  • Cost: $100; tickets available here.
  • Description: Travel back in time to the Prohibition era for a tasting and tour at The Underground during Vegas Uncork’d by Bon Appétit. Guests will be transported by the taste of spirits smuggled by mobsters decades ago as they sample a variety of classic cocktails, new moonshine flavors from the Museum’s own onsite distillery and delicious passed appetizers while listening to live jazz, exploring eye-opening exhibits, and learning inside stories from expert educators.

Mother’s Day Weekend Special

  • Time: 9 a.m. to 12 a.m.
  • Cost: Mimosas will be available for $8. Non-alcoholic cocktails available for $5.

Jazz Nights

Industry Night

  • Cost: $12
  • Description: During these tours, which are available as an enhanced experience with the purchase of a deluxe or premier pass and include a sampling of a variety of distilled spirits, participants receive an in-depth explanation of the distillery equipment and distillation process and learn about Prohibition. In addition to learning about the historical origin of Prohibition and the drinking culture that existed before the 1920s, guests have the chance to take part in a spirit-tasting experience of house-distilled moonshine, vodka, as well as The Underground’s Jamaica ginger-infused moonshine. The Distillery Tours are designed to encourage visitors to develop an appreciation for the flavor of moonshine—especially since The Underground’s moonshine is as authentic as it can safely get. It is made in-house with 100 percent corn and bottled at 50 percent ABV. In addition, all visitors to the Museum may purchase souvenir bottles of Museum spirits in the speakeasy during these hours.

Las Vegas Chef Rick Moonen Goes Steampunk: Announces His New Concept – Rx Boiler Room

Award-winning chef, restaurateur and cookbook author Rick Moonen is thrilled to announce his new concept, Rx Boiler Room inside The Shoppes at Mandalay Place. Slated to debut in late June 2013, the restaurant that previously housed his fine-dining concept (often referred to as rm upstairs) will be transformed into a steampunk-inspired restaurant and lounge, with décor reminiscent of industrialism during the 19th century Victorian era, that promises to serve re-defined comfort food classics and hand-crafted cocktails.

“Las Vegas is one of the top travel destinations in the world, and with the food scene being turned on its ear the past few years, we wanted to create a truly unique and exciting eating and drinking experience for our guests,” said Moonen. “Rx Boiler Room will feature a cool and funky mix of old and new elements found throughout the space, and the menu is being created to excite and surprise palates of all levels, with cranked-up comfort and deliciously imaginative cocktails created by some of the best bar professionals in Las Vegas.”

Combining the alchemy of food and drink, Moonen will showcase his spin on classic comfort food, offering guests a variety of playful creations in small and large plate portions, ideal for a shared dining experience. Paired to elevate and complement the overall experience, the drink menu will feature an emporium of the finest spirits and innovative libations, capably crafted by lead barman Nathan Greene.
Showcasing a playful interior design that defies its new age, Rx Boiler Room will offer a modern reflection of the Victorian era, celebrating the steampunk sub-genre often associated with science-fiction and inspired by industrialized Western civilization during the 19th century. The overall eclectic feel of the room will be punctuated with warm colors, opulent leather seating, chalkboard walls, and a hammered metallic ceiling. Seating options will include comfortable pub-style tables within the apothecary-style lounge; or intimate booth dining, where guests will find themselves surrounded by a variety of glass art, sculptures and rich velvet drapes.

Rx Boiler Room will be open for dinner seven nights a week. For additional details, please visit or Like Rx Boiler Room on Facebook and follow along on Twitter for updates and special event information.

Wolfgang Puck & Bon Appetit Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Spago at The Forum Shops

Just added to the 2012 Vegas Uncork’d by Bon Appétit Schedule:
Spago 20th Anniversary Lunch featuring Wolfgang Puck, David Robins
and Eric Klein
Bon Appétit Editor-in-Chief Adam Rapoport and pioneering chef Wolfgang Puck are set to co-host a spectacular four-course, wine-pairing lunch to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Spago at The Forum Shops at Caesars on May 10, 2012 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Credited with igniting the fine dining revolution in Las Vegas, Puck made his debut in 1992 with the opening of Spago. This bold move marked a departure from the oversized buffets of old Las Vegas and traditional casino dining rooms, paving the way for other celebrity chefs to open signature restaurants of their own, transforming Las Vegas into the worldwide culinary destination it is now.
To celebrate the restaurant’s 20th anniversary and the dining landscape of Las Vegas today, the master chef and Bon Appétit will host this exclusive event to kick off the sixth annual Vegas Uncork’d extravaganza.  The lunch will also feature Spago’s first Executive Chef David Robins and Spago’s current Executive Chef Eric Klein.  While enjoying an impressive meal prepared by the trio of chefs, guests also will hear candid personal anecdotes including Wolfgang’s memories of his first night opening in Las Vegas.
Space is limited for this intimate lunch gathering and tickets are available today for purchase at Ticket price is $150 per person.
“If it weren’t for Wolfgang and his work at Spago, there’s no way Las Vegas could have developed the incredibly high-level restaurant scene it has today. After so many years as a classic, the great energy and the food that made Spago groundbreaking–and still make it so vital today, at the top of its game–mean it’s the perfect place to kick off Vegas Uncork’d in 2012,” said Rapoport.
Setting the standard in celebrity chef-helmed restaurants in Las Vegas, Puck, along with managing partners Tom Kaplan and David Robins, opened Spago inside The Forum Shops in December of 1992. In a prestigious retail center that is known for its many “firsts,” The Forum Shops shares this anniversary milestone year. Spago has been masterfully redesigned twice since its original opening and the menu has evolved over the years. However, guests can still find Wolfgang’s first signature dish, Smoked Salmon Pizza with crème fraiche and caviar, and the Wienerschnitzel with Warm Potato Salad (Wolfgang’s favorite!)
The original Executive Chef at Spago, David Robins, came to Las Vegas from San Francisco where he was working for Jeremiah Tower at his famed restaurant Stars. He was a 2005 Best Chef-Southwest nominee by the James Beard Foundation and voted Best Chef in Las Vegas by Las Vegas Life magazine.
Executive Chef Eric Klein began his career with Wolfgang Puck at the original Spago in West Hollywood and worked for Wolfgang for many years before leaving to open his own restaurant, Maple Drive. He re-joined with Wolfgang in 2007 as Executive Chef at Spago inside The Forum Shops at Caesars. Klein was previously named one of the Top 10 Best Chefs in America by Food & Wine magazine.
