The editorial award will be given to an artist who has accomplished an outstanding and rare achievement on the Billboard music charts over the past year. The three finalists for the 2015 Billboard Chart Achievement Award Presented by Samsung were announced on April 7th along with the rest of this year’s finalists. The finalists are:

Taylor Swift: Swift’s 1989 debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with the biggest sales week for an album since 2002 (1.287 million copies). With that, Swift is the only act with three million-selling weeks since Nielsen Music began tracking sales in 1991.

Iggy Azalea: Azalea tied The Beatles as the only acts to rank at Nos. 1 and 2 simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 with their first two hits when “Fancy” topped the chart and her featured turn on Ariana Grande’s “Problem” took the runner-up slot.

Meghan Trainor: Trainor’s Title album earned the biggest sales debut on the Billboard 200 for a female pop artist’s first full-length album in over five years.

The Billboard Chart Achievement Award presented by Samsung is the only fan-voted category at the “2015 Billboard Music Awards.” Fans can vote for their favorite finalist in any of these three ways:

Billboard and dick clark productions announced today that music superstar Britney Spears will return to the global television stage for a must-see performance of her new single, “Pretty Girls” featuring Iggy Azalea on the “2015 Billboard Music Awards.”  The two singers join an already star-studded lineup of previously announced musical performers that includes Kelly Clarkson, Fall Out Boy featuring Wiz Khalifa, Hozier, Nick Jonas, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, and Meghan Trainor & John Legend.  This year’s show will be hosted by Ludacris and Chrissy Teigen and broadcast LIVE from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 17, on ABC from 8:00 PM–11:00 PM ET.

  • In the past year, Iggy Azalea became the first act since The Beatles to chart at Nos. 1 and 2 simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with their first two hits. Those songs — “Fancy,” and Ariana Grande’s “Problem,” featuring Azalea — were the first of six top 40 hits for the rapper, who later scored with tracks like “Black Widow” and “Beg for It.” When Azalea’s debut album The New Classic debuted on the Billboard 200 chart, it was the highest-charting rap album by a woman in nearly three years.  This year, Iggy is a finalist in 11 categories with 12 entries, competing against herself for Top Rap Song for her hits “Fancy” featuring Charli XCX and “Black Widow” featuring Rita Ora.

Get the hottest hairstyles from the Grammy Awards with Redken!

Our favorite celebrities rocked some of the most gorgeous hairstyles on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards last night. From elegant updos to funky braids, Rodney Cutler, Redken Brand Ambassador and Owner of Cutler/Redken Salons in NYC, has the tips on how to recreate these looks at home and the key Redken products you need to get them!

Keltie Knight: Ponytails, when done right always look good.

Keltie Knight

How to:

  1. Using only your hands, apply Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry express primer to damp hair and blowdry using a round, natural bristle brush.
  2. Once dry, use a generous amount of Redken Wind Blown 05 dry finishing spray from roots to ends to add lots of airy texture.
  3. Pull hair up into a high ponytail (using only your hands, no brush) at the crown of your head.
  4. After securing your pony, gently pull some pieces on top of your hair to create some height and texture.
  5. Using elastics that match your hair color, bind the hair every two inches. After each bind, gently pull hair in each section to create texture and width.

Jessie J: The hair style says chic, simplicity, and confidence . Simple look that every girl could do herself

Jessie J

How to:

1. Apply a nickel-size amount of Redken Satinwear 02 prepping blow-dry lotion throughout hair and blow dry smooth using a paddle brush.

2. Section by section, apply a dime-size amount Redken Short Sculpt 19 touchable texturizing gel, coming to salons in April, and comb through from roots to ends.

3. Mist hair with plenty of Redken Control Addict 28 extra high hold hairspray

4. You can use some long duckbill clips to hold hair in place while it is drying. Try not to touch until hair is completely dry!

Iggy Azalea: Daring to be different and stepping outside of the box, braids are always cool and fun.

Iggy Azalea

How to:

  1. Part hair down the center to the nape of the neck, and wind one side into a bun and fasten to keep out of the way.
  2. Start braiding from the nape of the neck and keep working until you reach the top side of your head and you have braided all of the hair that is not in the bun, secure with a clear elastic. Rather than pass sections of hair over the middle strand like with a French braid, pass sections under the middle strand. This will create an “inside out” braid.  Use Redken Braid Aid 03 braid defining lotion, coming to salons in April, to help keep the sections clean and easy to work with. Take hair out of the bun and repeat the same steps on this side.
  3. When you have two long braids, add a touch of Redken Powder Grip 03 mattifying hair powder to the ends, and pull edges of the braids gently to make them wider.
  4. Wrap braids on their sides around the top of your head to create your crown, and secure to top of the head with long French hair pins or bobby pins matching your hair color.

