Three Square Food Bank Works to Bag Childhood Hunger with ‘Fashion For Three Square’
Seventh annual event transformed Three Square headquarters into elegant social gathering in support of longstanding charitable campaign to benefit children in need


On Saturday, May 5, “Fashion for Three Square,” a special event underwritten by the Bennett Family Foundation, transformed Three Square’s north campus, which ordinarily houses operations, volunteering, food rescue, warehousing and distribution, into a grand party venue. The gathering featured elegant décor, fashion models, entertainment and local culinary tastes as attendees supported the Bag Childhood Hunger campaign, now in its seventh year.

The event featured fashions by Etro, presented by Neiman Marcus, along with food provided by top Las Vegas restaurants including: Blue Ribbon, STK, Buddy V’s Ristorante, La Strega, Libertine Social and Carnevino. In addition, Three Square’s executive chef John Hilton and his team prepared live dishes at the food bank’s demonstration kitchen & atrium. One of Three Square’s storage coolers was converted into an ice bar, featuring Artisanal Foods and Tito’s Handmade Vodka. MGM Resorts International provided an array of sweet treats. The event also welcomed entertainment from Las Vegas-based soul singer Jessica Manalo; Strip headliners The Australian Bee Gees, who performed hits from one of the most successful acts in musical history, the Bee Gees; and students from the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts.

Contributions made to Three Square’s Bag Childhood Hunger Campaign, which continues through May 31, will be used right here in Southern Nevada and will have double the impact thanks to a generous $500,000 contribution to match gifts toward the food bank’s goal to raise $2 million.

The Bag Childhood Hunger campaign supports one of the most vulnerable populations in Southern Nevada, children. Proper nutrition for children is critical as hunger can cause lasting physical and mental challenges. One in four children in Southern Nevada live in households that are food insecure. Additionally, more than 62 percent of children in Clark County schools are enrolled in free or reduced-price meal programs. That’s more than 203,000 students.

In its 10th year fighting hunger, Three Square is able to provide three meals for every dollar donated to the food bank. Thanks to the support of matching sponsors throughout this campaign, Three Square will be able to provide six meals for every dollar donated.

National Coffee Day is Friday, Sept. 29, but guests will celebrate all month long at Carnevino Italian Steakhouse at The Palazzo with the “Calexico.”

This inventive coffee-inspired cocktail combines Avion Anejo Tequila, Borghetti di Vero Caffè Espresso Liqueur, Licor 43, Campari, Aztec Coffee Bitters and cinnamon. Complex, the drink will be available for $24.

WHO:
Carnevino Italian Steakhouse (“carne” indicating the highest quality steaks and “vino” for superlative wines) is Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich’s interpretation and celebration of the classic steakhouse presented in their signature Italian style. Located inside The Palazzo, the restaurant is replete with soaring ceilings, Italian marble and antique furniture. As guests walked into the poolside soiree, they were greeted with a visually stunning wall made of more than three-thousand donuts, that they were able to take home and enjoy. The evening also included a unique take on bonbons and beignets from Buddy V’s Ristorante, Bouchon, Carnevino, Chica, Hong Kong Café, Lagasse’s Stadium, LAVO, Mercato della Pescheria, SushiSamba, and TAO restaurants at The Venetian and The Palazzo.

Valastro took to the stage and welcomed the crowd, “I always love any opportunity to come to The Venetian and The Palazzo with Buddy V’s and Carlo’s Bakery here it feels like a little home away from home for me.”

Chef Lorena Garcia, featured chef of the new Chica restaurant opening May 14, also made a special appearance. “I am so excited to be part of Vegas Uncork’d with The Venetian, and debut our new restaurant Chica, that is opening on May 14.

Live music played throughout the night as guests mixed and mingled.

The evening then continued at The Dorsey, a visually stunning cocktail bar at The Venetian for the “The Ultimate Big Cake and Craft Cocktail After-Party with Buddy V.” The Cake Boss rolled out a big cake for guests to enjoy and couldn’t have been happier, “Being here for Vegas Uncork’d by Bon Appétit and hosting “Sweet Escape” as well as “The Ultimate Big Cake and Craft Cocktail After-Party” was an incredible chance to enjoy this beautiful property, share some excellent treats with great foodies and fans. So much talent was here this year and I look forward to many more events with The Venetian and The Palazzo famiglia.”

