM until 2:30 AM. 2-day shuttle passes are available for $25.
  • Pedestrian Traffic – For attendees staying within a 15 to 20 minute walking distance of the venue, walking is recommended for venue access. Pedestrian entrances will be easily accessible from Las Vegas Boulevard.

Absolutely no parking will be available at the venue and road closures surrounding the festival will require access by one of the above recommended transportation methods.

  1. Part hair down the center to the nape of the neck, and wind one side into a bun and fasten to keep out of the way.
  2. Start braiding from the nape of the neck and keep working until you reach the top side of your head and you have braided all of the hair that is not in the bun, secure with a clear elastic. Rather than pass sections of hair over the middle strand like with a French braid, pass sections under the middle strand. This will create an “inside out” braid.  Use Redken Braid Aid 03 braid defining lotion, coming to salons in April, to help keep the sections clean and easy to work with. Take hair out of the bun and repeat the same steps on this side.
  3. When you have two long braids, add a touch of Redken Powder Grip 03 mattifying hair powder to the ends, and pull edges of the braids gently to make them wider.
  4. Wrap braids on their sides around the top of your head to create your crown, and secure to top of the head with long French hair pins or bobby pins matching your hair color.

This year, in its first week, “1989” sold 1.287 million copies, making it the highest selling album released in 2014. Swift is the first recipient of the Dick Clark Award for Excellence, given to an artist who achieves a groundbreaking feat or creates a landmark work.  It is to be bestowed upon someone whose spirit and excellence capture the visionary passion that Dick Clark himself incorporated into everything he did.

Clark, the creator of the 42-year-old American Music Awards, influenced popular music in America for six decades. He was known for maintaining a standard of excellence both in the shows he produced and in the talent that he showcased. Simultaneously “America’s Oldest Teenager” and the most trusted name in music, Clark was responsible for the first TV appearances of many superstars including Michael Jackson, Madonna and Prince. Taylor Swift, who also made her debut on a Dick Clark Production show, will be honored with this prestigious award with Clark’s wife, Kari, in the audience, along with a theatre full of stars who grew up on Clark’s programs. The 2014 American Music Award nominations were announced last month, revealing six nominations for Iggy Azalea–the most of any artist.  Other top contenders include John Legend, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams, who each earned five nominations, and Lorde who earned four.

As always at the American Music Awards, artists will be honored in the genres of Pop/Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Alternative Rock, Adult Contemporary, Latin, Contemporary Inspirational, Electronic Dance Music, as well as categories for Top Soundtrack, New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl’s, Artist of the Year and Single of the Year. American Music Awards nominees are based on key fan interactions as reflected in Billboard Magazine and on Billboard.com, including album and digital singles sales, radio airplay, streaming and social activity. These measurements are tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Entertainment and Next Big Sound.

The American Music Awards is voted on by the fans. Winners will be determined through online and Twitter voting.  Voting began on October 13 for all categories except New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl’s. Fans can vote once per day at the Coca-Cola AMA voting site, AMAvote.com, as well as once per day via Twitter by including the nominee’s name, category name and #AMAs within a tweet.

Voting for New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl’s opened on November 1 and will remain open throughout the first hour of the ABC live broadcast on November 23, with the winner being announced in the final hour. Fans can vote via AMAVote.com and Twitter.

Preceding the ABC broadcast for the 6th consecutive year will be the “Coca-Cola Red Carpet LIVE! @ The 2014 AMAs” pre-show. The show will be hosted by Lance Bass, Chelsea Briggs, Kandi Burruss, Gavin DeGraw, Franke Grande, Taryn Manning, Jordin Sparks, Morgan Stewart and Ted Stryker, and will feature performances by this year’s hottest emerging artists including Becky G, Ella Henderson, Katy Tiz, Mary Lambert and R5. Live coverage will stream online for fans worldwide starting at 5:00 p.m. ET / 2:00 p.m. PT on November 23.  The live stream can be watched at ABC.com, TheAMAs.com and yahoo.com.