The show, titled “The Best Is Yet To Come,” brought the international superstar to the stage at 10:30 p.m. and capped off with a ceremonial countdown to the New Year. With only a limited number of tickets available to the public, this was the Strip’s most exclusive engagement. Featuring a cast of 25 musicians and high-energy dancers, the evening left the sold-out crowd with much to reminisce about.
Our highlight of the night: when Lopez sang her hit “If You Had My Love” which featured the showgirls of Jubilee at Bally’s. Classic!

Five Ways Iggy Azalea Transformed Drai’s Nightclub into Las Vegas’ Hottest New Year’s Eve Bash

drais

FIVE WAYS IGGY AZALEA TRANSFORMED DRAI’S NIGHTCLUB
INTO LAS VEGAS’ HOTTEST NEW YEAR’S EVE BASH

iggy

In a town jam-packed with parties, celebrities and revelry, Iggy Azalea stood high above the rest (literally—11 stories above the Strip) by hosting the first ever live New Year’s Eve concert event at Drai’s Nightclub atop The Cromwell. Transforming the nightlife venue into a full-blown live concert spectacle, Azalea gave the standing-room-only crowd a powerful dose of something fancy to start off 2015.

Just as she counted down to the stroke of midnight, we will now count what made Iggy Azalea at Drai’s Nightclub the most in-demand ticket in Vegas.

1. First Things First…

As a veteran performer at the club, Azalea has never been more at home in Las Vegas than when she’s at Drai’s. The club is perched 11 stories high atop The Cromwell and offers the best unobstructed views of the famous Las Vegas Strip, boasts a massive outdoor party haven with multiple pools and cabanas, as well as a spacious, state-of-the-art indoor adult playground where partygoers get down to beats by renowned DJs and world-class performers. The perfect setting for Azalea to ring in 2015, Drai’s Nightclub provided an unforgettable backdrop for the historic evening.

iggyiggy1iggy2

2. Pulled Up Looking Picture Perfect…

Yowza, that entrance! After getting glammed up in her room – a Boulevard Suite at The Cromwell, Azalea strutted over to Drai’s Nightclub for her takeover with boyfriend Nick Young of the LA Lakers in tow. Donning a sexy silver-to-gold fringe ombre one-piece with sparkly nude fishnet tights, I-G-G-Y has never looked better. She wore glittering heels during the midnight moment, but changed into a pair of silver over the knee boots for her performance. Way to put the cap on a successful year while kicking off the new one in style.

iggyiggy1iggy2

3. Champagne Spilling…

How many people can say they had their final seconds of 2014 boisterously celebrated by Iggy Azalea and Nick Young while everyone in the room downed a glass of champagne, then watched fireworks from the most beautiful view in all of Las Vegas high above the Strip? The full house at Drai’s Nightclub last night can. As the midnight moment neared, Azalea took over the microphone, commanded full attention of the club and led an epic midnight dance party complete with champagne showers, confetti cannons and magnificent views overlooking one of the most famous streets in the world. As fireworks danced through the sky, Azalea headed back in to prep for her big performance.

iggyiggy1

4. Let The Whole World Feel It…

Maybe not the whole world, but anyone inside Drai’s Nightclub or around The Cromwell surely felt Azalea’s one-of-a-kind presence reverberate over the Strip. Infusing every song with her signature style and energy, the crowd couldn’t help but “Bounce” around to her “Fancy” antics. Making them “Beg For It” by showcasing her top singles, Azalea belted out other fan favorites like “Black Widow” and “Work.”

iggy
5. You Already Know…

…and if not, then you should! Google just released its top trending music artists of 2014 and the highest honor can’t be Igg-nored. Leading that list is none other than the rap goddess herself – not to mention, she was also named as the sixth most searched human being for the year. Billboard also just revealed the star’s song “Fancy “was the most streamed song of the year and her album “The New Classic” was the second most streamed album in 2014. Fans who braved the chilly evening in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve and found refuge at Drai’s Nightclub got to witness one of the top names in the world up close and personal. Considering the star is about to embark on an arena tour, this more intimate live experience was a special treat for the sold-out crowd.

iggy

In true Las Vegas fashion, the party never ends at Drai’s Nightclub – especially not when it’s New Year’s. On the decks tonight (Jan. 1) is DJ superduo Adventure Club, followed tomorrow (Jan. 2) by mysterious but oh-so-talented The Weeknd. Rounding out the gargantuan week of performances is resident DJ 3LAU on Saturday, Jan. 3 and DJ Franzen hosting SunDrai’s on Sunday, Jan. 4.