 Beginning Sept. 5, the award-winning Carnevino Italian Steakhouse at The Palazzo will launch the perfect reason to extend the lunch hour: The Martini Lunch. Priced at $65 per person*, the meal includes two martinis, plus three courses, all of which can be served within an hour. The menu showcases some of Carnevino’s most distinctive and beloved dishes and will change with the seasons.

When guests arrive, they will be able to select two libations from the following selection of classic martinis with a slight Carnevino twist:

  • Manhattan (rye, sweet Vermouth and bitters)
  • English Cucumber (Hendrick’s, St. Germain and lime)
  • Blood Orange Cosmo (Grey Goose Citron vodka and Cointreau)
  • Classic (choice of vodka or gin with Castelvetrano olives)

For the first course, guests may choose one of the following:

  • Little Gem Salad (tomatoes, ricotta salata and herbs)
  • Grilled Octopus (pickled vegetables and limoncello)**
  • Carne Cruda (chopped to order steak tartare)

The Venetian® and The Palazzo® Las Vegas welcome the return of Carnival of CuisineFriday, June 5, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This year, the popular culinary spectacle will be held poolside at The Palazzo pool deck and will feature a special visit by celebrity chef Mario Batali.

 

This celebrated annual event showcases award-winning cuisine from the distinguished restaurants of The Venetian and The Palazzo. This weekend celebrity Chefs Daniel Boulud, Emeril Lagasse, and Buddy “Cake Boss” Valastro hosted Ultimo-A Weekend of Excellence at The Venetian Las Vegas. This luxurious weekend kicked off with the spectacular Grand Banquet in the iconic Grand Colonnade featuring a single breathtaking table that hosted nearly 200 guests. Celebrity Chefs Daniel Boulud and Emeril Lagasse prepared a decadent dinner fit for royalty that ended with a magnificent ten-story cake from Buddy “Cake Boss” Valastro. The evening also featured a live auction benefiting the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. World renowned pianist, Danny Wright (Billboard Magazine’s Top 10 artist), Sisaundra Lewis(season six contestant of NBC’s The Voice) and Venetian headliners Human Nature entertained guests throughout the evening while Robin Leach acted as the evenings emcee.  The celebrity chef hosts mixed and mingle with the crowd as top winemakers from all around the world completed the dinner with the perfect wine pairing.

On Saturday morning guests were treated to a selection of luxury experiences starting with a fabulous French brunch hosted by Chef Daniel Boulud at his new restaurant db Brasserie, where guests enjoyed French-American classics and bubbly . Following brunch, guests participated in a private baking class from The Cake Boss himself at Buddy V’s Ristorante, a race car experience at Exotic Racing where guests drove the latest luxury sports cars at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, relaxed at the gorgeous Canyon Ranch Spa Club, and enjoyed an exclusive fashion show and experience.

Ultimo continued into the night, with an intimate Dine Around experience in the Palazzo Waterfall Atriums & Gardens where guests sampled dishes from The Venetian’s collection of gourmet restaurants including Carnevino, Buddy V’s Ristorante, CUT, Bouchon, Delmonico’s Steakhouse, and db Brasserie. Celebrity chefs Daniel Boulud and Buddy Valastro were on hand at the event making sure guests enjoyed their food and experience. Guests were going back for thirds of Buddy Valastro’s lasagna, and Bouchon’s braised short ribs. The evening concluded with an exclusive after party in the special Richard Hennessy lounge inside The Venetian’s high-roller Paiza Club where guests sipped on Hennessy infused cocktails and desserts, while listening to a presentation from a Hennessy expert on the history of Cognac.

The weekend wrapped with an exceptional Truffle Farewell hosted by Emeril Lagasse at his award-winning Delmonico Steakhouse. Over 25 lbs. of truffles were brought in for this brunch, and paired with premium beef and farm fresh eggs. Guests were seen laughing and chatting with their new friends that they had made over the extraordinary Ultimo weekend.

Southern Nevada’s Premiere Culinary Extravaganza is Back at The Palazzo for the Fifth Year

The Las Vegas Epicurean Affair returns to The Palazzo® Las Vegas on Thursday, May 22. Sponsored by the Nevada Restaurant Association (NvRA), the Las Vegas Epicurean Affair showcases prestigious restaurants and beverage purveyors that have elevated Las Vegas to an international dining destination. It’s On!  New ‘Culinary Clash’ master chef competition pits the best Las Vegas Chefs in an interactive experience, unfolding over four weeks

 

The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas have announced CULINARY CLASH, a new competition for the resort’s famed team of chefs.  This four-week competition will result in the rise of a new legend on The Las Vegas Strip – The VENETIAN VICTOR, winner of the first CULINARY CLASH master chef competition.