Limited tickets for Adventure Club, The Weeknd, 3LAU and DJ Franzen can still be purchased online at www.draislv.com.

Who Jonas is now is a 22 year old multi-talented artist stepping out on his own and re-inventing himself after achieving worldwide fame with The Jonas Brothers. The Grammy-nominated group sold 20 million albums and toured the globe several times over before calling it quits in October 2013. Its youngest member has lived a lot of life in those years and his experiences are reflected on his self-titled album which was released nationwide on November 11 via Island Records. The album’s smash single and radio hit, “Jealous,” penned by Jonas and co-written by with Nolan Lambroza and Simon Wilcox, peaked at #8 on Billboard Hot 100 and is now certified platinum. Jonas attributes the album’s darker overtones partially to the fact that while he was recording, he was also shooting the gritty television show Kingdom — a mixed martial arts family drama that premieres on DirecTV’s Audience Network on October 8. Jonas plays an MMA prize fighter who holds his cards close to his chest. This year, Jonas embarked on a Club Tour in support of his album, and visited 12 cities across the United States and Canada including Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles and New York and will be joining Iggy Azalea on her upcoming Great Escape Tour in Spring 2015.

After years of honing her signature style on hip-hop’s underground circuit, 4-time Grammy nominee Iggy Azalea burst onto the charts and emerged as the breakout story of 2014. Her smash hit, “Fancy” featuring Charli XCX, rocketed to #1, breaking airplay and Spotify records along the way. After an astounding 7 weeks at #1, Iggy Azalea made history on the Billboard Hot 100 as “Fancy” rewrote the record for the longest-leading No. 1 song by a female rapper. Iggy made chart history again as the first artist since The Beatles to rank at Nos. 1 and 2 simultaneously with their first two Hot 100 hits. “Fancy” has been unilaterally dubbed 2014’s “Song Of The Summer,” and has been covered by everyone from Saturday Night Live, to Jimmy Fallon, to Weird Al Yankovic. Iggy’s debut album The New Classic peaked at #1 on the Billboard Rap Album charts, a first for an international female artist. Iggy’s new single, “Black Widow” featuring Rita Ora, hit #1 at Top 40 and Rhythmic radio.

Bastille has been touring non-stop in support of its debut album, Bad Blood, which entered the U.K. albums chart at No. 1 and has sold over a million albums in the U.S. The band’s breakthrough hit “Pompeii” has now been certified four times Platinum by the RIAA in the U.S. It is certified Platinum (or multi-Platinum) in a total of seven countries, including the U.K., Australia, Canada and Italy. “Pompeii” is the most-streamed track of all time in the U.K. and one of the most-streamed tracks of 2014 on Spotify. The track has ruled at radio, topping Billboard’s Alternative Songs, Hot Rock Songs and Adult Alternative Songs charts and entering the Top 5 at the Mainstream Top 40 and Adult Top 40 formats. The official video has more than 125 million views. “Flaws,” the latest single from Bad Blood, is quickly climbing the Alternative radio charts.  In addition to its remarkable chart success, Bastille has been honored with a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. The group has won a BRIT Award, an mtvU Woodie and a Teen Choice Award and was nominated for two American Music Awards, five World Music Awards and numerous other honors.

Five years in from making his debut in pop music, Jason Derulo has sold more than 45 million records worldwide and amassed almost 1.5 billion views on his YouTube Channel.  His last song, “Wiggle,” featuring Snoop Dogg, is his eighth song to reach the Top 10 on the Top 40 format and his ninth platinum-selling single.  Derulo’s ubiquitous hit “Talk Dirty,” featuring 2 Chainz, was his most successful track to date, having sold more than six million singles worldwide with a music video that has garnered almost 250 million views on YouTube.  His fifth single from the Talk Dirty album, “Trumpets” is his fifth platinum song off of the album, putting him in an elite category of hit-making artists to accomplish the feat such as Drake (Take Care 2014), Katy Perry (Teenage Dream 2010), Bruno Mars (Doo Wops… 2010), Black Eyed Peas (The End 2009), Beyonce (Sasha Fierce 2008), P!nk (Funhouse 2008), Rihanna (Good Girl 2007) and Taylor Swift (Taylor Swift 2007). The Miami-native’s career started when he was 16 years old and began writing songs for artists like Lil Wayne, Pitbull, Diddy, Sean Kingston, Cassie and Danity Kane. He was the Teen Choice Awards 2014 “Choice Single Male” winner and also received two additional nominations including “Choice Summer Song” and “Choice Summer Music Star: Male.” The pop star’s video for “Talk Dirty” also earned him two additional nominations at the MTV Music Video Awards for “Best Pop Video” and “Best Choreography.”

Grammy-nominated vocal quintet, Pentatonix, is celebrating the Christmas season with the #1 holiday album in America.  That’s Christmas To Me, currently the #2 album on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart (#1 Digital, #1 Holiday) has already been certified gold and has been sitting atop the Holiday Chart since its release 7 weeks ago (2012’s PTXmas is currently #5 on the Holiday Chart).  The group’s six videos in support of the holiday album –  “Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy,” “White Winter Hymnal,” “Winter Wonderland /Don’t Worry Be Happy” featuring Tori Kelly, “Mary, Did You Know?,” “Silent Night” and their original song and title track, “That’s Christmas To Me” – have been viewed more than 35 million times.  Consisting of vocalists Scott Hoying, Kirstin Maldonado and Mitch Grassi, vocal bass Avi Kaplan and beatboxer Kevin “K.O.” Olusola, Pentatonix have also recently released PTX Vol. III which has already released 4 music videos, yielding more than 30 million views.  The group has eclipsed 7 million YouTube subscribers (more than both Avicii and Beyoncé), with more than 700 million cumulative views.  Their music video for “Daft Punk” has been viewed more than 100 million times and the medley earned the group their first Grammy nomination.

Rixton’s debut Me And My Broken Heart EP, featuring their multi-platinum hit single of the same title, cracked the Top 10 and Top 40 radio charts, climbed to No. 1 on the UK Singles chart and ranks one of the most Shazam-ed new tracks in the U.S., while the official video has racked up more than 40 million views on YouTube/VEVO. Rixton have delivered killer performances on Late Night With Seth Meyers, The Voice, Ellen, So You Think You Can Dance, The TODAY Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and more, in addition to being featured as an MTV 2014 “Artist To Watch” and a VEVO LIFT artist.  The band released their follow up track “Wait On Me” and just announced their new single “Hotel Ceiling” will be released in January.  Rixton will set out on a US tour supporting Ariana Grande in February prior to the release of their debut album Let The Road on March 3rd via School Boy/Giant Little Man/Mad Love/Interscope Records.  Hailing from Manchester, Rixton are Jake Roche, (vocals/rhythm guitar), Danny Wilkin (bass/keys), Charley Bagnall (lead guitar), and Lewi Morgan (drums).

New Zealand native and multiplatinum GRAMMY® Award-winning recording artist Lorde splashed on to the scene last year with her debut single “Royals,” which became an international hit landing her atop the Billboard Hot 100 and made her the youngest solo artist to achieve a U.S. number one since 1987, as well as holding the longest standing #1 for any female artist in the Billboard Alternative Chart history.   In September 2013, following her single’s success, Lorde released her debut studio album PURE HEROINE with Lava/Republic Records. The record sky-rocketed on the charts and has sold more than 1.5 million records to date.  Other singles from the album include “Tennis Court” and “Team” which both became top-ten worldwide hits.  On September 29th, Lorde released “Yellow Flicker Beat” the first single from the soundtrack of the greatly anticipated film THE HUNGER GAMES:  MOCKINGJAY – PART 1.  Upon impacting airwaves, the song made history by becoming the #1 Most Added song at Alternative Radio and set a new record for “Most Adds on a Female Artist” in Mediabase History.  Not only is “Yellow Flicker Beat” the #1 iTunes Soundtrack Song currently, it entered the Top 10 at Alternative Radio in just 3 short weeks.

One Direction has gone from energetic pop upstarts to international superstars. As the band’s song writing becomes more personal with each record, FOUR is set to be their most stunning and evolved yet. The album follows the global success of their huge sell out WHERE WE ARE stadium tour and the 3-D film documentary THIS IS US. Fans also had the opportunity to relive this summers’ tour with the release of their second film WHERE WE ARE: THE CONCERT FILM, which broke records as the largest audience across one weekend ever seen by Event Cinema theatres. The WHERE WE ARE: THE CONCERT FILM DVD will be released on December 2. Add all this to their 3 billion YouTube views, 109 million combined Twitter followers and 33 million Facebook fans and it’s clear that Liam, Harry, Louis, Niall and Zayn genuinely are a worldwide phenomenon. FOUR will be released globally on November 17, 2014 via Syco/Columbia Records and includes the lead single “Steal My Girl.”