The late-evening competition hosted by local lifestyle celebrities Claudine Grant and Robin Leach, unfolds from 10pm until 2am on Nov. 29, Dec. 7, 14 and 21.  It is open to all sous chefs and chefs de cuisine at the 30+ restaurants located inside The Venetian and The Palazzo, including Sushi Samba, Table 10, First Food, TAO, Aquaknox, Zine, Lagasse Stadium, Carnevino, Public House, Valentino, Delmonico, B&B, Rattlecan,  LAVO, Otto Enoteca, and Bouchon.

Chefs will be challenged to create recipes using ingredients provided in a “mystery basket,” to be prepared in mobile “food truck” kitchens, located on the Las Vegas Strip at The Venetian’s Doge’s Palace plaza.  The head-to-head clash will be broadcasted live on a giant screen on The Venetian Clock Tower for all audience members to appreciate.  Each chef’s creation will then be available for sampling.

Culinary Clash will give guests the occasion to experience Italian-inspired food and drinks while joining in a festive holiday outdoor party.  Each cooking battle will be highlighted with street entertainment, DJ music and an after party provided by TAO.

Expect plenty of surprises, including guest appearances by The Venetian and The Palazzo’s celebrity chefs, who will head the prestigious judging panel:

  • Round 1 – Nov. 29 – Chef Emeril Lagasse
  • Round 2 – Dec. 7 – Chef Mario Batali
  • Round 3 –  Dec. 14  (Semifinals ) Chef Sammy DeMarco
  • Round 4 – Dec. 21 (Finals)  Surprise Chef TBA

At the conclusion of the Culinary Clash, the surprise chef and prestigious judging panel will crown a victor chef.  This Venetian Victor and a guest will receive a trip to Italy, the inspiration behind The Venetian.

“This event is going to be a lot of fun,” said Sebastian Silvestri, vice president of food and beverage at The Venetian and The Palazzo. “And what better place to host such a competition than Las Vegas, which has become one of the greatest food cities in the world.”

In fact, Much of The Venetian’s  fame comes from its reputation as a culinary capital of the Las Vegas Strip. The Palazzo Las Vegas hosted the Las Vegas Epicurean Affair presented by the Nevada Restaurant Association featuring nearly 75 renowned restaurants and beverage purveyors last night. Approximately 1,800 guests mingled amongst the elegant Pools at The Palazzo and sampled culinary delights from local celebrated restaurants. Recognized as one of the city’s premier tasting events, this year’s sold out Epicurean Affair dazzled once again as world-class chefs tempted guests’ palates throughout the evening.

Guests started their culinary journey with chilled melon soup with bleu camen lemon grimala and citris gastrio from Lagasse’s Stadium and prosciutto-wrapped mozzarella and heirloom tomato salad from The Capital Grille before venturing to Bouchon’s short ribs and STK’s spiced pickled prawns.

Those looking for more exotic flavors didn’t have to travel far to find TAO’s tuna tenaki with wasabi salsa, Diego’s huitlacoche braised beef tacos and Bacio’s conchiglie con gamberi e arugula.

The three restaurants of celebrity chef and restaurateurs Mario Batali and Joe Bastianch, Carnevino, B&B Ristorante and Otto Enoteca, were combined into one booth while other favorites included Craftsteak’s beef tenderloin carpaccio with argula, parmesan and asparagus and Public House’s rabbit loin in porchetta with duck rillette fritter and raspberry passion fruit verrine.

Laguna Champagne Bar kept the bubbly flowing from the center bar with their signature Flower Eclipse champagne cocktail and a touch screen “Smart Bar” poured perfectly concocted libations. Diageo set up an ultra-lounge in Azure Pool’s rotunda where guests posed for silly photo booth pictures.

Sweet endings came from The Cupcakery’s mini cupcakes, Hash House a Go Go with strawberry shortcake and their ever-popular kiwi watermelon drink, Bouchon’s key lime pie parfait and Canyon Ranch Grill’s orange ginger mousse with praline.

Other participating restaurants included Mint Indian Bistro, Gilley’s Saloon, Delmonico Steakhouse, Maggiano’s, Origin India, Zine Noodles Dim Sum, Ferraro’s, FIRST Food & Bar, Double Helix, CUT by Wolfgang Puck, Postrio Bar & Grill, Aquaknox, Taqueria Canonita, Fogo de Chao, Beam Global, Il Mulino and SUSHISAMBA.
